    Cashew Kale Salad
    Tiffany P.

Visited this restaurant after visiting the winery's in St.Helena. They had plenty of parking and a beautiful outdoor setting. They had one menu for food and one menu for drinks which should is honestly a good thing when visiting restaurants so they can focus on each menu item. We started off ordering some cocktails I ordered the Tequila Sunrise & my boyfriend ordered the Jack rabbit. Let me tell you these drinks are not watered down you can definitely taste the alcohol in there lol. For an app we got the fries and dip which came with a separate fry seasoning which was DELICIOUS. I wanted to take home that seasoning so bad. The fries were good pretty basic. For the entrees I ordered the carolina bbq ribs and it was pretty good! But didn't WOW me good. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib sandwich and it was good as well, but it was definitely missing something. However- the kale cashew salad was absolutely delicious! Our server was nice, checked on us a few times. Our visit was pleasant, may need to ask the server what do they recommend next time.

What a perfect place to enjoy birthday lunch! Started with a crisp martini which was so balanced and easy to drink, the crush cocktail was also great - citrusy and a little sweet. Had the crispy chicken sandwich, honestly it's perfect. The bread is so soft, chicken is thin and extra crispy and the slaw is crunchy and fresh. The kale salad as a side has some spice, but it's just right! I would have this all the time if it was closer. Our bartender was super kind and friendly, incredible service, ambiance and food! Can't wait to come back again.

Let me start by saying that the place is gorgeous! It has a high-end, elevated vibe, and with that, you kind of expect to ball out... which is exactly what happened during our visit last weekend. They have an al fresco dining area that's so nice especially since the weather that day was amazing. We made a reservation for four at 12:30 PM after doing some wine tasting nearby. This spot was recommended by a friend, and when we booked, the hostess mentioned their chicken sandwich was a best-seller, so of course we had to try it. Drinks: The drinks were fantastic and they definitely didn't cheap out on flavor or alcohol content. Manhattan Cocktail - 8/10 Kickstart - 7/10 Tequila Sunrise - 10/10 The Crush - 9/10 Food: Dip Duo Appetizer - 4/10: Not the greatest. The guac was mid, though the cheese dip was pretty good. Chips were a bit stale. Kale Sashimi - 7/10: Fish was fresh and the kale salad was good, but not mind-blowing. Sashimi Nigiri Plate - 6/10: Fish was fresh, but the rice was dense and too sweet. Prime Rib Sandwich - 8/10: The standout of our order! The meat was super tender and flavorful. Carnitas Sandwich - 7/10: Didn't get to try this myself, but my friend said it was nothing special. Crispy Chicken Sandwich - 5/10: Saying that this was the best-seller was kind of a reach tbh. Nothing special, and for the price, it could use a little more "umph". Service: Service was top-notch! Tamara, our server, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We spent about $250 for everything. Overall: Would we come back? Not anytime soon. Would we recommend it? Yes but with some fair warning and guidance. The experience overall was great because of how beautiful the place is and how excellent the service was, but the food itself was pretty mid.

Service was over the top! Instant recognition and a step ahead ensuring everything needed was delivered. Friends had burgers and they were just right. I had the tuna and the picture is worth 1000 words!

One of my very local favorite cheers bar. The food is very consistent. Menu doesn't change often, but there are specials this trip. I got the Thai chicken salad. What a treat after not having it for over a year. Everything goes so well together in the salad-- the mint the peanuts carrots mango Al dente Spaghetti noodles. Highly recommend. Pretty presentation although mixing it up is best once it arrives in front of you. Choose between the chopsticks or fork and knife. Parrot with California Chardonnay or earthy Pinot Noir.

Either here or Retherford grill you can't go wrong with the food and service. Tried the smoked trout dip which was great. Added some green Tabasco sauce they provided and it made It even better. Saw that they had curry on the menu which looked new. It was tasty and filling. No complaints whatsoever. As always, the food was good and the service was top notch.

I had the best fall of the bone, Campfire ribs. With the best Carolina BBQ sauce I have had in a long time. It was accompanied by a delicious large helping of slaw, that amazingly, was good too! Matt our server at the bar was nice, attentive and busy! But he held it down. It was busy, but somehow we were in and out of there in a timely manner, just intime do have a nice walk home before it got dark, The patio and fireplaces outside were so cute and cozy! Def will be back in the future.

This non pretentious restaurant is highly recommended for any casual lunch... very wine country like decor... simple yet purposeful. Outside the restaurant, there are planter boxes of herbs planted (for use in the restaurant? idk) We were referred here from Harlan Estate winery's host. I had the best tasting prime rib sandwich ever here. And I'm a steak enthusiast. Meat melts in your mouth & the bread is slightly sour dough but soft like freshly baked. 5* The devil eggs are nice. No expert in this dish. 4* meat ball pasta (had a small tastes shared with me) have a refreshing sauce, clean, light & with hints of fresh tomatoes. 4.5* Expedient from food ordering to serving at the table is great for us wanting more time to explore the wine country. But they don't rush you out.. attended to all our requests and last minute add ons with a smile. Highly recommended!

Great spot. Always something fresh and tasty to eat! Service is solid and attentive with a casual ambiance. Shrimp Louis is a key dish of you like shrimp. Form plump shrimp on a crisp lettuce and two dressings All the sushi is great - fresh and nicely presented. Not a fan of the macadamia in the roll but otherwise all great Kale salad is amazing. Fresh and crisp. I recommend this place.

Birthday Celebration starting with the Chocolate Sunday and carrot cake. The Callebaut calletes chocolate is simply divine! Our service from Andie was excellent! She refreshed the cocktail glasses and Recommended that I have my coffee with steamed milk. Properly European. Perfect kickoff!

To be honest I could eat at R&D everyday... great menu and casual decor/vibe... so why only two stars? Inconsistency in service, inconsistent food temp/prep and a remarkable inflexibility. The later being the most confusing. There is a long list of banned drinks (eg. espresso martini, kamikaze, Long Island tea, AMF, etc.) with no explanation why. Inflexiblity shows up in other ways like can't exclude slaw on Little Mo ham sandwich, can't get au jus with prime sandwich, etc. Service is generally good but periodically get servers who would rather be any place else. Inconsistent temp definitely a problem when they are busy. Also some significant variations in food prep.... Eg. Chicken curry with too much vinegar added the second time we tried it. We will continue to go but hope for more consistency and flexibility,

We stopped by here yesterday for an impromptu lunch. It was Mother's Day, so all the indoor tables were booked, but we arrived early enough to grab a couple of seats at the bar, which offers the full menu. I got a classic margarita on the rocks. Nice and refreshing. We ordered the Dip Duo, which is an appetizer of tortilla chips served with a scoop of guacamole and a scoop of jalapeño queso dip (not spicy). Highly recommend! The guacamole was fresh and had just the right hint of lime and the queso dip was a delicious, cheesy contrast. I was on the fence between ordering the carnitas sandwich and the fried chicken sandwich. I decided to go with the chicken this time and wasn't disappointed. The chicken is thin and crispy. The slaw and tomatoes were fresh and the sweet-tangy sauce paired with Swiss cheese was a nice touch. I'd order this again. Note that it doesn't come with any sides, so if you want fries, you'll have to order them separately. My husband ordered the spaghetti with chicken meatballs, which also had a nice sweet tomato sauce. The only regrettable moment was when the bartender cleared my plate with guacamole before I was done with it and before I could say anything. Oh well, honest mistake. I had finished all the chips and was dipping my fries in the guacamole--which just tells you how good it was!

Is it a good place for kids?

They don't have a kids menu but kids are welcome. I bring my kids there all the time (ages 6 and 9).

What are the vegan options here? I see a Mushroom Meatloaf (and saw they had a veggie burger) but both are usually made with eggs. Trying to figure out if there's really any true vegan options here.

Portions are very generous--so much so that we ended up with plenty of leftovers (which definitely came in clutch later that night!). The fried chicken was hands down the best I've ever had--perfectly juicy on the inside with an incredibly crispy, flavorful crust. The house-made chips with sour cream dip were absolutely addictive.

It was a letdown since we came for hubby's birthday and had been wanting to try it for over a year since the last time we were here. Guess we'll have to try again another time. We still decided to sit at the bar. You can either order à la carte from that day's offerings or do the set menu. Thanks to the group next to us, we found out you can also order just the sides if you don't want the main. The main that day was a pork dish with a jalapeno cheddar polenta, but we skipped it since we thought you had to order the whole thing and were already getting the fried chicken add-on. Luckily, we were able to order just the jalapeño cheddar polenta side which was very delicious. Sadly, I think we've officially given up on the fried chicken. I really wanted to like it since everyone seems to rave about it, but it just wasn't for me. The coating was beautifully crisp, but overall it tasted pretty bland and lacked flavor. The hot sauce bottles definitely helped and kind of saved it. The bartender brought out bottles for everyone. Interestingly, the last time we tried the fried chicken (a few years ago), we weren't offered hot sauce at all. The bartender mentioned they've always had it, which makes me think our server back then just didn't bring it out. I remember that visit too, we came for a Friday lunch, sat on the patio (we were the only ones out there), and still weren't offered any. The chicken was also bland back then. That said, the bartender was a nice kid, friendly and welcoming. He said normally he's a server but that day he was at the bar so I'll definitely look out for him again and request him. For drinks, I had a Diet Coke, which comes in a can. Since they're doing cans, I do wish they offered Coke Zero as well since I'm not really a Diet Coke person, but I also didn't want to just stick with water or iced tea with my meal. It was our first time sitting at the bar, and we really enjoyed the experience. I'd definitely sit at the bar again. Ordering à la carte also worked out better for us, especially since dessert that day was a chocolate mousse and I'm not a big chocolate dessert person. We still got one since it was hubby's birthday, and they brought it out with a candle, which was a cute touch. It was $10 and perfect to share, getting a second one just for me would've been a waste.

Chef Thomas Keller is known for precision, discipline, and an almost obsessive attention to detail. His style is refined, technical, and rooted in classic French technique, elevated with modern creativity. Every course reflects that philosophy, clean flavors, flawless execution, and zero shortcuts. The restaurant holds three Michelin stars, the highest distinction, and has been considered one of the best restaurants in the world for many years. We secured a reservation for four at 7:00 PM, which in itself feels like an achievement. There are not many tables for two, so getting a reservation for a pair is extremely difficult. The best approach is to try for a reservation of four or more for the main dining room. Larger groups may find private dining easier to book. The evening runs long, over four hours. It is not rushed at all. By around the sixth course, I was already full, but the progression keeps you engaged. Each dish is small but rich, layered, and intentional. They add additional complimentary courses to the experience! The experience starts in the waiting area inside the restaurant with a welcome toast. Once seated, you are given personalized menus, which adds a thoughtful touch. At the end, they send you home with custom cookies and a chocolate bar, small details that reinforce the experience. For my birthday, they went further, surprising me with a bottle of sparkling wine engraved with my name. That level of personalization felt genuine. Logistics were straightforward. Parking was easy, we parked across the street. The dinner was prepaid through Tock, which simplifies the process. There are also optional add ons to the tasting menu, like truffle mac and cheese and wagyu beef. Tip is already included and you can add additional tip if you desire! Instead of going to our usual spot (Mustard's Grill), we took a chance at trying this restaurant since we were staying at the hotel. We were on a roll with the appetizers and complimentary cocktail that hotel guests get at the restaurant. The wood-fired charred octopus was perfect--super tender, crispy ends, perfectly cooked--by far my favorite dish at dinner. We also really enjoyed the sourdough bread and butter; crispy edges, soft center, and wonderful flavor. Then came the entrees. I had to try their NY strip, and my husband threw a curveball last minute and went with the duck. I don't know how he knew but he ordered right... My steak looked more like tenderloins, and as soon as it came out, I could see the overcooked, dry edges. About a quarter on each side of both steaks were well done and tough to chew. On top of that, the mushroom sauce and potatoes were super salty. I let the waiter know, and he asked me if I wanted a new one, but even if they made me a new one, I just didn't like the rest of the dish...so I declined. For an $81 entree, I think it should be damn good and properly prepared. Especially with the chance we took from our tried and true restaurant of choice. For dessert, we ended with the budino. It was strong on the caramel flavor, had a nice creamy texture, but I wished we were having the pork chops and lemon meringue pie at MG. Would rather the apps have been bad and the entree + dessert be the showstoppers. What makes it worse is we were 1 of 3 groups there; they weren't busy at all. At least I know now...

The restaurant fronts the upscale North Block Hotel and serves seasonal dishes crafted with regionally farmed, fished, and foraged ingredients. We started with their braised octopus appetizer with salmon roe and their marble sauce. DEE-LICIOUS! Equally prepared and presented was the yellowtail tuna crudo. In both appetizers, the sauce was phenomenal and elevated the dish! For the entree, I had their vermilion rockfish. The fish was perfectly cooked and once again, the laksa broth gave the dish that extra satisfying flavor profile. For dessert, their tiramisu and butterscotch budino capped a fantastic dining experience. With so many exceptional restaurants in Yountville and the Napa Valley, the Restaurant at North Block should be high on your list to enjoy an exceptional dinner.

We were able to book on OpenTable just a few days before, which made making the reservation easy. Upon entering, the restaurant was full and had a classic bistro vibe. Everyone was dressed nicely but not too fancy. You definitely want to wear a nice shirt and dress up a bit if you are coming here for dinner. We were seated at a round table, which provided plenty of space to talk and enjoy our meal. As a starter, we ordered the onion rings. They were fantastic! Perfectly seasoned, and the homemade ketchup was delightful. The portion was large, but we had no problem finishing them because they were excellent. I had the veggie tostada. It had a good spicy kick that I really enjoyed. I am not sure if it was the salsa or the California chilies (red jalapeños) that gave it that heat. My sister had the famous pork chop and said it was the best she had ever had. My mom had the lamb, and she said it was divine. She also got some mashed potatoes to share, and the garlic flavor and texture were both delicious. We ordered two desserts and coffee to finish the meal. The lemon tart was fantastic! I have not had meringue this good since I was in French culinary school. I would come here for this tart alone. The coffee was a delicious close to the meal along with the dessert. We will most definitely be back to bring my husband and enjoy more family meals together. Thank you to our server and the hostess for being so accommodating and for providing us with excellent service.

I went with the classic cheeseburger topped with mushrooms and jalapeño, and wow... this burger was downright scrumptious. Juicy, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. The fries alongside it? My absolute favorite is the Dang Dazy milk chocolate--its velvety texture paired with crunchy almond and hazelnut bits creates the perfect balance. The Earl Grey dark chocolate was also incredibly good. While the richness of the dark chocolate leans slightly dominant, you can still catch those subtle, fragrant notes of Earl Grey in each bite. At around $3 per bonbon, it's definitely on the pricier side--but considering the quality, creativity, and variety of flavors, I think it's completely justified. It's especially heartbreaking to share that this is widely considered one of the best artisan chocolate shops in California, and they're now closing their only store in Yountville due to slow business and rising costs. Losing a place like this feels like losing a true gem. If you're anywhere near Yountville, make the trip and show them some love while you still can.

It wasn't the coffee I was expecting to find like with an espresso machine with a barista there to make it. I didn't end up getting coffee but the chocolate looked delicious! I ended up picking out a selection of chocolate for the small size box and brought it home to share with my boyfriend. All of the flavors we tried were delicious! My least favorite was the vanilla rum. It felt pretty basic and not very vanilla tasting. Earl grey and pistachio were some of our favorites from the box! I love that the box came with a picture map of the chocolates so you knew which one was which. Each one was beautifully painted and it really made the box of chocolate as a gift feel special. This was a great place to stop to pick up a sweet treat!

On our most recent visit, we went on a Thursday evening and were seated right away. I usually prefer sitting outside, but due to the wind, we chose to sit indoors. Since it was later in the evening, we opted for a lighter dinner. My husband and I both ordered the sautéed petrale sole with wild rice, spinach, and lemon herb beurre blanc. Unfortunately, I would rate this dish a 2 out of 5. The sauce lacked flavor, and I couldn't taste the lemon herb beurre blanc at all. It also felt like there wasn't enough sauce, and although we asked for lemon, it never arrived. That said, the ambiance is still a 5 out of 5. The setting is beautiful, and they have a great selection of wine. We've been here multiple times, and this was our only disappointing experience. We'll definitely be back.

The grounds are gorgeous -- the outdoor seating area, the tasting tables, the garden and obviously the vines. What a great location! We started with the crudité which was fantastic. As basic as this dish can be -- everything was fresh, crisp, cold, and the sesame miso black garlic dipping sauce was wonderful. We also grabbed the tuna tartare and I had the soup du jour which was a divine garlic & parmesan soup. The soup was excellent -- perfect amount of garlic without being overpowering, really well-balanced and smooth, and the parmesan added the perfect little bite. For entrees, my wife and youngest split the chicken parmesan sandwich, my 15 year old went with the filet mignon with asparagus and mac n' cheese, and I did the seabass (duh) with coconut rice and a lobster hot & sour broth. The chicken parmesan was "good" -- nothing special according to the ladies, but the truffle fries made them quite happy. The filet was "excellent" -- perfectly cooked, a nice mushroom cream sauce, and the veggies and mac n' cheese were tasty. My dish was the highlight -- seabass perfectly cooked, rice was great, and the lobster broth was exceptional. I basically licked the plate. We were totally full for our "light" lunch -- but had to dive in on the desserts based on how good everything was. The GF Chocolate torte was unreal -- SO RICH -- we only ate 1/2 of it between the 4 of us -- but was great. The rice pudding got a "solid" score from the ladies and the cheesecake was awesome. It was really a great meal -- good bar scene -- will definitely work it into our rotation going forward.
