Delicious small little pub. The food was fresh and so good. The fried chicken was a fresh piece of chicken fried to perfection with a delicious chipotle Mayo and pickled onions. The burger was cooked just right and the cheese curds were delicious. It is very small inside, but cozy. They had some good drinks too.

For being in the middle of nowhere, this place is surprisingly good; no jokes here. Prior to walking in and by the views around us, we thought we were going to have microwave fish sticks and stale bread. When we walked it, it was very nice, World Cup was on, and we had ourselves some super fresh and tasty chips and salsa. I ordered a salad and it was smothered with grilled bbq chicken. I'm not saying anything about the bbq, but that salad was massive and top notch. I'll have to say this is probably the best bar/gastropub in at least 5-10 miles. If you're ever stuck out there, then do yourselves a favor and eat there.

Had to drive to Peoria for work and my guy tagged along. On drive back home we were hungry and decided to check reviews for a bite. This place had great reviews so we stopped. There really wasn't much to choose from to be honest. Definitely a local hang out spot. It's got some character, warm vibe and cozy - not your typical dive. Our waitress was really friendly. If you're a beer fanatic, they have a pretty great selection of IPA's, drafts, bottles. I'm not a big beer drinker, but ordered the Elysian Space Dust IPA - the name really called out to me and it was good!! Beer buzz! Some crafty cocktails and large wine selection too. Happy hour Tue-Fri 3-6pm. They even serve breakfast, how bout that? Menu is above average pub food. House specials like french onion soup, bluegill, sirloin steak, tuna, wings, wraps, crab cakes, fish tacos, brisket, fried chicken, salads, sandwiches, burgers. Had to try the fried avocado app. Meh. Small avocado pieces, batter was over salty. Overrated. Our server said it was great. I'd pass on this. Really wanted the Bistro truffle burger..doesn't that sound delicious? I thought so too. Black truffle, fresh ground angus short rib and chuck. Our waitress said they make it in house. So when I ordered it, she came back and said they were out and no longer serving it and they needed to update the menu. Huh? but you just said....? Wait...whaat? No truffle burger for me! I was bummed and went with the Remington burger. Cheddar and fried onion ring with their 'secret sauce'. Asked for it on the side and it was all over my burger. Had a hot kick too. It overpowered the whole damn burger. Burger itself was average. We shared Hardwood smoked wings tossed in garlic parmesan & carolina sauce. They were decent. Couldn't really detect 'smokiness'. Carolina sauce has a kick for those of you who can't handle heat...made me glisten a little too. They should state heat levels on their sauces. He had the Smokey beer brisket sandwich, sliced brisket with slaw. Not super tender and somewhat dry. With minimal choices in surrounding areas, this place isn't bad. Our server was nice, but getting our check and waiting for her to return took at least 25 min. Wasn't packed, but started to get LOUD. Lots of great reviews here, wonder if they're written by locals. OK eats and not a bad place to try if your in the area, or just want to guzzle down some beer and cocktails.

I was here for a few hours and all I managed to take was this.

If you're at all close by and need either a beer or food, you go here. In Malta, options are few. Sure, you can go to Dekalb or Sycamore down the road and grab whatever chain you'd like. But, this is a gem. The term gastropub has a negative connotation for me. I picture trendy, overpriced, and douchy bars. Remington's is the opposite in terms of atmosphere. Small town, low key, but clean. The service is casual and the place has maybe a dozen tables plus bar. The food is great. The smoked wings are unreal. I got mine with a dry rub and a couple sauces on the side. The beer list will satisfy anyone looking for a craft beer out here. Honestly, I drink a ton of craft beer and this place has an insane list. Beers like PseudoSue, 1Z Enuff, and more highlight the list. In summary: great food, not trendy, low key, good beer, go here.

We have eaten here several times. I was surprised I hadn't logged a review, but am happy to…read morecorrect that error on my part! This has a nice restaurant vibe - nice tables, tablecloths, art on the walls, good lighting, nice, quiet carpeted spaces. There is a lot to like. We made a reservation, were greeted at the door and then promptly seated. Water came out quickly, along with the menus and the wine list. The wine list was a bit light in that all the bottles were typically lower cost. With such a wide variety of food on the menu, it deserves a bit more depth and some better wines to be included. Not that the wines that were included were bad - they were not. They are just at the very low entry end of the market. Picking up a few from Justin, Stag's Leap, and others in the $80 range would help enhance the restaurant's list. We both ordered entrees, which came with the either soup or salad - we both elected to get salads, where I selected a Caesar and my wife had a standard salad. The Caesar had plenty of parmesan cheese and croutons. The dressing was a bit thin - traditional Caesar dressings are cream based, this one seemed to be light on the garlic and anchovies. No anchovies were available, so it's kind of a light "Caesar." The regular salad my wife had was good - she enjoyed it. For the main course, I ordered their Filet Mignon, medium rare with a baked potato. The server asked if I wanted butter and sour cream, which I did and which was provided. The filet is provided in a cabernet reduction. This may have been a bit much, it was hard to taste the filet with the reduction. The filet came with broccoli which was steamed and was nicely done. The baked potato was cooked through (as expected, and worked well with the butter and sour cream. My wife enjoyed her Shrimp and Grits - the shrimp was cooked quite nicely and seasoned well. We were concerned about the meal size, so we skipped an appetizer, and it was a good thing since she took half of her shrimp and grits home. We were not rushed out of our table, and had a good time.

I'm working on building my iron levels, so Florentino's got the nod. We were seated in a booth promptly when we arrived at around 5:15 pm. Within a minute, filled and iced water glasses arrived and then in another minute, a loaf of bread with butter. The bread had good texture, and worked well with the butter. We thought about the wine and my wife ordered their Veal Marsala, which worked with the Josh Cabernet that I wanted to order. Again corkage fees are quite reasonable. The salads came out - my wife enjoyed her wedge salad, and I enjoyed my Caesar (albiet still without anchovies!) with a solid dressing and crouton mix. As we finished the salads, the main courses arrived. My wife enjoyed her Veal Marsala, but couldn't finish it. I enjoyed my filet - it was better seasoned but still needed just a touch of salt to bring out the flavor. The room is still loud - they could use some baffles over head. The lighting has a variety of light fixtures from the ceiling. The bar still has 4 TV screens (which don't disrupt conversation at the tables and boothes. The seats are quite comfortable. This is improved from our last visit. Hopefully, they maintain this effort.

Lord, where to start…read more... The reviews were mixed at best, but we haven't been here in a while so we figured we'd give it another chance. Walking in and seeing new trim around the windows - okay, good sign. Also seeing a paint can on a table....? Okay, not a good sign. We decided to try this place again because we saw a sizzling steak on their roadside reader board as we drove back into town from the south. The last few times we went here, it was sandwiches only, so maybe the new owners were moving to the next level? Inside, you see a sign Salt 7. The bill reads C.C.S. Golf LLC. The menu - Salt 251. Confused yet? We ordered their Lobster Dip Appetizer. The photo only shows half of it. My wife said "I couldn't find any Lobster in it." Neither could I. It was tasty, but if you say Lobster Dip, shouldn't you find some Lobster in it? From there, we waited. And waited. And waited. And finally, the waitress / bartender who was working the restaurant by herself (while the two owners were doing something else) stopped by and took our drink and entrée orders. For drinks, I ordered a Manhattan, and my wife ordered a Gin Martini. The combination waitress / bartender admitted she had to look that one up. Both drinks were okay, I've had better Manhattans. For entrees, my wife ordered their Grilled Shrimp Scampi and I had their 8 ounce Garlic Sirloin. This took a fair amount of time, around 20 minutes to plate. Both dishes came with a nice, fresh salad, with dressing in a small cup on the side. Given the size of the salad, they needed to provide more dressing. I was scraping the rest of it out of the small plastic serving cup. On to the entrees: Shrimp Scampi That's a pretty regular dish - grilled shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and white wine and served in that sauce. The grilled shrimp was there with some seasoning, but the rest which makes it Scampi wasn't there. Plus, the fresh vegetables were in a teriyaki sauce, which was sweet and of course didn't blend well with the Shrimp and it's seasoning. It came with a baked potato that my wife said "It must have had a bad spot - a chunk was missing. Whaaaaatttt? Never had that in all the baked potatoes we have had. Not a good first. I was there for the steak, so I ordered their 8 ounce garlic sirloin, medium rare. That should be a warm, red center. I could see the garlic on the sirloin - but the steak was well-done. Gray, hot, chewy (chewy chewy), and I had to use steak sauce to make it palatable. Now two people who we think were the owners come by (they didn't introduce themselves) and ask is everything okay, of course we do what everyone does, we fib - yes, everything's fine. They apparently don't watch Bar Rescue - their combination bartender / waitress could have used some help serving or covering the bar, but nope, she didn't get any help. She didn't complain, she just did her best. I did order their Tuxedo Bomb Dessert, which was actually pretty good. A slice of chocolate cake, covered with chocolate mousse, covered with vanilla mousse, with a chocolate coating drizzled in vanilla icing with some whipped cream. It was the best part of the dinner. Of course, I failed to get a picture of that. Argh.

Unfortunately they were out of the Pretzel Bites, but they offered to put a side of the beer cheese with the White Fish Bites. We also ordered the Truffle Fries (which were some of the BEST we've ever had!!) We both ordered burgers, which were pretty good. I ordered the Pit Master, which was actually a little too spicy for me. However, we traded (my fiancé got the Roadhouse) and it was delish. They've been super accommodating and we can't wait to have our rehearsal dinner here in a few weeks!

Other than having to deal with a freight train that stopped on the tracks right as we were trying to get to the restaurant from the theater, and having to go way out to the west end of town to get around it, everything about our experience was superb! I'm pretty sure we were seated by the owner, who was amazing to talk to. You could tell she loved what she did and what they provide to their customers. She put us in the charge of the bartender, who brought our drinks, took our orders, and checked on us regularly throughout the meal, even though she was doing double duty. We had a large lunch, so we weren't going to eat much for dinner. As soon as I read the menu I realized I was going to have a hard time deciding, but I love cinnamon ice cream, so I knew I needed to leave enough room for dessert. I ended up ordering the grilled cheese, which came with bacon (hold the tomato), and the homemade chips as my side. Everything was delicious. I brought half of my meal home, and it was just as delicious when reheated with my air fryer a few days later. My husband had the Acres Pretzel, which was huge and yummy. (I had a bite to try it!) The cheese sauce with it was thinner than expected, but very good. We started out with a Manhattan for me and some Lena Brewing caramel pecan coffee stout for him. Mine was perfectly crafted, and I took a sip of his, which was also yummy. In addition to my cinnamon ice cream, we each had a dessert drink. He had the Chocolate Caramel Kiss, and I had the Banana Bread. Again, very yummy. The cost of all of this came to under $75, which we thought was marvelous. Coming out from the city, the prices here are definitely more reasonable and much appreciated! We have this restaurant on our radar now, so anytime we are out this way again, we will head there. We are already making plans to come out and see a show next summer, if not before that. To the owner and all the other staff, thanks for such a lovely experience! You have a wonderful establishment!
