Green Chile Cheese Burger - A person wearing a gray T-shirt is holding a burger with lettuce, cheese, and a beef patty in a bun. The plate in front contains a smaller burger, French fries, a slice of tomato, onion, and condiments including ketchup and mustard. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment.

We knew from the moment we arrived that we were in the right place. Wait staff were courteous and had a great sense of humor. We had the green chili cheese burger. Patties were hand formed. Potato's were fresh not frozen. If you're in Santa Fe and want an amazing meal, give this place a try. The atmosphere is totally New Mexico!

The food is fine, but you can do better. I tried a burger here years ago; it was OK but not worth the hype this place makes them out to be. You can find much better Green Chile cheeseburgers in town, such as Jambo Bite or Santa Fe Bite, and even The Ranch House up the street. So, during this visit with a group from the Santa Fe Foodies, I aimed to bypass a burger and go to New Mexican food. Three of us ordered the Enchilada Trio/Chrismas (red and green chile) with posole and Calabacitas as our sides. Everything was fine, and the food was good, but in Santa Fe, you can find vastly superior renditions of all of the above. Cafe Castro's up the street has much better red chile and enchiladas at about the same price. Or try Casa Bonita Restaurant on 2nd Street; vastly superior NM food. My wife had the Santa Fe Chicken sandwich; it was OK, too. The green chile on it was quite good. The fries could have been great since they are thick and have the skins on, but they were soggy. Had they been fried correctly, they could have been really great. Service was (like the food) OK, not the friendliest server, but efficient. In a town like Santa Fe, with exceptional New Mexican food and burgers, I can't recommend going out of your way to go here unless you're curious. It's fine, it's OK, it's nothing special IMHO. As readers can see, I'm concentrating my review on the subjective quality of the food, not its number of diners, which the owner seems to feel is more important than addressing a review of the food which is mediocre.

Top left is cheese enchiladas "Christmas style". Bottom right is Christmas style chile fries! - The collage features the exterior of El Milagro restaurant with signage indicating it serves authentic Northern New Mexican food. One image shows a close-up of a dish topped with melted cheese, green onions, and red sauce, likely enchiladas. Another photo displays the restaurant's interior wall art with vibrant murals and a logo. The images highlight the restaurant's focus on traditional Mexican cuisine and its decorative ambiance.

Authentic Northern New Mexican food in a charming casual atmosphere. I don't think they have vegan options but if you can handle dairy the cheese enchiladas are authentic and delicious. Northern NM is known for excellent red chile and this place didn't disappoint! I got my enchiladas "Christmas style" which means both red and green but if I went back I would just do red. Their green is good but the red is excellent. Got "Christmas style" chile fries as well. Without the cheese it may be vegan. I'm not sure and didn't ask! Fries were thick cut skin on and spicy! It would be really nice if they had more vegetarian options. Would have loved to have a green chile veggie burger but the enchiladas and fries were great!

the outside of a restaurant - The image depicts the storefront of El Milagro, a New Mexican restaurant, with large glass windows and a metal awning above the entrance. The sign displaying the restaurant's name is mounted on the building's facade, and an illuminated 'Open' sign is visible inside. Two benches are placed outside, and trees frame the scene, with a clear sky overhead.

Decided to try this restaurant since it was highly recommended by quite a few locals. Food is great, price reasonable and service is great. Tried the chicken nacho appetizer which was huge and a meal itself alone. Also, tried the 12 oz green chille cheeseburger and fries. The cheese burger is offered in different sizes and cooked perfectly, and the fries were fresh hand cut and excellent. Server was friendly and attentive. We got seated immediately for dinner and I noticed they close early at about 7pm. Will return to try something different.

a menu for burger specials - The menu features sections for burger specials, build-your-own burgers, and burger favorites. It lists various burger options with prices, ingredients, and toppings, including green chile cheeseburgers, signature burgers, and custom builds. Additional items include fries, salads, and side dishes, with prices and descriptions provided. The menu is printed on paper with bold headings and detailed descriptions of each item.

This is good stuff! Had the Frito Pie - best I have found in town. Will go back for the burger - as so many people have said it is the best in town.

A takeout meal features a burger topped with sliced avocado, red onion, and melted cheese, accompanied by sweet potato fries and a small cup of sauce. The burger bun is partially visible, and the fries are placed behind the burger. The meal is served in a white foam container, suitable for takeout or delivery.

Great burgers and service. Difficult to get a table at lunchtime but when you are seated the food is consistently good.

Now, the tamale oh my goodness I've never had such a moist tamale maybe the best tamale I've ever had. The pupusa was delicious and they didn't skimp on the cabbage salad. I expected something different with the beef stew. It was much thinner and Brosier than I expected, but it had an absolutely delicious flavor and plenty of meat. For my husband's meal, he ordered green chile enchiladas, smothered in their famous hatch green chile and melted cheese. The sauce had that perfect New Mexican balance -- flavorful, a little smoky, and with just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering the dish. I went with chicken tacos, served with Spanish rice and all the fresh toppings. The tacos were loaded with shredded chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa, and the rice on the side was fluffy and well seasoned. To drink, I tried a layered frozen margarita, which was as fun to look at as it was to drink -- icy, refreshing, and perfect for a sunny afternoon on the patio. My husband had a cold beer, it made for the ultimate Santa Fe lunch combo. Between the flavorful food, the relaxed patio atmosphere, and the classic New Mexican dishes done right, Tomasita's is one of those spots that reminds you why Santa Fe's food scene is so special. Not really sure what all the hype is about when there are definitely better spots to eat around Santa Fe. I ordered the carne adovada. The red chile sauce felt pretty one-note and the pork was on the tough side, which was disappointing given how popular the dish is there. Honestly, the chips and salsa were the highlight of the meal. The salsa definitely has some heat to it too . Overall, between the long wait and average food, it just didn't live up to the reputation.

That classic "Christmas style" combo that hits on every level. The masa was soft and flavorful (not dry like you get at some places), and the filling was generous and well-seasoned. We asked if it was OK we sat outside still with our dog and they said that was fine. They moved us to the other side of the pillar which we originally didn't mind but then quickly realized there's no lighting there. So we were eating dinner in a very dim lit area. After reading the reviews, we were excited to try the fish tacos, tamales, and fresh chips and salsa. Unfortunately, none of these really were superstar standouts for us. The blackened fish didn't have a ton of flavor. I found myself searching for a salsa that had a little bit of salt and flavor to spruce up the fish taco. I ate one of the three and my husband ate the remaining. The tamales tasted fresh and the ratio of protein to masa was great. We ate the tamale mostly without the mole sauce, which we didn't really care for. The salsa and chips that came out as an appetizer were fine. The salsas were different and flavorful. I wish that when they dropped off the different salsas (which they do on a rotation) they would have explained what each one was.
