Would definitely come back! The gnocchi and veal pasta were both incredible--rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The wine list is excellent, with plenty of great options to pair with your meal, and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and quintessential Napa. The service was attentive without feeling rushed, making it the perfect place for a leisurely lunch or dinner. Looking forward to visiting again!
The ambiance of the restaurant is very romantic and being sat outside was the highlight of the meal. The misto frito appetizer was good. There were green beans and fennel which I thought was a nice addition to the normal fried calamari. Unfortunately, the pasta was pretty underwhelming. I'd say it's only slightly better than a typical chain Italian restaurant. So, for the price, I don't believe it's worth it. The pasta was already lukewarm when it was served so by the time I was finished it was cold. For dessert, the tiramisu was incredibly dry. I've never had such a dry tiramisu in my life so that was very disappointing. The service was good and the waiters were nice and did their best to maneuver umbrellas to shade people from the setting sun.
BIstro Don Giovanni Is a huge Italian restaurant, very deceiving from the outside. When you first enter it appears to be a small Italian restaurant with a bar, like magic it opens up to a huge outside seating patio. That atmosphere is one of friendly banter and laughter under bright lights that look like stars. Now the food, we read the fantastic menu with all kinds of delicious options, when the server Tony approached us we quickly ordered the grilled octopus $20, my wife ordered the Guanciale & wild mushroom * a guanciale is bacon from the pork jowls. It was rich buttery savory flavor I was going to order the spaghetti and Clams, my wife who knows me so well asked the waiter if they can make spaghetti and meatballs as that is what I was craving, the waiter said yes then he asked if I would like it spicy or regular, what!?! SPICY PLEASE, I was so excited and off the menu dream come true, and let me tell you it did NOT disappoint, the flavor was amazing! The heat from the spice was perfect, the spaghetti is made fresh daily. The sauce made fresh, the tomatoes, onions, all spices are fresh. And beyond words. $34 I ate the whole thing something I don't often do anymore. Man I will come back with the tribe my boys would love this place. But tonight is date night and me and my wife had an amazing meal at an amazing place and the only thing better than the food was my beautiful wife's company. 5 out of 5 stars, well deserved.
The most amazing pizza outside of Italy and we have tried many in Milan, Rome and Florence!!! If you like pizza you must try one here! Thin crust, crispy outside and a few good "bubbles" on the sides of the crust! They use the flour from Italy, sooooo good, perfection! Their Caesar salad is excellent, branzino fish is well prepared and was delicious as well. Their only little spoiler was the way we were greeted by a young girl hostess who seemed to hate her job... so unfriendly and not too accommodating, other than that I highly recommend to try this place if you're in Napa or Yountville!
If you're in Napa and looking for a spot that truly lives up to the hype, Ristorante Don Giovanni is it. This place came highly recommended by pretty much everyone around town, so we had to check it out, and now I completely understand why. From start to finish, everything was a 10/10. The service was excellent. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he absolutely killed it and made the whole experience seamless. The food? Incredible. I had the pasta bolognese and the steak frites, and both were packed with flavor. Everything tasted fresh, rich, and perfectly executed. And I know this might sound random... but the white beans?? A hidden gem on the menu. Seriously don't skip them. So good! Portion sizes were just right for me, not overwhelming, but definitely satisfying. The outdoor dining area is absolutely gorgeous and adds such a nice touch to the overall experience. It's deff one of those places where you can just sit back, relax, and sip your wine! Safe to say, I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
Thank you Bistro Don Giovanni for making our one year wedding anniversary dinner so enjoyable! I booked online for a 815p reservation and mentioned in the note that we were celebrating one year together. Parking lot is large and I was so excited to see all the string lights they had everywhere! We checked in and sat down. Right away, the manager stopped by to congratulate us on or anniversary which I thought was so sweet and personable. He gave us some good recs on wine. I believe the name of our server was Nacho and he was great. He was attentive and personable. Spaghetti and clams: I loved it! Came with a lot of clams. Pasta Bolognese: my husbands selection an he said "it was great". Large servings. Ended the meal with top shelf butterscotch which is made with Maccallan whiskey. It was realllly good. You could taste the whiskey a little which I liked. Served with a really good biscotti. I really liked all the market lights hung in the patio area. It gives it a romantic vibe. There's so many hung up in the patio which I'm sure helps with ventilation and heat during the day. Once again, nacho and the manager wished us well on the way out. Such friendly staff, it feels like dining at a friends house. Would love to come back!
Second time here and somehow the meal wasn't as exceptional as I remembered it. Still good though. Ambiance was nice. Sad outdoors. Love that the outdoor patio is covered. We started off with the bread. Honestly expected it to be somewhat warm. It was not. To drink I had the rum based cocktail in the cooler mug, pretty good. Strong for sure. To eat I had the pork chops with potatoes. The pork chop was delicious and juicy. Did not like the orange things on top. I'd probs not ask for that next time. Tasted the margarita pizza. Kinda basic ngl. Knowing how great my first meal was when I first came, I'll have to try something else next time.
A perfect restaurant in Napa. Booked for an informal business dinner on a Sunday and it was the ideal choice. Had a very experienced (in the good way) waiter, very efficient, helpful and knew the place. Wouldn't be surprised if he had worked there for years. The ambience was ideal for a business dinner or for a romantic dinner. Beautiful outside seating, buzzy but could easily hear your conversations. The food did not disappoint. Started with the salami plate, which was okay but not incredible. We then shared the pasta special, it was fantastic. Had a little bit of kick to it, great flavors and pasta. For the main course I had the veal parmigiana, also perfect. I was worried it would be too heavy but this took the classic dish to the next level. Just the right amount of veal with breading that complimented it rather than overpowered it, nice sauce and cheese. All in all, a fantastic meal and plan to return next time in Napa.
Definitely our favorite of all the places we ate while visiting Napa. We sat outside in the courtyard area. Our part of 8 qas promptly greeted by our server. Weather was perfect. Food was delicious and the drinks were flowing. They also gave us multiple deserts complimentary for my mom's birthday!! Would absolutely return !

A more laid-back patio spot in Napa Valley serving generous portions of comforting, rustic Italian dishes. The patio was huge and surrounded by beautiful peach trees, and our waiter was welcoming, knowledgeable, and had great banter. The food was a bit hit or miss, but overall, it was still a good dining experience. The mandilli felt a little flat and could have used another layer of flavor, like pine nuts, grated cheese, or sun-dried tomatoes. The salmon was average and a bit forgettable, but the rigatoni was easily the standout. The meat ragu and parmesan were incorporated beautifully, making it the best dish of the meal. And lastly, tiramisu is always a good idea. read more

We dined here back in 2024 and came in hoping it would be just as good as we remembered. It absolutely blew our minds again! We started with the fritti, carpaccio, and beet salad -- every dish was incredible, and I truly mean that. For entrées, we had the veal parm, lemon ravioli, and pesto pasta dish, all of which were outstanding. We finished with some of the best tiramisu we've ever had. Be prepared: you'll leave full, happy, and convinced you just had one of the best meals Napa has to offer! read more

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and I knew we would be in for some delicious food! We ordered the calamari and olive fritte for appetizers that were hot, breaded and delicious! For our mains, I ordered the gnocchetti because it looked irresistible. It was even delicious the next day as left overs when more of the flavors had settled. We also ordered the hot Italian pizza that was pretty spicy! The broccolini on the pizza was delicious and a great flavor to add to the pizza! We also ordered some Cabernet Sauvignon to go with our food and those wines were also great with our dishes! Our friend brought a whole cake to celebrate the birthday girl and the staff brought the cake out as a surprise. After she blew out the candles, they took the cake, cut it up for our table and served it with vanilla ice cream which was very thoughtful! Overall, we had a great dining experience here as always! read more
We were on a two day wine tour of Napa. Our lunch the second day was at the Bistro. Pulling up to the entrance were the most beautiful lemon trees. Had to pick a few! The place is on oasis in the middle of vineyards. The weather was fabulous so we ate outside Service was great but we almost missed our tour at Jarvis winery because meal was served at a very relaxed pace. Just another perfect part of our Napa Valley trip!! read more

My son had to work on a weekend at the Trefethen Winery and he invited us for an event. Wine tasting and tour of the area. But before all of that, we need to load up on our tummies before drinking right? Lol My son referred this place so that we are closer to the vineyard already. He's been here before too so he knows it's a good one and highly recommended. The entrance to the place from the outside is deceiving and as you walk inside, you would be a little surprised to see the colorful decor and the nice ambiance to it. It is a huge place. Whether you are seated inside or outside, is great. It depends which you prefer though. We were seated inside coz I did the reservation a little late. the food was great. We ordered the appetizers Burrata with bread, octopus salad,, spaghetti with clams, lamb, and pork chop. The staff were pleasant and very quick to attend to your needs. Lots of parking spaces too. The restroom is very clean. I'm very particular about restrooms specially in a restaurant. I highly recommend this place. read more
Food was delicious, service was outstanding. My partner and I had our anniversary dinner her and we were not disappointed at all. The pasta and ravioli stole the show. The environment in the restaurant was lively and fun. Our waiter recommended just the right bottles of wine for our dinner and we enjoyed ourselves so much. My favorite restaurant in Napa by far! Outstanding on both of my visits. They make the best mashed potatoes I've had that aren't homemade. Their pasta dishes are delicious and in huge portions. I highly recommend getting their spaghetti and clams. For your first time, I also recommend requesting a table by the fountain if you're in a small group. It's absolutely beautiful and makes for a great experience while you're eating. read more

This is a great place for an Italian meal! The outside area is gorgeous and they have heaters outside if needed. Our server, Jefferson, was outstanding! He was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed the dinner and his company. His recommendations were on point. My pasta was so tender and the sauce was excellent. Been coming here for decades and it makes me so happy that they are still going strong. I love this place. Food is still chefs kiss and the outdoor patio, once perfect for my small children (now grown up) and is now super dog friendly. read more
Adorable spot, our first time here after hearing about it for so long. The meatballs were good, not great- a little dry but the sauce and polenta helped. The gnocchetti with the lamb ragu was perfection, 10/10, would order this again and again. The bambini pizza was great but definitely too many French fries. I think I dig the concept, but less would be more here. Service was spot on, checked on us just the right amount. read more

We came here as a party of 8 on Friday night (9/19). The restaurant itself is beautiful, but the food and service were disappointing. It took at least 25 minutes just to get our first round of drinks. Because of that wait, most of us avoided ordering a second drink or dessert since we figured it would take too long. Service felt slow overall. Our server didn't come by often and it took multiple asks to get simple things like balsamic vinegar. One side of vegetables we ordered never even came. When the food arrived, almost everyone's dish was lukewarm. We had lamb shank, pasta(s), branzino, and more, and only 2 or 3 things were served hot. I ordered the branzino along with a friend. Mine came out without the lemon caper sauce and I had to ask for it, while my friend's dish had the sauce. Both of our fish also had a lot of bones even though we were told it would be boneless. My friend didn't even finish hers because it was too many bones to deal with. Overall, the setting is great but the service and food did not match the atmosphere. read more

Fantastic Napa Valley Italian food. Authentic, inviting, casual, top notch food and service. So happy we decided to try this highly reviewed and rated restaurant out. Just a wonderful experience. I could write for a full page on this one but given it's been reviewed so much, I'm going to limit my review on here. The pasta was like you would expect for Napa Valley. We ordered pesto dish with flat pasta, bolognese with 3 kinds of meat ragu, bruschetta and a lemon desert with huckleberry on the side that was to die for. Everything was a 10. BDG was outstanding! From start to finish, the food was delicious, Carlos, our server, was helpful and attentive, the ambiance was lovely~ the patio next to the vineyard was perfect on a warm evening. We started with the Beet & Haricot Vert salad, the salmon was to die for as was the branzino and the flourless chocolate cake with Cabernet was a nice ending. We will definitely come back again!!! read more
We were referred to come here after an extensive wine tasting and we were hungry! Luckily we're able to snag a table in the peak of lunch. This place was boomin with business and we had heard great things. They brought out some complimentary focaccia which was on point along with a spicy olive oil concoction. The server was so nice and helped make some recommendations for us. We started with the calamari and large caesar salad which was plenty to share around the table. There were some other fried veggies that accompanied the calamari so I enjoyed that. Veal Parmigiana was solid. I don't really eat fettuccine Alfredo but the bite I took was addicting. It was creamy and not overwhelming and I wanted more. Pollo Alla Diavalo - They cooked this chicken to perfection! I mean the crispiness they got on that skin was insanity. The chicken was juicy, crispy, tender and that just underneath was full of flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by that dish. Hubby got their GF bolognese with Casarecce pasta. That was so nice because most bolognese we've had GF has been with a rigatoni so this was a nice change. Lastly, I got the ravioli and was able to do a 50/50 split on the sauces which I was so happy about. The entire experience was so fun with passing the plates around and getting to try each other's food. I felt like we were at an Italian home. The portions were nice sizes and all the flavors were there! I can see why this place continues to be so busy, even for lunch! read more

Review #49. A trip to Napa with my bro. After an excellent wine tasting at Seven Apart (thanks Catie), we decided to hit the Bistro for some grub. BDG is a gorgeous outdoor dining space with views of the Cliff Family winery. We started with Olive Fritte....fried Spanish olives & marcona almonds. A large portion of perfectly fried olives. Our entrees were the house favorite Spaghetti & Clams, which is better referred to as Clams & Spaghetti given the abundance of sweet clams. I thoroughly enjoyed my huge portion of Veal Parmigiana with mozzarella di bufala, parmigiano reggiano and fettuccine alfredo.Delicious. Service throughout our meal was top notch. We will definitely be back to the Bistro next time in Napa. read more
Service was quick efficient and consistent. It's not about the "elegance" here it's just constant service people slapping wine good and water down on the table at all times. Which I honestly loved. Outdoor patio had a great setting to it. Loved the risotto. Wine list was on point. Had deals and steals. Thank you! read more
After a winery tour, we wanted a nice place for lunch. This had a reservation that lined up well before heading home. I made a reservation online. Parking can be difficult, but there were spots. The hostess felt cold after I mentioned I have a reservation for 6 and a high chair. We got seated some minutes later. The server was also cold. We ordered appetizers and drinks. That came a while later. We then put our orders in. The food took a while to come out. And not all at the same time. Before the food came, we had spilled wine. Our fault, sure. The server didn't even bother helping with rags nor asked to fill the glass. Mind you, the entire table was just red with wine all over. We had to flag down a different server for extra rags. Fried olives are good if you like olives. Can be salty. The calamari/shrimp/green bean appetizer was pretty good. Rigatoni bolognese was good. Nice al dente to the pasta. Meat sauce was flavorful. The Veal parmigiana was good. The veal was tender and fried nicely. The alfredo it came with was good as well to balance it. The Gnoccheti was enjoyable as well. The Seared salmon came last. We had to flag down our server, wherever he was the entire time, to double check. That didn't come out for another 5 minutes after asking. Meanwhile, everyone else was anxious and halfway through their dishes. Good food, but service is not there. Perhaps it's a big party and the 20% auto kicks in. On the way out, all the servers were sitting up front. Break time? Sure. But doesn't look good with patrons coming in and out. Especially having to flag them down a few times for our visit. read more
Wow! After leaving Raymond Vineyards, our wine consultant recommended Bistro Don Giovanni. We quickly grabbed reservations and were excited to try them out. They have tons of parking out front. We were seated on the patio and greeted with the most delicious complimentary bread and oil. For starters, we grabbed the fritto misto & that was a great decision. The shrimp, calamari, and vegetables were fried perfectly, not overly breaded - JUST DELICIOUS! Hubby had the lamb meatball dish that came with white beans and zucchini. The meatballs were juicy, savory, and overall fantastic. My short rib ravioli was also really good, I just wish they add a little more short rib inside of them, because the dish didn't fill me up. For dessert, they had cheesecake, and that is a non negotiable for my husband. The cheesecake was the perfect end to our dinner at Don Giovanni. I would love to visit again we come back to Napa! read more

I came to celebrate my girlfriend's 39th birthday, and the experience was excellent. The service was exceptional and very attentive from the moment we walked in. The staff truly made us feel welcomed and catered to throughout the evening. The flavors were outstanding. The pork chops and the New York steak were perfectly seasoned phenomenal in flavor, with a great texture, tender, and very juicy. I would definitely recommend this place for a date night, birthday celebration, or any type of anniversary. read more

This was one of the best meals I've ever had. The chicken Parmigiana with the fettuccine is what my dreams are made of. The service was fantastic from the staff, and loved the ambiance sitting outdoors with the vineyard as the backdrop. read more

Do they accommodate parties of up to 50 people or have private dining rooms?
I know there is a private dining room next to the main dining room. I don't know how many people it would accommodate. Give them a call.
Are they open for outdoor dining?
Yes. both outdoor and indoor. However, it appeared they only had bar seating indoors. They have LOTS of outdoor dining with heaters if needed as well as umbrellas over the tables.
What is their happy hour like?
It's a lot of fun! A lot of wine industry people. $5 Cocktails and Wines. Free appetizers. The bartenders are great get a seat at the bar!
Are dogs allowed on the patio? And is there heat lamps so it would be warm enough to dine outside in February?
