Cafecito. I want to love you so, so badly. But the love remains unrequited after this lunch experience. Went with a friend last week. Ordered the trout. I was expecting a savory dish, but it had a weird sweetness to it; maybe the tarragon? Maybe it's just me. The fish came out as a "fish" it mostly unprocessed, bones and all, maybe it still had its eyes. It was stuffed with a filling but the taste was not agreeable to me. It wasn't awful, just not good. I didn't finish it. Service: painfully slow. We sat at a table in the middle of the indoors room, but s-l-o-w. Mate kit: c'mon on now! For an Argentine restaurant you can do much better. First time they brought me the mate kit, but the bombilla (straw) had no filter. That means you drink the mate and you end up with leaves in your mouth and teeth. Not a good feeling. I asked for an additional bombilla, the server brought a very short bombilla. Hard to use. I have never seen or used such a short bombilla. I gave up. Nice ambience. Feels like an urban garden-café. The food is definitely good. The location is very nice, charming even. Despite the restaurant being only a quarter full and there seeming to be a lot of staff, the service was slow. Polite, but slow. When my omelette arrived, it was delicious but lukewarm. They were also out of several items, which happens, but it would have been nice to be informed of this before spending time with the menu. My first visit here was amazing! I was visiting for house hunting and was told to visit this wonderful gem of a place. The panquques are delicious and so are the empanadas! Cannot go wrong with any of them! (Though I do have my favorites ) Our server was a wonderful lady as well! Came with my S/O of course too, and we were so pleased to see that it's such an inviting atmosphere that's also dog friendly. Like seriously even if you're going out it alone, we all deserve a beautiful meal every once in a while. I came to Cafecito solo before a work event. I don't spend much time in Santa Fe. You know how it is living in Albuquerque even though it's pretty close it's not always top of mind. Anyways, I've been through Cafecito before, but never for a full meal. One perk of coming somewhere alone is it's often much easier to get a seat. Anyways, I sat down and just enjoyed the environment. It's very open and filled with life. I ordered the Argentine Way with a croissant and the skirt steak, as well as both the jam and the dulce de Leche. It was such a beautiful meal and so simple. September 5, 2025 is my first visit to this loveliest establishment. I'm in Santa Fe visiting family. My Google search for breakfast places near me brought me here. There is good parking nearby. Some in their parking lot and some on the street. If you haven't been here before, the streets wind around a little bit and you may feel like you're lost but stay with your GPS and keep your eyes open. Excellent building design with big windows and nice natural light. Seating is both inside and outside. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I came at midmorning, so there was no wait to have breakfast. I chose the empanada and will say I was very impressed. The pastry is thin and delicate, and the inside is packed with a mixture of meats, potatoes and eggs. The chimichurri sauce is a welcome addition to this lovely food. It was very fun to have a little salad on the plate for breakfast! The orange juice was refreshing and delicious and I really like their coffee. Prices are very good. read more

I typically don't write reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience at Cafecito. While the food is good, the coffee is great, and the setting is lovely, my visit was significantly impacted by waitstaff who made the experience frustrating. After lunch, I ordered a dessert, waitstaff brought the wrong one. I informed the staff that it wasn't what I had ordered, yet they didn't bother to ask for my original order. A few minutes later, another staff brought the same incorrect dessert. Again, I made it clear--in Spanish--that this was not my order. Still, there was no follow-up to clarify my request. I waited an additional ten minutes without receiving my dessert. Then the same waitstaff asked if I needed anything, I pointed to the empty space in front of me, indicating that my dessert was still missing. Despite my evident frustration, his reply was, "I was not your waitstaff who took your order, so don't talk to me using that tone" Once again, no one sought to clarify what dessert I had order. Eventually, the waitstaff who initially took my order returned and insisted they had brought what I ordered. I reiterated that I did not order the chocolate torte; I had ordered the espresso mousse. She apologized, stating she thought I had said chocolate torte. The other three people at our table confirmed my order was indeed the espresso mousse. She said she would bring out the correct dessert immediately, but at that point, I simply wanted the check and to leave. read more

This was the highlight of our trip to Santa Fe!! It's a beautiful modern space, super clean, and comfortable! The staff were all incredibly friendly! We tried 5 of the variety of empanadas. Hubs had the Gaucho Breakfast- amazing tender steak, and the quince jam really added a great flavor. I had the crepes with bananas and dulce de leche. it was soooo good! We arrived about 1130am on Sunday and the business was jumpin'! Our server, Rayna, took our order for drinks promptly and delivered our crème de leche, butter and breads (croissant and focaccia was buttery goodness, glutenized), coffees and a green drink. She took our order for a Argentinian Steak Salad, a breakfast empanadas, Lomito Completo, and an order of Gramajo Revuelto. All were so flavorful, cooked perfectly, and presented in a manner which was appetizing (the Gramajo Revuelto is a bit of melty, spicy, green mess.) Rayna and the rest of the service staff didn't miss a beat. Our party bought a couple of jars of Dulce de Leche to take home so we could try and recreate the experience (good luck!) This is a fabulous Argentine coffee shop in the art district of Santa Fe. We always visit here on our annual trip. I love the atmosphere, with comfy seating, loads of plants, and sunlight streaming into the place. Good gluten free options for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. Such a hidden gem! Heading out to Santa Fe for lunch with my GF was well worth the trip. We arrived separately and I was seated in a sunny part of the restaurant. Tea was just what we needed to warm up. I later ordered the avocado toast. My egg was cooked as I liked it ...hard scrambled. My plate arrived with a beautiful green salad on the side which complemented my avocado toast. Perfect meal for lunch. Located off the main road by some apartments, this restaurant is a hidden treasure. We met both owners during our visit, and from the moment we walked in, we felt very welcome and attended to. It was pretty busy on a Tuesday around 2pm, but only had to wait about 3 minutes for a table. We each started with a coffee, a mocha and a dulce de leche latte. The espresso was pretty dark, but was mellowed out by the sweetness of the caramel and chocolate. I got the Locro, the winter special. It was a hearty stew with white beans, pork rib, and sausage, served with some nice, fluffy bread. It was a comforting food, which was lovely for a chilly winter day. Good overall, but not my favorite. The star of the meal was the chimichurri sauce that came with my husband's breakfast empanada. SO delicious. I actually added some of it on top of my stew and it took it from ok to delicious. We ended the meal with the panqueque con dulce de leche which was basically a crepe filled with banana and fruit and caramel. The taste was delicious, but too much caramel for both our liking. We stopped here during the new year and really enjoyed the experience. It's a beautiful cafe with lots of glass windows, high ceiling, and plants - perfect ambiance for rainy days. They also have an extensive patio space which would be great on a sunny day. Would recommend arriving earlier if you can - we got there around 1pm and quite a few items were sold out but we still enjoyed what we ate which included their soup, empanadas, and chicken. The lattes hit all the right notes and our waitress was really nice. They were quite busy but managed to get our food out without too much wait. The chai latte was good - it did have ginger in it so if you're not a ginger fan, I would recommend not getting it. The empanadas were amazing - can't recommend the Humita empanada enough. Ok folks, it has been a minute! Honestly...way more than that, but I just have to give these people a shout-out! We picked this little out of the way cafe on a whim because we were here for Balloon Fiesta and most places were booked! So--On to the good part!!! Food: Argentinian food meets Santa Fe! We were a party of six. We visited there about 11AM MDT. The group ordered: An Omelet, 3 Avocado toasts, The Gaucho, and the Panino Sandwich. We also ordered some of their Empanadas, since it was technically still breakfast/brunch time. The empanadas the group tasted were the Three Sisters, the Santa Fe, and a Carne Asada. All were reported to be delicious!!!! I ordered the Panino sandwich and a Santa Fe empanada, so I'll talk about that. (Everyone loved their food BTW, but I can only directly speak to what I ordered.) The Panino was a "ham and cheese sandwich" but elevated to heavenly status! Fresh, toasted Focaccia loaded with a generous serving of ham, burrata cheese, balsamic and oil and garlic aioli. This was served with a side of arugula salad on the plate with balsamic and vinegar dressing. Incredibly fresh and incredibly tasty! The Santa Fe empanada was a small pastry shell filled with shredded green chili chicken filling served with a side of chimichurri sauce. Again: delightfully delicious! Everyone else raves about their dishes. So... Service: We were seated promptly, outdoors as we requested. The weather was spectacular and so it was beautiful. The food came promptly--it was hot and very fresh. (I did have to remind the waitress to get my Panino from the kitchen, but that was easy to overlook once I tasted it.). Tip was already included , probably because we were a party of 6. So just be aware. Ambiance: Cute restaurant with a tiny kitchen. Smallish indoors for seating capacity, but they have a lot of outdoor seating. Modern style. The one we visited was in The Rail Yard. Hard to get to but oh so worth it!!! Value: We spent $65 with tip for 2 people with two main dishes and 2 empanadas. We drank water. Felt like a good value for the quality and quantity. Stopped here right when we arrived in Santa Fe for lunch. I had to Yelp it and go based off reviews for lunch as we were picking in the dark. Soooo happy with our choice. Each bite of my sandwich tasted better than the one prior. I could tell that thought went into each ingredient in each meal we had. Because of course I had to try them all lol. The hibiscus tea and lavender lemonade were top notch. Please note they are not overly sweet and truly let the ingredients shine. Did that sound cliche? Maybe. But I mean it. I never had lions mane before but I loved all mushrooms, and this one does not disappoint. It's so flavorful but it's mostly the natural savory taste of the mushroom. Very special! If you order the empanadas flights (which comes with a soup or salad), I would recommend trying the soup. The soup base is tomato purée with a mixture of vinegar and garlic flavor. It sounds very weird at first, but it has a surprisingly fun flavor. Kinda refreshing, which makes it a good pairing to the empanadas. My mom, my 9y/o, and I stopped in on a recent vacation and Cafecito was absolutely delightful. My mom treated herself to a dulce de leche latte and loved it. I don't recall what she ordered but I ate some of it and it is pictured with the salad. I got a vegan empanada that hit the spot, but I probably would have ordered 2 or 3 if I didn't share some of mom's meal. The ambience of this place is amazing! I love the plant-filled space drenched with light, designed by Opuntia, the previous cafe owners. The empanadas and fries are also incredibly delicious. Service is sweet, though at times super slow. Sadly, any time I have tried to order anything else off the menu I am disappointed. The salad is always wilted and the sandwiches are meh, definitely not worth the money. The focaccia was stale and lentil soup tastes old.
