Plain vanilla menu, easy to read. Reasonably priced entree. Simple but delicious. Service was great and attentive. The place is clean and comfortable. A place I would always go back to. Unfortunately, it's cash only. But prices are affordable that it's pushing it to go over twenty if you just want plain breakfast or lunch.

This is one of my favorites places to dine at. It's so cozy and The food is so great I struggle deciding what I want to eat. The breakfast burrito is a favorite, the ranchero sauce on top has so much flavor and the burrito is huge! And the service is the best out there! I never have an empty water glass or coffee. Everyone makes you feel welcomed. when it is busy they still handle it all with a smile and never let the amazing service stop. Special shout out to Judy for always being amazing.

Looks like I'm J & A's 300th review! I had brunch here a week ago and really enjoyed my meal. To start, this isn't a glamorous place, it's quaint and down to earth. The chairs, plates, and interior decor all give off a cozy vibe, like the feeling you get eating at an elderly neighbor's home. The food was delicious! I ordered too much, but there were so many good options. My meal consisted of the huevos rancheros, a side of sausage links, a waffle, and coffee. My main dish, the huevos rancheros, was the perfect portion and was smothered in a tasty red sauce. The waffle was crispy and paired well with the savory eggs and sausage links. The service was also great- quick and efficient.

Before we headed to USC Arcadia Hospital to visit my father in law first we needed to have some breakfast. I did some research on my Yelp. I found this hole in wall restaurant in the city of Duarte in a shopping center away from the hospital, but it pays off this adventure, getting great breakfast. When we arrived, we found parking right away. we noticed right away a pack that was headed to the restaurant. we got off the car and then headed to the restaurant. My wife added my name to the waiting list, and then we found out this restaurant is a CASH ONLY restaurant. Then, two elderly women told us there's a Bank of America just across the street from the restaurant. Then we waited for it to call my name, and finally, did the waitress bring us in to lead us to our table and hand us the menu. We we're looking at the menu. we surprised they a good selection of breakfast and lunch and some specials on the board outside and inside the restaurant. I decided to order the biscuit with gravy with two sausge pattys and two eggs scramble and an order of peach pancakes. I ordered the house omettle come the choices of sausage, chicken or meat I choices sauage to my omelet and got country potatoes and wheat Toast to my meal. It took a while because first, the restaurant is packed with customers' second limited staff. In the restaurant, they did their good. Everything is my from scratch daily and made to order. We got meals, and it looks so good. I took a bite of my house omelets it was pretty good, plenty of sauage and veggies, and also the cheese it was good that's a very good omelet and plus a nice slices of avocado on top of the omelet. The country potatoes were cooked perfectly nice golden brown they very good. My wife enjoyed her biscuit with gravy, and the two sausge pattys and two eggs. She also enjoyed her peach pancakes they very fluffy pancakes. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about menu and specials they have at the restaurant. We need to come back again at J & A Cafe.

First visit for breakfast and everything was okay. The service was prompt and the food good, but nothing out of the ordinary. We tried the Corned Beef Hash & Two Eggs ($11.99) and the Country Fried Steak & Two Eggs ($11.99 + $1 for biscuits & gravy, instead of toast). Food came out to the table hot and well-seasoned. I'd stop in again when in the area.

Great variety in breakfast selections. I had amazing huevos rancheros. You are able to select your tortilla flour or corn . My husband had a senior special with eggs over easy, delicious Homestyle potatoes, and bacon. You're able to pick your toast Friday and had English muffins. Service is what is amazing here. Everyone is so friendly and has each other's back. Ambience --Typical diner We are from out of town but would go again, hands-down.

First off all, props to J&A for saving my butt & being open on 4th of July. In a strange twist, I had to work early in the morning, & when I finished work & searched "breakfast," this place came up. I took a chance hoping they would be open, & luckily they were. I was seated right away & got coffee & water. Service - the service here is unbelievable. They seem to use a team approach instead of my table vs your table. One person took my order, a different person delivered my food, and yet another person checked refilled my coffee & water. Everything was so efficient, & a minute after my food was bright to my table, my server checked to make sure everything came out ok. Love this! Food - My plate of food was delicious, everything was made fresh & served at the right temperature. I asked my English muffin unbuttered, & my server made sure it came out that way. Don't expect some fancy place. But the prices aren't fancy either, so everything matches. What you do get is friendly service & great food that is reasonably priced. Can't wait to come back.

If you know, you know! J&A's is one of best kept secrets in the San Gabriel Valley. The front is small enough that unless you're looking for it you never notice it. Locals make it their spot. A plumber friend takes his crew there every Saturday morning for breakfast. They are CASH ONLY! Personally I love that, but it can be a bit inconvenient for some. Their prices are the lowest I have found out of the dozen breakfast spots I have been to. As a result they need to keep folks moving through. Now they would never treat you that way. It's just my personal observation. Once there are no more booths left and most of the tables are filled we take off so they can keep their prices. The food is always good to great. The service is fantastic. The coffee is decent enough to order.

Just came here for the first time, and read other reviews about the biscuits and gravy. First, J&A's Cafe has an awesome old school diner feel to it. Small, quaint, and quiet. The service is amazing. They give you a level of care that you rarely find nowadays at restaurants. They make you feel like family from the first minute you walk in the door. The food: so, I am a bit of a biscuits and gravy snob. I've had it in many parts of the US over the decades, so I'm hard to please in this area. What did I think of it? The portions are good sized, but if you just order biscuits and gravy, and not their country breakfast, you get two fluffy, yummy biscuits smothered in a country gravy. My only complaint is that there is no meat in the gravy. I prefer pork sausage, but I've had it made with lots of different meats. Do yourself a favor, if you are like me, and order a side of the sausage patties, which come with 3 thin but sizable sausage patties cooked to perfection. Once I ordered the sausage, and added some pepper, the meal was SO MUCH BETTER. Note that this didn't come cheap; with tax, before tip, it was right around $20. Instead of a 5 out of 10, this jumps up to an 8 out of 10. I would totally come back either to have this again, or have something else. The only reason I didn't give J&A's Cafe 5 stars is because their gravy doesn't have sausage in it, and they don't take cards. This is more my issue, I should have looked at this myself, just make sure you have cash. Thank you J&A's for a memorable meal in an amazing atmosphere!! Can't wait to see you again.

This little cafe is so cute and welcoming! The food is made with so much love and the staff are so friendly. It was our first time here and it definitely will not be our last. We were a party of four ladies enjoying our monthly Brunch and we have definitely found our new spot. Our waitress kept the coffee cups full and my Arnold palmers coming. Ordered the country fried steak, eggs and hashbrowns. Loved that she asked my if I wanted it crispy and my answer was yes mam!!! I like my toast well toasted and I received it. The gravy was outstanding with a great pepper taste. I was so happy with my meal. Friends ordered the waffle special and it came out looking amazing with scrambled eggs and bacon. My other buddy ordered the French toast and she said it was the best she has ever had. I can't wait to come back and try everything on the menu. Thank you for your amazing food and welcoming atmosphere.

Friendly service and good was good amount portion! Tasted like home food, and I loved all decorations on the wall. This place is good and feels like home!

Employees there are very kind and seem to take an interest in everyone who walks in the door. Recently an incident occurred that I have nothing but respect for how the staff handled. A now former regular, who I will be keeping anonymous for obvious reasons, was banned from the store for openly racist remarks and verbally harassing staff. I was not personally present for it, but that is accurate to my experience with said person. They have repeatedly made racist and classist comments and have pretty heavy handedly push their ideological views to me. After banning said customer, they proceeded to threaten and harass the staff, from what I saw in regards to the banning, the manager Adam handled it with more respect and elegance than I believed necessary. Despite his tact, she took that as an opportunity to go on a tangent of excessive profanity and slurs. I think it's very telling about the type of people who work at Penny that they value maintaining a safe and welcoming environment even in the face of bullying and harassment. I've never felt more inclined to go to penny than I do now. Thank you guys for what you do and keep up the good work. You guys are rock stars fr!!

Over the years, I've spent…read morethousands of dollars here and have recommended the shop to many friends and others in the coffee community. Unfortunately, my experience with the shop changed because of repeated interactions with the store manager, Adam and the event that had just happened. I want the owners to be aware of concerns I have regarding the atmosphere created by management. On multiple occasions, I have heard Adam speak negatively about the owners and other baristas in front of customers. I have also experienced him bringing personal and political opinions into conversations while working, which I feel creates an uncomfortable/unprofessional environment. He works every Monday so I can't even sit on the only couch and drink my coffee in peace, he's always talking nonsense and forcing his personal opinions down my throat. He never stops talking, and if you try to share your opinion, he talks right over you. He has a veryyy hard time accepting viewpoints that differ from his own. He's honestly on some sort of power trip. The most concerning incident occurred recently when Adam yelled in my face while inside the coffee shop!! Then the other barista, David got involved with his encouragement during this interaction. They surrounded me and were trying to intimidate me together and at that time there were no other customers in the store, and when I tried to speak to them to tell them to stop yelling at me- they went at me harder to the point I had to literally run out of the shop bc I didn't feel safe there. It's the first time I have ever had two men corner me and yell at me- it was honestly traumatizing. After leaving, I informed David that I would never be returning. I believed that would be the end of the situation. However, David provided Adam with my personal phone number without my permission, and Adam contacted me by text after I had already left the store in an effort to intimidate me further. During that exchange, Adam also accused me of being racist. I found it completely inappropriate that my personal information was shared without my consent so that a workplace conflict could continue outside of the store. I also want to address an issue with David. Throughout my visits, you have repeatedly attempted to hug me or touch me when I came into the shop. Regardless of your intentions, this made me uncomfortable. Customers should not be touched without their consent. I also work in the business of customer service, and I understand the importance of professionalism. I would never speak negatively about my employer to customers, push personal or political views on people supporting my business, yell at a customer, or use a customer's personal information to continue a confrontation after they leave. It's disappointing because I did like this coffee shop and wanted to continue supporting it. However, my experiences with Adam and David traumatized me. I hope the owners take these concerns seriously and address them so other customers do not have similar experiences.

They also have their own curated selection of beauty products, home decor, and not to mention, an adorable collection of bookmarks that I just can't resist. I'm a big fan! I am subscribed to their email newsletter and followed their socials to stay up to date, since I don't want to miss a thing from them. I can't wait to see what they have upcoming this year and continue to support them.

Natalie, first off I was not yelling at your employee as a matter of fact (if that was your mom)…read moreshe was actually receptive and willing to fulfill my request by giving me either more or making another drink with no problem because she did ask if I would like more up until you came out from the back and interceded. I then let you know about the amount of ice in the cup and you just offered more milk. I did not want more milk and would've been satisfied with an apology and/or offering a remake or more like your employee offered. I ended up ordering another one with no ice since you only offered milk and I got the cup half full along with your attitude. YOU DID NOT OFFER A REFUND OR REFUND THE $6.50! The screenshot attached shows I PAID $6.50 NOT refunded $6.50! Please stop lying! Ordered the Horchata, 2 other refreshers and an apple juice. Paid $25 for all. The majority of the cup for the horchata was filled with ice to make it seem like you're getting a cup full of actual product. Was gone in like 3 sips! Went back to tell them after realizing how much ice was in the cup, and was offered milk and was told it's not going to taste like the horchata I had ordered it was only milk. I asked if they can make it like the horchata I ordered, I didn't want just plain milk. You would think after paying $25, they would be apologetic and offer to remake it, however, the "owner" Natalie didn't offer an apology for the disappointment or offer to remake it, she just offered more milk and said everything is "pre-measured" and continued to charge me for another one when I had asked for it to be made like the horchata because i didn't want plain milk. I ordered another one with no ice thinking I would get a full cup paid $6.50 and was given a cup half full. I couldn't believe it! That's more than a gallon of milk!! THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF! They should not be filling the cup 3/4 of ice and deceiving people! Natalie seemed upset that I was unhappy with this service with the attitude she was giving. People should know what they're actually getting and not be deceived by all the ice they put to make it look like you're getting more when you're not! Because of the lack of customer service that's the last time I go there! BUYERS BEWARE DON'T BE DECEIVED! I've attached a screenshot of the transaction and it was NOT a refund!

I'd like to start off by saying that before today, I've raved to everyone about our favorite local…read morecoffee shop, and would've given this place 5 stars, no questions asked. Sadly, one employee can quickly change that, and I'm writing this in hopes that management helps them better understand how to properly deal with each individual situation. My husband and I go in for drinks and food, anywhere from 3-5 times a week, and we gladly leave tips in the jars, because up until today, we had nothing but great experiences. Today at about noon, I went in and ordered at the register. I ordered my husband's large drink, and order my REGULAR drink, paid for an ADDED shot, and asked if it could be placed in a large cup instead of regular cup, with extra ice. No issues ordering and paying. Even left a tip in their jars. I move over to wait for my drink and the girl making the drinks (short curly hair) finds an issue with me asking for a large cup and tells me that is an upcharge because it's more plastic and it's an inventory issue, and I'd have to pay for a large drink. Really? At first I think that perhaps she's under the impression that I want more of the drink or extra ice on the side perhaps? so I proceed to explain to her that I want the same amount that comes with my regular drink, but just want extra ice and space for my added shot that was paid for, hence the larger cup. She refused to budge and tells me it doesn't matter, that I have to pay for a large, even though I had already paid and the girl taking my order has no issue with this. Her attitude towards the situation was so bizarre and I wonder if her inability to process what I was explaining is what caused her to be so "firm" on this, but I left feeling so disappointed and frankly, not sure if I want to return. Possibly losing a customer over what you think is a 50cent "thievery" seems like bad business. UPDATE: within minutes of the review posting, Isaiah, the CEO personally called me to apologize for the poor experience and promised to look into this to make sure it doesn't happen again. He was also confused, since he assured me that is in no way company policy, and offered to void today's transaction. Thank you for making us feel heard.

UPDATE: TRY THE SEASONAL DRINKS AND FOOD!…read more I'm in love with the sticky mango matcha, which is as decadent as it sounds. It's sweet and creamy with a sesame flavor through the matcha. It's like dessert in a cup! With caffeine. Also got the Van Nuys sandwich, made with a cheesy sourdough and they grill it so it browns and crisps - oh so perfectly. It was my first time at San Fernando Coffee Company, and it won't be my last! They have great coffee, breakfast options, and an awesome team making it happen. I went on a Sunday around 11 am, absolutely needing a hot coffee and a breakfast burrito. They have both here, thankfully! I've always known they were here for a while, and I finally remembered I wanted to try it out. They were packed and had multiple customers inside, so I opted for using their digital kiosk so I can calmly browse their menu. I got a Hot Vanilla Latte and their Breakfast Burrito (Egg, cheddar, hash brown, bacon) for myself, and a BLTA (Bacon, tomato, greens, avocado) sandwich for my fiancé to-go. They have an awesome, well-thought-out menu. It's not too overloaded with options that I couldn't make up my mind (like me most of the time), and had everything for anyone who wanted a drink and a meal. Everything was ready in about 10 minutes. They also had comfy tables to the right of their entrance if we wanted to sit down and eat, or sit and wait for our pick-up order. Their breakfast burrito tasted great, I just wish it was just a smidge bigger for the price, especially since Azusa has a lot of huge burrito options for less of a wallet burn. Buuuuttt that may be because I spoil myself with huge burritos I can't finish when I want to treat myself. It still tasted great, though! Their take on the BLT was their BLTA with bacon, tomato, greens, and avocado, which I thought my fiancé would like, but he is much more of a classics guy and said he wished they made the classic bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwich he wanted with mayo. Its a preference thing, and we just have to try other things here! I definitely want to come back here and try one of their lattes again with cold foam this time, and one of their waffles!
