I haven't tried the sushi or bar menu but the steaks for me always turn out to be a perfect medium rare with a nice crust. The steak is better than I have experienced so far at a J Ruby's . I commend the service at this restaurant, however that's about it. The food is outrageously expensive for being so mediocre. I have been twice and will not be returning. I got sushi the first time I went and it was alright, but I've had much better at a lot cheaper prices. The second time I went I got the filet and I had to send it back because of how overcooked it was. It was cooked correctly when it came the second time, but nothing on my plate wowed me. Great alternative to the usual Cincinnati steakhouses. Great service, amazing food, and unique preparation compared to most of the other local spots. Wife is vegan and they were more than happy to whip her up a vegan dish on the spot. Decent wine selection and great ambiance. Definitely one of our "go to" restaurants. From the nightly bar specials to 1/2 price sushi night to a formal dinner in the dining room the Embers staff never fails to disappoint. Steaks and sushi done right and a lobster tail that is the best in any restaurant in the City. The manager, Michael, is always visible in both the bar and the restaurant. He is hospitality at its best. If you want some great service and a knowledgeable server, ask to sit in Stan's area. While we have had nothing but exceptional service, Stan always makes us feel like we are welcome family coming home. Also, do yourself a favor and save room for some Oreo donuts, Salted Carmel Chocolate cake or the Banana Panini. This girl HATES bananas and I will eat it every time my husband orders it!! It's unfortunate that a such a great ambiance should be combined with less than substandard food. The spicy tuna roll ordered came out quickly, but it was room temperature, not cold with an abundance of rice. The rainbow roll listed for $17 was less than ever expected in a fine dining restaurant. Ridiculously sliced fish on top so thin you could see through it. The small plate of steak yakatori came out under room temperature, however the flavor was great with the smoked avocado. I would pass on eating at Embers due to their lack care to even ask about our experience by the staff....And let's be realistic, warm raw fish is breeding ground for bacteria! read more

We loved this restaurant. We had Hawaiian Roll appetizer, filet mignon, and oreo donuts dessert. This may have been the best meal we ever had. The filet was cooked perfectly and paired very well with sauces, gnocchi and mushrooms. It was a perfect combination. The service was very nice and attentive. This is a restaurant that caters to an elite diners. The food is average at best. The waiters are friendly and and make your dining experience great but the food is way way overpriced and not of the highest quality for the prices they charge, not bad but average at best. I recently dined here with a friend and the experience was quite lack luster. I came on the recommendation that the food was to die for and, while the scallops were delicious, they were not good enough to make up for the poor service. The bar was very loud so we were sat in the back corner booth. I thought this was a great gesture until we were ignored for most of the meal. I think he may have been put off that we were not ordering drinks as she had been traveling and I had no desire to have wine. He had little to stay about the menu as well. We ordered two appetizers, a salad, and two entrees. We were served water, but ordered hot tea that took 15 minutes to come out. When we asked for a spoon to stir in the sugar, which took about five minutes, they brought us a serving spoon. Eventually a different waiter noticed my friend's dismay and brought her a tea spoon. I was hoping this would have been better, but I will not go back on my own accord. There are many other great restaurants in Cincinnati to get a steak or sushi. read more

So unless you are upper class and wearing a $500 suit then you aren't going to get very good service. My boyfriend, 2 year old, and I happened upon this place while we were shopping for baby items at Kenwood Mall and decided we would give it a try. The dining room was all but empty and the hostesses took one look at us (Myself in jeans and a sweatshirt, my boyfriend in jeans and a tshirt and my son in kids clothing, a normal families attire) and declared that there was no room in the dining room and that we had to sit at the bar...with our 2 year old. Now at this point I'm already miffed, but then it takes 25 minutes just to get a waitress to get us drinks. Then another 20 minutes to even get our order for food. I am pregnant and hungry and the last thing I want to do is wait an hour to eat and my 2 year old is hungry too alright. So we FINALLY get our food and drinks and the waitress has the nerve to come along and tell me that my two year old is being too loud. First of all I've seen loud children and you had better believe I keep better control of my kid than that, he is too well disciplined to even throw a fit in a grocery store. He had simply said "Hi" to an older woman down the bar because he is friendly like that and somehow she had gotten offended? So then we finish our food and we get the check and it was what you'd expect from a higher class place so that didn't bother me. But as we are leaving a hostess had the nerve to tell me that it was a suit and tie environment and that is why we had to sit in the bar. If that is the case then post a sign somewhere. But I have been to war twice for this country, her little too-good talking behind included, so I feel that NO ONE should be judged on what they are wearing. I am a PAYING CUSTOMER and deserved to be treated with respect. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

My wife and I decided to try Embers for our wedding anniversary. We were not overly impressed especially considering it is a more expensive restaurant; there appeared to be a lack of attention to detail. After my wife ordered the lobster, I ordered the ribeye. As the server began to leave the table I had to mention to him "I would like that medium rare." That is generally the first question asked by a server after a steak is ordered. Fifteen to twenty minutes later as my steak was delivered, the server said "I'll go check on the lobster." Seriously? The entire meal isn't served simultaneously? When they brought my wife's lobster, the plate was missing the side of sauteed spinach. The server said, "let me check on that." Seriously? I cut into my steak to find out it was cooked medium to medium well, definitely not what I had requested. The server apologized and took it away. Immediately the manager came over and apologized and asked if I would like some soup while the steak was being prepared. I said "no" and she then offered complimentary desert; I said OK. Needless to say we were both disappointed with the experience and we probably will not return. read more

I recently went to eat here for a friend's birthday, and it was fantastic. I think that this is a good restaurant for a special occasion. I ordered the Colorado 8 oz filet with a sweet potato. It had been awhile since I had a really good steak, and it was awesome. I know that at some restaurants you can't gauge how well cooked the steaks will be, but I ordered a med-rare steak and I was happy to find that it's what I got. My friend picked a slice of bonbonerie (spelling?) opera cake, and it was the perfect end to the night. I've seen from other reviews that the bar menu is more reasonable than the dining area. I'd like to go back sometime soon and check out the bar. Also of note, my friend has a 3 yo son who was well-behaved and the staff seemed to be kid-friendly. read more

The food was good, was it 157.00 good? Probably not. I've had comparable food at Texas roadhouse. The wait staff aside from our waiter was excellent. The atmosphere was great. Back to our waiter. He made jokes like we were unintelligent the entire night. We were very offended. He read the menu to us, not to inform us but to break down what a high class menu is. My husband ordered the scallops, and he laughed and said "by the looks of you, I'd peg you for a steak guy". Then when he brought the duck fat fries out, he explained that they were served with truffle sauce. (Which we knew) you could read it from the menu and smell it from a mile away. He said with another laugh "you probably would rather have ketchup, right?" Then he tried to tell me that sweet red wines, aren't sweet and I needed a fruity wine. I do like Moscato, but that's not what I asked for originally. We know our wines! To top it off the wine I chose was 16 per the menu however, our bill stated 26. I wasn't going to have him make me look like an idiot, so we dealt with it, paid the bill and left. If you want decent food, a rude waiter and a high bill, then go. If you want a great waitstaff and great food! that you'll pay substantially less for go some place else. :) read more

Embers is THE place to go eat. HANDS DOWN. Thomas and Debbie at the bar are amazing!! They are the two sweetest people you'll ever meet. and the food is great. Hideki makes some of the best sushi i've EVER had. The service is impeccable and the food is awesome. I would definitely recommend the crab cakes and peppered yellowfin tuna. SO GOOD! Embers you totally have my heart. And trust me i know food. I come from the land of amazing food...Los Angeles. Oh and the regulars at the bar are a riot too...super sweet and funny. We wanted a super nice meal near our hotel and found Embers. Its prices were comparable to steak houses in the Chicago area so it can be pricey. We had several servers, including the manager. There were a number of large groups there that night so I assume everyone was helping out. Amazingly busy for a Monday night. We had the grouper and pork chop - both excellent. The veggies that accompanied the fish were yummy but the baked sweet potato was so overcooked it was mush - hence the loss of a star. I wanted to send it back but my companion didn't want to "make a fuss." No room for dessert so we can't comment on it. read more

Visited for a casual date night and were very pleased, Stan the man, waited on us and could not be more personable and pleasant. We ordered the Mahi Mahi Chefs Special and the Scottish Salmon, the food was phenomenal, only overshadowed by the service. EVERYONE was so pleasant and friendly, and was well educated on the menu. Yesterday was my first visit to Embers. I have to say that it was AMAZING!!! The steak and chicken are a must! The service from Hany was extraordinary! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections .He recommended the Moscato and it was great. We received excellent customer service from all of the staff that we encountered. Very clean, very nice atmosphere and again the service was wonderful. He even gave me a "cute little bag" to take my desert home. Thank you so much Hany for your wonderful service to us. I went to Embers, for the first time last week, for a girls night out. Had a server named Ean who was awesome. He made my experience so good that I brought my fiancée in a few days later.
