We were in Napa around lunch time and used Yelp to find a new place. Il Posto Trattoria looked really good. The restaurant is a smallish place with indoor and outdoor seating. We were promptly seated and served water. They offer a pretty comprehensive menu. We decided to order their Margherita pizza (along with a serving of their garlic bread) adding pepperoni, mushrooms and olives to 1/2 of it. Of course I ordered an Italian beer to go with it. The pizza was delicious and I mean delicious! There were leaves of fresh basil on the pizza. The basil wasn't baked with the pizza so it was the freshness which really set it off. The garlic bread was tasty as well using mozzarella on it. Our server, Teresa, was a jewel and right on top of things, along with another girl who I didn't get her name. All in all a very nice experience. We will return and try some of the other dishes that looked so good. read more

Everything about this restaurant was excellent. Dedicated parking can be a little tight, but it's really nice having something right by the door. It's great to find a restaurant that offers a little breathing room from your standard restaurants in the downtown area. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated, although we did have a reservation, which is highly recommended, particularly on high peak times. A wonderful wine selection and an amazing menu . The service was great and we were treated like family. We ordered entirely too much food, but somehow it disappeared pretty quickly. A little bit was left was packed off and devoured the next day! I've driven past this place like a million times and finally decided to have dinner here. Overall, it was great! First things first, the service was top notch. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming :) The interior was what you'd expect for a nice Italian restaurant. Cozy and clean! Good, strong drink. But it's a restaurant, so obviously you want to know about the food. So, the lasagna was exceptional. It did take a while to arrive, but they were very busy, so i will forgive them. Clearly freshly made with quality ingredients. I'd definitely recommend ordering that! The price... well, it's not cheap. But, you're in Napa and it's a nice restaurant. If you're on a budget, go to Applebees. Nothing against Applebees, I go there all the time, I'm just trying to make a point here given that a few people in the reviews here are whining about the price. I'll be back for sure. Stopped in for lunch on our way home from a resort. It's a lovely romantic setting with white table cloth tables, a lovely bar and succulent planters outside the windows. The service was spectacular. Our waitress knew the menu and had great recommendations. Service was attentive and prompt. We started with a Cesar salad and drinks. The Eggplant Parmesan was excellent. Our waitress even mentioned she loves the dish. My husband had the lasagna and it was also very tasty. We look forward to visiting again, we appreciate the food and service we received. I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Il Posto Trattoria, and the entire experience was incredible from start to finish. Since we were a party of seven, I called ahead to reserve, and the staff was very kind and accommodating throughout the process. When we arrived, our table was ready, and we were seated right away. The ambiance was warm, welcoming, and perfect for a special evening. We started with drinks, and the highlight was definitely the Watermelon Margarita--refreshing and delicious. For appetizers, we shared several dishes: Octopus - perfectly tender and flavorful. Il Posto Garlic Bread - absolutely to die for, one of the best garlic breads I've ever had! Bruschetta - not usually my favorite, but my friends loved it. Sautéed Calamari - unique with its Italian sausage sauce, but very tasty. Margherita Pizza - excellent, highly recommend. For entrees, everything impressed us. Several friends ordered the Orecchiette, which was a hit. I had the Radiatore with shrimp and pesto--incredibly fresh and authentic. The Rigatoni and Bucatini del Pescatore (a hearty seafood stew) were also outstanding. The birthday girl chose the Lasagna, and she said it was one of the best she's ever had. To finish, we shared a Tiramisu cake and what seemed like a peach cobbler with ice cream. The staff surprised my friend with a pastry and candle, which was such a thoughtful touch. If you're visiting Napa and want to know where locals go... it's here!! I'd say this is our favorite Italian food! I apologize for not enough photos but we just wanted to dig in! The food is so good here. Everything is bursting with flavor! Salads, breads and pasta are fresh. Portions are large enough to share. They make the best minestrone of anywhere. My niece is gluten free, so she was able to eat a rich vegetarian sauce with gluten free pasta. My nephew wanted chicken Alfredo one time and they said "it's not on the menu, but we can make it" it's probably the best I've EVER had and that move absolutely made THIS their favorite restaurant, and they go often. He never gets anything else! Deserts are so good you can't decide which one, and we've had them all. Beyond the Main Street Buzz - A True Napa Gem Just a few minutes away from Main Street Napa, away from the big crowds and wine-wannabes, sits this little gem that truly feels like a locals' spot. We stopped here after visiting Castillo di Amorosa with my boyfriend's parents visiting from NOLA, and wow -- what a treat. The food was delicious, but honestly the star of the show was the service. Our server Tania was beyond attentive, kind, and sweet -- the kind of service that makes you feel at home. We all went for the special: Chicken Parmesan on tagliatelle topped with vibrant pesto. At first, I was suspicious of that combo -- a bit unusual -- but it turned out amazing. Crispy chicken on the outside, juicy inside, with pasta that was clearly homemade (as all their pastas are). The pesto brought it all together. We also ordered garlic bread -- it took a little longer since they bring it fresh out of the oven, but it arrived just in time to wipe our plates clean. Worth the wait. We sat in their outdoor area -- the weather was perfect, well shaded, and it made the whole lunch feel even more relaxed. Even the restroom got my attention -- nothing to be excited about design-wise, but extremely clean. So clean you could have eaten there (not that you should, haha). The bill for four of us, with tip, was about $160 -- pretty great for the quality, the portions, and the whole experience. Extremely let down by this restaurant, which claims to be authentic Italian but falls short, especially considering the high prices. The waiter was pleasant and spoke softly, almost in a whisper; a bit more volume would have been appreciated. The water had a noticeable mildew taste, which is quite unpleasant. We were seated despite having made reservations, which seemed unnecessary since the restaurant was not busy at all. There was oil and vinegar on the table, but no bread or any starters, which is something you would typically expect at an Italian restaurant. We ordered pizza, salad, pasta, and lasagna. The pizza was slightly burnt and excessively oily on the bottom and crust; the Blanca pizza was decent but also very greasy. The Caesar salad was good, but I did find a few wilted, brown leaves in it. The lasagna appeared and tasted old, not freshly prepared. It reminded me of canned Chef Boyardee. The ricotta was barely a spoonful, and the pasta tasted like it was from a can and looked aged. The pesto pasta almost seemed stale and was not enjoyable; it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Didn't even offer fresh grated Parmesan for $30+ a plate of trash. I am thoroughly disappointed with this place; it will be my first and last visit. Given the prices they charge, the quality of the dishes is not worth it, and I would never return, especially since I can't understand how others rave about it. The clientele mostly consists of older retired individuals, rather than a mix of younger or middle-aged patrons; it seems to cater more to seniors. Overall, I am dissatisfied and do not believe this is authentic Italian cuisine as I've had many experiences elsewhere nothing like this dissatisfaction of quality in food and presentation. read more

We had dinner here with a few friends. This was the only restaurant and only place we had been to that day. Unfortunately one us a few hours later got chills and started throwing up. Most of us shared the same food and the one person that got sick was the only one that did not share their food and had a cooked and raw dish. Unfortunately we called to the restaurant to let them know something might have been contaminated. And the manager insisted that no one got sick from their restaurant. We didn't want free food or anything. We just wanted to let them know. We felt the manager handled our concerns extremely poorly. Unfortunately because all possibly was denied, not taken seriously and the way we were talked to, we no longer recommend it. But if you go here we hope you have a good experience. read more

This is a small, quaint restaurant that can be as little loud. Just the same the service was excellent and so was the food. The lasagna was delicious. I really liked the sauce and the portion size. My husband ordered the eggplant Parmesan and it too was delicious. We compared them side-by-side and we couldn't tell which one we liked better. We came on a Tuesday evening and it got pretty packed. Surprisingly good little Italian restaurant just off the bike path between Napa and Yountville. This is very close to the Hotel Indigo on foot, so it's a great option if you're staying there. We were delayed for our reservation, but a quick call with the friendly host allowed us a 30 minute leeway. We were the last to be seated before the restaurant closed, but never felt rushed. The food is really good; the garlic bread appetizer was delicious but large enough for about 6 people to share! Good wine options, and great service. Will return. read more

Arrived on a chilly evening and decided to sit at the bar instead of a table for one. I am in Napa for a meeting tomorrow and was very excited to see Posto across the street from my hotel. Sitting at the bar was comfortable (with the exception of the cold night air blowing in when guests entered or left). The bartender, a pretty young woman with a casual yet professional demeanor took my order. A very welcoming touch. I ordered the salmon piccata which was outstanding. I am good cook, so ordering out sometimes lands a little flat. The farro and charred broccolini were perfectly aldente and the piping hot lemon caper sauce took the dish to the next level. Yippee! It's been years since we tried IL Posto and one Friday evening, we get a chance to die at the quantum restaurant in North Napa. The place is full and I'm glad we made reservations to sit inside. My favorite out of all the dishes we ordered was the Caesar Salad. The portion is plenty for two people. The gnocchi I did not care for as much and the Rigatoni was under cooked. Not Al dente but under cooked. I see a lot of pizza orders so maybe this is the way to go for next time. I will definitely be back even for the Caesar salad. read more

Il Posto is our neighborhood go to. Place was filled as we would have expected for a Saturday night, 630. The Il Posto is relatively small so there is a lively noise level. We ordered the olives to start. Olives stuffed with sausage then deep fried. Always a great starter to get the tastebuds going. For our mains, I had the special, which was braised wild boar, shredded, with a mushroom and braising liquid jus, atop mushroom and asparagus risotto. The boar was melt in your mouth and great flavor. The risotto was creamy with the pops of asparagus. Wife had the egg plant parm with sausage. The sausage adds great flavors to the parm. Although they have a wonderful selection of wine, we always bring a bottle from home. Corkage is $20. The only letdown was we found out our longtime (5 years) favorite waiter Hector had left. Didn't like that we had to sit outside, helped there was a heater. Had reservations but we changed it to earlier so i could understand if that's all that was available. Hubby was not happy. However, his mood quickly changed after they brought out the fried olives I ordered. He was blown away by the fried olives, stuffed with sausage. I've had it before at Scala Osteria, minus the sausage. I liked the polenta more. Andy was great, very friendly, passionately agreed with all the yummy items we ordered. Quite a few servers asked us how we were doing throughout the course of our dinner which was great but my fault for not asking about the bread they never brought out. It was difficult writing this review out of fear this place will get too busy, but I could not resist. This may be some of the best Italian food on the west coast and even rivals some of my favorite New York spots. The pasta was so f'ing fresh and that homemade flavor makes you want more and more. Everything was perfectly flavored and the dishes really let the ingredients sing a beautiful song: I highly recommend you make sure to stop in on your way through town or make this a monthly stop if you live nearby. The staff were awesome and it was so f'ing delicious I can't say it enough. Do your self a favor and go now and get some. Can't wait to come back. Sure it may be $10-$15 more per person than some other spots but you get your money back is flavor. The fried olives stuffed with Italian sausage is the best appetizer I've ever had. read more
