Let me start by saying that the bagels here are pretty much the best in Pasadena. My last visit I was moderately horrified at the cleanliness of the store. The lobby was filthy! The floor had so much crud, dirt and food mashed into the tiles i expected a bad smell. I know there are cleaning companies.out there to professionally deep clean the floors. I need to be reassured they are taking measures to keep clean during this pandemic. Get it together EB!! read more

This place is a train wreck. Service gets worse every week. 25 minutes to get a bagel with lox and cream cheese. Go anywhere else.

Just had a terrible experience at this particular location. Came by here at 12pm today with the wife and ordered a bagel sandwich and panini. The bagel was fine, but after a bite into the panini, my wife found a very long hair in it. We brought this to the attention of a worker and she promptly took it away and said she'd make a new one. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance so we didn't make too big a deal out of it. So they brought back a new one and after a bite we found another hair in it! We promptly lost our appetite and decided to just get a refund. It was then we noticed that none of the people making the food had hair nets or even baseball caps on. So went to one register to ask for a refund and they directed me to another register to say someone would take care of me. After waiting at the other register for 5 minutes and no one showing up, i went to the back asked if someone could help me. They then directed me to the original register. That person then told me i had to wait in a very long line in order to get my refund. There were seriously 4 other people just milling around and none of them could have just taken the 2 minutes to get my money back? So i waited in that long line and finally got my refund. Terrible service, highly questionable hygiene practices, and seems like the staff is poorly trained or doesn't give a crap. Please do not go here if anyone can help it. read more

Great place to have a bagel and coffee or lunch. We always take advantage of eating at Einstein bagels when in the area. Today we stopped by on the way to Malibu. The varieties of bagels are very good. I always order the everything bagel with egg whites. My girlfriend goes for the breakfast bagel with ham, egg, bacon and cheese, whoa! Here's my order: onion bagel toasted with lox schmear cut in half. Poppyseed bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese tomato and capers cut in half. One plain bagel and one onion bagel to go. Here's what I see when I get home: onion bagel toasted with lox schmear NOT cut in half (ok no big deal). Poppyseed bagel toasted with sun dried tomato cream cheese tomato and capers cut in half. Whole wheat and onion bagel to go. I go into this Einsteins 3-4 per week and they get the order wrong frequently because of no regard and neglect for listening to the customer. One word...INCOMPETENT. The food here, on it's own, deserves 4 stars....but the so-called service from the workers here are a pure joke. Product wise....Einstein's is good. There is a huge variety of bagels, as well as a whole menu dedicated to bagel sandwiches, salads, and coffee. I've had their blueberry, cinnamon, and Apple bagels all of which are super soft and super yummy ^__^ I also really enjoy the Lox and Bagels Sandwich. BUT....the reason this place doesn't have a 4 star rating is solely because of the ppl that work here. Incompetent and lazy..I'm actually more interested on how they were able to find so many of the same incompetent ppl and put them together to form this team. Amazing. 1 star for food 1 star for service/location Really? So many 5 star reviews. I'm confused. The bagels are super fluffy with little to no crunch on the outside when toasted. This to me, frankly, is not a bagel. It is nicely seasoned bread. Even Noah's bagels have more of an authentic feel to them than these did. There was no chew to the bread, as if they had been boiled for too little before baking, or had not even been boiled at all. (Gasp!) Servers are nice and patient, despite the setup they have going on. You order at one register, slide down the counter and pay at another and pick up your order back by the first register. Sure, I can always use the extra exercise. But, I saw some other patrons becoming frustrated by the process. All in all, not my cup of tea. read more

I stopped by just a few moments ago to get a bagel with shmear. I ordered a blueberry bagel with shmear - I asked for strawberry shmear but got plain. Not only that, but with my bagel, I got huge globs of the shmear. Every mouthful was 60% cream cheese and 40% bagel. It was sort of gross, so I used a knife to scrape off as much of the cream cheese as I could, and tried to finish the rest. It was the messiest bagel I had ever had, cream cheese was everywhere! For anyone whose never had a fresh bagel before, they do not taste anything like the market brand ones. And NO, market brand bagels do not taste like fresh bagels after you toast them. There is a reason why you can get a 6 pack of hard stale bagels for the price of a single fresh bagel. Yes, I know, $1.20 for a bagel is a bit of a splurge, but trust me when I say this, after you had a taste of a fresh warm chewy bagel, you will never go back to the market brand bagels ever again. Besides, Einstein always has promotions. They occasionally have the "buy a drink and get a free bagel and smear deals" and "40% off their classic/signature dozen deals". They have a large variety of bagels to choose from and wonderful delicious smears to go with each. They also have a variety of bagel sandwiches with healthier options and a huge drink menu, and if you're a fan of espresso they have an espresso club stamp card (after 5 drinks or so you get one free). My personal favorite however, is their plain cranberry bagel. Not toasted. Not smeared. Just plain! It has a great snappy texture on the outside and a nice chewy texture on the inside and you get a burst of cranberry with every bite. It also pairs nicely with their Vanilla Hazelnut Latte (its a bit on the sweeter side but very good). This particular Einstein Bros. is conveniently located in the Whole Food's plaza, hence parking is a breeze compared to their other locations in Pasadena. There are plenty of seating on the inside, and a couple seats on the outside. The staff is always very friendly despite the hour of the day and the service is quick! read more

While the bagels are good, they are not worth the 30+ minute wait on a weekend. We arrived at approximately 10:15, by 10:30 we made it to the front of the line and placed our order. The first four bagels choices we wanted were unavailable, so we ordered a pair of farmhouse sandwiches on everything bagels. At roughly 10:55 we were informed there were no everything bagels anymore. At 11:05 we finally got our sandwiches. While good, the lack of seating and exceptionally slow service are absolutely not worth it. Service on weekends is slow. I had a pretzel bagel sausage and egg sandwich and a pumpkin bagel with maple cream cheese. The pretzel one was good, and the pumpkin one alright, if cold (should have been toasted). But what bugged me was that they got my name wrong and didn't care about fixing it, even after I spelled it for them. People make mistakes...that's not the problem. What's a problem is being indifferent to fixing it...especially when it's so EASY to do so. People's names mean a lot to them...part of friendly service means you show some consideration. read more

You can't go wrong with a store who specializes in bagels.. good tasting bagels to be exact! This place can get quite busy during the mornings. It's ok though because the place has plenty of room to sit, relax, and read up on your morning news! I ordered the lox onion bagel with tomato, red onions, and capers. They did not disappoint me! The friendly staff, such as Aura and Kelsey, are a big help when my indeciveness kicks in and I can't figure out what I'd like that day or when I'm in a rush, they'll go out of their way to say hello or ask how my day was. While Noah's may not have been the best bagel place in the world, I sure liked it better then. Maybe it came with the name change or maybe it's just changed since I stopped working around that area and hadn't gone there in a while, but I feel either way the place has suffered in quality. I found the bagels to be very doughy, lacking that defining firm chewiness. When I bit into my wife's breakfast sandwich, the heated bagel was so soft it might as well have just been normal bread. On top of that, I got an iced coffee, which I know wouldn't be up to par with the larger selection of hot coffees, but I didn't expect it to have a "left out too long" sour taste. When I worked in the area a couple years ago, for a while I would go to Noah's once a week. Now I think I'll move on. read more

Bread. Yum. A group of friends and I stopped at Noah's to grab breakfast before our Journey to the mountains for a day of snowboarding. So we wanted something with substance and what is better than hearty bagels? My friends got jalapeno&cheese with cream cheese. I just got jalapeno&cheese. No need for toasted, it was right off the baking sheet. The bagels are a little pricey especially if you add cream cheese. The reason being is that this place, when it was Noah's Bagels, had these peppercorn potato bagels that were the best bagels in the whole wide world. And no, I haven't been to NY, so I guess I really haven't experienced what true Jewish food is like. WHAT I ORDERED: - Jalapeno bagel with salmon shmear The bagel was good and the shmear was just ok. I definitely have had better lox spreads at other places. If some places are out of the salmon shmear, then I would go get some whipped Philly cream cheese from the market. - Cup of coffee This place offers many coffee choices, depending on which one you would like. I just prefer to keep it simple and go with the house blend. WAIT STAFF I usually come here on a weekend morning and the staff here are pretty energetic and peppy. I guess they drink a couple of Red Bulls before they open the store. But they are definitely not Debbie Downers here. VERDICT: Knowing that they have changed their to a totally different brand, I might give this place a shot and not be so quick to judge. But the fact that they don't have the peppercorn bagels isn't scoring any brownie points with this yelper! Dear managers of this store, Seems you've had many complaints about the service in your store over the last couple of years. Why haven't you retrained your staff or fired the ones that consistently get complaints? I haven't had such bad service in a very long time. I will not name the person that was so incredibly rude because, as I told my daughter, I didn't want her to get fired. But, she's been named a bunch of times already... obviously you don't care about giving customers horrible, disrespectful service. Two pointers I'd give my employees if I cared about providing good service: - if you get the order wrong, don't tell the customer that THEY ordered it wrong. That's basic knowledge. That's customer service 101. My daughter clearly said she wanted a smoothie not a lemonade. Your employee was so rude when we pointed it out to her stating "You said lemonade" with a $#!% attitude. - if an employee needs to make a smoothie for the order that she got wrong, she needs to make the damn smoothie. Not start the smoothie, leave it in the blender, and go to the back of the house, start eating and not wash her hands before touching a customers item. There are windows. OMGosh! This place is highly unorganized. There's a sign outside the door stating, they allow 5 people in at a time. However, there is no employee telling you when to enter the premises. When you enter & there are more than 5 people, a young worker that's taking orders SHOUTS / HOLLERS at you saying "STEP OUTSIDE, ONLY 5 PEOPLE ALLOWED IN." Well , how do you know how many people are in there? Do you open the door, step in & start counting the customers? No! Einstein needs to get organized and hire professional staff. I will start this off by saying that I'm positive there are better bagels out there. New Yorkers are nuts for bagels and swear these are whack but guess what? I'm not a New Yorker! and guess what else? I haven't been impressed by any of the bagels I've had in NYC! The main reason I come here is because they make the bagels just like I like it - open faced toasted everything bagel, plain cream cheese with cucumber & tomato, S & P. It's so good that it makes me forget about the 100 carbs I consumed for about 5 minutes after. I went here on a Saturday morning because I was craving something a little different than my usual Starbucks breakfast run. I was craving bagels and I've heard that Einstein's is the place to go when you have that sort of craving. I ordered an Asiago Bagel with cream cheese. Customer service was good but the bagel itself rarely had any flavor to it. It was apparently toasted, but it wasn't even crunchy like it should be. Like someone else also mentioned, they stuffed the bagel with so much cream cheese that it was a bit gross to eat. Also, I told them that I wanted it to-go and they didn't even include napkins.
