Another 5 star lunch! Gosh I love this place. As always, immediate and friendly greeting at a well maintained and clean bar. I orders the jalapeño cucumber margarita--yum yum and YUM!!! I had to indulge on that margarita for a sec, then on to the table side FRESH guacamole. Wow wow and WOW! I literally could have just gone with a liquid lunch as that margarita was FIRE! I visited El Torito again and did not have a good experience. We came for the taco bar which we were told was $15.99 when we walked in. Later we were charged $19.50 per person. No one was working the bar, and when an employee did come over they did not warm our tortillas and gave very minimal meat. Meats are sitting out for a while so are dry and chewy. Additional I was charged $8 for a fountain drink which is ridiculous. Low quality and prices don't match. Do not go here. read more

Came here with a large group for a birthday dinner. It does get crowded on the weekend so I recommend getting a reservation if you have a large party. I got the macho combo, which comes with 4 different items, rice and beans. Nothing was super standout on the dish, and I thought that the crispy taco tasted like they fried it in really old oil that they need to switch out. The best thing is the sweet corn cake every entree comes with. Service was good, but a little slow since they were slammed. I think value here is pretty good considering a gigantic combo plate was only $21. I came here because of the nostalgia of a "tex mex" style restaurant like this. What I liked: - We were seated promptly on a Saturday afternoon -Certain dishes were "on sale" like the chicken fajitas -Lunch for 6 people + 1 child was about $100 pre-tip, which in this economy is unheard of. -Large clean restaurant -Ample parking spaces available -They brought out complimentary ice cream and sang happy birthday to my brother. What I wasn't a fan of: -Server had to be reminded multiple times that we were a party of 7, not 5. It was almost comical. She brought out 5 plates, later 5 waters, and after had to be reminded that we needed 7 sets of silverware. -She didn't bother to ask us preferences I.e. corn vs flour tortillas, whole vs refried beans (and just brought over which ever). -Food is Tex-Mex, but still tasted good. While I'm quite familiar with Chinese and sushi buffets, I was intrigued by a Mexican brunch buffet and have been wanting to scratch this off my bucket list for quite some time. My girlfriend and I got there around 10:30 and the place was already packed. Luckily we were seated right away and jumped right into our first plate. What amazed me was the variety of dishes that the buffet offered; the hot station included staples like rice, beans, and different braised meats like mole and birria. There were multiple individual stations ranging from a cold ceviche to a taco station that stood out to my girlfriend and I. We tried almost everything except the omelet station due to the long lines. Our favorites were surprisingly the refried beans, mole, and the carnitas chile verde. I loved the spice n richness of the mole, but my girlfriend wasn't a fan of it. The chile verde pork melted in my mouth, with the chile verde sauce being flavorful. Unfortunately everything else at the buffet was somewhat underwhelming, and very "buffet" quality. The birria lacked seasoning, the meats from the taco stand had been sitting out so there were somewhat dry, and other dishes including dessert were also average. While it was an amazing experience, I personally would not come back since there are so many good Mexican restaurants in the Bay. But if you are looking for decent brunch and are out to get your money's worth, I'd say El Torito is a great place to start your Sundays. read more

Our server Angel was very attentive and took care of our group and multiple other tables and was very friendly and engaging. The food here is delicious AND the drink. Recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp and birria tacos. Their corn cake is so dang good, I wish they sold this by the bowl ): Guacamole is made fresh in front of the table and the portions are filling. I've been coming to El Toritos for years now. This place is awesome and I love the bartenders, John and Gio are fantastic young men that make sure we are good when they're behind the bar. I was born on Mother's Day. We went for a meal for my birthday. We arrived at the restaurant at 1:45 and th Mother's Day buffet went until 2 pm according to the LARGE banner outside the restaurant. We ordered drinks and asked if we could order off the regular menu, the survey told us that not until 2 pm, then were we got our drinks, I tried to order chips and salsa and I was told they weren't ready and I couldn't order off the menu until 2:30 pm. We eventually ordered door dash from the restaurant. The app said it was "likely ready" at 2:52 pm. It was not ready. We left the restaurant at 3:10 pm without being able to order food at our table (not even chips and salsa) and our door dash order was also not ready for us. They did not tell us we could only have the Buffett when we sat us. The hostess was the General Manager the Manager was the host and the server was a liar. Happy Mother's Day Birthday to me!!! Congratulations on giving me the worst Birthday dining experience in 46 years!!!
