I did come during the lunch rush and waited about 47 minutes, which is the only real downside. That said, the woman at the register was super communicative, apologized for the wait, and didn't dodge it or make excuses. I really appreciated that level of honesty and customer service. Now for the food... my cheesesteak was . They actually gave me an 18-inch even though I ordered a 12-inch because of the wait, and that thing was massive. More importantly, it was top tier. Easily one of the best cheesesteaks I've had, and that's saying a lot since I've hit plenty of great spots in Philly and Baltimore. I tried to order online, but realized there was no way to customize my sandwich, so I decided to go in person. When I got to the front I realized you still have to order on a kiosk, with no way to customize. I asked someone and she said she'd let the kitchen staff know my request for no mushrooms. Customer service was good and there's plenty of space to sit and eat there. The sandwich fell flat for me. The chicken cheesesteak i got comes with "your choice of cheese" but the kiosk doesn't allow you to actually choose a cheese, so it came with none. The fries were hot and crispy. This low score is strictly due to the lack of customer service. The food would receive a 3.5. Once we entered, the larger black lady said "pick up or take out?" No hello, no greeting, literally that's what she's screaming from behind the counter as soon as I opened the door. Once we got to the counter, she repeated herself, "pick up or take out?". Once I said take out, Ms. PhoneInHerHand, young light skin girl, approached the register, said nothing! Mind you, this is our FIRST time here. My guest asked what other specials they had and Ms. PhoneInHerHand said "we have BOGO, you know what that is?". I ordered online and grabbed two NFL Specials. Since the online ordering does not let you customize the sandwich, I assumed everything listed in the description would be included. I will say this. The food was ready much faster than the quoted time on the website. I know estimates usually factor in rushes and other variables, so that was a pleasant surprise. When I arrived, the space immediately stood out. It was very clean, had plenty of seating, and the staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming. No complaints there at all. Once I got home and opened the cheesesteaks, that is where things fell a little short of the hype. Both sandwiches only had steak, cheese, onions, and a small amount of mayo. Unfortunately, the additional toppings listed in the description were missing. That was disappointing, especially since there was no option to edit or confirm toppings when ordering online. Heard about Chunky and Bop's, so I decided to give them a try. You can order online or when you arrive. The food is made to order. It was clean, spacious, and a very welcoming atmosphere from the woman taking the orders to the cooks as well as the owner who wanted to deliver well wishes to his patrons. I ordered the chicken cheese steak with fried onions and provolone cheese. It had a nice texture, and the cheese was blended evenly throughout the sandwich. As a born and raised Philadelphian, I do not like my sweet/hot peppers and pickles on the side. I want them sautéed and chopped with my chicken and then added to my roll. Otherwise, I feel like I have to build my sandwich before I eat it, and that takes away from my enjoyment of the sandwich. I give Chunky and Bop's 3/5. The sandwich is definitely good. This place definitely needs improvement from the food to the logistics. I've tried this place out 3 times. Each time I had a vastly different experience. The chicken cheesesteaks are not consistent. The last one was terrible. The bread was totally soggy. It was as if they dipped it in some type of au jus. The green peppers I added seemed to be pickled, so it gave a weird taste. Lastly they didn't put cheese on it. I chose provolone, but it was cheese-less. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I got home and sat down to eat that I noticed all of the issues. This was my first time ordering from Chunky and Bops. Unfortunately the day that I went to their Riverdale location it had closed and moved to its new location now in Landover. I ordered the steak sub with green peppers, onions with provolone cheese. I'm not a big cheese fan so my next sub will be with out cheese. The meat was tender and flavor filled. The bun was perfect, firm and not soggy from the sub innards. Service was great. I was greeted upon enteering and the young woman who took my order was very pleasant and took the time to explain the menu. The interior of the place is blah. There was a couple who was eating the when I ordered my food but most people ordered to go. This place is in an old shopping plaza so parking is plentiful. Food was good, even thought it wasn't cold. I tried w chicken cheese steak ( chicken steak & cheese) the flavor was crazy, bread soft, meat flavorful , but not hot, neither were the fries. Fries are thick crinkle cut style with some seasoning. I ordered my food at 1:16pm it said 30-35 min, pick up was for 1:46pm. I received a text at 1:25 saying my food was ready. I still had 20 min until I got to there. $27 was my total and for that price I expect better time estimations, it was barely warm. If my fries were cold I'd an asked for new fries, but they were edible. Next time I'll just place an order inside and hopefully it don't take 30-35 min like online said. The only reason why I don't want to give this place 5-stars is because of the wait, along with the inside appearance doesn't really give me (or clearly anyone else), "let's dine in!" feelings. My friend and I ordered online, drove about 20 minutes to this location and waited in the parking lot for about 20 minutes before we entered the establishment. So when I heard they moved to their own building that was closer to my house I was excited and decided to drop by. The inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated and the customer service was excellent. Now let's get to the sandwich. I got the 18in cheesesteak with fries which can to about 30.00 with tip included. The fries were normal fries nothing to scream about. The sandwich was decent I was upset at the fact that I asked for Grilled onions and peppers and neither looked like they touched a grill. If I knew I was going to get raw onions instead of grilled onions I would've never asked for them. When they asked what you want on your sandwich I thought that it would be on the sandwich not me having to put my own condiments on it. It's nothing like a Philly cheesesteak but it not bad either. Came here for a quick bite on a nice Friday afternoon and ordered from Chunky and Bop's. I ordered the cheesesteak with the mushrooms and peppers with sweet potato fries. The first bite was initially good and then I eventually had an aftertaste, I managed and ate it all so it wasn't that bad after all lol. I honestly don't know where to begin, because I'm still in awe of the terrible customer service. I understand there's a wait for everything, however, waiting 2 hours for a sandwich is not acceptable. My first clue should have been finding the place, it's a ghost kitchen located inside a mini food court. Upon entering you're confused because you're looking for a sign where you can place an order. Well you can only place orders online or through a kiosk once the hostess informs you how to order. They have a sign saying during peak hours the wait time is "1 hour. I placed an order at 2:47pm and didn't receive it until 4:50pm. I was DONE and again this is unacceptable! Another issue I have is they bring your food when there are multiple orders done and bring them at one time. I'm sorry, again, unacceptable. They should bring customers orders when they finish wrapping them, versus having people wait until they bring 7-10 orders at one time. I got home opened my order only to discover my food was lukewarm. I will never visit this place again. Until they realize people's time is valuable and folks don't want to sit 2+ hours waiting for food I can't see them being the talk of social media for long. So beware if you have 1-2 hours to wait on a sandwich and that goes for placing an order online, by all means give them a try, it's not the best cheesesteak but it was okay...not a 2 hour wait okay but I wasn't impressed. I drove 45 minutes to give this place a try and while I would love to give a review, I cannot because my order was wrong. I guess that's my fault for not checking my order but I placed my order online and it clearly said plain chicken steak with no cheese and the sandwich was absolutely drenched in cheese. I had high hopes for this reopened new location, especially because the location is closer to my home and based on my first/last experience (week 1 in Riverdale- Ghost Kitchen). Unfortunately, Chunky and Bops disappointed me, so much I can not consider recommending them as I did prior to this visit. Maybe they just need to workout some kinks or maybe my taste buds and expectations have changed. Where do I begin..... First, they had a steady flow of customer in the 12:30 - 1:30 hour, so much that I rushed in to stand in line for 15 minutes only to get my sandwich 45-55 minutes later. Secondly, after chatting with another customer finding out you definetly need to check your food before you walk out. I was missing napkins, ketchup, given only 1 tiny cup of sweet peppers and pickles for a 12 inch sub (not acceptable). Plus, the sandwich was not cut, which meant I had to pull it apart in three inorder to eat it. Thirdly, the flavor nor presentation was what I remembered from early Riverdale- Ghost Kitchen limited space and cooks days. I pulled the meat out of the bread to taste because it was gaving the looked of "ground meat and not chopped"ribeye. The flavor I remembered from my first visit was missing. Maybe seeing all the meat piled up on the grill top should of been a clue that the meat was going to be overcooked. The flyer card photo showed provolone cheese stacked on top, not chopped in with the meat. The onions appeared far from fully cooked as they were also tossed in with the meat. Yes, the sandwich was full of meat, but the bread was too soft for the weight of the sandwich. Fourthly, The staff was friendly and the owner did come out and try to explain the wait to those waiting to order or pickup, but with more cook space and help the wait should of been cut in half in my opinion. IJS I am not "THROWING IN THE TOWEL YET"!! I will give them one more try, but after football season ends (a madhouse anticipated) with the hopes the kinks and things I noted have changed, bringing back the flavor and goodness I recalled from my first time. Decided to see what all the hype was about and I'm not too impressed. I got the 9" Chicken Royal ( chicken, provolone, peppers, mushrooms and fried onions) with a side of fries and their special brand of soda. The fries were well seasoned and hot and honestly the best part. The sandwich was good at first but then left a strange aftertaste. It wasn't tasteless just didn't have that "cheesesteak" taste if that makes sense. And it was definitely pricey for 2 sandwiches and an order of fries and onion rings coming to $70. Today, January 18, I decided to give Chunky and Bop's a second experience. I arrived a little after 11AM, lunchtime, right. At 11:35AM, I went to the window to ask the time to open on a Saturday, and was told by one of the workers they would open and start taking orders at 12PM. So, I waited . . . it's now 12:30PM, and still I cannot place an order because one of the workers, the worker that told me 12PM LEFT. A gentleman, NOT the owner came and scooped him up and the worker has NOT returned and the other worker that was left alone isn't taking orders either -- online or not, so much for my second experience. My husband and I went here on Wednesday and picked up a cheesesteak with everything. I am used to having lettuce and tomatoes on mine so this was a first without it. The place was nice and clean and the service was really nice. This is in our neighborhood. I thoroughly enjoyed my sub. I asked for hot relish instead they had hot peppers.
