I surprised my wife, who really loves horses, by taking her to breakfast here. It is very simple and practical cooking area and you order at the counter. The food was great and the prices were extremely affordable. We had bacon, 3 eggs, hash browns and toast. I am a bacon lover and the bacon was thick and cooked just right. All of the seating is outside looking out at the track with horses getting their workouts. The mountains in the background are so tall and impressive. We don't live in So Cal, but when we do come back down, we will definitely be back at Clocker's Corner! read more

Food , price, and views are amazing! The portions are big and the price is unbelievable low. Service is okay the cashier was very stern and wanted us to order in a quick manne but she was not rude. Don't expect anything fancy, its outdoor sitting the tables are very dirty due to the dust from the track so bring something to clean them. What a Fun way to spend the morning! Felt like an insiders local hang! Breakfast and watch the horses warm up. Food was really great diner food, service was curt and that's not a bad thing! The two that ran the kitchen were arguing like an old married couple which actually added to the charm. We were there after 8am and told in a sweetly condescending tone "if you'd have gotten here before. 8am the coffee is free." I highly recommend the experience! I heard about Clocker's Corner from an old co-worker years ago. I didn't think it was possible to eat at the racetrack and watch the horses train at the same time. I came here with my friend who is in Veterinarian school and we both had so much fun! I would definitely do it again. Environment - parking m may be difficult and confusing if it's your first time. Do not park in the big parking lot because there's a smaller parking lot located next to Clocker's that you can use. The restaurant is located outdoors and it's your typical stadium food with plastic tables and chairs to sit at. So don't expect anything too fancy!! You're here for the experience only. There are some tables with sun umbrellas attached but some don't. So if you want a good seat with shade at a table, come early! This place opens at 5am in the morning. If you come late and you still want shade, you can totally sit on the bleachers with no table. I saw some dude with a laptop just chillin and drinking coffee while watching the horses haha Service - quick and sufficient. Nothing to complain about. You can get your own ketchup, salt/peppers and napkins by yourself. If you happen to not finish your food, like me, they can give you aluminum foil to take your food home. Food - like everyone else says, the food here is mediocre. I got a Denver omelette and it was really oily. The hash browns that it came with was really dry and burnt. I ate everything regardless. Just enjoy the view. Although I am a big foodie... I wouldn't come here for the food. The restaurant is basically a counter that you order your food at and then seat yourself. Since we were large group, we had menus at our table and the food was brought out to us. The food was very basic and reasonably priced. You get what you pay for. Service was super friendly. If you want a unique breakfast experience, you should visit this place. Food is served from an order window, and enjoyed by patrons on an outdoor patio adjacent to the horse track. This prime location gives visitors a unique opportunity to start their morning with a solid breakfast while watching jockeys and their horses getting some exercise. Good selections range from breakfast burritos to omelets, egg and short-order style meals, and muffins, breads, etc. Hot fresh coffee is always a good choice on cold winter mornings. Prices are reasonable, akin to fast food or take out places. I've only visited on weekdays, but the place is always pretty lively. Have lived in the area for nearly 10 years and never knew you could watch morning workouts while enjoying some breakfast. We went early on a Saturday morning (around 8ish). It can be difficult to get to. You enter through gate 8. It's off Baldwin. Once you enter you park straight ahead and walk through the gate that's left of the stands. They have several breakfast offerings here from donuts and bagels to heartier fare like french toast and eggs with all the fixings. The food was just ok for us. I ordered the sourdough french toast, only to be told they don't have any sourdough bread, just white. Hub had the eggs/bacon/toast plate. Cooked well but nothing mindblowing. My son did enjoy watching the horses as he ate his breakfast. Other reviews talked about the horse smell, but we didn't really notice it at all. read more

I happened to see Clocker's Corner on an old episode of Huell Howser. What a cool experience. I would say read this review and learn about a few things. We parked at Gate 8. Parking is free early in the AM. We got there about 8am. We weren't entirely sure where to go but several people helped guide us to the right location. We walked up and a host sat us at a table higher up with no shade. It was already quite toasty warm. So sunscreen and a hat are a good thing. We looked at the menu and I was surprised by two things, one - there was no French toast...of course my son really wanted it and two - how expensive the prices were. Because the menu prices were high, we opted for the buffet and I wish we hadn't. OK people you aren't going for the food. But I at least want my money's worth. There was bacon, sausage, donuts, mini croissants, scrambled eggs and some fruit. It was still $11/adult and $7/kids. Well my youngest certainly didn't eat much of anything. My recommendation would be to eat at the express counter which was far more reasonable. I'm not sure if you can sit at the tables, but you can sit anywhere in the stands. And I do mean anywhere. After eating we sat for an hour in the stands to get out of the sun. I had called earlier in the week to book the Seabiscuit Tour. Cynthia on the phone literally gave me the run around. I was so confused talking to her and I had to clarify everything. I wanted the 8:30am tour, she said they didn't have one. Um...it's online. Well we were the only ones asking for it. Alright...book us for the 9:45am tour. She said we needed to be at the tram by 9:30am. Well at 8:10am, the announcer is calling for people to prepare for the 8:30am tram tour. Ok, so you DO have that time slot. We got on the tram and no one asked for our names. Some people walked up at 9:35am and the tram was full. They were told they couldn't join. They said they made reservations and the person working there starting lecturing them about how they were late! Well I'm sure some of the people sitting on the tram never even had reservations. I would have been upset. Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Paige. She was well spoken and very detailed. The information online is not what we saw. I'm not sure why and that was disappointing. We got our hand stamped so we could stay at the races for the rest of the day for free if we wanted. The reason for the four stars is the location. It is great to watch the horses run and get their workouts on the track. Whoa nelly! Great breakfast place to watch the morning workouts. Eats are good, almost too nice to have it served on plastic plates. You sit in the stands with others, just like you. You'll also see posh owners, some gamblers, real interesting crowd. It's all reminiscent in a bygone era when sea biscuit was king. Suggestions: It's super hard to get to, especially if you've never been. Enter from the mall side, the west end... Baldwin and gate 8. When you park, all I can say is the restaurant is on the west side of the tracks, ask for directions as you navigate through the maze...you'll be walking a while. Went on a Sunday. Go before 9 a.m., it gets crowded and super sunny. Choose the table service, unless you plan to eat on the run. One other thing, I hear taking pictures of the horses is frowned upon without the owner's consent... but I did it anyways....opps. FYI: Clocker: A person who times workouts and races.
