Hands down one of my boyfriend and my favorite places to go! The bagels are always perfect and so is my coffee. And the customer service is always 12/10. Vanessa is one of the managers and she is ALWAYS so eager to do anything and everything she can to make sure you have the best experience and it is so obvious how much she genuinely cares. She treats you like royalty and makes our experience special every time we visit. Listening to her speak to the other customers too, you can tell she really cares about every single person who visits. As someone who works in a restaurant, I'm taking notes-as should anyone else who works in the service industry. It's not that I don't like this place-- the manager is super nice (although if you're like me and easily annoyed by absurdly energetic management-types, it's a little tough to stomach) and the staff is fine and I think their bagels are pretty good. It's that the prices keep going up and the amount you get keeps going down. I mean, they call their cream cheese a "schmear" but the amount you get is less like a schmear and more like a schmidge (disclaimer: not actual words). There are plenty of places to get bagels; there are far fewer places where you get the level of customer service I've gotten at this Einstein Bros. I used to frequent this location on my morning commute to work, but after a job change I come far less often, less than once a month. The manager still recognizes me, and even remembers my name! I've seen his address plenty of other customers by name, greeting them with a smile. And on the only occasion where one of the employees made a mistake on my bagel (cinnamon raisin instead of cinnamon sugar), they not only replaced my order immediately without hesitation, but gave me a free pastry without any prompting from me. Hit or miss. Staff is friendly, albeit not always on point. Returned to this spot today, as per usual on my days off. Ordered one sandwich and bagel and two coffees. Spent a good amount of time waiting, just for a coffee cup. The staff didn't seem to notice, though I did stand at the counter and attempted to get their attention. Eventually a staff member who appeared to be returning from either a break or another part of this location noticed and helped me. Finally receiving my cup, I then proceeded to find all the coffee containers empty. Kind of disappointed, but not enough to deter me from ever returning. Just probably not as often. If I can get away with not leaving any stars, then I will. Let me start by saying good bagels, good cream cheese, and nice people. However, I was totally unsatisfied with my dining experience in this store. I drove all the way from Murrieta, CA to the Oceanside store. I normally get my bagels from Bruegger's Bagels here in my hometown of Murrieta. Bruegger's Bagels have the best bagels in Caifornia second to none, no questions asked. We decided for something different on this day. Big mistake! So, I get to Einstein on Sunday morning and the first thing my wife and I notice is that all the tables are set up, but God forbid, people are not allowed to sit at them. What is funny is that I went to each eating establishment in that complex and all were open for indoor dining to include the Starbucks. We made our order which was fine, but we could not eat inside the store, so we had to go outside. What did we find? Whoever made the decision, but all the umbrellas were removed from the tables, so all the patrons at that time had to sit in the hot sun while eating. To say the least it was hot and very uncomfortable. The outdoor tables were very dirty. Finally, the one garbage can on the patio was overflowing attracting birds and who knows what else. The can was so full, that patrons were starting to throw their garbage on the patio floor or else leaving garbage at their tables. This place is being run in a very unprofessional manner and whoever is making decisions for customer comfort is not doing a very good job. I am totally unsatisfied with this place and we will never come again. Your customers are your life blood and you guys are letting them down. You get one star only because I have to give you one. Bagels were good, that is why Im giving it two stars instead of one, but I ordered an iced latte and after tasting it, I realized that they made it with sour old milk, I sniffed a little to confirm my suspicions and it did smell like sour milk mixed with coffee. We have been regular customers of Jefferson branch for past 2-3 months ordering from them every week .Our last 2-3 experiences have been very disappointing and frustrating . No doubt they have wonderful bagels but they really need to improve their service and customer satisfaction . Their staff is very incompetent.We order through their app only and last couple of times whenever we reach there for pick up, the bagels we ordered are out of stock. The staff doesn't even inform us proactively. Only after waiting for 10-15 mins at the order ahead counter and inquiring about the status they informed that they are out of stock. What's the point of ordering online in advance , getting one order confirmation , traveling there and then waiting for 15 mins at their order ahead counter just to know that you will be left hungry. ? I was expecting it to be busy, but we were first in line. A line of hungry patrons quickly formed behind us, but the staff provided great customer service to every person in the shop. They have many varieties of freshly baked bagels, pastries and seasonal treats. They have something for the sweet tooth or fresh fruit and fruit cups if you're looking for something healthy. They also have a variety of warm drinks to complement the perfect breakfast. If you visit later in the day they have bagel sandwiches that will get you through the rest of your adventures. I was craving a cinnamon sugar bagel before we started on the road. My bagel was perfectly toasted and smothered in plain cream cheese. I've been to other Einstein Bagel locations, and thus far, this branch was the best. The two servers were totally welcoming, accepted the coupon I used with courtesy and grace (unlike the La Jolla location where they were displeased with my coupon). I ordered a lox and cream cheese bagel-sandwich, extra onions and capers. The woman working the counter was quick and made me a delicious sandwich. The egg- white and asparagus bagel-sandwich was really tasty, loved it too. Both were filling, flavorful and fresh. Two thumbs UP. I had to laugh because at another Einstein Brothers Bagels location, I asked for a toasted bagel and the sweet, well-meaning employee asked me if I wanted "Creen Cheese." When I replied that I wanted the "cream cheese," he smiled and said to the bagel-preparer, "One everything bagel with CREEN cheese." Bless his heart. I've observed the operation of this place for several years. Always amazed as how well this place operates, even when it is slammed by the number of customers with custom orders. The general manager, a man named Ash, has this place running as smoothly as a fine watch. The manager and his well trained staff make it a point too make sure every customer is totally satisfied. They go out of their way to learn regular customer's names. The friendly attitude of the employees is reflected in how friendly the customers appear to be. This is an inviting place to begin your day with breakfast, a quick delicious lunch or a mid afternoon coffee and pastry. (Better, less expensive than the pretentious Starbucks that is close by). The explanation of the 2 star by yelp when you pick it is dead on. Meh. I've experienced better. So first off the gentlemen who takes the orders in the back side of the restaurant 5 star hands down. Kind of tacky to ask if you want to donate 2$ for say children and you will get a free bagel. hummm that bagel cost pennies to make, they are sold for about a buck, and I have to use it for the free bagel next time I come in. Who gets just one bagel? So you get a return customer, who already prepaid for a bagel and is going to buy a drink or something else when they come in. Just ask if you want to donate a 1$ for what ever you are collecting for. Were prepaying for that bagel with the second 1$ in that 2$ donation. This place is disgusting. I went with a friend prior to a road trip, we ordered two breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Their selection of bagels is decent, the decor is that of a chain restaurant, the customer service was a joke. Actually, it was so bad it crossed the line from joke to almost provoking violence. I am not a happy camper before my morning coffee. Where do i start?? Chronologically, i guess. First, we paid for our order upfront (smart business tactic on their end) and I was given quarters as substitutes for dollars. Annoying. My friend wanted swiss on her egg and cheese bagel, and after the teenage sandwich maker and the manager argued over the location of said cheese we were instructed they were out. Again, annoying, but we're hungry and itching to get on the road so we're not choosy at this point. We get our sandwiches and the paper wrap of my sandwich is covered in a weird clear goo. GROSS! I tell the manager who wraps the gooey papered bagel with another paper wrapper. Ummm. Not what I was thinking. So i take my double wrapped bagel to the condiment bar. Little puddles of spilled milk and sugar everywhere. Flies abound. They were out of skim milk for the coffee as well as ketchup packets. When they went looking for both in the back I was told someone forgot to order stock. I'm seeing a pattern. At this point we were so aggravated with the experience we left our sad sandwiches on the counter and drove through the neighboring McDonald's. I like the good ole smoked apple-bacon, but when I had to say goodbye to the SN, THE BACON, CHEESE, AND boxed egg white purée was not only underwhelming but...lacked intelligent preparation. So, apparently some of my friends have their bagel place. As in, they are really upset if they have to eat at a different bagel place. I'm not there. My favorite bagel is the everything and einsteins does it right because it is COVERED in flavor. The coffee is decent and the orange juice is delicious. This place usually wins out over the places because they regularly send me coupons in the mail. The thing I dislike most about this established is the other customers. I guess that is to be expected in a chain though. But seriously guy in front of me. We've both been in line for like 8 minutes staring at the bagels and you get up front to order 2 buckets and no ideas which ones!? You won't let the employee just pick them for you since you clearly are ordering enough to get one of each? Did you just say that you guess you'll take the last everything bagel!? If someone goes inside and explicitly orders my bagels I think, okay... That's cool. You have good bagel taste and you got here first so you win this time. But this guy, grrr... And proceed to tell me they don't have the location on file. I provided the city and the street name but I don't know the building number. I don't go to this store often and today I remembered why. My dad and I went in and ordered a bagel with cream cheese. What we were to do next wasn't very clear so we went down to the register to be rung. The cashier instead of helping us was more distracted with some other transaction that had just taken place that it took her three other employees to deal with it. And instead of apologizing to us that she was completely distracted she proceeded to be somewhat annoyed that she had to help us. Which took place two more times after the first time.
