Food was very good don't eat out to much for mexi food cuz very rare u find one that's homemade & good tasting food.

Great service. Home cooked country style potatoes were on point. The menu has a great mix of cafe style meals and authentic Mexican dishes.

On our way home from Tahoe 7/31/18, hungry , so my husband suggested Mexican food. Cool, everyone agreed. Stopped in this place and first impression , "Filthy "entrance . Stuff piled up and placed on the floor . I couldn't tell if this was the right direction to go. Signs read "entrance"which lead us through the kitchen out to dining area. Sat down and the silverware was dirty with orange/ red particles on the fork! Yuk! The place looked so unkept and I couldn't believe we were there. Somehow the waitress must of notice me trying to clean the silverware , my brother picked up a new set from another table. I cringed!!! Hoping and wandering how they wash their dishes!!! I ordered a torta so I would not have to use any silver ware, ate my salad with my fingers!!! While waiting for our food, the waitress killed something on the counter with a fly swatter and just flicked it off the counter !!!! Horrified! I was looked at like I was not welcomed there. Waitress would not look at me like my other quests. She was such a creep!! Never ever again!! No stars for me for this place read more

UGH! I wish I would've gotten pics but we were just passing through and I left my phone in the car. First- we actually had yelped a different shop around the corner but the menu didn't hit that YUM nerve so we walked across the street. We had two options because they are right next door (odd!) to either go to Amigo's or El Ranchito's. Again, left phone in car so had no reference. Just random choice and walked in here. First impression--family restaurant, which is ALWAYS a plus in my book! Place was clean enough, waitress was friendly enough, and decor was comfortable enough. Husband ordered Crane Asada taco plate, I had the bean and cheese burrito. OMGEEEE....i know it was just bean and cheese, but it was one of the best i ever had! hahaha I used the red salsa and together there was a yummy smoky flavor (not sure if it came form beans or salsa) but it was perfect. it was also so big I couldn't finish, which I always finish! Let me also say I didn't eat dinner that night because I was still full--so portion is NOT an option here! Lastly, it was so affordable we actually felt we got the better end of the deal--which doesn't happen with most businesses these days. My suggestion...GO! its good stuff. read more

Super good food. Generous portions. Very quick, friendly service. Just passing through and tried it based on Yelp. They bring 3 sauces with the meal and they really add a great hit of flavour to the pinto beans. Carnitas tacos were so full, you really couldn't even wrap them up! Recommended. read more

This Older little Dive is a pretty tasty place. Lots of options, Mexican OR American, your choice. Not The greatest but the salsa was perfect for me as they have a mild and a hot option.This building has been around since my younger days, it has changed owners and menus many times but somehow always remains a bit the same. If Amigos (right next door) is full, you've had a long day, can't go elsewhere, don't mind literally hamburger patty enchiladas, can wait for refills or re-order of additional items while the Spanish-speaking-only waitress can put her phone down long enough to help you, you should eat here. Service aside, salsa was a chunky mix of grainy tomatoes, onions and minimally flavorful spice. Even bean & cheese burrito was runny and wet. Ask for the owner, or go elsewhere. read more

We came here for dinner. Two of us had fish tacos, one had the chili rellenos and one had the carne asana. Overall it's was decent, but not the best we've had. The tortillas were fresh (big bonus), and the beans were actually rather good, but the rest was just so-so. For those looking to drink be aware they carry beer here, but no margaritas. read more

Had a fantastic grilled fish taco dinner plate. I come from the Bay Area and eat fish tacos often, but these surpass many of my favorites there. The fish had a great balance of spices. Pair that with their wide variety of salsas and it was delicious! The homemade corn tortillas were also yummy. The service was very good, prompt and very cheerful. I think this is the best restaurant in the Eastern Sierra. Seriously. They serve honest and good quality mexican food in an diner environment. Super friendly staff who care and actually want you to enjoy yourself. Awesome breakfasts! There is a review here by Harry P who is obviously a beard for someone who runs Amigos. The second best mexican joint in Bishop is Las Palmas. Amigos is not even in the top 10 restaurants in Bishop - and there are only about 3 good ones in the entire Owens Valley. read more

I'm orignially from San Diego and am a big Mexican food snob! I've been living in Bishop for 3 years now and by far they have the best Mexican food in town! I love their carnitas and carne asada burrito. Their burritos are close to my beloved burritos seved in my favorite San Diego taco shops! Also their seafood entrees are amazing! They have great seafood and vegetarian options so this place is great for vegetarians. Prices are about the same as the other Mexican places. Unfortunately they don't get the crowds the other places have. I really don't understand why Amigos, Las Casitas, and Astorgas have a lot of patrons, they have awful food and overpriced! My second runner up Mexican restaurant is Las Palmas and that's only because they are nice and they serve amazing Margaritas and have a great selection Tequila. I wish El Ranchito served margaritas. I really like the 50s diner feel of El Ranchito, it's different and I love the friendly service. And their kitchen is very clean (you can enter from the back and have to walk through the kitchen). Overall great quality food. If there are bad reviews on here it's only because those people don'thave good taste in food. Oh also this is the only Mexican restaurant that I've actually seen Mexican families eat at so that says a lot! read more

Maria and her husband do a wonderful job with both Mexican and American favorites; breakfast, lunch and dinner. One of my favorites is the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail with Octopus, a lovely marriage between civeche and gazpacho. Local family owned. I like a place that you can walk thru the kitchen from the back parking lot to go into. They aren't hiding anything. Mexican food and basic grill food. Nothing fancy, just good basic food. A good place if one person wants Mexican food and another wants a burger. They also make milkshakes. Fairly clean, diner like atmosphere. Customer service is usually pretty great. A good basic place to eat in Bishop that you can get in and out of in a short period of time. Easy parking lot and street parking behind it. Prices are reasonable. I like the Mexican food here better than at Amigos which is next door to it. Menu is a bit tough if you are a strict vegetarian. read more

This is a great place for breakfast. I have not eaten here for any other meal. The Macha breakfast burrito is huge and rockin good. They have both a mild and hot salsa. The hot salsa is pretty hot. Stopped here fro lunch on our way through town. Great find!! We both had the Mexican style tacos. The El Pastor, carnitas and barbacoa were all excellent. Really great place to eat. We accidentally went through the back door, and walked to the kitchen but everyone was very friendly and just waved us through to the front. We were very promptly seated and food came quickly. They have fantastic chips and salsa that comes before the meal, and all the dishes are flavorful and satisfying. Ordered huevos rancheros without ham. Ham came inside the quesadilla. I pointed this out and was asked if I had ordered it correctly. I had. Order came back remade correctly. Delivered with a lingering stink eye look. Partially eaten hashbrowns had been put back on the grille! Nice touch but not so sanitary. Salsa was good. Bill at $15.66 was steep for breakfast and coffe. I'll try someplace else next time. read more
