Cuban Sandwich
Amanda T.

One of the best Cuban meals I have had. Beautiful decor, fast & friendly service. We had yucca fries and tostones as appetizers and then an excellent Cubano for our main course. Great food and excellent prices.

Title: A Culinary Time Machine to Authentic Cuban Flavors! Review: Embargo 62 is a hidden gem that transported me back to the vibrant and flavorful streets of Miami, where I first fell in love with Cuban cuisine. As someone who moved away from Miami in 2003, I had been searching for an authentic taste of Cuba ever since. Finally, my taste buds have found their paradise at Embargo 62. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, the atmosphere embraced me with its warm and inviting ambiance. The friendly staff greeted me with genuine smiles, making me feel right at home. The extensive menu boasts an impressive variety of classic Cuban dishes, each prepared with meticulous attention to detail and love. The first bite of their famous Ropa Vieja instantly transported me back to the bustling streets of Miami. The tender and succulent shredded beef, marinated in a rich tomato-based sauce, was an explosion of flavors that danced on my palate. The traditional black beans and rice served alongside were the perfect complement, providing a delightful balance to the dish. Another standout dish was the mouthwatering Lechon Asado. The slow-roasted pork was incredibly tender, with a crispy skin that added an irresistible texture. The flavors were perfectly balanced, capturing the essence of traditional Cuban cooking. It was like a nostalgic reunion with the flavors I had missed for so long. Embargo 62's dedication to authenticity extends beyond their savory dishes. Their refreshing Mojitos, made with fresh mint and perfectly muddled lime, are the epitome of a true Cuban cocktail. The bar staff's expertise in mixology shines through in every sip, transporting you to a tropical paradise with each refreshing gulp. The icing on the cake was the impeccable service. The attentive and knowledgeable staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Their passion for Cuban cuisine was evident in their recommendations and willingness to answer any questions I had. Embargo 62 has not only satisfied my craving for authentic Cuban food but has exceeded all expectations. It is a haven for anyone seeking a taste of Cuba in a cozy and inviting setting. Whether you're a Miami ex-pat longing for a familiar flavor or a culinary adventurer in search of something new, Embargo 62 is an absolute must-visit. In a world where authenticity can be hard to find, Embargo 62 effortlessly captures the essence of Cuban cuisine. It has become my go-to place for a culinary journey back to the flavors of my past. Don't miss out on this hidden gem that will transport your taste buds to the streets of Miami. ¡Viva Embargo 62! Here is the image I generated for you.

Vaca Frita with ro and bean combo (morros) and sweet plantains.

The only authentic Cuban restaurant in Chattanooga! I was Born and raised in Miami FL with a wife that comes from an all Cuban family. This place is legit! My absolute favorite dish is Vaca Frita served with Arros Moro and Maduros (skirt steak with rice and bean combo and plantains). I'm so glad they added it to the menu recently. The Ropa Vieja is my 2nd favorite. It's basically a beef stew with amazing flavor. We've had every dish, and they are all delicious! The only thing this restaurant is missing is a liquor license so they can serve Mojiotos and Rum and coke, however, I believe they do serve beer and sangria. For lunch, the Cuban and the Miami sandwich are my go to. The only authentic Cuban sandwich in Chattanooga.

We went to Embargo 62 with a group size of 6. We had excellent service. Very cool Cuban / Latin themed setting. The place was very clean with nice indoor and outdoor seating options. The food was all wonderful as expected. I had a classic Cuban Sandwich, it made me think I was down in Miami. The bread was authentic. One person in our party had the shrimp in the white wine sauce, it looked amazing. I will definitely go back. You should give it a try. My bill was 2- Sandwiches both with fries 1- Dr Pepper (Bottle) and 2-Draft beers. $38. I was very pleased.

This restaurant is pretty authentic for Cuban food in Chattanooga, Tennessee. There are definitely some Central American influences in some of the dishes, but it's overall a good representation. The food is tasty and prepared well. Pleasant ambiance and good music. Server was friendly. Overall, a good experience.

Delicious! Great Food & Serving Sizes! This was a surprise find for us this week! We were checking near where we were at a pro for some food and thought we would give this place a try! I like Cuban food but usually the serving size is so small at most Cuban spots. NOT HERE! This place give a good portion and leaves you with a happy belly! I must say the Vieja Roja was wonderful. Muy muy bien! The service was friendly. Parking isn't easy though here, so wear cozy shoes for the hike in! Thanks guys for the great food! I'll be back!

I've been wanting to come here for several years because I love Cuban food, but just never had the chance with life and a pandemic getting in the way. Finally ate here before heading to the movies. I ordered the braised oxtail with plantains and black beans and my friend ordered a Cuban sandwich. I also had a guava cider. My food was excellent, and there was plenty of it, both meat and plantains. The oxtail was generous and had a lot of meat on each piece, which was tender and delicious. The plantains were cooked to perfection with the perfect caramelization. The black beans had a ton of flavor. My friend said her Cuban was also good. I did expect this place to have a more upscale feeling. It was more hole-in-the-wall like, but the decor was beachy with cool light fixtures, like you were in a food shack on the beach in Cuba. They advertise as a rum bar on a sign out front and in the name on the menu, but I saw zero liquor in sight, only beer and cider, not even wine, which was disappointing. The service was good, and our food came out super fast. I'd definitely eat here again.

Can't recommend this cocktail bar enough!…read more We visited the bar late night while staying at the hotel and it did not disappoint. Despite clearly being short staffed and having a busy night - we were greeted almost immediately and encouraged to help ourselves to a seat. We sat at a table away from the bar (only one available) and a server came by to take our drink order. Before he could return, another employee - who was running food to another table - immediately came over to us after to see if we wanted to order food (which we did!). She took our order, then the drinks arrived and before we knew it the food was out and was incredible! The menu is quite limited - and even more so when you one of you doesn't eat meat - and yet we were able to make a meal out of 2 caesar salads, the hummus plate and the deviled eggs. And don't even get me started on the cocktails! We started with a Manhattan and an Espresso Martini that were perfectly crafted. And then for our dessert round switched to their signature Old Fashioned. Each one was better than the next! Thanks for an incredible time, Whiskey Thief. We will definitely we back!

At first, servers were scarce, but as I got up to go to the bar, the bartender must've seen me and was on his way. He took our initial drink order. At $14 per glass of wine, we just went for the bottle at $54 and a charcuterie board at $27. We are on vacation, so why not. The view is excellent. The weather cooperated. People watching from on high was fun, and the nature scenery was nice. Service was a little slow, but not an imposition, however, if it gets much busier, that could be a thing. We later learned they previously had a $10 cover, but we did not get asked for this and it must be a thing of the past, or I understand it is waived for guests of the Edwin Hotel (the bar's affiliated with the Edwin) but we had dinner reservations at Whitebird, the affiliated restaurant. The charcuterie was good with cheeses, cured meats, jams, crackers, etc. all in all, the star is the Al fresco seating and the River, and of course the company of my beautiful wife! So, go for outdoor seating and bring your own beau!

Considering we were 18 ppl he did a great job. We ordered oysters to share. It was not cheap but we enjoyed the food and had a great time

It's not quite a 3 star but didn't quite meet a 4 star either. Let's start with what's great here…read more A great oyster program with delicious oysters from a range of East Coast locations. Wonderful cocktail list with well balanced, well made cocktails. I loved my old fashioned and others enjoyed their drinks too. Very nice, attentive service from the servers although they brought out the oysters without telling us what was what and service was at times bumpy. The interior is nice, with it feeling casual but somewhere you could bring a date. And we enjoyed the lobster cakes which were well done, nice sauce, without overwhelming the sweetness of the lobster itself. So that was positive. Where it failed: the tuna bites on regular and not crispy rice was hard to eat. It was good but a little unruly. The halibut piccatta was VERY dry, almost bordering on inedible. Their special, which was a bento box was not great. The flavors didn't go together and their sushi eggroll had cream cheese which is very gross. Their steak frites was fine if not that memorable. All in all, I would come back for their drinks and their oysters but not sure I would come back for a full meal here.
