    Artichoke Flatbread
    Rose Y.

Eltana has a new wood fired flatbread that is delicious. I had the artichoke one; it was tasty and filling. Enjoy! Full disclosure: I have a small interest in this business. To my credit it is my first time posting about it!

Bagel, Cream Cheese & Double Lox Fixings

Was in need of a quick breakfast and this spot was around the corner from where we were staying. Overall, it was solid, but nothing overly special. Went with the double lox sandwich special and a cold brew, which put me back $25 -- definitely a bit pricy. The toppings including the lox were all very good. I found the bagel to be a bit flat, a bit mealy and didn't get much of the wood oven flavor they advertise. The place is very open and welcoming inside. The staff were fine, but not overly friendly or engaged. Closer to a 3.5, but a 3 feels too low so I'm rounding up.

I was set on running to get a bagel on Christmas Eve morning, but most bagel places were closed for the holidays. Luckily, Eltana was open! I've had Eltana bagels catered at events several times, but haven't actually been to their shop. I ordered a salt bagel with salmon cream cheese. My fiancé is vegan, so he ordered a whole wheat bagel with basil fava bean spread. Our bagels arrived toasted, which we hadn't asked for. Usually I like to get bagels un-toasted when they are fresh, though it was still good! I did like how much salmon was in the salmon cream cheese, and the bagels were good. I liked seeing them bake the bagels in the large wood fire oven at the front of the store. My fiancé was also a big fan of their drip coffee. The beans are sourced from a local micro roastery, was affordable, and a good simple cup of coffee.

This review is for the Too Good To Go surprise bag. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to have enough bagels for both the week and the freezer. This was my first time at Eltana and I personally like how the bagels are a little more manageable in size and that they're naturally a little sweeter. They were fresh with good chew! I liked the cinnamon raisin, whole wheat, and sesame the best. A couple min in the toaster was perfect. Set your expectations because the style is simply different than Ny style.

Rainbow bagel with red pepper walnut hummus

Their Bagel with cream cheese and lox was good, just not as good as the ones I've had in NYC. The bagel to lox ratio was off and definitely needed more of that smoked salmon. However, I did return a few days later and got a rainbow bagel which looked very cool and had their red pepper hummus with cucumbers on it and that was amazing. They have very tasty bagels, that are toasted to order.

When walking into this bagel shop you can see the workers hand rolling the bagels. The service was fast and the workers would easily help with recommendations or clarify anything on the menu. There was lots of seating and room to work or talk with others. The bagel itself was okay there was nothing outstanding but it hit the spot in a pinch. Overall would come back for the vibe and to try the different cream cheese flavors.

This is my second visit and the second time I've been left with the impression that the food rises merely to "okay". The bagel itself is fine. I got the egg, cheese, turkey bacon sandwich. It is dry and lacks flavor. The egg would be better if it were cooked less and more gently, with some salt. Mozzarella never has any flavor, so cheddar or something like Gouda would be a better choice. Turkey bacon may be better for my cardiovascular health, but it is a big disappointment for something with "bacon" in the name. Service was prompt and friendly. The interior has nice windows and is clean. The toilets are also acceptably clean.

Lox Plate (1 of 3 identical pieces)

Anywhere you go for a bagel and lox in Seattle, it's going to be $12-20, averaging $16 or so in this area. But the quality/quantity truly varies, and of the many o' spots I've sought out the right one - eltana has shown to have the freshest ingredients and most reasonable amounts of food for the average pricey price ($15.75). The photo attached is just 1 of 3 almost identical pieces I assembled from what comes with the lox plate! It comes disassembled, but this was everything in the box split equally on each of the 3 provided bagel halves. This was with ~heavy shmear~ (no upcharge for that btw). It's simple - a great bagel, this homemade cream cheese of sorts, "fresh" smoked salmon, plentiful capers and pickled additions, and cucumbers. Note: this rating is for this menu item alone bc it's been a venture of mine, but happy to be able to report out in it!

Everything bagel with spicy garlic cream cheese.

Exactly what I needed that morning. A fresh bagel and food coffee. The wood fired bagel did add a little something different. I ordered the everything bagel with spicy garlic cream cheese. Staff was friendly and I enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the day before getting it started.

    Bagel with plain cream cheese

Easy breakfast place! Came here for breakfast and we ordered two bagels with plain cream cheese and lox spread respectively, together with a chai latte. While we liked the bagels & drinks, it was also nothing out of the ordinary. We like how spacious the place is as well, making the dining experience very comfortable. The staff were also very nice and friendly - would recommend if you're looking for something easy for breakfast!

OK first thing to note, Eltana makes Montreal style bagels, so they're more dense, chewy and smaller than New York style bagels. They're also sweet (Eltana boils their in honey water). You have to change your expectations or else you will come out disappointed. The bagels here are delicious and you can tell the quality when you bite into them. I particularly love the everything bagel. They put the toppings on the top and bottoms of the bagels so you get deliciousness in each bite even if you're eating a bagel half. Everything bagel with za'atar scallion cream cheese - I echo the other reviewers who said that the amount of cream cheese is a bit on the light side. A lot of it is caught up in the middle hole of the bagel as well, so it's very uneven. The flavor of the cheese is pretty mild-there's scallion pieces and flavor, but it's hard to detect the sumac unless you're looking for it. Everything bagel with spicy garlic cream cheese - Wow, this was spicy! After having the za'atar scallion cream cheese, I was wondering if this flavor was going to be similarly wan. It was almost too spicy, but it worked great with the garlic flavor. There were chopped pieces of garlic inside to make a pungent spread. Bagel, cream cheese, and lox special (with tomato, cucumber, onion and capers) - Maybe I was expecting too much, but for $11.75 I was expecting more than four tiny pieces of lox on my sesame bagel. There seemed to be an imbalance of the ingredients for this. There were two large, thickly cut slices of tomato, with each slice the diameter of the bagel. Then, there was a small container of large capers, but too many to put on the bagel. The onions were also in a separate container, but not enough. There was a large pile of cucumber slices. I naively tried to pile on all the ingredients but it lead to a messy conclusion as everything slid out as soon as I took a bite. The cream cheese seemed to lubricate the ingredients' exits from the bagel on the opposite side. They really need to rethink how they allocate the components, because the amount of lox isn't enough to consume it as two bagel halfs, but also untenable as a sandwich. I will not be getting this again. This place will have me coming back for their bagels sans schmear (or get a schmear tub). The bagels good enough to stand on their own, which is a testament to their quality. Do not get the lox special, or else you will be sorely regretting it.

a hair in my cold and wet lox bagel

Whatever you do, stick to ordering only a bagel as is and toasted! This was my first time at Eltana in this area as I've only been to the one on CapHill and never had problems. When I walked, in the teenage workers behind the counter seemed frazzled and disorganized. One of them seemed unnecessarily busy and stressed out even though no customers were in line and everyone else seemed to be calmly sitting and eating. Also there is no need for 8 people to be crowded around the bagel making station at once. An assembly line process would probably make them more effective and efficient. The energy and vibe of seeing those workers work (?) were not it and really did not make me feel clean or comfortable as a customer. Anyway... I ordered a lox bagel to go and it was messy, wet, cold and I FOUND A HAIR IN IT. I was hesitate to even complain or walk the 3 blocks back in the rain, but it had to be brought to their attention in case the situation could have happened again to other customers. Fortunately the manager on site was kind enough to refund me and give me a toasted hot bagel free of charge (although I was also hesitate to eat anything else but I was hungry!!) so I'll give them an extra star. My latte was mediocre warm and tasted like milk with a splash of drip coffee. Hoping they have retrained their workers sanitation, cleanliness, taste of products and behavior in front of customers, especially for first time customers! Hoping they get better so they can maintain good retention!
