The Adovada was spicy and tender. We had margaritas with our meal (this location has a liquor license and so they do use tequila), and we thought they were okay (though they were very reasonably priced). The staff were extremely nice, and the restaurant was a great mix of families, older diners, businesspeople, and visitors. We will likely come back. read more

Recommend: No Food: I ordered the chilaquiles, which come with Tortilla chips sautéed with chile, cheese, and onions. Served with two eggs, beans, pantry fries, and garnish. The chips were fresh and crunchy (they grab them out of a big tub that's under the register), they are doused with chile sauce and I think cheddar cheese. I asked for the eggs over hard and they came sunny side up. They had to remake them. The beans tasted as if they were from a can and the potato's were there. The entire plate was bland other than the chiles spicy was. My mom got the brisket tacos and she said they were dry and also lacked seasoning. She said the same about the beans. Service: They are extremely busy so service was slow. I never got a refill on my coffee and it took a while to get my check. We were not checked on throughout the visit and we were sitting at the counter which is literally across from the kitchen and wait staff continually passed us by. Ambiance: it reminded me of an old timey diner with the counter seating across from the kitchen. It is somewhat old but very busy. Be prepared for long wait times. First time eating chile relleno and an omelette together (sides: biscuit and pantry potatoes). It sounded a little weird to me at first, but I had to try it and it was so delicious! I asked for the spiciest salsa, and it did not disappoint. You should definitely try it! They also have other salsas that are less spicy. :) Everyone was friendly, and the place was clean. Great food every time we have been here. I got breakfast which was eggs, pan sausage and a pancake (instead of toast). You have to try the sopapias here -- they are famous for them. Attaching a picture of them. Some folks like honey, some powdered sugar and my niece likes butter and honey. You can tell they make them from scratch and they are huge. Hope you enjoy them. The Pantry is one of our favorite places when we r in Santa Fe. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is relaxed and homey. You might have to wait for a table, but it will be worth it. I had the green sauce on the side because not sure how hot it would be but realized it was just right. Others had chilaquiles, lindo scramble and the chorizo omelette, chicken fried steak and eggs. We shared the blue corn pancake as it was very large. Everyone liked what they had ordered. Service was attentive up to ordering after that the waitress never refreshed coffee and when someone at our table asked for a refresh it was done but she never asked if anyone else wanted some. This seems like a Santa Fe staple, and maybe I'm mistaken, but that is how it felt. It reminded me of other places I have been in other cities but none more than Ria's Bluebird in Atlanta. The similarities end there with the facade and interior as we are talking NM food versus Southern. What is similar is that both places were memorable and had great food. This place had options all over the place. Whatever you're in the mood for it was there. I went with a white egg scramble which was super. I loved the salsa it came with as well. This is a gem of a place that we were fortunate to be able to walk to from the nearby El Rey Court. Friendly but unobtrusive service, varied menu, and very comfortable interior. We decided to have the chicken fried steak and the San Franciscan sandwich. Both were delicious. The steak was done perfectly, you could cut it with a fork and there was a huge helping of gravy on top. It was practically hanging off the plate and was so flavorful. It was served with vegetables which were very good (although I had to draw the line somewhere because I was too full!) and I subbed fries for the mashed. The fries were so good in the gravy. The wife said the sandwich was great, it came out steaming hot on grilled sourdough with griddled turkey, bacon, and some kind of cheese. She said it could have used a touch of some aioli or mayo, but she easily could have had them bring some. It was a huge amount of food. You will not leave here hungry! Fantastic meal! read more

There is plenty of parking and it's a good thing - this place is popular! Upon entering, we were seated quickly at a four top table. A server approached us quickly and we ordered the SF Chicken Sandwich with Swiss cheese, green chilies (of course, in New Mexico you have to), avocado, chipotle mayo on sourdough with a side of curly fries and a pickle. The server brought our meal on two plates, which was very much appreciated. The sandwich was the best I have had in a long time. Amazing flavor!
