Five stars all around, on service, atmosphere and food of course. Our waiters (plural) were very attentive. The atmosphere leaves you feeling like you're in the Wild West. The food was absolutely delicious. We split the carambola (top sirloin for 2). It came out perfectly medium rare, as ordered. When I asked about sides, the waiter pointed to everything listed in the menu: - cheese quesadilla - beef broth - vinaigrette potatoes - mustard liver - house salad - beans - tortillas - coyotas (dessert) That's right, all of that comes included. Also, the place was immaculate, including the kitchen, which I always appreciate. Plenty of parking in the back. At the time we went, there was a 90 minute seating limit, though I'm not sure if it's enforced. read more

For our 4 year anniversary we decided to go here. It was our first time. And we didn't know what to expect. We got here around 7pm! They sat ya right away. We were trying to understand the menu and decided to do parillada for 2. For drinks I got a virgen pina coloda and bae got a soda. We had to idea how amazing the portions and parrilladas are. So pretty much this is how it works. Each person gets a quesadilla each, salads (two types) big to share. The meat comes on the grill and your choice of chicken pork ribs and the meat. We chose chicken ribs and the meat. Beans comes with that. We also ordered an extra order of the quesadilla because we loved them and also an order of guacamole. Portions are amazing! There's no way you can't leave this place hungry. It's súper amaizing. When we thought we were all done and ready to leave. Surprise!!! It comes with dessert as well! Coyotitas. It's like a toasted tortillas with caramel inside. The service was spectacular. Amazing service. I loved coming here. And bae as well! We are definitely coming back!!! Prices are even better!!! Stay classy Tijuana! A great throwback restaurant in the heart of Tijuana. We got there at 3pm and already the place was packed. We had the tripas appetizer. The deep fried it and then grilled it. It had a crispy grilled taste I don't think I have experienced before. We also had the beef tongue. They slow braised it and served it in its juice. Que rico!! We shared the machaca burrito. It was packed with flavor and moist. Our steaks had great taste but I would recommend getting the ribeye and the New York. Ours were a little tough due to the cut of beef. Rodeo, old western steakhouse with plenty of rear parking. Most of the time in the evening or night there is a wait time. Once inside and seated, they bring you appetizer on the house. With every meal, you get broth, small quesadilla, cured peppers and potatoes. Go easy when ordering, I always order the platter with beef, chicken & tripe end up with extra food left behind. There is parking in the back which easily can be missed. The chips/salsa, appetiser that comes with your meal is good. One of the salads has cooked liver as well, my baby didn't like that but I liked it. It is an acquired taste. The ribeye was good, cooked right, pretty tender and yummy. It's not as good as a few other places we have been at here, but pretty good overall. You get a lot of extras including dessert with your meal... that by itself is a full dinner. This place is my family and I's first stop once we cross the border, ALWAYS. Everything from their chips & salsa to their frijoles and coyotas are delicious. We always order the parillada that feeds four and comes with your choice of three main meats (costillitas, carne asada, pollo, tripitas). I do not know how they do it but the way they cook their meat is always so tender and flavorful. You can definitely taste the quality of the meat and the warm tortillas and great salsa go so well. El Vaquero, dang it was a good piece of meat! Medium rare just the way I like it. I guess they hook it up with a jugo de carne and a quesadilla before the meal. So it definitely didn't feel long when my steak came out. Service was friendly and quick. I guess it helps when its for a table of one. Lol. But still dinner was great and I got a free dessert. A warm empanada, cookie sweet bread that was pretty good. Its a good size place seems good for big groups. Fully stock bar and the beer is cold. I'm a happy diner. read more

Fantastic meal. Not inexpensive, but the same quality food and service would run over $100 in the USA and over $150 in LA or Vegas. I had a couple hours to kill while my car was getting detailed up the street at Sharky's. Went around the corner to BCB Beer tasting and then decided to get a good meal. Los Arcos was a bit crowded so I walked down the street to El Rodeo. I have been driving by for ages and always wanted to try the place. At 5 on a Thursday evening the place was not crowded at all - only a couple other tables. Full bar on the premises, but I only got a beer. I guess the appetizers are standard - some kind of pickled potato dish and a salad with chunks of meat, which I asked about but couldn't understand the reply, and which later turned out to be liver. Not bad, neither dish was something I would order or pay for. Of course, chips and a very good, decently hot salsa were provided. Then onto the steak - I ordered the Vaquero, medium rare. It was fantastic. Well marbled and flavorful. It was cooked a bit unevenly as some parts were very rare and others medium. No worries. It came with a sort of au jus and incredible pinto beans and fresh tortillas. A feast for a king and I left well satisfied. Total out the door with tip was under $45, including beers. Service was great (very little English), and there looked to be plenty of parking out back. Most highly recommended. read more

I've been coming to El Rodeo with my family since before I can remember (which makes it nearly 30 years). To this day, it remains unchanged as my favorite restaurant in the entire world. While I haven't been everywhere, I don't think another dining experience will come close to it. Sure, there may be fancier restaurants with super star celebrity chefs and 3 Michelin stars, but very few other restaurants will provide such a focused and genuine experience, in that, El Rodeo is the quintessential Mexican dining experience. It's ranch-style cuisine, so expect healthy portions of a meat-focused menu, cooked and presented in beautiful simplicity. El Rodeo also offers several complimentary sides to eat throughout the meal. You start with pickled vegetables, which is then followed up by the most savory beef consomme I've ever had. Next is a quesadilla that will make you question whether you've ever had a real quesadilla before. All of this is included in whatever entree you ordered (I highly recommend the tripitas de leche). read more

A barely OK Sonora style steakhouse... good to explore, not good enough to come back. We ordered a 'Parrillada' that included 3 different meats: arrachera, rib and either chicken or 'tripa'. The steak was ok and the best parts were the side dishes that included: 'jugo de carne' (beef broth) quesadillas and 'coyotas' (toasted tortilla-like desert filled with unrefined sugar). Service was friendly although many times missing when needed. Price is moderate. Ambiance resembles an old town saloon. Will not recommend, will not comeback. read more

We drove around TJ n decided to give this place a try. Nice place especially for Tijuana standards. The decor is cool n i get the style BUT it is TOO expensive and really not worth the price. It was good but not exceptional. Definitely won't be coming back for seconds.we ordered the "Parrillada" for two and 2 drinks n a guacamole. Out total price was $60. Pricey for TJ. We had an absolutely wonderful time dining at Rodeo yesterday. As other yelpers mention the food comes in really large, satisfying portions ---BUT unlike many places they maintain QUALITY in the meat texture, taste and savoriness. We had the parriada and lengua side. Tortillas hot and guacamole so pure and fresh. Tecate on tap and we had Don Julio 70 tequila afterwards for "the digestion". The comp side dishes really were unexpected and the full bar is at your service. But what I look for too is an establishments service: here our waiter was incredible! A vet of the restaurant since the 70s he's dedicated his professional life to Rodeo patrons dining experiences. And then we noted the owner making table rounds asking everyone if all OK / they needed anything else. A really important touch you don't see much any more. It had been over 20 years. I was back in my hometown for work and this was walking distance from hotel so I just had to. Has not changed one bit. Delicious as ever. I was skeptical it would be, but once I took the first sip of my jugo de carne and a whiff of my Sonora quesadilla I knew I was home. $35 for the carne asada plate with all the tons (of free) fixings, glass of wine, including tax and tip (and an extra meal with leftovers). Meat was cooked perfectly and I knew when he restated how I wanted it that it would be. As a kid I hoped for the day when my dad would deem the day a special occasion to go here. Now I can't wait to keep coming back when I am in town for work. Note: this is a comfortable place if dining alone ladies. Guests might stare (but they will in TJ) but staff was awesome! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Tijuana. I have to be careful or I will eat too much. The Queso Vaquero could be a meal in itself. It is rich melted cheese with chorizo served with tortillas. My other favorite appetizer is Cecina de Venado which is a sort of venison jerky. Don't expect the tough jerky you get at gas stations. No, this venison jerky is full of flavor and isn't completely dry. For the main meal I order the Parrilladas. Which comes with several sides. First is a cup of caldo de res, which is a beef stock soup. A salad, chips, salsa, a quesidilla and a bowl for pickled carrots, potatoes, onions and liver. The meat comes served on a hibachi like grill, still cooking the meat. You can choose three different meat combinations. The original which is ribs, carne asada and tripes. Next is the Silvestre which is venison, quail and goat. Lastly is the Vaquero which is sirloin, chicken breast and chorizo. The quail was spiced to mellow out the gamey flavor. It was excellent. For dessert, we got ice cream and that was our meal. They didn't rush us out and the service was excellent as it always is in Tijuana. On hot days, I get a lime michelada with Sol and is light and refreshing. So if you want a real cowboy experience I highly recommend this restaurant. Best steak you can get from either side of the border! Order the Vaquero and man does it pack flavor! The portions also large. While it may not be as affordable as tacos, it is definitely worth it. Very nice place to dine, a must try if you visit Tijuana. It has that old school feeling to it , from the ambiance, to the menu carved in wood. The best steak I've tried and more than anything loved the condiments that came with it, the guac, the fried potatoes , tomatoes , the pickles.
