Sat for 15 mins at the counter with no A/C and then the person who just got in was approached by the waitress for his order.. the whole time I was waiting she was adding up someone's bill right next to me.. wow, I thought restaurants served customers.. guess not.. read more

Nice little Mexican restaurant on Main St in Bishop. Prices are average, burritos were huge, service was solid and salsa was good.

Food was great! service was fast and friendly. i would definitely recommend this establishment! Try the carne asada burrito!

Once we found this gem on the main road, we were set for all of our meals. We find that good food is hard to locate in Bishop, so we were thrilled with this warm, family-owned restaurant. The huevos a la Mexicana and their home-made salsas and guacamole are delicious. Oh, and the chicken-breast TORRANCE sandwich. Tali is delightful and will take care of you. read more

We went to mammoth for a cabin/ snowboarding trip & on our way back, we decided to stop here for breakfast/ lunched. We entered through the back which led us through the kitchen. Awkward from the kitchen staff was extremely friendly. They reminded you of your typical warm welcoming Asian/ Mexican/ Latino families. I ordered the carnitas plate. My food came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious. The carnitas wasn't over cooked & it was extremely tender. Our waitress brought out 4 different sauces & introduced each one to us. I would definitely come back when I'm back in the area. Definitely authentic Mexican food =) read more

Super good food. Generous portions. Very quick, friendly service. Just passing through and tried it based on Yelp. They bring 3 sauces with the meal and they really add a great hit of flavour to the pinto beans. Carnitas tacos were so full, you really couldn't even wrap them up! Recommended. read more

This Older little Dive is a pretty tasty place. Lots of options, Mexican OR American, your choice. Not The greatest but the salsa was perfect for me as they have a mild and a hot option. This building has been around since my younger days, it has changed owners and menus many times but somehow always remains a bit the same. They do have cold beer and tacos. That is a good thing. read more

If Amigos (right next door) is full, you've had a long day, can't go elsewhere, don't mind literally hamburger patty enchiladas, can wait for refills or re-order of additional items while the Spanish-speaking-only waitress can put her phone down long enough to help you, you should eat here. Service aside, salsa was a chunky mix of grainy tomatoes, onions and minimally flavorful spice. Even bean & cheese burrito was runny and wet. Ask for the owner, or go elsewhere. read more

Cheap breakfast. Super super clean kitchen - walk through it yourself. We would rather eat here then jacks any day. The staff is super friendly. Fresh orange juice. read more

We came here for dinner. Two of us had fish tacos, one had the chili rellenos and one had the carne asana. Overall it's was decent, but not the best we've had. The tortillas were fresh (big bonus), and the beans were actually rather good, but the rest was just so-so. For those looking to drink be aware they carry beer here, but no margaritas. read more

Had a fantastic grilled fish taco dinner plate. I come from the Bay Area and eat fish tacos often, but these surpass many of my favorites there. The fish had a great balance of spices. Pair that with their wide variety of salsas and it was delicious! The homemade corn tortillas were also yummy. The service was very good, prompt and very cheerful. Have to say, that for such an unpretentious place, it really exceeded my expectations. read more

Best Mexican restaurant in town! My family has been going here for years, we love the food and the staff. The enchiladas are incredible, as are the chips and salsa. We never go anywhere but here when we're in the Mexican mood. read more

Charming little restaurant, unfortunately my husband and I both ended up with food poisoning. Husband said his tacos didn't taste right (but he ate them), my food was good but I think they must have cooked on same grill as my symptoms were a bit less than his, he was down for three days and this is a guy who is never sick. read more

Food is amazing! Great Service! I definitely recommend it if your in the Bishop area and need amazing food!

Best Chilaquiles I've ever had. And the avocado, colorado, and verde salsas were all delicious. Great, genuine service and an awesome breakfast. I will definitely come back to El Ranchito next time I'm passing through Bishop. Thank you!! read more

On our way home from Tahoe 7/31/18, hungry , so my husband suggested Mexican food. Cool, everyone agreed. Stopped in this place and first impression , "Filthy "entrance . Stuff piled up and placed on the floor . I couldn't tell if this was the right direction to go. Signs read "entrance"which lead us through the kitchen out to dining area. Sat down and the silverware was dirty with orange/ red particles on the fork! Yuk! The place looked so unkept and I couldn't believe we were there. Somehow the waitress must of notice me trying to clean the silverware , my brother picked up a new set from another table. I cringed!!! Hoping and wandering how they wash their dishes!!! I ordered a torta so I would not have to use any silver ware, ate my salad with my fingers!!! While waiting for our food, the waitress killed something on the counter with a fly swatter and just flicked it off the counter !!!! Horrified! I was looked at like I was not welcomed there. Waitress would not look at me like my other quests. She was such a creep!! Never ever again!! No stars for me for this place read more

Great authentic Mexican food! Fast service and easy going. Better than Amigos, right next door

Authentic restaurant with superb Mexican food and a very helpful and attentive waitress. Give this place my highest recommendations.

Very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Lots of delicious sauces and nice people and great customer service. Yummy veggie burritos!

The chips and salsa were excellent, but the excellence ended there. No margaritas, waitress got orders wrong, food was greasy and pretty basic. The decor and atmosphere were lacking at best. read more

This place was good. Place looks like a dinner, I think it's family owned. We ordered menudo and cream shrimp. It was very tasty, service was good. The menu is different than most mexican in town. read more

The food was fantastic and the menu contain a lot of variety. The restaurant is rustic, but very clean. The kitchen was also clean as we were able to view it as we came in the back door. A great find. read more

I think this is the best restaurant in the Eastern Sierra. Seriously. They serve honest and good quality mexican food in an diner environment. Super friendly staff who care and actually want you to enjoy yourself. Awesome breakfasts! There is a review here by Harry P who is obviously a beard for someone who runs Amigos. The second best mexican joint in Bishop is Las Palmas. Amigos is not even in the top 10 restaurants in Bishop - and there are only about 3 good ones in the entire Owens Valley. read more

I'm orignially from San Diego and am a big Mexican food snob! I've been living in Bishop for 3 years now and by far they have the best Mexican food in town! I love their carnitas and carne asada burrito. Their burritos are close to my beloved burritos seved in my favorite San Diego taco shops! Also their seafood entrees are amazing! They have great seafood and vegetarian options so this place is great for vegetarians. Prices are about the same as the other Mexican places. Unfortunately they don't get the crowds the other places have. I really don't understand why Amigos, Las Casitas, and Astorgas have a lot of patrons, they have awful food and overpriced! My second runner up Mexican restaurant is Las Palmas and that's only because they are nice and they serve amazing Margaritas and have a great selection Tequila. I wish El Ranchito served margaritas. I really like the 50s diner feel of El Ranchito, it's different and I love the friendly service. And their kitchen is very clean (you can enter from the back and have to walk through the kitchen). Overall great quality food. If there are bad reviews on here it's only because those people don'thave good taste in food. Oh also this is the only Mexican restaurant that I've actually seen Mexican families eat at so that says a lot! read more

Excellent huevos rancheros. Our go to breakfast place whenever we are in town. Friendly and fast service. Can't wait to be back!

Maria and her husband do a wonderful job with both Mexican and American favorites; breakfast, lunch and dinner. One of my favorites is the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail with Octopus, a lovely marriage between civeche and gazpacho. The home made horchata is delicious and so are the various flavored cold coffees. read more

UGH! I wish I would've gotten pics but we were just passing through and I left my phone in the car. First- we actually had yelped a different shop around the corner but the menu didn't hit that YUM nerve so we walked across the street. We had two options because they are right next door (odd!) to either go to Amigo's or El Ranchito's. Again, left phone in car so had no reference. Just random choice and walked in here. First impression--family restaurant, which is ALWAYS a plus in my book! Place was clean enough, waitress was friendly enough, and decor was comfortable enough. Husband ordered Crane Asada taco plate, I had the bean and cheese burrito. OMGEEEE....i know it was just bean and cheese, but it was one of the best i ever had! hahaha I used the red salsa and together there was a yummy smoky flavor (not sure if it came form beans or salsa) but it was perfect. it was also so big I couldn't finish, which I always finish! Let me also say I didn't eat dinner that night because I was still full--so portion is NOT an option here! Lastly, it was so affordable we actually felt we got the better end of the deal--which doesn't happen with most businesses these days. My suggestion...GO! its good stuff. read more

Fantastic Service, great traditional food. Came here for breakfast. They make the fresh squeezed orange juice in front of you. Would definitely recommend and certainly come back again. read more

Local family owned. I like a place that you can walk thru the kitchen from the back parking lot to go into. They aren't hiding anything. Mexican food and basic grill food. Nothing fancy, just good basic food. A good place if one person wants Mexican food and another wants a burger. They also make milkshakes. Fairly clean, diner like atmosphere. Customer service is usually pretty great. A good basic place to eat in Bishop that you can get in and out of in a short period of time. Easy parking lot and street parking behind it. Prices are reasonable. I like the Mexican food here better than at Amigos which is next door to it. Menu is a bit tough if you are a strict vegetarian. read more

Best Mexican food in town. Great food at fair prices. Friendly staff with quick service. Try the tamales and the ceviche tostatas.

The waiter was friendly and place reasonably clean. While the horchata was good, my carne asada was overcooked and chewy. The burrito the person next to me had looked good and might be a better choice. read more

Great service! Great food! Waitress was busy but she was very attentive to us. They served breakfast all day! And the chiliquiles were amazing! We will definitely stop here again on our way home from Mammoth read more

This is a great place for breakfast. I have not eaten here for any other meal. The Macha breakfast burrito is huge and rockin good. They have both a mild and hot salsa. The hot salsa is pretty hot. The staff is friendly and the environment is adequate. I look forward to eating here whenever I'm in town. read more

After having a terrible experience at a Cafe place in Mammoth Lakes, we decided to try out El Ranchito in Bishop. The breakfast was SO GOOD!!! And the service was great! Definitely authentic Mexican food and I can't put into words how tasteful everything was... and the place was delightful. read more

Fast, friendly service with delicious food! Huge servings and great prices. Definitely stop in

Stopped in for breakfast, what a find!! Our whole family truly enjoyed the food and service!! It a must have in Bishop!!!

Good food. Spicy salsa Son liked his tacos. Spouse not thrilled with chicken fajitas but I really liked my tamal and enchilada

Stopped here fro lunch on our way through town. Great find!! We both had the Mexican style tacos. The El Pastor, carnitas and barbacoa were all excellent. Terrific tortillas - soft, tasty but didn't disintegrate while we were eating. 3 tacos is a very filling lunch - 2 would suffice for most folks. read more

Really great place to eat. We accidentally went through the back door, and walked to the kitchen but everyone was very friendly and just waved us through to the front. We were very promptly seated and food came quickly. They have fantastic chips and salsa that comes before the meal, and all the dishes are flavorful and satisfying. The tacos and burritos with carnitas are incredible, and definitely try the ala carte soft tacos bGreat eat, absolutely recommend. read more

Waitress somehow forgot my order even though it pointed out the dish to her on the menu. The Al Pastor burrito is one if the most unimpressive I've had in quite some time. read more
