We had the seasonal citrus salad, Chile Relleno, El Salvadorian combo plate with a pupusa and a banana leaf tamale and a cup of beef green chili stew. Oh also a prickly pear margarita. The chili was excellent came with a large side of rice and beans, lettuce, pico sour cream guacamole was absolutely delicious. Same as the salad I replaced the blue cheese with goat cheese and it was excellent. The dressing was so good and the fruit fresh. The margarita, perfect not too sweet not artificial tasting at all. Now, the tamale oh my goodness I've never had such a moist tamale maybe the best tamale I've ever had. The pupusa was delicious and they didn't skimp on the cabbage salad. I expected something different with the beef stew. It was much thinner and Brosier than I expected, but it had an absolutely delicious flavor and plenty of meat. Service was efficient although not particularly helpful. There is a printed menu for lunch but only a high chalkboard menu for dinner, making it difficult to read. The server also failed to tell us that we could order only off of the one menu that fit the exact time of our visit, which happened to coincide with the time that they switch from offering lunch to the time they serve dinner. The cheeseburger was very tasty. The grilled salmon tacos were good but served with flavorless beans and bland rice. We got a watermelon juice to share. It was nice - I wish more watermelons were as sweet as this juice and it came with free refills. The vanilla latte was not great. At all. All you got was a burnt flavor and it (the hot latte) came in a glass. Why? The service was friendly. Lots of smiles. I ordered the Irish oatmeal for my daughter. Every spot you visit in New Mexico has its own unique take on chili, and the flavors are always distinct. Breakfast here was definitely different from anything we've tried before in Santa Fe. The prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious. We sat out on the patio, soaking up the warm sun and enjoying the fragrant aromas of blooming flowers. You place your order, take a number, and choose your own seating. The coffee was excellent--bold and strong enough to awaken your senses. We had the smothered chorizo burrito and the huevos Salvadoran style--both were packed with flavor and left us completely satisfied. The burrito stuffed with homemade chorizo and the moisture of red and green chile definitely hit the spot. The saldadorean style breakfast really paired the scrambled egg well with the beans and the friend plantain for sweetness. Reminder me of a home cooked meal that I would get at my in-laws on a Sunday morning accompanied by tortillas. The downfall is I only got 1 tortilla with my meal but despite that I still enjoyed every bite. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the casual ordering system made everything feel relaxed and easy. GREAT experience! We for there earlier (5pm), by the time we left it was filling up fast. The lime chicken tortilla soup was a delicious start. Fresh salad ingredients with just the right amount of dressing. The MOLÉ...oh my goodness top notch flavor, texture and so much melty, yummy cheese on the enchiladas. The grilled banana was a different and delicious addition to the dish. Our server was fantastic as was the rest of the staff. We left beyond happy and satisfied. Give them your money! Recently revisited this spot a few times and am feeling a bit conflicted. They've overcharged by $1 each time--not the biggest deal but it's a pet peeve of mine: if menu prices have changed, then please update the menu! It's misleading to suddenly have the price change and they don't give an itemized receipt here. The tres leches cake was huge but the top layer of the cake was very dry. The pupusas were delicious; I wasn't a fan of the curtido though because it was quite dry and very heavy on the herbs (oregano?). Green chile beef stew was alright but nothing special. Coconut cream pie was tasty--huge amount of whipped cream but a much thinner layer of coconut pudding; I would've loved a bit more of the coconut layer! Had a bit of a fridge taste though. Blueberry lemon cake was quite good! Nice fluffy cake, lots of cream frosting but not too sweet. I do like that it's counter service and their hours are good. read more

Yes, yes, a hundred times YES! Do not miss this stop while in Santa Fe. It's nestled in a neighborhood and has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. They have standard menu items for breakfast and lunch and some dishes with Nee Mexico and El Salvadoran flare. You walk-up to order inside and then choose your seat. They will deliver to your table. It was a crisp sunny day, so we ordered two Mexican cokes and took time to peruse the menu and specialties while seated in the outdoor patio. We stopped in around brunch time and ordered a little bit of everything. I have a lighter palate and ordered all sauces on the side, but the heat wasn't bad at all, so I recommend you keep all smothered meals smothered! I ordered a basic bacon, egg, potato, and cheese burrito with avocado because I needed some eggs. The tortilla was homemade and wow... gigantic burrito! We tried their chili relleno, banana leaf wrapped chicken tamale, and steak pupusa. You can order most of these items al la carte if you don't want a full plate. It was all delicious, but the papusa was by far our favorite!! The pupusa had great flavor and the perfect crunch to it. We ended the meal with a fried banana that had a dollop of sour cream sauce on it. The serving sizes are generous, so we did not finish the food, but wow, every bite we did have was well worth it! This (the pupusas) was a flavor I had never tasted before and I'm so glad I did. These were absolutely unique and terrific. It was my first time in New Mexico and my uncle had suggested I check this out for lunch. Delicious food, great price. Went for dessert only: - lemon blueberry cake: flavor was really nice but the cake texture was a little off because the filing is very moist. If you like tees leches cake this might do it for you, that's how wet it was. Despite this, I loved the flavors of everything including the cream topping, would get it again! - coconut cream pie: my original very critical review of this pie needed to be edited...I ate the rest of it later when it wasn't AS cold and it tasted better. I think it's kind of like ice cream, it needs to soften up a bit to appreciate the flavors/textures. Original critique remains: too much cream, not enough coconut filling. Coconut filling could be more coconutty, it's lovely but def subtle. The crust edge is wonderfully crisp, almost like a shortbread. I was too hard on this pie and glad I didn't throw it away. Other thoughts: - hard to know what any dessert is without asking, no signage - every pie had about 4x cream and very little filling. Service is friendly but slow. Food is served cold, only one person with an appetizer had a hot pupusa. The fish tacos were ice cold. I had the Salvadoran combo which was cold. My pupusa was this very small as compared to the two people at my table who ordered it as an appetizer. In fact, the tamale was also on the smaller side. I understand things are tight, but when you're paying $18 for an entrée, you should get at least a decent portion. Having it hot goes without saying. We are so reluctant to send food back or even say anything at this point, we just ate it. Unfortunately, I did get very ill when I got home. I hopefully they'll read this and think about how to improve serving hot food and making sure that the portions are equal. read more

Tried a little more of the menu for lunch. The salmon tacos were amazing. The salsa verde just took it to another flavor level. We also ordered a Reuben from the "specials" board by the register. The only knock on our Reuben was that the pastrami wasn't sliced across the grain, but with the grain, which made it chewy. But the flavors were on point for the sandwich. Nice restaurant with a lot of locals. The food is consistently good and it's been one of our go-to places for a few years now. The chicken picatta and pizza is our usual. And you can always count on the dessert case to be a special treat. Stop by for dessert and an coffee, they are usually open late! My friend and I were on a roadtrip and I had found this place via yelp for a low key lunch. We came in and the place is very unassuming. You stand in line to order and then find a seat, and they'll bring you your food. I ordered a cup of the green Chile stew which was fine, and the lamb tacos, which were delicious (as were the rice and beans - totally simple, but amazing). My friend ordered the tofu mole enchiladas. I'm not a tofu person, but she suggested I try the mole, and holy mother of god! The mole was the best mole I've ever had. I repeat, I'm not a tofu person, but I regretted my order (albeit it was rather delicious) immediately, and wanted to order a jar of mole to go! Tune-Up Cafe is one of my favorite Santa Fe restaurants - creative, affordable, and delicious. For this visit, we both went with burgers. My lamb burger was fantastic - cooked perfectly, and the manchego and sauteed mushrooms I chose to top it with combined beautifully. My husband had the classic Tune-Up burger, topped with manchego and green chile. Tune-Up gets a lot of tourists, so the chile was really mild; my husband described the heat level as "Canadian."
