Cinnamon pancakes
Rose C.

We wanted to go somewhere for brunch after Palm Sunday service. Even though we hadn't eaten at El Torito for a long time, it was close. The restaurant was bustling when we got there. No parking near the restaurant, but lots in the shopping center. It took a while before the hostess showed up and the server missed us being seated. Once I told her and asked for water, she was very attentive the rest of our meal. Our mimosa glasses were constantly filled. She brought us a plate of cinnamon pancakes. The brunch buffet was an incredible array of food. We visited one table and had a couple desserts. We tried as much dishes as we could pile onto our plates. Too much food for us to eat in one visit. We will have to go back to try the other buffet options.

Ugh I would have given El Torito five stars because the ambiance, food and server were outstanding. The low score is due to what was observed at the bar. Bartender mixing drink for an employee in a paper cup. He hands paper cup to employee, she takes a sip and hands it back to tender. Tender adds more alcohol, takes a straw for a taste, then he proceeds to pour contents of paper cup into shaker, (remember employee took a prior sip) then pours in paper cup. Employee takes a sip, gives thumbs up and goes out the side back door. It's my opinion that it's not good practice to have anyone taste test from a paper cup or any cup then return to bartender to add more alcohol and use shaker after a taste test. Disgusting! I don't know what protocol is but drinking adult beverages on one's break is questionable. And yes, she was observed drinking, eating and then coming back for her duties. It's Happy Hour.

I love coming here for happy hour!! Great appetizer and drink deals. The sangria was a standout - definitely go for happy hour, but make sure to sit in the bar area to order off the happy hour menu! Great vibes, fantastic staff and service, nice ambiance, and good parking options!

We came here Saturday morning and had an amazing experience. The service was excellent, and our server Sandy was really nice, friendly, helpful, and had so much patience with us. She truly made the whole experience even better. This is a Mexican restaurant with a brunch buffet, and it honestly surprised me because I thought the brunch was Sundays only. I originally came just wanting pancakes, but the buffet completely exceeded my expectations. They had birria, rice, refried beans, tortillas, enchiladas, Sweet Corn Tomalito, bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes, an omelette bar, and so much more. They even had conchas, and everything tasted fresh. For drinks, they had fresh orange juice, apple juice, jicama, along with self serve hot chocolate, coffee, and water. They also had a chocolate fondue fountain with fruit, and this wasn't even Sunday brunch. The inside was very nice and welcoming. Overall, everything was great, especially the service. Sandy was amazing. If you haven't tried it yet, definitely give it a try. We'll absolutely be back.

I always have a great experience whenever I patron this location. Stop in and see for yourself! This review is more in reference to the bar experience. I'm one of those that prefers to socialize, so often times as of late, I choose to sit at the bar with no issues whatsoever. Every bartender here is great, but Juan, in particular is exceptional. From his many years of expertise in crafting the perfect libatIon, whether it's on the menu or not, to his magnetic personality and smile, if ever you're having a bad day, come see Juan and he will fix it right up for you! He's great at reading the room and catering each patron's experience accordingly. He loves what he does, and it's clearly evident with every interaction he engages in with everyone. In addition, Juan's energy is always positive and not only is that rare, but very much welcomed especially on a consistent basis. Happy hour is every day from 3 to 9, however, I believe Juan works earlier in the day for the most part. Sit at the bar and he will make you feel right at home. And let him know that Jeanie sent you.

Sergio is a awesome waiter He deserves 5 stars by himself, super friendly, great service making sure that you got everything you need plus the macho combo looked better and bigger in person than the actual picture. Usually, it's actually the other way around. The margaritas, and great house beer, IPA I haven't been there for quite some time, but I moved there nearby now so I have to go there much more often now i'll definitely ask Sergio if I can

Cadillac Margaritas!! Empty cuz they were so good!!

Thank you El Torito- good food and drinks for a Sunday Happy Hour! Garcias to ANNA for her fun and friendly service. She recommended the Cadillac Margarita so we ordered 2 which paired perfectly with their chips and salsa. That shot of Grand Marnier hits the spot - ANNA knows what she's talking about. Ask her for a recommendation!!

Mimosas for Sunday Brunch Buffet

Birthday brunch, illemda is an amazing server, i turned 31 and they sang me happy birthday and brought me bottomless mimosas, i come here all the time, the menudo here for brunch is great and their happy hour is a deal to steal. If youre in the bay area it is insane to not take advantage of it for the rewards program. Every time we come here the bartenders are nice and attentive. I. Dont normally sit outside but it was warm because of the heaters and the servers were amazing

Drinks for lunch!

We had a great lunch at El Torito in Milpitas today. Our server, Jaquelin, was fantastic. She was energetic, happy, and incredibly attentive throughout the whole meal. She checked in on us several times, made sure everything was right, and you could tell she genuinely cared that we had a good experience. The atmosphere really added to the experience. The restaurant has that classic, authentic Mexican restaurant feel. Warm, lively, and full of character. It felt welcoming the moment we walked in, and it made the lunch feel a little more special than your average casual stop. Great service like that really makes a difference. Jaquelin made the whole lunch feel welcoming and easy. Definitely coming back.

Taco Salad is soooooo huuuge!

Came here recently to meet up with a co-worker. El Torito has always been a popular place amongst coworkers for businesses in the area. Apparently, their lunch time Buffet is a popular option. However, on this most recent visit, we ordered from the menu. Everything comes as very large portions, so be prepared to take home enough for maybe another meal or plan to share with someone. Service is good. Food is good with nice presentation, but nothing spectacular. I would have preferred the carne asada burrito to be a bit less spicy for it to be more palatable. I definitely prefer the more authentic hole-in-the-wall local taquerias.

SPINACH ENCHILADAS
Bijal J.

So it was an impromptu dinner take out night. I am a vegetarian so when I went there they suggested spinach enchiladas which was amazing. My husband had a client meet that afternoon so he just went for some nachos and dip. Overall food was hot and fresh. Everything was packed so well that it was easy to eat even in car lol. Even on a Thu night the place was buzzing. So many people at the bar and the restaurant was also almost half full. I have been here before and find it very convenient and comforting. Vibes are just perfect for a date night. Also food is so delish and fresh. Also servers are quick and efficient and knowledgeable. I had a fun time having food from here.

So they decided why not Mil's? L O C A T I O N Mil's Diner is located off of Calaveras Blvd and Abbott Ave. It's in a plaza close to Goodwill. The parking situation here can be very difficult during the busy times of eating. I N S I D E It's a diner! Yes it feels like an old school diner with a bar area and booths to sit in. They do have a restroom if you need it. M E N U It's a fairly extensive menu with all your good ol' diner food from breakfast fare to lunch. That day I decided I'd get the 50/50 (2 bacon & 2 sausage) with over easy eggs, hashbrowns and sourdough bread. Pricing feels a little bit on the high side, but to be honest it's been so long since I've been to a diner that this might be normal. How was it? It was good! The hashbrowns a tad bit oily, but I was expecting that. Eggs good, bacon crispy, sausage bouncy. S E R V I C E It was warm, friendly and lovely. The wait though was uff. So if you can send out someone early to scout the line or I'm unsure if they can put your name down as you drive over. But the wait times can get really long. I think we waited about an hour or maybe 40-ish min? But this was a Sunday at lunch time and we had 4 people. We actually paid by cash which was easier for all of us and we didn't need change back. Amazing when we all have cash handy. O V E R A L L I think it's a pretty solid diner with good food with friendly service. I'm sure we'll come back again as we enjoyed our time there and catching up. Seen it a few times before too, with her gross ass make up. If you're so concerned about the ketchup bottles why don't you do your own damn job and make sure they're full, you lazy cow. It started with the barbacoa chilaquiles. When I saw that that the chilaquiles in the menu had habaneros on it, I knew I had found my place. I often cook at home with ghost and scorpion peppers, which are not traditionally found in restaurants, but they've done some pretty amazing improvisation when I've asked to make it work. One time, I recall getting the chilaquiles and asking for extra habaneros and asking if their chef had a secret hot sauce that was stronger than "white people spicy." Miriam brought me a little ramekin of a pepper sauce puree that the chef prepared - and it was EPIC. I don't ask for that every time, but you know whoever was on the line took the request seriously and actually had some fun making my mouth burn. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of their willingness to "play" in the kitchen. Today, I went for breakfast and ordered the Carne En Su Jugo for my first time. Not just here - first time ever eating it anywhere. I had totally forgotten to ask them to make it spicy! I asked Miriam if there was anything they could do to spice it up. She assured me they could. Then I received it. And I tasted it. And it was cathartic. The chefs prepared a PERFECTLY spicy stew, and I downed that whole thing in 7 minutes. It was delicious, put some sweat on my brow, and left me feeling more than satisfied with my meal. I love this place! Miriam is always great every time I've been there. I will continue supporting this business as long as they keep doing business. Please give me compliments to the chefs again. Their creativity keeps me coming back for spicy treats!

Bonus points for having fun seasonal choices. The kids menu has good options but it is kinda pricey for being the kids menu. Bonus points because they use handmade tortillas for the kids taco. They also offer unique things like a breakfast molcajete and a mini birria pambazo. We didn't try those but it sounded intriguing. Also so many drink choices if you're looking for a michelada or mimosa. Cute vibes inside & love the plates and ceramics they use. It is small though so wouldn't really accommodate a large group easily, especially if it's busy. There is parking but even though it wasn't busy it was hard to find a spot. All that said, it was a very mid experience. The meat for the kids birria and the chilaquiles was more on the dry side. Same for the rice. The Grinch milkshake was good and cute. The tamarindo mimosa was good after we asked for extra tamarindo. Initially it was very heavy on the champagne. The country potatoes were yummy. The gingerbread pancakes were also dry & didn't taste like gingerbread. Also was sad that they were out of the advertised Holiday drinks: chocolate abuelita and atole de mazapán. I ordered the hot chocolate in its place but even though it looked cute, it tasted watery. I came here specifically for the Holiday items so that's why I was so disappointed with that. Service was okay. Our server was friendly when we interacted with her but it was very limited. Pretty much when she took our order & then when I flagged her down to return my pancakes & hot chocolate. She was very understanding though about that so I appreciated that. Overall, if they made adjustments to their flavor & quality it could be really good. From this visit I would say their Mexican food is better than their American food. I'd try again in the future, just not any time soon.

The food is worth the wait. Don't sleep on the black pepper sausage danish: the croissant dough is crisp and flaky, and doesn't get soggy when baked around the sausage. It's comparable in execution to the Croissant Hot Dog served at Dominique Ansel Las Vegas (in Caesar's Palace), but at a way more accessible price point. Which isn't to say this place is cheap; like many artisanal bakeries in California, it comes with a premium price tag, but at least it's not Dominique Ansel pricy. Croissante's croissant dough baked goods (viennoiserie) is pun-intended "proof" that you get what you pay for. The dining space is limited and lively. Conversing is a little tough, but if you just need a place to sit while eating, it's just right. Extra special shout out this time to Dill who had informed me the fried chicken dishes today would be an hour and a half wait. After deciding there wasn't anything I wanted more than the Fried Chicken and Spiced Croffle (croissant dough baked in a waffle iron) and was happy to wait, they were nice enough to check in with the kitchen and see if it could be made sooner than that. I didn't expect to be accommodated, so I was happy they were able to do that. You get two chicken thighs and croffles per order. It's enough for two light eaters to share.
