We had a great experience at Ember steak tonight. My husband had the special fish, I had the a5 wagyu and my 5 year old had a chicken tenders with fries that were all great quality. The manager Andrzej and our server provided the best customer service. Every thing we ate including our dinner rolls and molten cake with ice cream were delicious. We also had bone marrow which was a nice treat. The restaurant was classy and friendly towards my little one. My kid was given crayons and a nice paper to color. When we first walked into this place it was very dark and you could tell it's certainly not designed for children. I understand that It's a steakhouse so that is not uncommon. But be that as it may, we did have our three year-old with us. I get it. I worked in hospitality for over 20 years. These establishments pretty much frown upon bringing small children but hey, that's life. People have children and they deserve to eat in a restaurant just like anyone else. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get a highchair. Which may not seem like a big deal but we waited so long he became a bit disoriented. Because we had our little guy with us and because he is like a ticking time bomb I asked them not to hold anything or to course anything out. Just to bring stuff out when it's ready. But maybe I should've been a bit more specific because even though we didn't want them to pause between courses we were still hoping to receive things in the order that they were ordered in. Our side dishes came out before our drinks. Drinks took well over 15 minutes to be received. Side dishes sat forever before entrees were served. Finally steaks came out with the salad. Salad was not what we ordered. Neither was asparagus. Caesar salad was wrapped in some kind of carpaccio beef. We ordered just a regular Caesar. Asparagus also came out with Crab on top, which was also not what we ordered. Just a little frustrating. Oysters on the half shell came out last. The oysters were very crisp and fresh, but the sauce that was served with them was on the sweet side. Not my cup of tea but I'm sure others might like that. The thing that upset me most was when I went to use the restroom and when I came back, they took my steak away. I still had a little less than half of it left with every intention of eating it. GONE At 62 dollars for an Ala carte steak DON'T DO THAT!!!!!! Like SERIOUSLY ?! That is rude and highly unprofessional. We understand you have to turn tables but it should never be at the customers cost. The least you could've done was wrap it up! Also underwhelming was your 11 dollar cheese rolls. I mean come on. It's bread and cheese and they are dinky, dense, and not worth the price. I am certainly not opposed to paying for bread. But the cost of things should just match the quality. Positives: The French fries are outstanding. They have that coating on them to give them that extra crisp texture. The Mac and cheese is phenomenal. Some of the best Mac I've had in a really long time. They put cubes of what tasted like crispy pork belly and it was perfect. My New York was also fantastic. I feel like every restaurant does their temperatures different like sometimes you order medium rare and that steak is still heavily bleeding so I've started ordering medium because I experience this too way much. I do prefer my steak medium rare plus but I know a lot of chefs hate when you order that way so I just order medium now in hopes that it will be a true medium or even better just slightly red. Stake could not have been more perfect, which was why I was so upset when it disappeared after coming back from the bathroom. The oysters were also delicious, but I just wish they offered a classic miniognette. I think it's great when they branch out and try to do different things. The sunomomo approach was creative and I'm certain a lot of people would love this, but I just wish that a classic sauce would've been available or offered. They were too sweet for me. I will say that the service, although it took rather long, was very kind and that they did try to accommodate to our child which we deeply appreciate. Hostesses, food runners, bussers, and especially our server were all so sweet and kind. We very much appreciated that. Cocktails were all tasty and thoughtful and well prepared. For four adults and one toddler to eat here with drinks and no dessert, it was 700. For that amount of money, even though I know we are in NAPA, you still have to up your game. Thank you read more

Such an amazing experience! From the ambience to the customer service everything was perfect! The manager Danny and our server Nathan were amazing! We grabbed 2 orders of the A5 Japanese Wagyu, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and wow neither disappointed! We wrapped up our dinner with a chocolate lava cake and that was perfect as well! Went in for a table. The entire restaurant was empty, I just had surgery and asked for a table and the seater said they didn't have availability unless I had a reservation. Completely empty restaurant. It wasn't until I told her I needed a table because I just had surgery that she turned us away with the excuse that we needed a reservation, because they were booked up. This restaurant was absolutely wonderful! It had the most beautiful interior and exterior. The service was amazing as well. Our servers name was Jack and he took amazing care of my boyfriend and I in celebrating our four year anniversary. We even got a chance to speak with the manager about how much we appreciated Jack's service. She was very attentive and kind as well. She even gave us a little gift for our four year as we were wrapping up dinner! We kept on being surprised and delighted throughout the night. I came here and sat at the bar for dinner after a long business meeting and had the wonderful pleasure of a fabulous meal and top-notch service from Julio. I tend to order all my steakhouse favorites when dining at any steakhouse- I'm my go gos- I started with the old fashioned, which was absolutely delicious. Then I had the iceberg salad with the blue cheese for a starter. For my entree I had the New York strip with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus with a cab. Food was fantastic- I order medium rare plus and the steak was cooked to perfection. Also, the service was welcoming and friendly. Julio was kind, knowledgeable, professional yet lighthearted and personable. As someone who dines out often at the finest restaurants, you'd be surprised how often servers don't know how to balance being helpful and not interrupting conversation. For me, service is important and i received great service here which only added to the experience. The food was very high quality and the ambiance and noise level were cozy and chic. My wife and I ate here on Valentines weekend and thoroughly enjoyed everything. We don't eat out much as she has very particular tastes. I of course had a rib eye and loved it. She had the chicken breast with " chicken Jus". She had wine and my first drink was the blueberry margarita. I haven't had a great margarita since moving to NorCal and this was no exception. My second drink was the "pumpkin mule" which I enjoyed very much. I finished my steak and we were enjoying visiting with our waiter, Anthony, he suggested I drink my mule from the mug and not use the copper straw. Excellent advice as almost all tastes are actually smells. I then proceeded to finish my wife's chicken and Jus. The chicken was fine but the Jus blew my mind. It is impossible to describe but I felt a thousand culinary memories going through my mind. Alison, the pumpkin mule was a perfect pairing with this Jus. When you go here, I know it's al about the beef, but someone at the table needs to have the Chicken and Jus. Everyone order a pumpkin mule and taste the Jus and of course a bit of chicken. We were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful it was here. We live near Napa and go frequently to eat. We decided to stay for a small escape at the Meritage. Ember was so good!! I rarely give a restaurant a five star review but Ember deserves one. The best overall description is a throwback to the classic steakhouse in the last century, but the service the quality of the food and the ambience brings it right up to the present day. Bryce, our server was excellent, he was spot on in understanding any food issues and made a point of working with us for alternatives. Not only were the steaks, wonderful but salad and asparagus were well cooked and brought to the table with a beautiful presentation. My one small disappointment is that although there is ample choice from the cocktail menu, California wines were a minority of the wines by glass menu. It would seem that a restaurant in the heart of Napa would have the resources to find wine that complements their menu. Had what I would call the best dinner of my life and that is saying a lot as I am a big foodie. Prime steak, Wagyu A5, that was given the Oscar treatment that included bearnaise the finest Dungeness crab, and asparagus. An absolutely incredible experience while listening to a concert with Richard Marx and Rick Springfield. Very disappointed! First time in Napa from NYC and wasn't impressed to say the least. My fiancé and I expected an elegant high end steakhouse evening however Ember steak fell short of our expectations. Food was barely mediocre at best, both of us have eaten at exceptional steakhouses, George Martins, Tellers, Capital Grille, Abe and Louis, Delmonicos and Prime. But all in all Ember steak was in no shape comparable. For us to send back a dish has to take a lot to which we ordered the $190 "library" porterhouse and had to send it back due to it being cooked well done when we ordered medium. Yes I can excuse a mistake in the kitchen but for that price point I'd expect the steak to be cooked properly and to order the first time. Anyone that orders a well done steak is a cardinal sin in any steakhouse and for that $190 dry aged porter to be cut and served to us was in all honesty disrespectful not only to us but the food itself. Major red flag when you would send and serve that to the table. The server did take the steak back and a new steak was then cooked to order but still wasn't juicy or flavorful just blah. The shining star was the complimentary truffle fries and the service which was wonderful. Other than that the Mac and cheese, potato pauvé and cheesy bread bites were "meh". The carpaccio ceaser was SWIMMING in dressing and I mean absolutely swimming which was off putting as well. The restaurant gave us complimentary dessert which was nice and thoughtful but again the cheesecake was strange and bitter, the chocolate lava cake was just "ok" but to be truly honest the best part of the entire meal was the Vanilla ice cream which is probably store bought or outsourced. We're in no shape or fashion food snobs but we know steakhouses and high end steakhouses and this was a poor representation expecially the pricepoint that this restaurant is setting. The ambiance in itself was nothing special, atmosphere was bland and not worth getting dressed up for. There were other patrons in hoodies and hats as if they were at a sports bar. Not worth the bill nor our time. I could've had a better meal at Texas Roadhouse. Will never be returning and I hope all that read this heed my advice and steer clear of this overpriced and poor impersonation of a "corporate steakhouse." You've got to be out of your mind to serve a WELL DONE apparently dry aged porterhouse to your customers. What an absolute shame. read more
