Still two stars... service is very inconsistent... outstanding staff like Mallory who has great energy and dour hostess who took offense at us requesting a different place because original location was so cold (it's 71 degrees outside and air conditioning is cranked up). Since we moved we lost Mallory as our server and our new server seemed unhappy with life. Btw, asked for straws twice abs never got them. Food generally is very good... Osaka roll, carnitas sandwich and Sunday were very good. Special of black beans and rice had way too much Mexican oregano. We still go for food but our expectations for service remain low although we will be requesting Mallory next time.

We tried R&D Kitchen (a Hillstone brand) for lunch specifically because they had dog-friendly outdoor seating. Before coming, we called to confirm and were told dogs were allowed on the patio, first come first serve, and that the patio had a smaller menu than inside. No problem. We arrived right at 11am and were immediately seated outside with our 9lb Yorkie, who quietly sat on my lap the entire time without making a sound. We ordered drinks and food, drinks arrived, and then about 10 minutes later a woman came over to tell us our dog could not sit on my lap and had to be on the ground. That's completely fine if it's the policy -- but no one mentioned this on the phone, when we were seated, NOR when our waitress took our order. Had we known upfront, we simply would have left before ordering. At that point we asked to make the food to-go. We ordered the starter salad, fries, a Cubano sandwich, and a carnitas sandwich. Then we were told they "don't do fries to-go" because the kitchen says they don't travel well. We explained we were literally going to sit across the way at nearby public seating and eat immediately, but were told we still couldn't eat there as that was their property. The whole experience became unnecessarily frustrating and inconsistent. In the end, they brought us the fries anyway, and we packed them ourselves into a to-go box. (This is the first time I've heard of a restaurant not doing take out fries when on the menu.) We ended up finding a picnic table elsewhere to eat lunch. The food itself was okay but nothing memorable. My partner enjoyed the Cubano. The fries were a good crisp. The salad was fine, though the croutons were oddly soft instead of crispy. The carnitas sandwich wasn't really for me -- I prefer carnitas with more flavor and crispiness. Overall, the issue wasn't really the dog policy -- it was the poor communication and inconsistent handling of the situation. Unfortunately, after this experience, we won't be returning. Since we left, I only got a picture of the drinks. The rose was average but the cocktail was good.

I have been to many Hillstone/Houston properties in my lifetime. I love Los Altos Grill and Rutherford Grill. At R&D, the staff and especially the hostesses are so serious and don't seem to like their jobs. It's quite disappointing.

What a perfect place to enjoy birthday lunch! Started with a crisp martini which was so balanced and easy to drink, the crush cocktail was also great - citrusy and a little sweet. Had the crispy chicken sandwich, honestly it's perfect. The bread is so soft, chicken is thin and extra crispy and the slaw is crunchy and fresh. The kale salad as a side has some spice, but it's just right! I would have this all the time if it was closer. Our bartender was super kind and friendly, incredible service, ambiance and food! Can't wait to come back again.

Let me start by saying that the place is gorgeous! It has a high-end, elevated vibe, and with that, you kind of expect to ball out... which is exactly what happened during our visit last weekend. They have an al fresco dining area that's so nice especially since the weather that day was amazing. We made a reservation for four at 12:30 PM after doing some wine tasting nearby. This spot was recommended by a friend, and when we booked, the hostess mentioned their chicken sandwich was a best-seller, so of course we had to try it. Drinks: The drinks were fantastic and they definitely didn't cheap out on flavor or alcohol content. Manhattan Cocktail - 8/10 Kickstart - 7/10 Tequila Sunrise - 10/10 The Crush - 9/10 Food: Dip Duo Appetizer - 4/10: Not the greatest. The guac was mid, though the cheese dip was pretty good. Chips were a bit stale. Kale Sashimi - 7/10: Fish was fresh and the kale salad was good, but not mind-blowing. Sashimi Nigiri Plate - 6/10: Fish was fresh, but the rice was dense and too sweet. Prime Rib Sandwich - 8/10: The standout of our order! The meat was super tender and flavorful. Carnitas Sandwich - 7/10: Didn't get to try this myself, but my friend said it was nothing special. Crispy Chicken Sandwich - 5/10: Saying that this was the best-seller was kind of a reach tbh. Nothing special, and for the price, it could use a little more "umph". Service: Service was top-notch! Tamara, our server, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We spent about $250 for everything. Overall: Would we come back? Not anytime soon. Would we recommend it? Yes but with some fair warning and guidance. The experience overall was great because of how beautiful the place is and how excellent the service was, but the food itself was pretty mid.

Visited this restaurant after visiting the winery's in St.Helena. They had plenty of parking and a beautiful outdoor setting. They had one menu for food and one menu for drinks which should is honestly a good thing when visiting restaurants so they can focus on each menu item. We started off ordering some cocktails I ordered the Tequila Sunrise & my boyfriend ordered the Jack rabbit. Let me tell you these drinks are not watered down you can definitely taste the alcohol in there lol. For an app we got the fries and dip which came with a separate fry seasoning which was DELICIOUS. I wanted to take home that seasoning so bad. The fries were good pretty basic. For the entrees I ordered the carolina bbq ribs and it was pretty good! But didn't WOW me good. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib sandwich and it was good as well, but it was definitely missing something. However- the kale cashew salad was absolutely delicious! Our server was nice, checked on us a few times. Our visit was pleasant, may need to ask the server what do they recommend next time.

One of my very local favorite cheers bar. The food is very consistent. Menu doesn't change often, but there are specials this trip. I got the Thai chicken salad. What a treat after not having it for over a year. Everything goes so well together in the salad-- the mint the peanuts carrots mango Al dente Spaghetti noodles. Highly recommend. Pretty presentation although mixing it up is best once it arrives in front of you. Choose between the chopsticks or fork and knife. Parrot with California Chardonnay or earthy Pinot Noir.

This non pretentious restaurant is highly recommended for any casual lunch... very wine country like decor... simple yet purposeful. Outside the restaurant, there are planter boxes of herbs planted (for use in the restaurant? idk) We were referred here from Harlan Estate winery's host. I had the best tasting prime rib sandwich ever here. And I'm a steak enthusiast. Meat melts in your mouth & the bread is slightly sour dough but soft like freshly baked. 5* The devil eggs are nice. No expert in this dish. 4* meat ball pasta (had a small tastes shared with me) have a refreshing sauce, clean, light & with hints of fresh tomatoes. 4.5* Expedient from food ordering to serving at the table is great for us wanting more time to explore the wine country. But they don't rush you out.. attended to all our requests and last minute add ons with a smile. Highly recommended!

I had the best fall of the bone, Campfire ribs. With the best Carolina BBQ sauce I have had in a long time. It was accompanied by a delicious large helping of slaw, that amazingly, was good too! Matt our server at the bar was nice, attentive and busy! But he held it down. It was busy, but somehow we were in and out of there in a timely manner, just intime do have a nice walk home before it got dark, The patio and fireplaces outside were so cute and cozy! Def will be back in the future.

Is it a good place for kids?

They don't have a kids menu but kids are welcome. I bring my kids there all the time (ages 6 and 9).

We got here right at our reservation time and were seated at a long table. What I liked were the tagliarini bolognese al centro ($32) and the wagyu polpette ($25). The calamari ($25) was decent and the patatine fritte e tartufo ($16) had big portions but could've used a little salt. The carbonara ($30) was cooked al dente and while we took the suggestion from the server we would've preferred a bit softer. My first time at Bouchon was for a 1:1 celebratory dinner on Mom's birthday on Friday, December 23,…read more2022. Mom had visited here years before and wanted to return. The fact that she wanted come back was an indicator that this restaurant would be a good experience as Mom has very high standards. According to Anthony Bourdain, "A bouchon is a uniquely Lyonnaise institution, a casual, laid-back kind of a pub/bistro with a limited, usually old-school menu and always, always an unpretentious vibe. People come here to unwind, to relax, and to eat with abandon." Bouchon is chef Thomas Keller's (The French Laundry) heartfelt homage to the traditional French bistro in Napa Valley's charming 1.5 square mile town of Yountville. Located across the street from V Marketplace on Washington Street, we easily found free parking in the lot adjacent to the market. The restaurant is housed in a cozy red building that sits right next door to its sibling bakery. Decorated with whites, reds and marble tones, the velvet banquette seating and polished brass accents pop out through the wood furnishings and mosaic floor design. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The place was buzzing with almost every table occupied in the tightly-seated dining room. The seasons dictate what's on offer at Bouchon. The menu features a variety of traditional French dishes that perfectly highlight the essence of bistro dining. Upon seating, we were served a complimentary ramekin of pistachios alongside some butter and pain d'épi, the classic "stalk of wheat" variation on the classic baguette. Below are what we ordered: Escargots de Bourgogne ($19.75) - Six Burgundy snails cooked in parsley-garlic butter, each topped with Bouchon Bakery's puff pastry, were all absolute perfection, as expected. Soupe à l'Oignon ($19.75) - A true test of a French bistro is its French onion soup, and Bouchon's comforting, piping hot bowl of caramelized sweet onions, savoury beef jus, topped with country bread and melted Comté cheese, did not disappoint. Served in a proper vessel? Yes. Baked with a toasted baguette slice and ooey, gooey cheese topper? Check. The flavour of the soup base was also richly robust. I couldn't decide between the Saumon Poêlé ($38.00) and the Steak Frites ($47.50). Since our waiter said that I could have a side of the sauce au poivre from the Poitrine de Boeuf au Poivre ($45.00) with the Steak Frites, I had to go this route as it's one of my favourites. No regrets at all on my choice; I savoured every bite of the delicious pan-seared prime flat iron steak topped with maitre d'hôtel butter and side of crispy French fries. The additional sauce au poivre was the cherry on top. Steak Frites truly is the quintessential bistro entrée and Bouchon's was excellent. Service was great. As a sweet birthday gift, Mom was given a pack of chocolate brownies, served on a plate alongside a lit candle to blow and make a wish. Dinner was remarkable. I'm not surprised that Mom chose to return here for her birthday dinner. I loved Bouchon so much that it's now my favourite restaurant in Napa Valley. Yes, I was able to decide this from my first visit. I most definitely will return. It's a must!

One of the guests in our party raved about the fried chicken here, so we opted for seats at the bar to order ala carte. We had the French onion dip and chips for appetizers, and it was absolutely divine. The dip was rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, while the chips were exceptionally crisp without being greasy. It was one of those appetizers that disappeared from the table almost immediately. Of course, the star of the meal was the fried chicken. The coating was wonderfully crispy, and the meat inside was tender and juicy. Personally, I found the seasoning a touch mild, but a few dashes of hot sauce brought everything together beautifully. For context, my benchmark for fried chicken is Willie Mae's in New Orleans, which is high praise in itself. What really elevated the experience was the atmosphere and service. The bartenders were incredibly friendly, energetic, and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. Their enthusiasm added to the fun, relaxed vibe of the afternoon. The ordering process is simple--you place your order at one window, pick it up from another, and wait for your name to be called. When we reached the counter, the staff was fine, and we ordered the Three-Piece Fried Chicken, Shrimp Po' Boy, and a side of Coleslaw. We were told the wait would be 30-40 minutes. The waiting experience, however, was extremely frustrating. There is some outdoor seating, but I wish it were reserved for customers only. Many people were using the tables for their own picnics, leaving paying customers with nowhere to sit. A few more umbrellas would also make a huge difference, especially when you're waiting outside for 40+ minutes in the sun. Since we were hungry, we walked over to Burgers & Half Bottles, ordered lunch there, finished eating, and returned to Addendum. By then, about 45 minutes had passed, yet our order still wasn't ready. Around us, many other customers who had ordered at the same time were also still waiting. The pickup area became complete chaos. People crowded around the pickup window because there was no clear system or communication. Even the manager from the main restaurant came over to help, but the process never really improved. Several customers around us ended up cancelling their orders out of frustration. We finally received our food after **1 hour and 5 minutes**, and only because we stood right by the pickup window the entire time to make sure our name wasn't missed. Judging by the conversations around us, we weren't the only ones disappointed by the experience. As for the food, the **Three-Piece Fried Chicken** was definitely the highlight and the reason the restaurant is so well known. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and flavorful. It came with macaroni salad and cornbread, both of which were decent but nothing memorable. The **Shrimp Po' Boy** was underwhelming. The shrimp had a noticeable seafood smell, lacked seasoning, and tasted quite bland. The **coleslaw** was the biggest disappointment--it was overwhelmingly sour, almost like eating straight vinegar, and we ended up throwing it away. Overall, while the fried chicken was excellent, I'm not sure it's worth waiting over an hour in an unorganized system, especially with the limited seating and lack of communication. There are definitely improvements that could make the experience match the reputation.

This place is absolutely amazing!…read more Ambience: The exterior was unassuming but the inside was colorfully decorated with unique art pieces. Classy but with relaxed and happy vibes. Service: The hostess and servers were warm and welcoming. They remembered it's our anniversary and reserved a beautiful and spacious seating for us. Gave us complimentary wine and split all the appetizers into halves for us to share. What a thoughtful gesture! Food: So unique and wonderfully executed! Their famous pork chop was worth all the hype! We also loved the black bean tortilla soup, corn tamales, 3 greens salad, the oven smoked duck, lime tart dessert and a flight of Pinot. Everything was busting with creative and delicious flavors! Will definitely dine here again! Thank you for making our anniversary feel so special!

That and the fact that they have never been to Napa/Sonoma Area in their 36 years in America, meant that my brother and I had to plan a trip. My brother selected Mustards Grill. It was along the way to our reservation to Beringer and continently along St. Helena Highway. Despite hearing about Mustards being a staple within the Yountville area, it was so my first time trying it too. We had a reservation for 4 and after getting taken care of by the courteous host and being welcomed by our waitress, we were left with waters and the menu. To get the most of the experience, my brother thought we should all share several items. We shared their famous Pork Chops, Duck Confit, Ribs and Cornbread, Squash Risotto, and a side of Green Beans. We were offered fresh bread and butter prior to the arrival of our entrees and shortly after enjoying the soft pillowy bread, we were ready for more. My parents, being Cantonese and coming from the restaurant background, really care about having fresh and quality ingredients and letting the flavors shine - not letting sauces dictate the dish. Despite it being American fare, they quite enjoyed each dish and went back for additional helpings after giving a small initial taste of each item. Our visit to Mustards Grill ended up being a joyous meal where my parents got more exposure to the wonders of quality American cuisine as well as marked a good start to the day we were spending in wine county.
