I've had the food truck from El Torito a few times, and the food is always delicious. This past Friday at 6:30pm, I went for a friend's birthday. The parking lot was extremely packed, I ended up parking closer to the Safeway. Our table was ready immediately, although I do believe we had a reservation. We had a group of 10, and were in a room with other large parties as well. The whole restaurant was pretty busy and loud. It took quite a while for our food and drinks to come out, but our group was large and the restaurant was packed as expected. The food was delicious. I had a mojito and the carnitas tacos trio. The mojito was mostly ice unfortunately, and we didn't get waters, but the carnitas tacos were delicious. The carnitas were fatty and not dry, the rice was also seasoned, the west corn cakes were also delicious. Overall, I think a smaller group would have had much faster service but I enjoyed the food. read more

When I called to let them know that I needed to increase the number of attendees, Betsy was super nice and helpful! When we arrived, we were seated right away in a perfect and coz area. I took my parents out for dinner on a Sunday night. Understandably there was a wait time for about 20 minutes however they were able to seat us within 5 minutes. The waitress was able to take our order promptly after we were seated. I was appreciative of the attentive service regardless of how busy it was. It was a family, friendly environment. We ordered a fajita and the queso dip. They offered complementary chips, which was nice! The fajitas were absolutely delicious and the server let the plate on fire, which was a fun display! My friend and I came here for dinner on a Friday evening. It was pretty busy, but we were seated upon arrival as the restaurant is decently sized. Food: My friend and I ordered the cheese quesadilla to share at the start. The quesadilla was pretty standard and good. I also ordered spinach enchiladas. They were good. I absolutely love the corn cake they serve their entrees with. My friend ordered chicken nachos and they were huge. Service: Service was ultimately okay. Our server wasn't around too much. Ended up at El Torito with our party of 9 on a Friday night after the wait at another restaurant was too long. El Torito was also packed but had seats for us in the bar area. The table was a wavy table so not ideal for our party but we made do. Haven't been to an El Torito for at least 20 years, and I was pleasantly surprised that we enjoyed ourselves. The food and drinks were delicious and the crowd near the bar was good. There was a Warriors game on, so we got to watch the game while enjoying our dinner, which is always a plus. Great service and food! It's obviously always busy. We sat down and the area smelled bad; the waiter was nice enough to let us move. Absolutely fantastic chain of Californian Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere, food and service are always on point, no matter the location. The chips and salsa are delightfully vibrant flavors, with fresh, perfectly crispy chips. The spicy salsa is my favorite to put on my rice and beans. Our group tried several combos, the carne asada burrito, and chicken street tacos. Two of us enjoyed house margaritas, I love the pebbly ice they use! I love their rewards program. They always are sending me stuff which allows me to come in and try more variety of their menu. When it comes to their meals I will say they give me more filler sides than the actual main "real stuff" like the meat and good quality things you'd want to enjoy. I see more rice, beans, and tortillas than anything. I do like however that with all orders they give you chips and salsa included. Their things are well flavored, but can often times be too salty and dry for my liking. I got the Birria tacos this time and when I got to eating it, the bottom portion was soggy and I had to eat it with a fork & knife instead. Here we go again....I've been there twice since my last review, the food was as expected but tonight...tonight was something special. Our server was awesome. The drinks came out fast and the food WAS good at the start...2 bites in and my wife got a small metal wire in her food. It was a little less than an inch and wavy, metal, like a bristle from a grill brush in the carnitas. We let the manager know. We didn't want or ask for anything in return, that's not us, not Karen's, not looking for a free meal or discounts but they should know there's metal wires in the food. They ended up giving us a discount and a free dessert to go, but thinking about it later, if my 2 young children (3 and 7) who were with us were the ones who ate that it might have gone differently. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for your food or drinks. I felt like the staff were being a little stand offish to my group and favoring other tables. I like the way the restaurant is family owned and you feel like you're in Mexico. They have nice art on the wall. I like their drinks, they usually are strong but they didn't make them strong that day when I had pretty passive service, I think that day may have just been a miss for them. The staff are always a hit and miss here. The food is all right and you're paying pretty high for the small portions you're getting. There was some confusion with the X rewards program they use and redeeming it. There was nothing on there that specially that said dine in only , so I assumed take out was an option. However, when I came in there was different responses from different people helping me. I hope that rewards given to members will be honored either way unless specifically stated one way or another so there's no confusion on both ends. If you dine in, there's an option of the chips and salsa which are made fresh. I went with the Carne Asada and shrimp entrée, which came with corn tortillas. The to go order came out in about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad. I've never seen this place super crowded although they have a lot of seating indoor outside for big parties. I even think they have a buffet option on special days. I do feel like it's about the quantity over quality here in the several times that I've visited this place. read more

Fun spot that is themed like a casita, with numerous rooms for dining. First I'd say the service was absolutely excellent. The servers were all very friendly and upbeat which I always appreciate. Free chips and salsa. They have wine and beer, and margaritas, etc although the draft beer wasn't working when we went. Husband had the shrimp and chicken fajitas, which were very flavorful, but the chicken was extremely dry. I enjoyed my shrimp tacos, which could've used more ingredients as I like my tacos to be overflowing, but the shrimp tasted good.
