Been hitting up this joint since grade school when they were just a truck. It was definitely better back then, the meat was so moist and juicy. I suggest getting the beef fajita tacos, most of my friends enjoy it. Don't get beef tacos in the AM though, the meat has not fully marinated and lacks flavor from my experience. read more

Waited 30+ minutes for bad take out food. Waste of time, money and food.

The tacos are fantastic, but the service is some of the worst I've ever had and I've had some pretty bad service before. I tried to call ahead and place my order for pick up since orders generally take some time. A man answered and asked me to hold. He must have put the phone down on the counter because I heard him talking with people, laughing and occasionally calling out orders. After about five minutes, I decided to drive over, but I stayed on the line in case someone picked up. Ten minutes later as I pulled into the lot, someone hung up the phone. I went inside and mentioned to the girl at the counter what had happened and she just shrugged her shoulders. I placed my order and then waited for it to be ready. It took about ten minutes and when my number was called I saw the man (probably the same one who put me on hold) put my order in a bag and handed it to me. It wasn't until I got home that I realized they had shorted me two tacos I had ordered and paid for. I tried to call to tell them what happened and have the situation remedied, but 15 times it went to a voicemail unable to accept messages. So now I sit here upset, ripped off and still hungry unable to get any sort of resolution. Like I said the tacos are great, but Austin is full of great taco places which offer superior service and are capable of getting orders correct. Don't go here! read more

We were so disappointed with this place. The tacos were tiny, way overpriced for what you get, and had hardly any filling in them at all. One of the most disappointing breakfast taco experiences ever. To make it worse, we paid for bacon to be added in six tacos and there wasn't a speck of bacon to be found. We discovered this after we drove off and were too far out to go back. read more

Always great food... the tables and floor can be more clean. You just need a dedicated server for picking up dirties that's all. But still love the place... read more

They are cheap, good, and open late! Compared to many other taco places, this is one of my top favorites in Austin. The food is defiantly more authentic in their dishes than just your regular Tex Mex. They are open until 3 am, so be prepared to get the late night crowd and drunks at that time in there. It can get really crowded and you will be waiting a little bit of time before getting your food but its worth the late night snack at 3am. read more

Went back when I had sufficient time. Excellent tacos all around, still incredibly poor service, but nothing compared to last time. They were busy so they got my food out slowly, but it was worth it. +1 star for the excellent tacos al pastor! read more

Really, really good. Great price on large margaritas. Delish salsa bar outdoor seating. I had the jalapeño relleno taco and it was very good. My friend had the mini taco special and it was also very tasty. read more

My sister brought me here knowing that I was missing taquitos from Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley. The place is on East Riverside across from Baby A's. The parking is in the back and as I walked in I was reminded of my mom's house, with the yellow vibrant walls. The times I have gone there were not too many people, so there was not enough space inside. It was nice day to sit outside. I do warn you, if you decide to sit outside keep in mind that there are bees roaming around the trash cans. I'm allergic to bees so you saw me running inside finding a table for us. They just sell tacos along with queso flamenco in variations, some examples mushroom or chorizo. The prices are very reasonable. If you're a native of the RGV area when you go to taquerias you get a papa along with your taquitos, well I notice that Austin and the surrounding areas do not sell papas, which is a big disappointment for me. All in all, I definitely recommend this place. read more

This is my go-to restaurant in Austin for late night Mexican food. Their food is delicious but the 3-stars is due to their consistency. I usually order take out and discover that the special notes, comments, instructions go unnoticed which results an inaccurate food order. I have also placed orders via Yelp during late night (12am) and even though Google, El Taquito's website and Yelp list their business hours (3am)- occasionally they will be closed a few hours early so my order does not get honored. It would be very nice if the could have parity throughout all their listings online for their business hours and also read the special instructions/notes/comments in their online orders. Their salsa bar is to die for and service is great! Still love this place and will continue to eat there and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area or looking for late night food! read more

El Taquito is no nonsense and no frills, but it serves great tacos. Great food and very well priced, just don't expect much in terms of atmosphere. read more

Amazing tacos. They just give you the meat on the tortilla (corn or flour) and then you dress accordingly. Simple and delicious.

Excellent representation of the broad Mexican portfolio of food items. Had the chicken suizas and loved hem. They also have margs

The meats are really well prepared. The beans and rice are average. The salsa bar is a nice feature. Cool place to have a good quick, reasonably priced bite. read more

On 02/24/2015 I visited this place because my husband was sick and was wanting some Menudo. I DID NOT buy the menudo because as I was in line waiting to be helped, I was observing the cook as she was filling orders. She was touching all the food with her bare hands then wiping them on a dirty rag over and over again. so was using a food lid to scoop the meat that was on the grill to move to it's pan. I don't know about you all but common sense tells me, she should have washed her hands after she touched the meat, after she touched what looked like cilantro and should have never used the dirty towel to clean her hands without washing them or at all. I simply walked out and went elsewhere. I will NEVER go there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

First off let me say I didn't even have a yelp account before this and created one because of the experience I had at your restaurant. Foods great and I eat there all the time!! Don't ever call an order in though. Took 8 minutes to put an order in for 2 meals and two drinks. Wrote the whole order on paper then imputed into the POS system. I repeated my order at least 5 times no exaggeration! WHATS WORST IS I give her my credit card number over the phone to pay for the order because someone was picking it and I think shit is she writing this done too? Sure enough she was writing my credit card number on a piece a paper then she was going to input into POS System and on top of that she said they do it on the time. I hope the owner doesn't know this is going on and this message will get to him so he can put a stop to that. read more

The Best!!!!!!!!! I have gone here since it was a trailer. Worth the wait. Yum.

Bomb pastor mini tacos. and insanely good nachos. I just wish they had Lengua!

Tasty tacos and nice people. 5 tacos, 3 sodas = $15. Can't beat that. Would give 5 stars but AC was broken or nonexistent. Will go back for sure. read more

best mexican food in the town, real Mexican food they have the best chicken tacos ever

Best breakfast tacos in town - at least at the Round Rock location. At the Riverside location the food is not quite as good, but still better than most. The salsas are nothing short of amazing. The Asado de Puerco taco is a must with its dried chili gravy. read more

We were visiting Austin, and find this restaurant with a lot of good reviews, we been craving real Mexican tacos in Houston, no place that I know is this real Mexican taste. We ask for the tacos al pastor, and bisteck, and for real this is the best real taste this side of the border. Maybe service is a little slow but the taste is excellent. read more

Pastor taquitos were delish!! The bistec was ok, not as good as the pastor. Will come back again when visiting Austin!

Great tacos! I have to admit that i have not tried anything else on the menu because I am in love with their beef and al pastor tacos. I've lived in Austin for 10 years now and have not come across better tacos in town. Highly recommend! read more

Very Awesome Tacos!!! And I'm a picky eater! The selection of salsa is great! Service is great!

Sorry to give such a bad review, but was not impressed. I have been hearing about all the hype and wanted to find a good place to go late at night. Our visit was around midnight. First of all, we hadn't been to this area of austin before, and found it to be a somewhat rough looking neighborhood, with bars on the windows of all of the other businesses immediately surrounding the restaurant. I guess that is to be expected in areas near downtown. We ordered the bistek? taquitos, cheese quesadilla, and the queso fundido. The lady behind the counter who took our order seemed somewhat friendly at first, but the smile dropped from her face, and I assume it was because I did not immediately tip her after paying with my credit card (when we placed our order). She was very short with us when I asked for any additional service. Along with barely speaking any English, she ended up adding an additional quesadilla to our bill that we didn't order, and when we asked for a glass of water, she forgot to get it for us. The food was really bland with not much flavor. The queso fundido had a half inch of grease floating on top of it. I poured the grease into a salsa cup until it was almost overflowing. The cheese in the quesadilla was somewhat tasty, and the tortillas were ok. Don't even ask if this place serves tortilla chips...we did, and were told, "no", and were looked at like we were crazy to even ask such a thing. The taquitos had a nice presentation, but lacked in flavor. Food is served on styrofoam plates. The area where you go to get salsa had flies buzzing around it, reminding me of fruit flies hovering over a dumpster. The salsas themselves looked like they had been setting out for quite a while, with some of the vegetables looking wilted and inedible. Other areas of the restaurant seemed pretty clean though. As we were sitting there, a group of people walked in reeking of weed and seemed like they were looking for trouble. They kept walking in and out of the place, and we were a little scared to leave when we knew that they were outside. We both walked away with sour stomachs and I literally gagged and almost puked when I walked out the door from all the grease in the food. We did however like the colors and decor on the walls, but other than that I would rather eat at Taco Bell any day. We also probably won't be going back to this part of town, at least not at night. read more

our order took 30mins for something that they already have cooked. this place used to be better, not sure whats going on but sunday 9/4 was not a good day for them. i ordered a family meal and watched it be done within 15mins..i wanted to walk up and let them know hey thats my order, but suddenly a mob of people walked in. i thought for sure they will call my number, NOPE. took them another 20mins. finally i walked up, and asked if they could check, sure enough it was mine. the girl with the ponny tail packed my order and handed me my food. I left, drove off but thought i should check my food, and sure enough, wrong order. I went back told the cashier she gave me the wrong food, she tries to say she put the food on the counter and that i just took it. she instead of apologizing tries to lie instead. Im trying to keep my cool and explained uhh no you packed everything in the bag and handed it to me. she keeps just starring at me and finally looks at my bag and says oh i gave it to the other guy...duh. she then tells the kitchen to make my order, this takes another 15 mins....yay... by the time my family ate, everything was cold and stale. the place is also VERY DIRTY. read more

omg i loved it! just tried it for the 1st time today-orden especial (bistek) w/ an agua fresca (pina). it was great, authentic, light, & ungreasy! (thank god). :) 4 star rating only because i'm from deep south texas (right by the border) & no tacos beat rey del taco. read more

worst customer service ever went here with my wife after we passed it a few times thought we give it a shot we got there and there was one table that was left but was dirty so we asked the cashier to have someone clean it, she rolled her eyes and sighed and took 10mins to get the bus boy to come out and clean. After that they had put my order in wrong and put beef instead of chicken and when i eventually noticed it on the recepit i told my wife to go up there since she talks spanish and so do the employees. They refused to refund my money and remake my order and said that it was already made we kept asking them we wanted a refund but they denied. we asked to speak to a manager and she pulled the i am the manager she was a heavy set older woman. she then said she was going to call the other manager and then said all we can do is add chicken on the side i told her again i just wanted a refund. she said no we cant do that so i was basically forced to pay for the meal i did not want. i will never come back here again terrible service read more
