July 22nd 2024 walked a few blocks from the plaza Eastward to the Palacio Cafe. Very busy place at lunch Wife had a $16.64 chicken enchilada with corn tortilla. Two corn tortillas with chicken cheddar cheese onions topped with red chili sauce just the way she likes it hot and spicy. I had the $13 Rubin sandwich it comes on marble rye bread thousand Island dressing Swiss cheese corned beef and sauerkraut. Wife would normally order this but has an aversion to sauerkraut I would usually not order this as not fond of marble rye bread. However the corned beef was juicy tender and so outstanding the best reuben sandwich I have ever tasted so good that I overlooked the marble rye bread. The heat and flavor was perfect, which I think is due to the slow cooked chiles they do. The building is quaint and in a nice part of town, with plenty of on-street parking. My wife and I were visiting A friends studio in Santa Fe 4/18/26 we fortunately stumbled upon Palacio's Cafe. and took the table out front. When we ordered drinks the waiter politely informed that they weren't allowed to serve alcohol in the front but then directed us to a cute patio in the back. we felt very comfortable there with our dog. We ordered and my wife ordered a cup of Pozole with her meal not knowing that they give you a dryer version of this with the plates. The food and drinks were fantastic right down to the chips and salsa. Simlpe south west cuisine with flavors that are authentic and made with love. The menu is not extensive but you could through a dart at it and be more then happy with anything you hit. We were in Santa Fe for two days and ate at Palacio's both of them.
