I ordered two veggie burritos, a piece of chocolate cake, and another piece of cake that I cannot remember the name. Both of the veggie burritos were different. One had nothing but mushrooms, and the other one had nothing but peppers. The tortilla was extremely soggy and tasted raw. I have never had such boring veggie burritos before and I didn't understand why only one vegetable was put into each burrito. The desserts were very basic and tasted a little bit old. I ordered a handheld breakfast burrito to go this morning: "bacon, green, light on the potatoes," I said. There were a lot of potatoes, but I guess "light" is subjective. The bacon was rubbery/fat. The bean and cheese burrito was good. I'll go back but will be more clear about the potato concentration, and not get the bacon. read more

Absolutely the worst restaurant meal that I have ever had! 1st, the margaritas were weak. A marg mix with very little tequila. Then the red and green chilis were not palatable, focus was not on quality but more on hot hot hot. Way too spicy for most people! I ordered what I thought was safe, a Santa Fe chicken wrap ( without the green chili) with french fries. The chicken in this wrap was bland, tasteless. A little seasoning while cooking would have been nice. The bacon was also tasteless like it was sitting around in a steam table all day. The lettuce was a wilted green blob that was disgusting. Then the fries were also tasteless, bland. A little seasoning would have helped. The best part of the meal was the Modelo beer and the waiter was nice Other restaurants that we called first had a 1 to 2 hour wait. Valentinas was able to seat us, no wait. Update 5/4/25: Yet another great meal and dining experience at Valentina's! I finally found the best Green Chile Cheeseburger in Santa Fe! The burger was perfectly cooked, the cheese was gooey-delicious, and the chile was abundant and hot. The meat was clearly high quality and was seasoned to perfection. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her carne adovada enchiladas, as well. The sopapillas are always spot-on. And the service was outstanding. Everybody was super friendly and attentive. Could not have been a more pleasant experience. Last night reaffirmed our belief that Valentinas is the best unpretentious, non-tourist trap restaurant in Santa Fe. Staff was friendly. The guacamole and chips were really tasty. I had the chili rellenos with green chili which if I go again, I'd try the red, the green chili overtook the flavor of the rellenos. My friend had a steak hand held burrito that she rated just okay, she would choose something else next time. The margaritas were large and were okay, nothing special about them. read more

Valentina's used to be one of our favorite places in Santa Fe. This morning, my husband went to pick up two breakfast burritos. They charged him $16 for each burrito. A hand-held burrito is $8, and a smothered burrito is $16. My husband told them it didn't make sense, as they just added a bit more chili. The lady called him a pendejo (stupid). The burritos also maybe had one egg and were mostly potatoes. We will longer eat at Valentin's if they feel they can dispesect the patrons! read more

This charming mom and pop restaurant has personality, amazing food, and speedy service. We were a little skeptical walking into the restaurant but was pleasantly surprised with the dishes that are served. The enchiladas de mole roja were our favorite. First time we ate there, we enjoyed it but the second time, our food was highly seasoned or too spicy to eat and everything was so mixed that food was a jumble on the plate. They were out of the wine as wait person said "they were out of glasses".... but her English was very limited so perhaps she meant something else? We were a party of 8 and the staff seated us with no wait on a Friday night. The food was amazing with huge potions (beware of the green Chile sauce if you're not used to a lot of heat). Everything was so good Friday night that we came back for breakfast Saturday morning. Again, huge portions and everything tasted great. Beans and rice meh. What killed it was the crappy service. Waiter looked annoyed when asking questions, brought the food and never came back, not once. The charm of this family owned, hole-in-the-wall cafe in the very old Solano Center on W. Alameda Street across the street from the Santa Fe River is quite as pleasant as it is unique. They serve hot sopapillas in the morning, which is a rarity in Santa Fe. The New Mexican breakfast selections are flavorful, and you get plenty of food. When the waitress or waiter asks if you want red or green, I suggest you reply with "Christmas." There is a flame-broiled green chili cheeseburger on the lunch and dinner menu. I cannot begin to tell you when I've had a better burger. The quality of the meat and the cooking process made for one of the best burgers I've ever had, and I grew up in the restaurant business myself so my standards are pretty high. they serve beer and wine. The Tecate beer is ice cold served in a frosted and salted beer mug. There's some interesting artwork on the wall. My favorite is in the main dining room near the kitchen. It's some sort of blue colored, tequila biker themed painting. I guarantee you will enjoy Valentina's for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you're a guy and there during the day, you can get a sharp looking haircut two doors down at one of the BEST old fashioned and historic barbershops in Santa Fe. Ask for Ryan, Megan, or Armando. There is also a Chinese massage/reflexology place next door. Massage therapist Tom is really knowledgeable and knows his work. Hmmm. It sounds like I'm now doing 2 new reviews. Lol . Awesome place! We are at three different restaurants in Santa Fe - this place, Tomasita's, and Choza. This place was our favorite! Food was better, zero wait time to get a table, and cheaper! The sopapilla stuffed with chicharron was heaven: chewy crispy bits, very flavorful, and authentic flavor. The sopapilla stuffed with desebrada was equally awesome. Speaking of sopapillas, theirs were great. Just the right amount of chew and balanced crispiness. Red and green were both really nice - pretty spicy. Definitely recommend! read more

Nom Nom! This is now officially my new favorite New Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe. Very good food and everything is made to order. This is the sister restaurant of El Comal, but I think it's better. First, the staff is always friendly. Hands down best chile rellenos in town, green-red-or Christmas and this is from being in town for 5 years!!! I find that their chiles are very spicey, like XX - XXX range which is how I like them. The sides are very good + sopapillas. My wife tends to experiment with different dishes from Valentina's yet I believe the shrimp burrito is her new fave. Beer is available, Negra Modela is good with the rellenos. Another benefit is if you want take out and call in orders the time of arrival for pick up is very accurate and your food is hot. read more

Although the food was alright given the prices, I wouldn't come back here. Everything was a lot more spicy than I thought it would be. There was only one type of margarita and it was 90% ice and way too sweet - couldn't even taste the tequila and my stomach ended up hurting afterward. On the plus side, the portion sizes were huge. I ordered the red and green adovado burrito and my friend got a stuffed beef and bean sopapilla. Everything was very tasty and the service was quick and friendly. There was also a big bottle of honey on the table for the sopapilla on the side! I know that is the norm in New Mexico but not for me (from California). There is no pretentiousness here, only authenticity. Located in a small strip plaza, it might be easy to miss but you sure don't want to. The inside is casual, with simple tables and some art (for sale) on the walls. But the menu is impressive, and the food, even more! We wanted good enchiladas, fresh, authentic flavors and a good portion because we were hungry, and we got it all, and with great service. As soon as we sat we had waters, and time enough to decide what to order. I went with the Chicken and Guacamole Enchilada, and asked for the green chile sauce on the side. The dish came with rice, (whole or refried) beans, a bit of salad and pozole corn. The dish was big, flavorful, and Instagram pic worthy. Oh! And on top of that you could choose between a tortilla or a sopaipilla. I ordered the later and am SO glad that was my last day in Santa Fe, if not I would have been going back to have this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Imagine a perfectly dough "cloud", warm and soft with butter and honey... in one bite you are 100% addicted. Hands down one of the best meals during our trip. They also created a dish with 3 different menu items for my boyfriend as he wanted a tamale, and enchilada and a chile relleno. Plus rice and beans on the side. Instead of bringing each thing separately they presented it all in one plate, nicely as if it was part of the menu. Their sangrias and margaritas are also big in size, they have vegetarian options too, and prices are very reasonable. It's just like a little family owned New Mexican style diner/tiny cafe with scratch made food & YUGE tortillas/sopaipillas. I found this place bc I was shopping next door at the Natural Grocery store & have been coming here ever since. Especially for a good hangover cure lol They have some amazing chili, just add it to anything & your good. I haven't had one bad thing here so far. :)' The green chili cheese burger is fantastic, so is the shrimp tacos & shrimp burrito, the chicken burrito is YUGE! Filled with tender juicy chicken! YESSSS Def my fave so far! I also get my chili to go from here. They make the best green chili & will sell you a quart or half gallon if you ask, red, green or both. You can get anything you like to go, dine in or take out. The other fantastic thing about this place is they have a giant parking lot so parking is easy breezy. Classic local "hole-in-the-wall" that is #1 for me. Love the ground beef taco plate. Salsa and chips are very good. The Sopapillas are as good as any other place in Santa Fe. It's does have a small dining area so lunch hour can slow things down but service has always been friendly. Definitely my recommendation if you want to skip the typical tourist restaurants the are found in Santa Fe. read more

YES YES YES!!! Visiting the area for a few weeks and this has been by far the best mexican food my husband and I have found in Santa Fe! As far as local comparison, family took us to La Choza and Tomacito's. I'd say these two places have a nicer ambience, but we we both totally prefered the food at Valentinas! My husband & I shared a combo tamale plate, christmas style. 10/10, would order tamales from here again! Delicious! I wanted a warm sopapilla with honey for desert and this place did NOT disappoint! OMG it was SO good! At the other 2 places, the sopapillas were thin and served warm, but not warm enough to melt butter. Here, the sophapillas came out thick, fresh, and hot! We will be back in the area again in Feb with friends and now know to head straight here. lol read more

I really wanted to like this place but...I ordered the juevos rancheros Christmas and the green chili was very good, red not so much. I paid $14.95, a lot for 2 eggs; they were very stingy with the beans, cheese and potatoes. I think those are relatively cheap items but the portions were measly. Won't go there again. Will go to Tomasita's or Tia Sophia's where they serve ample portions. read more
