Food, service wonderful...loved the sopapillas! Try it when in town.....lowkey great food

Santa Fe Wrap - It's was alright, chicken was moist, ingredients were fresh. Green Chi-lie Stuffed Sopopillas we're quite good! I've had better guacamole, but the blended flavors were lovely. read more

Such a great find! Knew it was authentic from the smell when I walked in, and the food did not disappoint. Staff was super friendly, quick, and helpful. Ordered the adobada combo plate with sopapillas as recommended by my waitress. Awesome taste, perfect spice level! read more

El Comal - Mexican Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

My husband and I both ordered the combination plate with sopapaillas for lunch. We were given a choice of red or green chile sauce and requested the red on the side. We have found some of the food in New Mexico to be too spicy, and the red chile sauce was no exception. We ate our meal without sauce. Everything was tasty! The sopapaillas were a little thicker/more dense than at other places, but still yummy. Service was excellent. Our server seemed authentically friendly and happy. The restaurant itself was clean with casual diner vibes. read more

Wow, this place is good. The first night I ordered the Carne avatar and it was fantastic. The meat was tinder, red chili sauce was spot on. The second time I had the the combination plater with green chili. Great food and the sopapia was the size of my head. Mmmmmm good. I can't stop sweating. read more

The service was superb , the food was excellent and the staff were the friendliest that we have had on our trip so far. Great place!!!

Found this cafe when our destination restaurant was closed. We do not live in Santa Fe but will make a point of returning to El Comal as often as possible. The small location is in a strip mall on the westside of Cerrillos Road. The food was OUTSTANDING (especially the sopapillas). Our group had chile eaters and no chile eaters, everyone enjoyed their meal. Everyone left with a doggy bag. If sopapillas had any type of holding time, we would have added a dozen to go. Prices were very reasonable. Beer & wine available. read more

Casual southwest ambiance, friendly service staff, but web menu bears little resemblance to what the restaurant currently offers. For example, no catfish, no plates for 2 or 4. Maybe new owners? Expect better than standard Mexican fare at standard prices. read more

Really impressive, especially for such a small place. The food was all perfect. The margaritas, made with agave wine instead of tequila are really tasty, more mellow than your standard overly-tart margarita. Really hope to come back. read more

Wonderful food with great service and fair prices. Would definitely go back. We love spice, and I would say this was at the upper end of our tolerance spectrum. :-) Very enjoyable, and having the soap appear with honey as part of the meal was an added treat. read more

El Comal - Adovada Stuffed Sopapilla with Christmas Chili - Mexican Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Tried El Comal from other's reviews and we were not disappointed. I had the bean and beef stuffed sopapillas with green chili and it was delicious. My husband had chicken enchiladas he said were some of the best ever. The spicy salsa with chips was great as well as the sopapillas with honey for dessert. The portions are large, but we ate it all, then skipped dinner and breakfast the next day! You have it look for El Comal, in the back of a nondescript strip shopping center, but it's worth it. read more

I've waited 8 years to get back to Santa Fe for some sopaipillas. This restaurant is next door to our hotel and the Yelp reviews were spot on. Nothing fancy to look at, but service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. Vegetarian options for the kiddo, some outdoor seating and we all left stuffed and happy. Delish!!! read more

The hotel recommended El Comal. After reading the reviews we thought we would give it a try. Mom had the tamale plate with red Chile and I had the chicken enchiladas with green chile. Both of us thought the food was wonderful. The service was quick and our drinks never got low. If you judge the place by how small it looks from the outside you will definitely miss out! The sopapillas were huge and were delicious! read more

Hole in the wall yet roomy. Since I was a child (because I am not a cook) had not seen or tasted shrimp soup the way my grandma made. I found it here and it was delicious. El Comal - Nachos, tamales, crispy taco - Mexican Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Believe the hype! Best breakfast I've had in a long time. I got the Migas. Came with refried beans and pepitas. The potatoes were so good. Perfectly cooked. I've been to other breakfast places in Santa Fe and hate biting into a crunchy ass potato. Coffee was hot and fresh at 1:30pm I really appreciated that, had three cups! Server was friendly and attentive. Salsa was hot but couldn't stop eating it. I'm usually a green chile gal but the red was so good. Partner got pork chops and eggs, was a good breakfast. read more

Local restaurant across the street from the Hampton Inn where we stayed while in the area. The past reviews were true... no frills dining, friendly service, reasonably priced, located in a small strip mall, seemed to have local customers, and take out orders. Food was good. Could use a fly fan though, had to keep shooing away the little pest. We got a 2 item combo plate and chicken tostada. The sopapilla was delicious (included w the combo instead of tortillas). read more

One of the great things about Santa Fe restaurants are these small, delicious, family cafes that serve up excellent food and margaritas. Tucked in a small strip mall-nothing remarkable from the outside- but inside every table was full- and the food was delicious! Nothing sophisticated here, just good food served fast. read more

Please don't walk away from this restaurant when you see the front entrance! Although a little worn, it had too many great Yelp reviews not to walk away. Came here for brunch, their menu has a few American meals from egg sandwiches/wraps/bagel with ham/sausage/bacon , pancakes, French toast or omelettes. The rest of the menu has a Santa Fe Mexican flare and variety with chorizo, Chile sauces, hatch green Chiles, carne asada, carne adovada, Chile Relleno omelettes and more. I got the Huevos Rancheras (over potatoes not tortillas) with red and green sauce - amazing, comes with beans and a sopaipilla (slightly fried, but light fluffy and tasty)! Hubs had the Migas, like Mexican scrambled eggs with goodies of tomatoes, onions, cheese, jalapeños) seasoned well and came with potatoes, beans and freshly made flour tortillas. Others had the Chile Relleno omelette, breakfast burritos, French toast (huge servings). Everything was fresh, home and delicious. Server was friendly and helpful. Great menu variety, watch for parking. read more

Our first morning in Santa Fe. Nice local place with quick friendly service. No frills place. Just good reliable basic new mex food.

El Comal is really good food and lovely people. And their tables are so clean you can eat off of them, which I realized today, after spilling some good stuff out of my burrito. Dang. LoL. read more

Absolutely amazing New Mexican sit-down cuisine at this hole in the wall restaurant. They have fresh ingredients, cooked very well, in huge portions. I am a huge fan of their red chili, and sopapillas with honey. I will definitely return when I'm next in Santa Fe! read more

Took a recommendation from a local for authentic Mexican meal ... it was outstanding! Service was great & single gal was hopping to keep up with folks eating in and take-aways! Salsa with chips spicy. Husband's Triple enchiladas meal is huge - green chili sauce is hot-spicy ... cannot imagine the red! The soft shell chicken taco meal was a large portion too! Filled with white chunks of chicken; I got refried beans vs. whole, rice, and fixings. read more

Found this little gem here on Yelp and not disappointed. Little strip mall restaurant tucked away with great NM flavors. Outdoor seating is preferred, the flies are bothersome and the hanging fly traps are tacky but the food is good. Disappointed I didn't get rice or beans but I am stuffed after the meal. not 5 stars due to the fly traps, and missing rice and beans. Give this place a try its worth it!! read more

Excellent authentic Mexican food. If you're in an RV go ahead and pull in as there's a huge turnaround parking area at the back of the strip center. I had chili rellenos and husband had the Mexican smothered hamburger. Both huge portions and we took half home. The red chili sauce is outstanding. Green is good but very mild. The food was okay, but the ambulance wasn't there for us. I highly recommend eating here if you have no where else to go, but we won't go here again. The next day we went to The Shed in the historic district of Santa Fe, the food was incredible and we paid about the same amount. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60958-d1439851-Reviews-The_Shed-Santa_Fe_New_Mexico.html read more

Everything the other rave reviews say is true. Wonderful food. Very generous portions. Attentive service. So glad we found it.

We wanted good food, friendly service and no frills. And this was it! We got into Santa Fe at 6 pm on a Saturday. I researched places along the way for a tasty, authentic Mexican family friendly dinner. We were greeted right away by a gentleman who told us to sit where ever. He came and took our drink order. Wow! The horchatas are ginormous! Our waitress was so sweet, friendly and came by to check on us but there wasn't a rush. And we were given salsa and chips to start. My husband ordered the combinación with green sauce. The tamale was spicy! But all was delicious. My son ordered the combinacion Christmas style (with green and red sauce). I ordered the chicken and guacamole enchiladas with a sopepilla. It was delicious. The rice and beans and hominy were all delicious. None of the food was overly salty or cheesy which was perfect. Both the red and green sauces had some heat. I didn't find the sauces overly spicy even the tamale I tried from my husband had a bit of heat. He found it to be incredibly spicy. I thought the salsa with the chips was spicier. My youngest son had the kids beef taco. He enjoyed it so much. Sopapillas and tortillas were so soft, and tasty. I loved drizzling honey on the sopapilla. We want good food and don't need it to be a fancy place. We were all happy and had full bellies. It's a smaller place but there were plenty of seats available. Check it out!! read more
