Overall good food. Was with a group of 6. Table salsa was a little too Smokey/chipotle flavor. Tried a mild salsa and it was almost from a jar. The tamales got high marks from two in the group who had them. They looked great. I had a seafood burrito. It was great. I've eaten here a few times. I'm vegan who sometimes eats seafood, and I'm not big into beans so its always a challenge to find something that suits me at Mexican restaurants. However, the first time I ate here I asked the waiter (a man) if I could get their bacon-wrapped shrimp dish, minus the bacon. They said 'no problem' and it came as an entrée, covering the entire dish, with no separate beans or rice on the plate. It was good and I had enough left over for a meal the next day. Every time since when I've been to El Rodeo I specifically ask the wait staff (a woman) if I can get the same dish and every single time they've brought me something entirely different - a dish that has a small amount of the entrée and a large amount of beans and rice separate on the same plate-the very thing I asked them NOT to bring. The waitress I've spoken to (numerous times) about this has seemed bothered and annoyed with me. No apology, no compensation to make it right - just a lot of excuses why she couldn't give me what I wanted (after the fact, BTW). I think maybe its the same waitress that other reviewers have mentioned here as being difficult. Why on earth would a restaurant want a waitress that consistently acts annoyed and put out with customers and doesn't give them what they specifically ask for??? Its a shame. I live close by and would frequent their restaurant if I could get the dish I want. I won't be back. read more

I just love it here!! Ive been here dozens of times. At least! The fajita salad or the enchiladas are my go-to. My husband claims the pollo con creme is best he's has. And he's quite the aficionado. Colorado burrito was certainly hotter than hell (seems likely from an industrial microwave). Refried beans had a soupy, gravy-like consistency. The Colorado beef is chunky and tasty, but the size of this burrito is on the small side. My wife had an enchilada and taco. She took only one bite of the ground beef taco before offering it to me. I could eat just one bite. It was bland and my first thought was 'this doesn't even compare to my homemade tacos'. Not my first visit, still very underwhelming. Sorry this is not great Mexican food. Starvation had set in and we were heading for a small Eastern Oregon town late at night. The unreal, yet very real, thought that we'd have to eat at McD's made me sad. Was there Friday night. Busy place which was great for business. When we finally got a table on the bar it was a 6 foot table against the wall where the chairs were on the opposite sides of each other. I understand social distancing from others but not the one other person I was with. I personally recommend putting that long table in the middle of the bar and a smaller table against the wall that table easily could fit 6 people on a open floor. It was very awkward trying to have a conversation with who I was with so far away, but yet right behind me was a couple standing at the corner of the bar. They were definitely not 6 feet away from me and they got all the service in the world standing there where we had to flag down someone to order more drinks. If I knew we could have gone and stood at the bar when we got there; we wouldn't have had to wait 25 minutes for a awkward table. A few of the Managers were excited to see regulars and shaking customers hands, even hugging some people they knew. Not practicing social distancing at all. Not sure I'd come Back. Decided to have a small bridal shower in the bar. Called ahead and was told no problem and was assured we would be taken care of. We got there early to set up and the staff was amazing. They helped us get tables together, set up decorations and arrange seating. They even got a small table set up for gifts. When guest started to arrived the staff was on the ball getting drinks, food and anything we needed. I can't thank the staff enough for a great time. Definitely will come back again. read more

There's never a waiter or waitress far away and they attend to your table as if you were royalty, their wait staff just blows me away with their speed & genuine family like friendliness, always keeping your drinks topped off and making sure you have what you need. The food is consistent time and time again, excellent quality in everything and all home made. Serving up some very unique and wonderful flavors in dishes such as, to name a few, Steak Picado; juicy tender steak grilled perfectly over flame, cooked in a mouth watering tomato sauce /w just enough heat from some jalapenos to give it that flavorful zip, to their special Enchiladas Rancheras; bathed in a mouthwatering, flavorful deep red sauce, not being even close to the average Americanized sauce you get elsewhere. I'll also add that these guys know how to cook their meat and they use excellent quality cuts. I have been frequenting this restaurant for years and know everyone by name as they do myself and my family. The owner, Rudy, comes around and visits tables as he's frequently there, it's very clear that he loves food and is proud of what he produces out of his kitchen. I was told about this place from some friends who live in Bend and decided to give it a try. I had the chicken mole which was super, the wife and one of our daughter's had the beef fajita and our other daughter had the veggis fajita. All three thought the food was excellent. This is probably one of the better Mexican restaurants in Bend. With that said, they can be very busy!
