Excellent environment. Beautifully built building. Longtime Lockport resident. Super Bowl Sunday, expected long wait for drinks(no big deal). This has quickly become one of my favorite place in Lockport to go for a bite or to drink. They have a wonderful beer menu and several drink specials that make it worth while. It's fabulous all over the board. They have a rooftop bar that overlooks the train tracks but that's okay because it's a welcome city vibe that has been lacking in the area for quite some time. On Wednesday's they have half off bottles of wine as well as $6 burgers, which are delicious! The flavor combos are unique and wonderfully cooked! The bar that you walk into has a large amount of seating around the bar and an after hours menu with pulled pork nachos that will make you feel like you've entered the happiest place on earth. Get the pulled pork nachos. A lot of comments on here complain about the staff but I have never had a problem they are always friendly and helpful with any questions and even mention upcoming events to embers in the near future! It's got a great room to host a party if you so choose and the manager has always come out to greet us whenever we have gone which is sweet. Three of us went there last week for lunch. Service was helpful and friendly. Food was excellent. The menu for food was rather small but some very interesting and delicious selection. Lots of beer selections and when I asked about one the waitress explained and offered me a sample. I have been to several trap houses and microbrew places and the beer selection was quite nice with many to pick from. I had the pressed coffee and it was really outstanding. Did not see it on the menu but would get it again for sure. As we sat there I forgot I was in Lockport for a minute. It is great to have a tap house here with a reasonably priced menu. Four words from a restaurant professional. New chef...New GM! Great potential but bad execution both service & food wise. Food is mediocre at best & lacks creativity. People will give it a shot at first because it is the new place but due to bad service & food quality for the prices they will not be back & hate to say will most likely close. We have been in multiple times & there is an obvious lack of leadership & management presence. The price structure is fine just not for the quality & service that accompanies. Great job with build out & beer list & hope they figure it out fast because this could be the catalyst that brings people to downtown Lockport & sparks future restaurant Ventures that will help create real growth in the area. I REALLY want to see this place succeed..Lockport needs it. That being said my wife & I ventured back again for a couple after work St. Paddy's day cocktails. I showed up before my wife & got a seat at the bar and waited for over 5 minutes for service with two bartenders, a bar back & a gentleman I assume was "the manager" all present. At no time during our visit was it overly busy which is disappointing but maybe indicative of the quality of food & service. One bartender was more interested in texting (looked absolutely miserable and had no desire to be there) & "the manager" stood in the corner of the bar watching the March Madness games. The only value he added was changing the channel on the tv's until the owner showed up. Then he hopped behind the bar & actually pretended to work by pouring some beers but walked by our empty glasses 5 times that were pushed to the front of the bar to signal we were done & possibly need refills which we did. When we got our bill we were charged appropriately for my wife's beer, only problem is it was supposed to be a 22oz pour and she got a 16oz glass. When we asked about it the bartender had no idea it was to be a 22oz pour and took another 5 minutes to wait for the manager to adjust the bill. We learned not to eat there and thought just having drinks would be safe but there is an obvious lack of leadership, real management presence and attention to detail. Never were we asked about ordering food or told about any of the features for the day. Everyone there is just going through the motions. I've been here a few times. Food is a little over priced and service can be hit or miss but the drinks are good. Make sure you check if there's an event going on when you're there because if you're expecting to have conversation with the person sitting next to you it could be an issue. read more

Awesome spot to take friends or family for decent pub food, good atmosphere and A+ beers. Large space inside with a cool rooftop. Huge beer selection for a place in the burbs. The place prides itself on its beer selection with many unique brews local and from the top breweries. Service was great and they treated the kids awesome which makes this a great family destination, could use a fruit cup for kids. Decent food with a good craft beer selection. There are a few vegetarian and vegan options, as well. The menu is changed up every few months, but there have consistently been at least a couple tasty veg options. Plenty of good food for meat-eaters, too. read more

My mom and I went here just this past weekend for dinner, and it was fantastic! We had the roasted brussel sprouts appetizer which was HUGE; they were roasted just right. Then we had the gnocchi with marinara and grilled chicken, and rib tips with the cornbread cake. Both entrees came piping hot and were incredibly good. We did not have dessert, we were both stuffed and took half our dinners home. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating, the prices were good and the location was convenient. Walked in the door at 1150. No line and not crowded. Waited to get carded and then told "sit where you want ". After sitting at a table for 20 mins the "door man" comes up and says " there's no servers. Just go to bar ". So I do and try to order food but am told the kitchen closed at 12. I asked if I could just get chips and salsa. They said they were not allowed. Poor service for an empty bar. read more

I had an over all great experience here. My friends and I stopped by for dinner at the end of a bar crawl today. Our server was Jessica and she was wonderful. I ordered a margarita and was kind of skeptical considering it's mostly a beer bar, and it was the best margarita I've had in a long time. I had the breakfast burger and it was delicious! Are there last night and had a 6 dollar breakfast burger and fries that would have been good at any price. The service was also excellent. Been to Embers about half dozen times since they opened and it has been hit or miss for food. Burgers are excellent and always a hit. However, often their specials tend to be misses. I often feel they use their specials to experiment rather than giving something outstanding at a great price. If you want a sure thing, stick to the menu. read more

I have such mixed emotions about this place.... No one knows a thing about beer, yet the beer selection is amazing. Food used to be 5 stars but now barely three, their panini style sandwiches are now being served on Texas toast?!? Talk about taking away all the flavor! I was open minded to the change and ordered it anyway, but barely wanted to eat it. So disappointing. Came here right when it opened, and always sat at the bar. There were servers creepily staring at us from every corner of the building (obviously overstuffed), but that problem was fixed over the months. I've never seen this place too busy. I came here on a date once and sat at a table, our service was slow and mediocre. Big potential, just waiting on those capable results. They have their beverage director listed as being cicerone certified, but should get AT LEAST the whole bar staff up to par, just saying. It's embarrassing to serve such great beers and no bartender to describe them. read more

What a beautiful restaurant and great patio! Service needs much improvement. Our experience went from good to just plain bad. We sat on the patio and ordered a drink and appetizer, at this point doing good. Watching table next to us trying to get water, it never came, she never got her second glass of wine and they gave up. Another table I watched the woman get up with her menu trying to get waiter"s attention, until he followed her back to the table to take her order. Meanwhile we are trying to get another drink and the table next to us is trying to get their bill. At this point no dishes are being cleared away. I finally was able to get another glass of wine and we are patiently waiting for our entree, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, finally at 1 hour we decided that we were patient enough. The sad thing is that I ordered a Salad and my husband ordered a burger. Nothing to complicated so I thought! We left our table, went downstairs to speak to a manager, who apologized for it taking so long, he asked me what can I do? the kitchen is backed up. How about hiring more servers. It was our first visit and our last visit for awhile. I might give them another chance next year. The kicker is that I was looking for a venue for a private party, how can you have a private party for 100 people when they could'nt even take care of our party of 2. read more

Besides the fact that it wasn't busy, we waited much to long to be seated. The waitress was not good at all. Drinks were never refilled, I had to give my son my water. Then they ran half of our parties food out, then around 15 minutes passed before the rest of the food arrived. She didn't do a check back until the food was almost gone (and my friend was not happy with her "baked" mac and cheese. So she didn't even get to eat. By the time everything was said and done, the kids were beyond ready to leave (and ready for naps). We did talk to a manager and she did take 20% off our bill. It was just an all over terrible experience. I do try to have as much patience as I can for servers, since I was a server before my career, but this was awful. The only positive was since it was the week of the tree lighting ceremony in Lockport, they had a table to decorate a stocking that kept the kids busy while we had to wait for the food. read more

This is one of my new go to places when my husband and I can't decide where to eat during the week. Because I am gluten free, often I get disappointed with "salad" being the only gluten free choice. This was not the case! This place was the first I've been at in this area where I could get a GF flatbread! It was amazing! Although my food options are great, I can't say the same for the service. Unfortunately the staff is very slow and has gotten my husband order wrong on multiple occasions because the waiter didn't write it down. Overall, the food has outweighed the service! Terrible experience. The pork nachos we ordered were literally cold. It took ten minutes to find someone to replace them. They sent out new nachos and we were told the manager "would take care of it" on the bill. We ordered more food and drinks and we happy with that until the bill came with the nachos included. I let a male manager know who happened to be walking by who simply walked away without a word and rude female manager immediately with an attitude came out and said "they took care of it" by replacing the nachos. Really? I just expect my pork to be cooked. I don't understand the rudeness. I'm never coming back and I'll make sure I tell everyone I know. read more

We decided to go here for my birthday dinner because of the rooftop. Our party included my husband, my 2 small children, my parents and myself. The space itself is nice. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't horribly busy. We didn't wait for a table. We sat down and waited a while to be greeted. There was one server on the entire rooftop - about 12, 4 top tables. 8 of which were full, I'd say. I found out later it was only the server's 3rd day on the job. She has to go up and down stairs to get drinks and food. Anyone would give slow service in this situation! The food was decent. We asked her to put my 2 yr old's order in first and it did come pretty quickly (thank goodness). Our food wasn't too far behind. My husband and dad ordered the smoked chicken but we were told they ran out and there was only one order left - on a not very busy Sunday...the food was decent- my burger was overdone, but flavorful. My mom had the pork chop, which was really good. Dad liked the smoked chicken and my husband opted for the bourbon glazed salmon. He liked it. We were going to order dessert, but figured it would take too long, so decided against it. Not a bad experience, but they should definitely rethink having one server on the rooftop on nice summer evenings. We saw one couple order drinks then left bc it was so slow. read more

First time at Embers tonight. Not impressed with the whole experience. We waited to be seated for 15 minutes when there were several clearly open tables in sight. Had to ask for a drink menu and they only brought one. Server tripped up the stairs and spilled our drinks (Red wine and craft beer). That happens, I get that, but the follow up was terrible. No Manager came over when our clothes were clearly splashed and stained with red wine. A couple of other servers stopped by to help clean up and one kindly brought us extra napkins and club soda (upon request). I would expect a Manager to come over and apologize and offer to comp our drinks. Nothing. Food was average to below average. Definitely not a chef in the kitchen. We shared the pretzel appetizer, margherita pizza and Mac and cheese. Very basic presentation on plain white plastic plates. The beer cheese dip has hardly any cheesy flavor, the noodles were stuck together in Mac and cheese (same bland cheese sauce). We had to ask for plates to put our food on for sharing. We held on looking forward to dessert only to find out they were out of creme brûlée which we wanted from the beginning of our meal. Settled for brownie ala mode. Simple brownie in a bowl with vanilla ice cream on top. No chocolate sauce drizzle, no whipped cream or ganache - basic barely warm homemade brownie in a plastic bowl. Nothing special or restaurant worthy. This was also a birthday dinner! The server knew that and did/said nothing. To end the night the server did say he "got" the drinks off our bill. (They should have offered to pay for our dry cleaning to get the red wine out of our clothes... ) He also asked us to settle up our bill because he was going to leave. This place needs to invest in training their staff to create a customer focused experience and work on menu quality. I would not recommend this place or go back for a meal. read more

We have tried this restaurant three different times. Once on a Friday evening, another on Sunday at lunch and again on a Sunday evening. The food is always good.....but the service and the kitchen is VERY slow. We resorted yesterday to bringing our drinks up to the bar to get refills. We sat in the front of the restaurant with two other large groups. After the order was placed, the waitress disappeared and we never heard from her again. We were told that she was also waiting on tables upstairs on the private balcony. Makes sense I suppose.....If you want to go, I would highly suggest sitting at the bar. read more
