This place is pretty busy and the food comes out fast so the quality isn't that great. We ordered and I went to the restroom and our food was out. Per our Airbnb host quality goes down during busy season as they are trying to get people in and out. The flauta was burnt on the ends and it was pretty dry. They said they couldn't do pork in it because it falls out and then I got the pork enchilada which was fine. The fries were terrible they were soggy and didn't taste cooked. My husband got the burrito and he said it was okay.
This place was recommended by the hotel concierge. I should say, this place is good! The service was fast. I noticed they have a lot of staff working from receptionist to waiters. The food came out real hot! The food is good. I ordered the combinaciones biria.. love it. My husband ordered the tacos, he was impressed too. The place is family-oriented!
This Mexican restaurant is a solid choice for a casual meal. The food is flavorful and satisfying, with classic dishes done well. Tacos, enchiladas, and sides hit the mark, and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service is friendly and attentive. Not the fanciest spot in town, but definitely dependable for a tasty Mexican meal.
Great spot in Page. I'd say food options are slim in this town. Service was great, food was delicious. Their michelada is solid. It's a clean convenient spot.
I never do written reviews for restaurants as in my opinion it takes too long and the chances it will be read are slim, this restaurant gave me a reason to write a review. I went here based on a recommendation and took my mom and sister thinking we were getting authentic Mexican food (we're from Virginia). Overall the service was mediocre, nothing to cry or gleam about. The quality of the food was meh, but for the price it was horrendous, especially the meal for 2 which was around 54 dollars. Tacos were greasy and just met the edible level. The reason for the one star is due to the tip issue found in the pictures. They automatically included the tip in the total price and then expected us to tip based on that, essentially meaning you could leave a tip of around 40%!!! The quality and service is maybe 3 stars, but this shady tactic to target tourist is unacceptable. Really shameful on a business aspect.
I almost wasn't going to leave a review but decided I should at least give my opinion to warn others... the reviews on yelp seemed solid enough to try this place. Everything was less than mediocre at best. Chips: very stale. Salsa: way too much cilantro (and I like cilantro). Then I order something simple, Veggie Enchiladas. It was composed completely of frozen veggie mix (string beans, lima beans, cauliflower, carrots, etc)! Think high school cafeteria quality. I had almost ordered Veggie Fajitas. I wonder if they would have just dumped this mix into a skillet! The best thing on the plate was the rice. Service was fast but... scolding hot plate (not warm) was merely dropped off at my table without mentioning this. I found this out when I tried to move it. Ouch! Really no reason for it to be this hot. I was never checked on. I don't usually care about this (I'll ask if I need something) but other waiters seemed to be attentive to other tables. I did finally ask another waiter for my check. Lastly, middle of the night wake-up call and my stomach tolerates most things.
Carne asada plate was delicious! Free chips with salsa. Lots of food for one order so shared it with the wife. There is a misleading sign next to the table that states that you will have 3% deducted from bill if paying cash. It also states that 3% will be added if paying card. However, they charged me full price with nothing deducted from the bill when I paid cash. The server was aware of this as it looks like everyone points it out to him every time. So be aware you will not be getting 3% deducted when paying cash.
(2/5) We stopped in hoping for some great Mexican comfort food, but the nachos left us a little disappointed. While there was plenty of cheese, it was way too much -- almost smothering everything else. There were barely any beans & not enough tomatoes for my personal liking, so the flavor ended up being kind of flat and one-dimensional. The salsa was just okay -- almost mild with only a tiny hint of heat. Service was a bit slow, but our waitress was friendly and the kitchen got the order right, which we appreciated. Overall, not terrible, but not a place we'd go back to for nachos. Overall, place is festive but cold use a deep cleaning.
Disappointed. This was recommended by hotel employees and trip advisor. It was not a good experience. I was met by a nice host and the wait staff was amiable. I was unable to eat in the restaurant. There was a pervasive odor that was extremely unpleasant. My booth was right next to a portable ac unit and was not too far from the restroom. Perhaps the odor emanated from one of those sources. No idea. Trust me. It was bad. I placed an order to go and got out of there as quickly as possible. Upon returning to my hotel, I discovered that no cutlery or napkins were included. I was able to get a set from the hotel bar. I ordered tacos al carbon which came with rice and beans. I also ordered chips and salsa. I do not think the chips are homemade and the salsa was unremarkable. Not spicy or particularly fresh. The rice and beans had no seasoning. Perhaps adding table salt would have helped. But as I took my food to go that was not an option. The tacos were good. The meat was well prepared and the tortillas were tender and wonderful to eat. Again, however, it was under seasoned. There was some type of sauce smeared on the top of the tacos, but the sauce had no taste. They charged $29.00 for three tacos and tasteless rice and beans. I should have left as soon as I smelled the odor. Oh well, live and learn. My rec is to eat elsewhere.
3.5: first time in Page and not a bad place for a meal, with a large selection but not cheap prices and lackluster but relatively quick service. It looks a bit like a fast food place from the outside but it's a step up from there. They give you chips and salsa complimentary. The veggie quesadilla was "ok" but I didn't care that much since I was hungry: the filling was kind of spotty and the tortillas were a little hard. The steak tortillas were also ok. Service was quick but seemed disinterested, which again wasn't that important if you're just looking for food. If I lived in this area, I don't think I would return regularly but haven't tried anything else in Page either. Close to Antelope Canyon tours.
We found this restaurant while visiting Page, AZ. We walked in and were seated right away. They didn't look too busy at that time. The menu is huge and the tables and chairs are very colorful. We were given chips and salsa right away. For entrees, I got the enchilada suiza and my husband got the seafood fajitas. They were both large portions and tasty. The food came out very quickly as well. If you happen to be in Page, I would say this is a good place to try out.
So glad we came here after a very long drive and hiking. The wet burrito and the chimichanga were so good! The portions are very big so definitely great to share!
Mixed Experience at Tapatio - Great Guac, High Prices, and Spotty Service I've visited Tapatio in Page, AZ twice recently with a party of five. Our first visit was generally enjoyable. The fresh guacamole was excellent, and my friends raved about the birria. I ordered the molcajete, but personally didn't care for the flavor profile. Still, the experience was decent overall. The real shock came with the prices. In my opinion, nearly everything on the menu is 25-50% above market value without a noticeable difference in quality. For example, a soft drink costs $4.25 and only includes one refill. One couple in our group--visiting from Europe--suggested we return for a second visit. They don't have a local price reference and aren't as concerned about cost. On our return, the food was similar. Another great $15 bowl of guacamole, and my wife and I split the fajitas for two ($41). A single margarita ran $14. However, service took a major downturn. Our fajitas arrived without tortillas. When I asked, I was told they were on their way. I asked again after a few minutes--same response. Eventually, I turned around and saw seven servers standing around a computer, including ours. My wife finally had to walk to the kitchen herself before the tortillas were brought out. In summary: If you're okay with fairly good food, indifferent service, and inflated prices, this may be the place for you. For me, it was a disappointing return visit and probably our last.
The Yelp reviews for El Tapatio were very positive and so I suggested it to my family for an early lunch on our way to Antelope Canyon. We were immediately greeted and seated at a booth upon arrival. Our server also brought us complimentary chips, salsa, and slaw to share. The restaurant is very large and can probably seat at least 100 people. The interior is colorful with traditional paintings on the walls and tables. They also have an outside seating area which visitors after us opted for. El Tapatio serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. They have a separate lunch menu which was perfect for us. The lunch menu was very extensive and included tacos, tortas, burritos, chimichangas, salads, chile verde, carne asada, Pollo asado, and some vegetarian options. I ordered the Camarones a la Diabla (approx $14) aka Shrimp of the Devil, named for the spicy red sauce the shrimp sits in. My companions ordered a taco plate (2 tacos) and ala carte fish, beef, and shrimp tacos (about $5 each). The Camarones a la Diabla was very filling and came with Mexican rice, refried beans, salad, a roasted poblano pepper, three flour tortillas, and an orange wedge; they definitely do not skip on quantity. The dish had five large prawns with the tail on and lots of sliced mushrooms. The sauce was thicker and more tomatoey and vinegary than I've had at previous restaurants. It had a nice kick to it, but was sweeter than I would've preferred (think like a spicy marinara sauce). I personally wouldn't order this dish again, but maybe this is just a different version of what I'm used to. My companions enjoyed their tacos and were surprised by how generous El Tapatio was with their meat toppings. Each taco came with radish, lettuce, fresh tomato, and a poblano pepper. The taco plate came with rice and beans. All servers were extremely friendly and called everyone who walked through their door, their amigos. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere read more

The food was good, but the chile relleno not as crispy as I've had other places. I ordered grilled onions and peppers in place of rice and beans and like that choice much better. The salsa served with chips was very good but not impressed with the slaw that came with it. Everyone was very nice and really liked the southwest decor. read more

My husband and I really Enjoyed our dinner here while visiting Page. We walked in on a Friday evening around 6pm. We were greated and seated immediately. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious. I loved that the chips weren't greasy. We ordered the Pollo Asado and Carnitas de puerco. Wow! The portions were enormous and tasty. One dinner could have easily fed 2-3 people (especially with the chips and salsa). We were surprised at how fast everything came out. It also came with fresh tortillas, probably the best corn tortillas I've ever had too. Definitely would recommend! read more

Highly highly recommended! Just great all around. Place was busy but we were seated in about a minute. Friendly and efficient service throughout. Decor and inside noise/activity is just right. Food is phenomenal. Had blue margarita and it was superb. They serve a slaw with chips and salsa and it is amazing (we got the recipe). We had a queso dip and it had just the right kick. We then had build your own. Best burrito, taco, and cheese enchilada! Especially the taco- they use brisket and not ground meat. Be advised it is sizable. And it is tasty. One of the best experiences and meals! Next time in Page, AZ this is a must-eat place! read more

We stopped here after Horseshoe bend. The place was busy but was seated right away. They are fast, pronto when it comes to taking your orders, food also comes out fast. We ordered, Campachana (shrimp, octopus and scallop) cocktail soup. Not bad, just not as good as what I ate on the street in Tijuana. Yes, I survived after eating street vendor food in Tijuana. lol. 3 combo, enchilada, burrito and crispy Chili Relleno. Crispy Chili Relleno was really good. We also ordered 1 soft Chile Releno ala cart to try and it was not as good as the fried one. It was not dipped in egg batter and pan fried so kind of bland. Beef Fajitas was ok, very different than what I had in Cali and Vegas. Rice and beans that came with the meal was good. A jumbo tamarind margarita on the rocks. It Was good but I wish it was blended instead. It even came with a giant Tamarind candy straw. Yes, similar to those honey or sugar stick but with Tamarind. Yummy. Tips: Tamarind stick is hard so take it home, make some fresh lemonade and dunk it in. You will thank me for that :) Price: on the high side, would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for the price. read more
Service-5/5 Ambiance -typical Mexican restaurant 2 margaritas-good but not the best. That's where they lost a star. I ordered beef taquitos & the hubs you ordered Cameron de mojo ajo. Both were excellent. Would return if we lived in the area. read more

Very busy on a Friday night. We arrived around 5:35pm. So busy we were given a pager. I asked how long. He said maybe 10 minutes. I barely sat in the waiting area before the pager went off. We were led to a table where menus, complimentary chips & two different dips were waiting. One traditional tomato based salsa and the other a shredded cabbage. There are signs posted at every table. If you want a third serving of chips there's a charge. Hubby got a wet burrito. Ample amount of carne asada. Got amount of rice and beans. I got the super enchiladas which weren't super sized. However both were just enough. Came with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole with chopped tomatoes, lettuce, Spanish rice, and beans. It was a nice dinner entree. Service was very quick and efficient. read more

And into a brightly decorated restaurant. We got seated quickly and our server gave us time to browse their huge menu. Love that they have a separate section for vegetarian food- may be have some vegan options in the future??? Food was great. Shrimp tostada: yummmy. 5 stars. One of the best I ever had in a long time. Everything tasted so fresh and the avocado added a nice touch, especially when you want to clean your palate of all the lime juice. It was nicely balanced. As seen in the pic, it was a mountain of a tostada. I ate it with some of the chips they gave for salsa. Fish tacos: 5 stars according to the little one. It was not breaded which was a plus. Just pieces of grilled fish with fresh veggies on top. We opted for a la carte - and got 2 but she only finished one and saved one for later. Steak chilaquiles: comes with eggs. Hubby thought it was ok 3.5 stars. The chilaquiles chips were so so and I thought a little too soggy for me. Vegetarian enchiladas: came with rice and beans and salad. It was huge. My mom only finished half. There was plenty of veggies for her. She thought it was decent ( she is known to be very picky with her food). 3.4 stars. Horchata: 5 stars. They got the sweetness just right. Even my mom liked it and that is saying a lot. Over all service is great. read more

This place was crowded when we got here, which was a great sign that the food was good. Although there was a line out the door, we got seated within 10 minutes. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered the fajitas for two. It came with steak, chicken, and plump bacon wrapped shrimp! Also grilled red onions, white onions, green onions, jalapeños, and mushrooms. They also brought two separate platters with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, pico, and lettuce. Flour tortillas and corn tortillas were also served with the fajitas. We ordered their guacamole, which was full of flavor and chunky pieces of avocado. Their house margarita was very strong! Delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant when you're in Page! read more
Some of the best Mexican food I've had. Especially outside of Mexico. Servers here are very hard working and always check in with guests. Service was also amazingly fast for the busiest night! There was a line out the door but we were able to get in pretty fast. We loved it so much we came back the next day for lunch. We all ordered different things and everything came out delicious. Mojarra, steak and shrimp, fajitas were some of the dishes we tried. Absolutely lives up to the hype and a must-try if you're in the area. Worth the wait! Don't forget to add a Mexican coke to your order! read more
There was a wait for dinner at around 6:30 pm, but it wasn't long. They have a separate vegetarian section on their menu, which was great for us. We ordered one plate of veggie fajitas. That was quite large, and shareable for two (along with a side of guacamole, and the customary chips and salsa). The place is very colorful; every chair and table seemed to have a unique pictorial element. The food was good, service was good, and we were happy campers. read more

El Tapatio is solid! Colorful decor, very friendly staff, good food and lots to choose from. I would recommend this place to anyone passing through Page. read more
3.5 starts rounded up. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Page, Arizona, so we had to try it. We started off with margaritas, which were sickeningly sweet. Do not recommend! Luckily the food was better. The house salsa and chips were tasty. The guacamole was too chunky though, and tasted more like salsa with hunks of avocado. The enchiladas were pretty good! The mixed fajitas on the other hand were kinda dry and not very appetizing, and the server forgot to bring tortillas to eat with it, and it took a while for him to come back with them. I also got a Chile relleno which was okay, the sauce on top could have been more flavorful. Overall a good spot and beautifully decorated inside with colorful decor. But watch out for those margaritas unless you want diabetes. read more
The airbnb that I stayed at in Page recommended trying out this place. It gets CROWDED around 6 even on a weekday. I came at 5:15 and took the last available table. Service was fast and everyone was friendly. I enjoyed the artsy stuff placed around the place and the tables. In terms of the food, I actually thought it was the best Mexican food I've had. I tried out the Tapatio Flaming and it was probably enough for 3 people. Came with moist chicken, tender beef, and amazing bacon wrapped shrimp. I got both corn and flour tortillas, didn't regret it. All flavors worked together and you could just load up your own tacos. It's a bit pricey at $52 base price but if you're out of town visiting it's definitely worth trying. When I came they didn't put the whole plate on fire like they were supposed to so not sure if they took that out or it's a weekend only thing. read more

Came here with my husband for lunch after touring the Antelope Canyon and had a really great meal! Started off with the CHIPS AND SALSA they brought to the table. The chips were super fresh and not at all oily like some other housemade tortilla chips. Husband was like "This is better than Chipotle", I was like "of course!". Chips were amazing on their own! The salsas were a tomato salsa and a mix of cabbage and some other veggies with vinegar or something? That tomato salsa was so good on its own! For the entree, we split everything. VEGETABLE FAJITAS but with salad on the side instead of rice and beans. The vegetables were super tasty! It was bell peppers, onions, yellow squash, broccoli, green beans, peas and carrots. The veggies came sizzling hot on the platter and we actually had to move them to the plate so they would cool down a little haha. Seasoning on the veggies was really nice. They were actually quite oily though so we used a bunch of napkins to press out the oil. Salad was just shredded lettuce and shredded cheese on top but it was totally fine because everything else had flavor. TAPATIO CHIMICHANGAS Chimichanga Verde - stuffed with pork, cooked in green sauce + topped with green sauce Chimichanga a la Crema - stuffed with chicken, covered with creamy white sauce Chimichanga de Mole - stuffed with chicken covered with Mole sauce Not even kidding this thing was beautiful! I was very skeptical about the creamy chicken one, and was asking if I could substitute that for the Chipotle chicken instead. The server said no so I was like okay. I'll take it as is. Turned out the Creamy sauce Chicken Chimichanga was my favorite! That creamy sauce was so good I could have had it by itself! It tasted so good even with beans and any random thing I tried it with. Mole was also good; Had that hint of sweet, and my husband actually kept it for his last bite as a dessert chimichanga, haha. I wasn't too big a fan of the pork one because I usually prefer chicken over pork. Husband loved it though, and had most of it (while I had most of the creamy chicken). Overall, I would definitely recommend going here! read more
Well.. Went to El Charro Loco only to find it closed for good.. So we came here as 2nd choice.. Friendly staff, pretty design and decor. Got the salsa, chips, and cabbage salad.. Salsa was OK but cabbage salad was pretty good.. Got the ginormous menu worh huge menu. Which is usually sign of food being so so for me.. Ordered shrimp cocktail, tapatio especial, and burrito pica. Well..... Got the shrimp cocktail.. Came in a huge bowl but the cocktail portion looked pretty pale in color.. So. I was bit worried.. Tasted the juice and it was very blend... Then i realized I didn't mix the cocktail sauce or ketchup which ever it was.. So. I mixed the content good.. Nope didn't change much.. Added some salt and drenched it with tapatio sauce and made it slightly better but not by much. Shrimps were pretty decent size and good amount.. But I have to say it was one of the most blend shrimp cocktail I have ever had. Then my main dish came.. Tapatio especial... The presentation was pretty good.. Chicken tasted ok Carne Asada was cooked pretty good but also lacked in flavor. Tasted little better after I added some salt. The bacon wrapped bacon was burnt to hell... I couldn't get over the burnt flavor very disappointing. Beans were pretty good and rice was not bad. Came with guac but it was on top of lettuce and amount was smaller than it looked. Got my flower tortilla and sad to say it was the kind you buy at grocery store. The burrito pics was not bad.. Portion was huge.. Did see a sign posted on the wall saying extra charge for 2nd servings of chips and salsa.. Luckily I didn't get charged for the extra salsa.. Feeling disappointed after I finished my meal only to be more disappointed when I got the check... Should have looked at the price better.. Most definitely not worh the money.. First time ever I had to add salt to my food at Mexican restaurant.. I could not recommend this place and definitely won't be coming back. read more

I've been to a couple of their locations in Colorado, as well as the Flagstaff, AZ location, but my favorite has to be this one in Page! Why? The staff is always extra fun and friendly here! First off, great chips and salsa with cabbage slaw! Their lunch portions are huge! My fave is Pollo A La Diabla! The sauce is kick ass! Another fave is the Molcajete, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here! Great rice and beans and lots of seafood choices as well! Love the Tamarindo Margarita but they have so many other tasty margarita options! Margs not your fave? Try a Michelada, it's like a Bloody Mary with beer! El Tapatio has so many tasty things there's sure to be something that'll make you scream olé! read more

First off the restaurant is extremely busy and the serving is very sloppy. The cocktail was the better part of the meal we had at El ta patio. The Chumuchuri enchilladas was tasty and filling while the veggie enchiladas had no taste but the Mexican rice was pretty good with a small side portion. Overall the experience was mixed. Finding a veggie restaurant in the middle of nowhere was already a win for us and therefore I recommend this restaurant! read more
This spot was pretty darn good! Not sure what we were expecting for being in Page to have Mexican food, but It did not disappoint. We'd left another restaurant after an hour wait and so we called ahead to see if they'd be able to accommodate us promptly and they did. To our pleasure they had the table ready for us even though it seemed like a very busy night. First two rounds of chips are on the house, and after that you pay extra (not sure how much). They have a very large menu including things like "diet tacos" and separation of salads, meat dishes, chicken dishes, and other... making it fairly easy to navigate - it even had a kid menu for kids under 10, $7.99. That said, quite tough when you're indecisive and hungry and the picturesque menu makes it tougher to decide on what to select. I selected the Tierra y Mar dish, which included a T-bone steak and garlic shrimp, along with sautéed mushrooms, beans and rice. I asked for salad instead of the rice and they gladly accommodated. The dish was huge, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying! The meat was prepared perfectly medium (I asked for medium because I was going to share the large steak, or would have opted for medium rare), and the mushrooms were delicious! The shrimp were a little smaller than I'd liked and came with about 5, which for the size of the dish was plenty. The beans were tasty, melted cheese on top, and the shrimp themselves were also quite good! Our server was prompt and communicative, brought us drink refills and had help with him while distributing the dishes of 12 family members. Some other notables were the veggie enchiladas, the dish was cleaned out. The Pastor tacos. Someone ordered the fried ice cream for dessert... all in all, we were pleased, our bellies full, and it was great. read more
I stopped by for dinner on a quick trip through the area. I made a great choice. I had the carnitas taco combination. I'd give this a 4/5 simply because of how great the service was and how massive the portion sizes were. They also provided chips and salsa on the house, which was a really nice touch. My husband and I ordered one chicken plate (for 1) to share because we weren't hungry, and my goodness it ended up being WAY more food than we were anticipating. We had a lot of leftovers. Overall, the food was pretty good. It was your typical Mexican fare and flavors -- beans, rice, salsa, protein. The chicken was moist and had a generous heaping of cheese on it. The flavors didn't really impress me though (nothing super unique) and the dish certainly felt very heavy and wet, which is not really my style. If you're very hungry after hiking in the area, El Tapatio is not a bad option! Good bang for your buck! read more

Wow! Didn't know I was signing up for dinner and a show at El Tapatio! This restaurant is a colorful gem decorated like you're inside the Disney movie Coco. Very fun ambience and music. Once we were seated, we were served complimentary chips and salsa. Chips tasted fresh, crispy, and perfectly salted. Their menu is hugeee. I'm talking multiple pages with entrees organized by protein - chicken, beef, seafood, or pork. I decided to go with their beef fajitas. Little did I know that I would be ordering two meals because their potions are ginormous! They gave me an entirely separate plate for rice, beans, guac, and pico de gallo. When the fajitas came out, the server added some oil so the entire plate lit on fire. As much as I enjoyed the show, it made the fajitas more on the oily side. Taste-wise, they were decent, but nothing outstanding. We were also surprised that an 18% gratuity bill was already added onto our bill. Just a heads up! read more

Service was okay, place could be cleaner/updated. The food was not that great. The enchilada sauce tasted and looked weird. The super burrito was not that great either.
