Absolutely fantastic chain of Californian Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere, food and service are always on point, no matter the location. The chips and salsa are delightfully vibrant flavors, with fresh, perfectly crispy chips. The spicy salsa is my favorite to put on my rice and beans. Our group tried several combos, the carne asada burrito, and chicken street tacos. Two of us enjoyed house margaritas, I love the pebbly ice they use! Our server was helpful and prompt, answering any questions and making suggestions. I love their rewards program. They always are sending me stuff which allows me to come in and try more variety of their menu. When it comes to their meals I will say they give me more filler sides than the actual main "real stuff" like the meat and good quality things you'd want to enjoy. I see more rice, beans, and tortillas than anything. I do like however that with all orders they give you chips and salsa included. Their things are well flavored, but can often times be too salty and dry for my liking. I got the Birria tacos this time and when I got to eating it, the bottom portion was soggy and I had to eat it with a fork & knife instead. We have come here for many, many years, however in the last couple of years the service has suffered a lot, not the food, just really slow service even with seemingly many workers. This changed recently for the better, the much better! Tonight our family at there. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly, immediately greeted by our water who then quickly brought chips and salsa and took our drink order. Throughout our evening, we received excellent service. On our way out I spoke to the manager, Cesar, letting him know his management skills have made a significant difference. So go if you like us had almost given up. The staff are always a hit and miss here. The food is all right and you're paying pretty high for the small portions you're getting. There was some confusion with the X rewards program they use and redeeming it. There was nothing on there that specially that said dine in only , so I assumed take out was an option. However, when I came in there was different responses from different people helping me. I hope that rewards given to members will be honored either way unless specifically stated one way or another so there's no confusion on both ends. If you dine in, there's an option of the chips and salsa which are made fresh. I went with the Carne Asada and shrimp entrée, which came with corn tortillas. The to go order came out in about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad. I've never seen this place super crowded although they have a lot of seating indoor outside for big parties. I even think they have a buffet option on special days. I do feel like it's about the quantity over quality here in the several times that I've visited this place. read more

We had our Taco Tuesday here and surprisingly this place is a happy and cheerful restaurant. We had Tacos obviously mainly bcuz we're craving for it and it's Tuesday so the price and drinks are affordable. I had the pinacolada and it was so refreshingly good. The tacos are bit dry and not hot. The chips and salsa were great compared to the other Mexican Restaurants we've been to. Our server, Ana Mari did an outstanding job on tending to us. She's attentive and always polite to occasionally check on us. One jewel to be treasured to have especially when there's a crowd to watch on. Ended up at El Torito with our party of 9 on a Friday night after the wait at another restaurant was too long. El Torito was also packed but had seats for us in the bar area. The table was a wavy table so not ideal for our party but we made do. Haven't been to an El Torito for at least 20 years, and I was pleasantly surprised that we enjoyed ourselves. The food and drinks were delicious and the crowd near the bar was good. There was a Warriors game on, so we got to watch the game while enjoying our dinner, which is always a plus. The wait staff was good. She was friendly and accomodating. I always appreciate a patient wait staff with larger parties. Been seeing this place all over instagram and decided to go yesterday with one of my best friend. As we arrived we knew there was going to be a wait. After we put our name down the host told us we could grab some refreshments that was inside. We only waited for less than 30 mins before we got seated. It was a packed house so be advised you will have to wait a while for your server to approach you to get your drinks be PATIENT! Our server was very nice and grabbed us our drinks and we grabbed our foods. Everything was beyond delicious! I was impressed with it all. The only thing that was a bit downfall was the pozole it was lacking flavor/spices but overall it was alright. $35.99 per person is not bad at all!
