We love El Rodeo! During our recent week long vacation we had dinner here twice. On one night it was our server's first shift and she did wonderfully. The bill is presented with strawberry syrup drizzled fried tortillas which provide just the right amount of sweetness after a delicious meal. I live down the street from El Rodeo and must say this is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is exactly what you would expect for Mexican food in central oregon, but I have to say the service is incredible. I feel so welcome and taken care of here and for me at a resturant that goes a long way. Fast service, family friendly, casual. It's a great spot to relax on a weekend or weeknight. The "Perfect" Margarita is the best bang for your buck, and I really love the chicken fluatas. Love this joint! read more

I ordered two chicken tacos a la carte and they came out in taco bell looking hard shells. I sent them back for soft corn tortillas. When they arrived back at the table they consisted of semi dry shredded chicken , Iceburg lettuce, and cheddar cheese. The food is horrendous !!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the most Non Authentic Mexican food I have probably ever had . Highly disappointed. I have eaten Better street tacos for a dollar. I would never eat at this place ever , and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone . If I could give it zero stars, I would!!!! read more

We eat Mexican at least once a week. Be it with our group of friends or just our family. El Rodeo is probably our third choice in town mostly due to their location. We frequent it more for lunch (close to work) than for dinner. We did have a VERY good meal here a couple months ago celebrating a birthday dinner for a dear friend. My wife raved about her chicken chimichanga, stating it was probably the best she's ever had. And with the large group (over 15) the service was outstanding. Reading other Yelp reviews, I agree with many of them. Very good service that is warm, welcoming and attentive. An excellent point was made about immediate seating. In all the times we've been here, I cannot remember an occasion we waited more than a minute. Then once seated, the water, chips and salsa are always soon to follow. Which, when you are hungry, is always a bonus for Mexican. Gotta love those complimentary chips and salsa. Of the 3 Mexican restaurants we frequent on a regular basis, this one, in my opinion, is the least favorite for atmosphere and ambiance. Which is NOT a make or break deal for me. And it's not like this place is a dive. I'm just saying....the other two get a better rating from me in this category. We all have our personal tastes and preferences, this one rates 3rd. Which other two? El Cap Eastside & El Rancho Grande up at Cascade Village Mall. And as I've stated in their reviews, all three of these places offer very similar fare for the same price. Good food. Great service. It's Mexican in Bend. Which brings me to another point. Allow me to vent here: Is it authentic? People who bash on our local Mexican restaurants for not being authentic need to chill out. This is Central Oregon, not Cabo. I have loved this restaurant for probably over ten years. I come here all the time and the service is always very laid back and pleasant and the food is very consistent. Every time I walk in there I know exactly what to expect. Their chicken chipotle is probably my favorite Mexican dish I have ever had. My whole family goes there for just about every birthday/holiday/special event and we have never once in ten years been disappointed with either the food or the service. The servers, owners, and management treat you like family and overall the atmosphere is very welcoming. I recommend this restaurant to everyone! I am so shocked that this place got such good reviews because both my husband and myself became quite ill from our meal the other night. I found out later that other people have had similar experiences, which I wish someone would have posted on here!!! Also, the $15 margaritas were regrettable and neither of us could even choke a quarter of it down. We literally flushed $60.00 down the toilet for substandard food. The service was okay though. I gotta give them that! This restaurant reminds me of a place my family used to go to in Arizona when I was a kid. Tourist town Mexican decor, large booths with vinyl seats and filled with families. The food was decent. I had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada and bean tostada with rice and beans on the side. It was ok. My husband had a carne asada burrito and said that it was "alright". Don't get me wrong, though--he ate the entire thing. My in-laws had a chicken burrito and one of the specialty chicken dishes that I can't for the life of me remember the name of. They said that the specialty dish was really good. They both also had margaritas and seemed to like them. My toddler had a cheese crisp, which is always a winner in his book. Overall, it was a good meal. The place is kid-friendly (as observed by 90% of the tables having children sitting at them) so no one seemed to mind toddler babbling and the occasional tantrum. We got great service with frequent refills on drinks and quick help in cleaning up a mess when my son dumped my beer on the table and into my lap. We'll probably go to El Rodeo again when we want a simple, filling meal with the family. It's by no means a high-brow dining experience, but foots the bill if I want to feel like I'm back in Arizona in the early 80's. read more

El Rodeo is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Bend. The staff there, especially Javier, is extremely friendly and they are always there when you need something. I used to work nearby and go to El Rodeo every Sunday for lunch, and they knew I only had half an hour, so the service was always very quick, even when they were busy. The chips and salsa were always great, and I love the little chip with cinnamon, strawberry and whip cream dessert they always bring for you. Went back again with the family. Luckily we arrived before the big rush! When we left the waiting area was standing room only. This visit we were sat in a different dining area and it had a fire pit in the center. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas that were very decent for the price of $25! All 4 of us were happy with our meals. My husband gave 5 stars to the surf/turf combo of carne asada and shrimp. My chili relleno was one of the best I have had! The kids plate was plenty big enough for my 11 year old and the college son couldn't quite finish his burrito! The rice was still above average and the beans just average. I did not want to go to Downtown Bend since I have been to all the Mexican Restaurants there so we decided to stay local. We walked in and got seated right away our drinks came very quick with great suggestions. I ordered the fajita burrito but the chicken was very dry. I read many of the reviews in here...so my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try. We went around 7 PM last (Friday) evening, so the place was very busy (and rather loud) as expected. Nonetheless, we were seated within 10 minutes...which was great. We were immediately served warm chips, coleslaw, and a medium hot salsa....all, which were delicious. She ordered prawn fajitas and I tried the burro Acapulco. We shared the dishes. Both were fresh, hot, and super yummy! We could only eat half, so some good leftovers to eat today during March Madness. I'm actually giving 4 1/2 stars. 1/2 star deducted for the inordinate amount of noise....which wasn't a deal-breaker for us. We'll be back!! From our first experience here it was clear that the restaurant is family owned and operated and that they take pride in their food. The owner is always welcoming and regularly greets, seats and serves his guests. He is also very willing to accommodate people with food allergies and enjoys whipping up special off the menu plates for guests to try. The ambiance is nice and the facilities are kept clean. Couldn't find this on Yelp to check the review because it's listed under American for some reason. This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had - and I'm hard to please when it comes to Mexican food. It even rivals my abuela's (shhhh! Don't tell her I said that!) El Rodeo use to be our favorite place. We came here for lunch recently and the receptionist wasn't friendly and said - see if you can find a table in the bar. We had the lunch portions which were still $12-$13 and they barely put any chicken mole on. If you get a burrito the portion seems larger. The service was okay. They also had a big note that they would not refill anything without a charge for the chips or the salsa. Their pricing is higher than it was before. Really disappointed in our midday meal at El Rodeo... Our margaritas were very good - hit the spot! But the Chili Verde Taco Salad was small and substandard - a small flour tortilla bowl filled with dry pork with a bit of sauce, topped with some shredded iceberg lettuce, and a very thin half slice of tomato. Very Pathetic Skimpy Salad itself was about $9.50 each. Saving grace was the requested addition of sour cream and guacamole... added cost for each salad was $3. Sorry for the waiter... wasn't his fault. But just couldn't leave our usual adiquit tip. Would rather have paid $14 - $15 for lucious beautiful Taco Salad... read more
