First time coming here after contemplating after years of debating on wanting to come here but I visited during the lunch hour and it's honestly pretty quiet but the bar is full of great, friendly locals. The food here is absolutely incredible! The BLT deluxe and fries were worth the price. People here are definitely social. When there's not a game on, they do play some great movies. They do have video gaming too if you want to try your luck at winning some some money. Cool features about this bar unlike anything is that you can buy cigarettes here and you can buy lottery tickets as well! It's a family ran bar and it's worth supporting a small business! read more

Excellent place to grab a cheeseburger for lunch. Nice bartenders who take care of you if you're nice to them and the beer is always cold. Not a very scenic place, but the outdoor beer garden is one of the only ones in downtown Lockport , so it's a great place to spend a summer's evening. My boyfriend and I stopped in at Paradise Bay this past Saturday night. We were there for just a short time. In buying our first round, my boyfriend stood at the bar trying to order for an unreasonably long time for the amount of business that was there. In fact, the business was slow enough that the bartender chose to close early not long after. But a female bartender with dark hair and glasses was busy chit-chatting, serving others around my boyfriend and talking on the phone to be capable of providing decent service. A card was given at that time to start a tab for our drinks. He eventually went back up for a second round--this time consisting of his beer and a water for me. Shortly after that round we were trying to close out the tab and leave. While waiting to close the tab, the two female bartenders stood by the register looking through whatever cards they had in front of them and looking very puzzled at each other. The dark haired bartender, whom has a very bad and confrontational attitude, questions him if he is sure that he started a tab. Naturally he became quickly irritated as he learns that his card is missing, he began to speak louder and get upset...anyone in his position would. This was his debit and he immediately went to his phone to try to lock it. The site was temporarily unavailable due to being "under maintenance". And rather than being helpful and trying to defuse the situation, this bartender got loud at him and instantly led with advising him he is "welcomed to leave" and almost washing her hands of the missing debit card. I then intervened and explained to her that we were trying to leave but needed his card to be located. I also recommended that she stop shouting and being so disrespectful towards him as he is the customer and this was her mess to rectify. This bartender continued to shout at us and treat us with absolutely no respect. She eventually came out of the kitchen with his card and was very insulting and patronizing in how she spoke to him, with absolutely no explanation or apology. What was his card doing in the kitchen?? She clearly has a skewed understanding of how to treat a customer and the idea that she basically works for tips. There was a not very tall, but very overweight man with a beard who evidently plays the roll of a "bouncer". He was quick to start telling us to leave and never come back. Never once showing any understanding for a situation that the bartender was responsible for causing and quickly escalated with her bad attitude. Neither of these individuals should be working in the capacity they are. They do not know how to treat customers. Once all was settled with the tab, my boyfriend and I left. We waited on the street-side of the sidewalk, waiting for an Uber. As we were waiting, I was trying to keep him calm and distracted with unrelated conversation and I began scrolling through pictures on my phone from my daughters birthday party to show him. Minutes into this, the "bouncer" came outside shouting at us telling us that we were trespassing by standing against the planter on the street-side of the sidewalk. This same bartender then came running up shouting at me, waving her phone, telling me that she was calling the police because I was "looking at pictures of her kids"...WHAT?? I do not know this woman from the man on the moon and she seems to believe I have pictures of her kids in my phone?? At this point I was convinced that she was not only delusional, but also out of control. The bouncer began yelling at my boyfriend because in all the confusion inside, he had walked out with his bottle. This bottle was practically empty with the exception of possible backwash. It was an honest oversight. There was nothing in that bottle worth trying to walk out with; and I know this for a fact because I waited until his beer was done before suggesting we close out the tab and leave. There was no malicious intent involved in that other than being distracted with panic of his debit. This bartender and her bouncer companion were so far out of line with all that took place, especially considering this was entirely her error. This is on the bar, not the customer. These two employees have ruined the enjoyment of this establishment that I have been frequenting for over twelve years. I have been coming to this bar for both food and drinks for this amount of time, I have attended for multiple events--Never again. I will share my story with anyone who will listen. There is no excuse for what took place last night. Paradise Bay should be embarrassed to know that this is how two of their employees treat customers. Received a very defensive response from the owner on Google Reviews. Did not look into the incident or viewing any video footage. Spend your money at any of the other bars in the area. read more

"It's like coming home," I exclaimed after stepping through the threshold of Paradise Bay last Saturday evening. It had been about five years since I visited my old haunt and it made me smile to see that not much had changed. For years, we spent summery nights in the beer garden, throwing down apple pie shots (the best shots on earth) between beers while we competed in bags tournaments and hung with our friends. And that was exactly the case upon our return last weekend. The bar isn't much to look at. The decor is not original nor is it particularly well executed. It is a basement bar with a tiki/carribean theme. However, their prized possession is their awesome outdoor area. Their "beer garden" is more of a pavered courtyard below street level. In fact, there is a wide stairway leading up to the street so patrons can enter the courtyard directly during the summer. There are two sets of really nice beanbag boxes and if you leave your ID at the bar, you can rent the bags to play for free. The courtyard is actually clean and far more updated than the look/feel of the bar or the building that houses it. The tables and chairs are all of the plastic patio variety but it is actually kind of fitting. The apple pie shot is definitely worth a tasting. At only $1 a shot, it is a fairly cheap crowd pleasure for buying "rounds." Will it get you completely drunk? Nah. But holy cow, it is the best tasting shot in town! read more

Not "just another Lockport dive"... THE Lockport Dive! That's exactly why I like it! The service is good, but slow when they're busy- just like ANY bar. I have had many meals (and apple pie shots) there- and my favorite has to be their hot corned beef sandwich. Delicious! Also, since my house has no basement, it makes an awesome tornado rally point. My daughter and her friend went last night, and they had 2 beers total. Due to an emergency, they left quickly, and she did not close out her tab. She went back today to take care of her bill and retrieve her card. Besides the 2 beers, there were 10 shots on the bill. She explained that they were not hers. The bartender refused to listen, and just rudely said "you sure you don't remember?". Ive always enjoyed the food and prices at Paradise. But after being charged for items she did not consume and the way my daughter was talked to by someone who is a representative of this establishment, not ever going back. read more

This is the best downtown spot in Lockport!! The staff is great, for food is terrific (especially the fish and the burgers), and drinks are a fair price with a huge variety for such a small bar. Come for the 1.00 tacos on Mondays! 7-21-14 One employee in the bar. I felt sorry for her. She did her best. Maybe 6 people sitting at the bar. No tables inside to dine at, So we sat outside in the heat, with flies all over. We were a party of 5. Waited 45 minutes for 8 tacos filled with a Tablespoon of meat! Waited 10 minutes for a drink. Only served once. Ordered 2 orders of greasy chips and salsa. All served in paper trays. Waitress / bartender / cook said they ran out of meat ,so they had to cook more. I should've taken a picture. No napkins, no silverware, no service. Sorry, but we are not coming back. Not going to recommend this place. If your going to sit and drink yourself into a stooper, this is your place! They have a bunch of cheap ugly parrot decorations and somehow they think they have a cool hip caribean theme bar. The kitchen looks scary and I would not feed a dog what likely comes from there. KARENS WRATH. #YouAreNotFromAroundHereSoYouShouldLeave So let Me tell you a story. First, the disclaimers: The Bar and staff, super nice, really enjoyed the facilities, its a nice urban touch in downtown Lockport, reasonable prices and good food. Patrons - not so nice, at least some of them. Actual quote from - 'I want to see your Manager KAREN' :"you guys are not from around here, so you should leave" (btw, I have lived in Homer last 9 years and used my ID as proof to her, how stupid of Me) . Shout out to the bearded bouncer, and a frequent patron Angel, Off duty security officer with very authoritative jacket (thanks for your text) she witnessed the entire encounter. Soooooo: My childhood friend from Northern suburbs visited Me, and we decided to see what happens downtown Lockport on Saturdays. After a 30 min. stint at the Studio , We went to Paradise Bay Bar, and befriended Angel - a true Angel that started talking/drinking with us. At this time a local ugly sweater / beer run snowed up. About 20 mid 30's Lockportian couples that celebrated holidays, cool, no problem there. But a lot of these ladies had few to many at this point, and quite frankly were pretty hammered. Stage enters Kelly in red pants and a nice white fur jacket ( She Introduced herself when we first met, as she sat down by our table univited, at the smoking lounge). So Kelly, having few to many, keeps staring at my very good looking friend ( yes, I have to admit that he has the goods, ffff u Gustav !!!) This lady stares my friend down for good 30 min, but she is at that point of intoxication that she stops mid sentences when talked to, so yeah, way the F out there. Thank god they have cameras there. In the middle of this, my friends beer got slapped out of his hand by the member of the sweter club crowd ( not sure if the guy meant it, as he apologized and reimbursed my friend). But this did not end there. Kelly kept following us to each area we went to. She approached my friend twice asking for a light, after which she gave him a stare down before walking off, seriously WTF ? And then, her boyfriend noticed , This is the best part. Kelly got caught staring at My friend, so she told her boyfriend that My friend showed a lewd gesture to her. A stockier girlfriend of Kelly - KAREN (not her real name) overheard Kelly's interaction with her boyfriend, and decided to face the abusers (us). Me and my friend, got approached by raging KAREN, her green sweater boyfriend, an incoherent Kelly and her boyfriend. Keep in mind that "catch a predator" KAREN admitted that no one have seen my friend performing a rude gesture, just Kelly. As Kelly was pretty much out of it, and trying to stand straight, her stockier girlfriend proceeded to prosecute the case. "Are you guys from around here ?!?!" And " you should leave" coupled with " you insulted my friend" and "Im offended". I can swear Karen ( not her real name) kept asking to see my manager. We backed off, with Angel acting as a mediator. We kept avoiding them. Unfortunately the sotckier KAREN kept following us, bumping in to Me when I was ordering drinks and warning other patrons "watch these guys, they are shifty", what does that even mean ? I don't sell fake car titles out of my trunk. Fortunately the bouncer intervened, and it got as nice as it was before KAREN'S WRATH. I tried to talk to Karen's husband, saying an impartial local patron witnessed all of this. Unfortunately the response I got was "I believe my wife" - KAREN !!!! pure hearsay on camera. If the owner reads this, I would love to pay $$$ for Saturday Nov. 30th 10:30pm to 1pm surveillance footage, it's pure gold. read more

Since I'm well out of my twenties, I don't do bars anymore - except for Paradise Bay. "The Bay" is like hanging out in your best friend's basement bar - and that's a good thing. No drama, no posturing, no d-bags jockeying for position. Just good, inexpensive drinks in a relaxed environment populated with regular folks. I rated this 3 stars because the night life aspect of the bar really sucks.. If you are looking for over served locals who may want to start a fight or run their mouth to you, then I would def try this out. My 3 stars go all toward the food in the afternoon. I tried the blackened chicken sandwich and the poor boy and they were both really good (cole slaw is good too). I guess I would recommend this place if you want some good bar food, but try to leave before 6 or 7 o'clock because that's when some interesting folks start rolling in.... read more

I absolutely love coming to Paradise Bay in downtown Lockport! The staff is always super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious and extremely well priced. The draft beers are always super cold and their apple pie shots are to die for. While the atmosphere on the inside may look rather overcrowded, it adds to the uniqueness that makes Paradise Bay a one of a kind place! I visited this place on a Monday afternoon for a late lunch and an early happy hour. When you first walk in the place it looks like a Jimmy Buffet themed bar that would be in some old hippie's basement. The stools are old and tattered. It looks like a bar that might have been happening back in the late 70's or early 80's. It's your typical dive bar, but it has a charm to it. The beer garden also has the same tacky/silly decorations, but still very comfortable. Again, the stools are cruddy, but there are a few decent speakers to hear music, and a couple of flat screens. It's definitely a place to chill out, and have a relaxed good time. Aside from the run down appearance, and the rusty stools, the place is quite fun. Come as you are. My guest and I were wearing t-shirts and jeans, and the other folks at the bar were in their sports attire. A few people were dressed nicer than others, but no one seems to care what you're wearing or what your style is. It's just that kind of place... The age demographic is great too. I myself am in my mid twenties, but the place had everyone from the ages of 21-65. You gotta appreciate a place where everyone can have a good time regardless of age or appearances. I actually enjoyed the cheesy atmosphere. It's fun to look around at the old fashioned beer signs, and check out memorabilia. The theme is Floridian. It's fun in the summer, but as a Midwesterner I could totally appreciate this place in the dead of winter. The drink specials were decent. Ciders, Mike's Hard Lemonade, and Twisted Tea were all 2 bucks a bottle. The drinks that aren't on special are still very affordable too. The food specials were one dollar tacos. I didn't try them, but they looked good enough. I had the blackened chicken Philly sandwich. It was surprisingly very good. The chicken was tender, and they didn't skimp on the veggies or cheese. Very yummy. The fries and coleslaw were pretty good too. All in all, this place has solid bar food. Nothing fancy, but it's still yummy and affordable. Another great thing about this place is that it has a juke box. People can play the music they want to hear, which is much better than some XM radio station that plays the same top 20 hits over and over again.
