This place came highly recommended by pretty much everyone around town, so we had to check it out, and now I completely understand why. From start to finish, everything was a 10/10. The service was excellent. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he absolutely killed it and made the whole experience seamless. The food? Incredible. I had the pasta bolognese and the steak frites, and both were packed with flavor. Everything tasted fresh, rich, and perfectly executed. And I know this might sound random... but the white beans?? A hidden gem on the menu. Seriously don't skip them. So good! Portion sizes were just right for me, not overwhelming, but definitely satisfying. We started off with the bread. Honestly expected it to be somewhat warm. It was not. To drink I had the rum based cocktail in the cooler mug, pretty good. Strong for sure. Thank you Bistro Don Giovanni for making our one year wedding anniversary dinner so enjoyable! I booked online for a 815p reservation and mentioned in the note that we were celebrating one year together. Parking lot is large and I was so excited to see all the string lights they had everywhere! We checked in and sat down. Right away, the manager stopped by to congratulate us on or anniversary which I thought was so sweet and personable. He gave us some good recs on wine. I believe the name of our server was Nacho and he was great. He was attentive and personable. Spaghetti and clams: I loved it! Came with a lot of clams. Pasta Bolognese: my husbands selection an he said "it was great". Large servings. Ended the meal with top shelf butterscotch which is made with Maccallan whiskey. It was realllly good. So pissed off, drove 45 minutes to celebrate my anniversary to arrive to them being closed for 30 minutes because the power went out and we had not been called and notified. When complainted to employees about not receiving a call the excuse was that the managers were on the phone calling everyone, however we still never received a call even after leaving. We we told to call the sister restaurant and guaranteed they would take care of us however we called and they said they could only take us 3.5 hours later. For our mains, I ordered the gnocchetti because it looked irresistible. It was even delicious the next day as left overs when more of the flavors had settled. We also ordered the hot Italian pizza that was pretty spicy! The broccolini on the pizza was delicious and a great flavor to add to the pizza! We also ordered some Cabernet Sauvignon to go with our food and those wines were also great with our dishes! Our friend brought a whole cake to celebrate the birthday girl and the staff brought the cake out as a surprise. My favorite restaurant in Napa by far! Outstanding on both of my visits. They make the best mashed potatoes I've had that aren't homemade. Their pasta dishes are delicious and in huge portions. This place was boomin with business and we had heard great things. They brought out some complimentary focaccia which was on point along with a spicy olive oil concoction. The server was so nice and helped make some recommendations for us. We started with the calamari and large caesar salad which was plenty to share around the table. There were some other fried veggies that accompanied the calamari so I enjoyed that. Veal Parmigiana was solid. I don't really eat fettuccine Alfredo but the bite I took was addicting. It was creamy and not overwhelming and I wanted more. Pollo Alla Diavalo - They cooked this chicken to perfection! I mean the crispiness they got on that skin was insanity. The chicken was juicy, crispy, tender and that just underneath was full of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by that dish. Hubby got their GF bolognese with Casarecce pasta. That was so nice because most bolognese we've had GF has been with a rigatoni so this was a nice change. We came here as a party of 8 on Friday night (9/19). The restaurant itself is beautiful, but the food and service were disappointing. It took at least 25 minutes just to get our first round of drinks. Because of that wait, most of us avoided ordering a second drink or dessert since we figured it would take too long. Service felt slow overall. Our server didn't come by often and it took multiple asks to get simple things like balsamic vinegar. One side of vegetables we ordered never even came. When the food arrived, almost everyone's dish was lukewarm. We had lamb shank, pasta(s), branzino, and more, and only 2 or 3 things were served hot. I ordered the branzino along with a friend. Mine came out without the lemon caper sauce and I had to ask for it, while my friend's dish had the sauce. Both of our fish also had a lot of bones even though we were told it would be boneless. Review #49. A trip to Napa with my bro. After an excellent wine tasting at Seven Apart (thanks Catie), we decided to hit the Bistro for some grub. BDG is a gorgeous outdoor dining space with views of the Cliff Family winery. We started with Olive Fritte....fried Spanish olives & marcona almonds. A large portion of perfectly fried olives. Our entrees were the house favorite Spaghetti & Clams, which is better referred to as Clams & Spaghetti given the abundance of sweet clams. I thoroughly enjoyed my huge portion of Veal Parmigiana with mozzarella di bufala, parmigiano reggiano and fettuccine alfredo.Delicious. Service throughout our meal was top notch. After a winery tour, we wanted a nice place for lunch. This had a reservation that lined up well before heading home. I made a reservation online. Parking can be difficult, but there were spots. The hostess felt cold after I mentioned I have a reservation for 6 and a high chair. We got seated some minutes later. The server was also cold. We ordered appetizers and drinks. That came a while later. We then put our orders in. The food took a while to come out. And not all at the same time. Before the food came, we had spilled wine. Our fault, sure. The server didn't even bother helping with rags nor asked to fill the glass. Mind you, the entire table was just red with wine all over. We had to flag down a different server for extra rags. Fried olives are good if you like olives. Can be salty. The calamari/shrimp/green bean appetizer was pretty good. Rigatoni bolognese was good. Nice al dente to the pasta. Meat sauce was flavorful. The Veal parmigiana was good. The veal was tender and fried nicely. The alfredo it came with was good as well to balance it. The Gnoccheti was enjoyable as well. The Seared salmon came last. We had to flag down our server, wherever he was the entire time, to double check. That didn't come out for another 5 minutes after asking. Wow! After leaving Raymond Vineyards, our wine consultant recommended Bistro Don Giovanni. We quickly grabbed reservations and were excited to try them out. They have tons of parking out front. We were seated on the patio and greeted with the most delicious complimentary bread and oil. For starters, we grabbed the fritto misto & that was a great decision. The shrimp, calamari, and vegetables were fried perfectly, not overly breaded - JUST DELICIOUS! Hubby had the lamb meatball dish that came with white beans and zucchini. The meatballs were juicy, savory, and overall fantastic. My short rib ravioli was also really good, I just wish they add a little more short rib inside of them, because the dish didn't fill me up. For dessert, they had cheesecake, and that is a non negotiable for my husband. The cheesecake was the perfect end to our dinner at Don Giovanni. Then we were told we had to sit outside. We were seated next to a large party of 20 ladies. They were very noisy. Flies buzzed around our table, we were completely forgotten/ignored for 10 minutes before water was brought over and then the server arrived. Our server was efficient, but not friendly. We ordered fried olives. While they were good, it wasn't what we expected. My husband ordered the pasta of the day. I ordered the halibut, which was also a special for the day. We split a glass of wine. My husband's pasta dish was good. He really liked it. My halibut was served with veggies that were divine. The fish had a green sauce, not pesto, that had an herb flavor I couldn't identify. I could only eat two bites of it. I'm not picky and I love to cook. I couldn't get over that flavor I don't know and I couldn't eat it. We both ordered dessert. My husband had the flourless chocolate cake and I had salted caramel gelato. I would have gladly eaten that gelato for dinner. It was superb. The chocolate cake was excellent. We didn't have a bad experience, but felt it could be better. I've seen this restaurant when we drove by many, many months ago and remember being enchanted by all the fairy lights at night. This then led me to promptly look up what business was at this location and it has since lived rent-free in my mind. Now it's been a while since our last day trip to Napa, so we decided to take advantage of the nice weather, and drive to wine country for lunch and some wine tasting. Bistro Don Giovanni was a top pick because there's ample outdoor seating, and they're dog friendly! The dining patio is very cute and there's an assortment of umbrellas/coverings to shield you from the sun. They also had plenty of fans to help cool patrons down. We ordered the beet and haricot vert salad ($18), pasta of the day/ravioli cacio e pepe ($35), and a seared salmon entree ($42). We were given complimentary focaccia to start and the bread was excellent! Soft, pillowy, and packed full of flavor. They asked if we wanted more, and I used every last bit of self-restraint to decline. The salad was light and refreshing. The beets were cubed so it was easy to eat, and the gorgonzola cheese really brought the dish together. I felt so healthy eating this! The ravioli came with bits of pear for some added sweetness, and it paired quite nicely (excuse the pun). There were six pieces of ravioli, so portions are a bit small here. I had 2.5 pieces before I offered the rest to my fiancé in exchange for his mains. Salmon was cooked well! There was a nice seared crunchy top, and it was not overcooked either. The mashed potato accompaniment on the plate was also delightful! Reminded me of Joel Robuchon potatoes, ugh, I could eat a whole bowl of that alone. Service was good. I've heard positive things about Bistro Don Giovanni before but hadn't had the chance to dine here until recently. A recent day trip to Napa with a few others and a friend in the group recommended this restaurant for lunch. It was a rainy, Saturday afternoon and since we didn't have reservations, we were seated at a table at the bar. The place was super busy at lunch time. Service was a little slow to start but once the server came by to tell us about the specials, it picked up and he was more attentive throughout the rest of our meal. Water refills did require some prompting from our end though. We started with complimentary focaccia bread that we dipped in olive oil. It was fantastic. We also ordered the fritto misto which was quite addicting as it was fried perfectly and had just the right amount of batter. My husband got the pork chop which he really enjoyed. Someone else at the table got the gnochetti lamb ragu and another got the bambini pizza (which came with a side of fries). I chose one of the daily specials which was a sea bass ravioli in truffle butter. I liked the ravioli but the truffle flavor was lacking. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes.
