The staff were friendly and engaging. Menu seems a little limited but it has all the classics. The red and green sauce was on the mild side but nice flavor. The beef tacos my wife ordered were full to the top with beef instead of lettuce that you find at most other places. Over all we thought it was fresh tasting and worth a repeat visit when in the area at the right time. We gave it a solid 4 stars losing 1 because of a service charge on using a CC and felt it was already few bucks pricer than our #1 spot. read more

Family-run, very welcoming, accessible, and down-to-earth place. First time there I had a light lunch and didn't stay long, but I recently re-visited with a companion for lunch and we left happy and sated, with leftovers for later. The standout item on the New Mexican food front is the red chile -- get it on anything you order. Both the red and green are from Hatch, which means high quality chile, but the way they prepare the red is truly special. It lit up my special burrito, steak fajitas, which came with lots of melted cheese and a large scoop of guacamole on top. The guac is a standard accompaniment for fajitas, but it didn't go especially well with the burrito format, though it was quite tasty on its own (though it could have used a little more onion and a little more kick). The steak was plentiful, tender, and moist without being fatty, and the green and red peppers and the onions in the filling were just the right proportion. The cheese was a little overdone, but delicious. My companion said her cheese and onion enchilada on her combo plate (the Pecos) was also a bit too cheesy, but she absolutely loved the tamale and devoured it in what seemed like seconds. She had nothing to save for later, but I took fully half the burrito home and enjoyed it for another meal the next day. We'll be back! read more

Great find! We visited for lunch after an appointment at CSV. Pecos Trail Cafe was very close, so we decided to try it. Even after prime lunch time the place was moderately busy. We were greeted promptly and seated. Throughout our experience the staff were all very friendly and polite! My wife had the Frito Pie and I had the Las Vegas special. Both were excellent. This is Mexican and a bit of New Mexican; the former offers a bit more unusual options, such as the Cazule De Marisco's, which I tried. It is like a fish stew with scallops, salmon, and shrimp in a somewhat spicy broth. Very good, I've never had anything like it in town. My wife had the special, which was a shrimp Fajita Burrito Christmas. The chile was nice, but not the best in class (the red was a bit bland compared to others in town). The green had nice heat. We had the Flan for dessert, and it was outstanding! One of the best I've tried in town. Many restaurants here offer Flan, and it is often disappointing, but this version was delicious, with great texture and flavor. I highly recommend you try the Flan if you like this dessert. I had a pretty good exerience here at this restaurant which I had eaten at years ago. Staff was friendly and I got seated immediately. I ordered the ground beef stuffed sopapilla smothered with green chille and cheese which came with an additional sopapilla and honey. Overall, the stuffed sopapilla was good, but was lacking seasoning in the ground beef (tasted like just cooked ground beef with nothing added). The sopapilla was great. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted in a friendly special manner and told to sit where we would like to sit, and we found a nice booth by a window. The gentleman who served us was warm and friendly, and we got our meal very promptly. The food was delicious and prepared in a lovely manner. The only downside was not the fault of the restaurant. A group of people had a small child that was whining and then screaming much of the meal. I know little ones can't help it sometimes but it spoiled some of our experience. Let's start by saying...AMAZING! It's been several years since I've been here, because, well, the food was just alright, not bad but, in a city that majors on restaurants, you have to do something to stand above the rest. Very good food, service, and a nice location away from the fray but still easy to access. They had a bacon chile burger here a few years back that was an absolute beauty of a beast. Hope they bring that back. But there are plenty of other amazing things on the menu to enjoy, from authentic Mexican seafood to New Mexican delights. The restaurant was convenient for one of the nights we were staying across the way. We ordered before closing time and went to pick it up. The employees were very nice. Unfortunately, when we took our food back to the hotel to eat, one of our orders was wrong. We had ordered grilled shrimp salad. All the shrimps were cold and had the tail on still. I don't think it was worth the price. I didn't call back because they were closed. The cocktail shrimp was very tasty and delicious but could have added more shrimp. Customer Service was good. The price for the food was a little pricey but that's the price you pay for convenience. If you are picking up an order just make sure to check it before walking out the restaurant. read more

Decided to eat here because we were staying at the motel next door. The food came out to us warm, not hot. It tasted good, but not as good as some of the other places we have eaten during our visit. The staff was friendly, but the service was not great. We had to wait for a while after being seated before someone came by to take drink orders, and no one checked up on us during our meal. Also, we were overcharged for some of our meals by a few dollars over what the menu price stated. I would not recommend this place or eat here again based on this experience. read more

After a wonderful visit to the International Folk Art museum, Joe and I were looking for a late lunch. Not knowing where to go, we just set off for Albuquerque and saw this on the way. We pulled in and parked. I was less-than-enthusiastic, given the outside of the building. Inside, we were warmly greeted and asked if we preferred a booth or a table. Opting for a table, we were seated on the far side of the restaurant. It gave me a good view of the restaurant. The ceiling looked like corrugated metal, covered with what looks like stucco. In the center, there are a few booths with walls connected to a beam. The short walls look like driveway gates (maybe they were.) So, not the most architectually interesting place, but clean and pleasant. Joe ordered the flautas, with just rice, no beans. The flautas were perfectly cooked. It came with a delicious guacamole. (I got to eat it, since Joe is not a fan.) He ate everything on his plate. He did, however, ask for a bit of salsa to go with it. I asked for the chiles rellenos plate. The chiles were stuffed with cheese and had a cornmeal breading. They were delicious. The beans were just ok. I tasted a little of the rice, but it didn't do anything for me. Our waiter was pleasant, switching back and forth between English for Joe and Spanish with me. When we paid, we discussed the heat in Palm Springs. His experience in my part of the world was tough! When we got there we were the only people there, which felt strange, their service was lacking despite being the only customers. When we finally ordered we had to buy chips and salsa and they portion was less than satisfactory. The food was fine but definitely nothing special. The sopaipillas were stale and old, and the beans and rice were not great. Everything else tasted good but again nothing special. It is also attached to some strange fenced sketchy motel.
