Gave this place a second try and ordered takeaway. Hubby and I ordered their fiery fries, mushroom Swiss burger in a lettuce wrap, and their Sriracha chicken sandwich. Total came out to approximately $40. What's hot - Menu. Pretty decent menu. There are vegan options, as well. That you can customize your burger, such as substituting a lettuce wrap for the bun, is also great. - Packaging. Aside from the packaging of the fries, which is explained below, the burgers were wrapped up well. They also labeled the wrappers on the outside, so we could tell which one was exactly which order. Helpful. Additionally, my mushroom burger was wrapped well in the lettuce and did not fall apart easily, which I really appreciated, because that's less of a mess. - Quality. The toppings to my burger- tomatoes, onions and lettuce were all fresh. The jalapeños were decently spicy and their spicy relish on their fiery fries are pretty good, as well. Good flavor. - Service. Our order was ready within the appropriate estimated time they gave us. What's not - Fries. Needs work. They're soft and soggy. To be fair, the spicy radish sauce on their fiery fries is pretty spicy and has a good flavor. However, the texture of their fries is a detractor. - Packaging. Their fries were not in a takeaway container. Instead, it was sandwiched between 2 cardboard bowl containers. Messy and another detractor. - Quality. Not the best, but not bad. I've had better. This is not the first place to come to mind when I think of good burgers. - Portions. Not enough to get us full, including the side of fries we ordered. - Price. We three stopped by for our dinner. The place is neat and simple. We ordered and paid. We looked up the receipt and realized one of us ordered the similar to their signature- called elevation burger but it came with two patties while I ordered custom with one patty. So I immediately went to the cashier and told that I ordered that but wanted it in the signature- elevation burger instead of my custom which is exactly same as their elevation except 2 patties. The cashier stated she can't do that and I have to pay $4.23 for extra patty. While if I changed it to elevation burger and it's only $1 difference. I know they're able to adjust and change my order to elevation burger without any issue. But unfortunately the cashier refused. So rate for customer satisfaction is none but only can give 1 star. I don't know if this is an Elevation thing, but I had no idea it came with two patties or that there wasn't any lettuce in the burger. When this place first opened, the food was good, and I appreciated all the variety on the menu. Unfortunately, they have gone downhill over the years. It is still great that they offer chicken, veggie burgers, and gluten free buns or lettuce wrap options, to accommodate most dietary restrictions. It wasn't cooked long enough for my liking, although it was savory and tasty...I took that home and gave it some more heat before I finished it. Next up was their Impossible burger (pictured with pickles, lettuce, onion, tomato, mustard and ketchup $8). Now this burger I crushed. I'm not a huge fan of the Impossible nor Beyond meat brands, however this burger was thinly sliced, hot off the grill, and was simply a good take on such a nostalgic and classic sandwich. I also tried their Elevation fries, Onion Rings, and their strawberry banana shake. The fries were different...a tad bit over saturated with toppings, but strangely delectable with each fork pull. The onion rings were onion rings...nothing negative to say about those...they served their purpose. That shake...was disappointing. Maybe it was the media hype or word on the street, but I've heard statements like "It's the best burger ever." On a day trip to Hyattsville, I decided to check it out for myself. After a 30 minute lunch there, I can say it is NOT the best burger you'll ever eat. Elevation Burger is in the heart of the newly developed downtown Hyattsville, but the space itself is nothing special. There are standard fast casual tables in an open space and some window seating. It's organic and thy sell organic products like Honest Tea (winning), but the food itself isn't special. I had the chicken spicy sandwich and it was bland. My wife had the half the guilt burger and wasn't impressed. The fries were not bad, simple, but not bad. My wife's been giving me the guilts for eating animals, so I decided that today would be the death of several potatoes and other veggies and I'd be able to satisfy my hunger for a cheeseburger. I would give this place 3 and 1/2 stars if I could. There are a few reasons that I am docking them their stars so let me explain... I went in right before noon with a friend. We each got a create your own single burger with cheddar cheese. We split an order of simple fries and a fountain drink. Just that was a little over $16. I realize it is organic and grass fed and whatever but seriously?! So with my wallet hurting I went and got a drink. I tried the Wild Bill (I think that is what it was called) root beer. It was really good but just a bit to sweet for me. So I decided on a coke while my friend easily found seating. Food came quickly and I hoped that this 16ish bucks would be worth it. The fries were a good amount, easily split between us. They were thinner then I would of like but they were ok. Nothing spectacular. I dipped it in a side of the siracha mayo which was good. It had just the right amount of kick. I also got elevation sauce on the side. I will say I have no idea what is in it or what it tastes like. It has a smaller kick of heat but ends on a cooler note. I wasn't so much of a fan. The burger. Let's talk about the main event. The cheese wasn't melted but it was soft and getting there. I would want them to put the cheese on the burger on the grill so it has the heat to melt. The burger itself was great! It was juicy and succulent. Cooked to perfection. The bread wasn't overwhelming and complimented it nicely. The place was clean and the staff friendly. I would go back for just the burger and skip the fries and drink. I feel conflicted writing this review. The only reason I dragged my butt to this place was because their veggie burger came highly recommended to me. So on a saturday evening, I came here to try their veggie burger. Here is the good - the Veggie patty inside my burger was legit - it was more than just lentils/ beans (i abhor beans) and was super flavorful. The bun was also good. They skimpped majorly on my toppings - like 1 piece of grilled onion (seriously?!), but the kicker bummer - their cheese sucks! It's the kind of cheese that tasted and felt like rubber. It was horrible - both the cheddar and the swiss cheese. And I can tell you now - DO NOT try their grilled cheese for the same reason above - the CHEESE in the grilled CHEESE was horrible! The Fiery fires (mis-spelled on their menu) sounded great, but were executed poorly. The fries were soggy, the CHEESE (again) was rubbery and the jalapenos were old and sad. OMG When are they coming to Baltimore? I was in D.C and we drove all the way to Bethesda during rush hour traffic to get a burger. The Burger and fries were so amazing. This place was one step up from Five Guys. The Restaurant was really clean. Including the bathrooms. There was no long lines. Our order was ready in less than five minutes. So! It pains me to have to give such a bad review for a relatively decent looking restaurant. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we were heavily disappointed with our meal. The burgers here are super basic and for what you get art anything to write home about. They use simple store-bought ingredients. Now I know that many places do this but at least they don't have them still sitting in the bottle. There was no one here around dinner time and that should've been our first inclination that something was not quite right. And I wish I had read the reviews prior to coming. Because when we left my boyfriend stomach started hurting really bad and it took us almost a day and a half for him to recover. I never keep up with coupons or deals, but I managed to remember my "you get the 7th patty for free" card. The sandwich was tasty, like the kind of burger you get off the grill tasty and I really like that sharp cheddar cheese they use! And I noticed something else quite interesting. My sister, Gwen and I ate here on 7/17/2011. I just wish that they served turkey burgers - I am TRYING to stay away from beef. They do serve veggie burgers and my sister was happy with hers. I had the Veggie Burger #1, as suggested by Hue K. My friend ordered the #2. Mine was the taste winner. Still, it's just a preformed patty like the frozen foods section variety. I liked the flavor. I didn't know I could get cheese on mine. The counter gal was not really helpful. The caramelized onions were just tiny pieces, like Burger King's (if they still do it), not strands. Elevation Burger is not aptly named. It should be called "Meh Burger." I tried this place once and likely not again. Best analogy I can think of is a less tasty, less greasy, version of Five Guys with Milk Shakes. The hand-cut shoe string fries are limp & soggy and, bland too. I later had a conversation with someone who was excited to have a new Elevation Burger in Germantown, only to get the same response that I had about this location: Bland, not tasty, burgers. NO BACON! (I mean Bacon isn't even on the menu!) "The shoes string fries are limp and soggy." Also, their portions are smaller than most. I was full, but not stuffed like at Five Guys or Ray's Hell Burger. RHB being my all time favorite! Sorry, Elevation Burger. With over 40 locations nationwide, you're expanding into a market that has much better options. Even BGR Joint is better. Hell, I'd go to Red Robin before I go to Elevation Burger again. I was pretty excited to come to Elevation Burger, but it didn't really meet my expectations. I ordered an Elevation Burger with tomatoes, lettuce, caramelized onions, ketchup, Elevation sauce, and pickles. (Would've gotten mayo but... there was a lot of sauce alraedy. ^^;;) I also split an order of fries with my boyfriend. While waiting for our food, I got a feel of the vibe of the restaurant. A big focus on their organic food, kind of "hippy dippy" for some people, I would imagine. It was nice and open and bright, with lots of daylight and view of the arts district coming in. As far as the food itself, I wasn't really blown away. My burger tasted okay, although it was super duper messy to eat, and I just... didn't really feel anything about it. I hate to have to say this, but I felt like I got a Five Guys experience for a kind of hefty price, and the beef, which I thought would taste better than most burger chains', was at about the same level but a bit drier. I was pretty disappointed that this burger not only didn't blow me away but fell short of what my burger craving drove me to Elevation Burger for. The fries also weren't that great. No seasoning on the fries, which is fine, but I guess I thought the olive oil would lend some flavor to them? Not really. Just potato in my mouth that I needed ketchup for. NEEDED. And after all that, I walked out of Elevation Burger feeling kind of iffy, much like I would after having any kind of greasy food. That is to be expected, although I guess Yelp reviews led me to believe this wouldn't be the case. I didn't dislike Elevation Burger really, but I was expecting something above and beyond or, at the very least, different from my typical burger joint experience. Disclaimer: I don't think that Five Guys is that great (In-N-Out is the way to go for me!!) so if you like Five Guys, you might like this more than I do. I stopped for a late lunch with a friend after going to A Tangled Skein a few blocks away. He said that it was kind of like a pricier Five Guys (so there) but I was hungry enough to go for it. I got the Elevation Burger with the original toppings and added cheese and onions. The patty was pretty tasteless and dry. They did bring it personally to me, which is a nice touch although more probably because there weren't that many people there. Also, they say that their fries are made with olive oil, which is great! But they're unpleasant to eat- more limp than crispy, and need salt. They also have soda made with cane sugar (Wild Bill, I think?) Note that the root beer is featured at the Fountain Soda so it'll be cheaper to get that instead of the glass bottle. Both my friend and I were not impressed with it, though. 4 years ago, I tried this place and thought the burgers were downright awful. Who is buying them, I said to myself? I had to return recently to meet an old friend who selected it as a rendezvous spot--was not looking forward to it. I must say that I was surprisingly impressed with the quality of the food. The beef patty meat is flavorful now, and execution of how the burger comes together is more carefully done; the place is well run and cleaner; the pricing is moderate for a mostly organic food menu. I called in an order here for two burgers and fries. They told me 10 minutes and it would be ready; I came about 10 minutes later. The order was ready but after I paid and pulled out a few fries, I said to my wife, "the fries are cold and soggy." The clerk just looked at me and said, "that's because you waited too long to get here" (paraphrasing--something to that effect). For a low cost, high margin item like fries, you'd think they'd just give us another order. But they didn't. So kind of meh on the fries. The service was excellent but my burger didn't taste that fresh.... can't quite pinpoint what it was but something was just off. Like others say, the fries could be thicker & crispier & they are a little too greasy for my taste. Although they were tasty, they could do much better. That said, I'm gonna keep trekking to the Potomac & Wheaton locations cuz this one didn't wow me. Good flavor, organic meat, and reasonably priced. Elevation Burger is doing what Chipotle did for burritos-- raise the expectation and baseline for a fast-casual cuisine. Flavorful meat and lots of available toppings. Milkshake was creamy and smooth, very tasty. The only real negative is the bread on the bun is kind of throw-away. I hoped for something more artiisanal, rather than fast-food style buns. This location has outdoor seating, and a mix of metered street parking, curb parking, and a parking lot (shared with the rest of the Arts District establishments). Off-hours parking is easy, peak-time gets crowded. Savings tip: Cheese is charged by the slice, w/ 2 slices per non-kid burger. Ask for less cheese or skip it entirely to make your burger cheaper.
