Fresh cannoli!
Becky C.

100 percent amazing! LOVED the cannoli... especially the shell! Not overly sweet at all! The rum baba was soaked in rum and to die for! Highly recommend coming here when in the OG Little Italy of NYC! There are a ton of bakeries here... but this one is it!

Front counter. Nothing but pastries.

First visit at this establishment. Egidio's Pastry Shop display case has so many choices for you. There's 10 to 12 tables to dine in if you like. Sit at the tables and place your order. The pastries I ordered tasted ok.

Egídio has been on Arthur Avenue for 113 years, 1/3 of the time I have been here. Visiting Carmela here is like coming home and seeing family! The baked goods are so fresh and delicious, there is nothing like it. The most difficult part of coming here is deciding what to eat will it be a regular cannoli, chocolate covered cannoli, white chocolate cannoli, cannoli gelato, or even a cannoli cake? We can't go wrong with anything but unfortunately, we always overdo it.

Just awesome pastries! First time here in over 5 years and now they have gelato as well as pastries. Good service in an old fashion Italian pastry shop. Just a great place for tasty and fresh pastries. Wish Carmella the owner would open up a place in South Florida.

Egidio Pastry Shop is an Italian pastry bakery that opened in the Bronx's "Little Italy" in 1912. It was founded by Italian immigrant Pasquale Egidio. Raised in the Southern Italian city of Salerno (where his parents owned a café), Egidio came to New York City in 1909 at the age of 22. He was accompanied by his wife Carmela and their two young children. After persuading a wealthy uncle to stake him, Egidio secured a small storefront on East 187th Street in the Bronx and his family moved into the apartment upstairs. At first he only served coffee and simple pastries like his parents had in Salerno. When the business took off, Egidio installed an oven so he could produce fancier pastries such as struffoli, quaresimali, and sfogliatelle. The Egidios ultimately had eight children and they all worked in the shop. None of them loved it the way their daughter Antonetta did; she would later go by "Annie". She worked in the shop for over 50 years and would have worked there longer had her brother not sold it to David Palazzo (one of the bakers) in 1982. He in turn sold it to local professor Paolo Palombo and his wife Carmela Lucciola in 1987. The couple later divorced, but Carmela still owns the shop to this day. She remodeled the shop in 2003 and continues to use Mr. Egidio's original recipes. My family and I recently stopped at Egidio's for some dessert. We went to the Bronx Zoo for the day and afterwards we had dinner on Arthur Avenue. We decided to head to Egidio's for dessert when we heard that they were the oldest pastry shop in Little Italy. The shop smelled great, was very clean, and had a huge selection of pastries and coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My wife and I ordered and shared some cannoli (both plain and chocolate-dipped) while our son ordered a mini éclair. We were all happy with our choices. If you're looking for an authentic old-school Italian pastry shop then look no further than Egidio's!

Rather than have Saturday dinner at a restaurant like we've been doing since the start of our kitchen reno, my mom invited us over for a good ol' Dominican dinner. Needed dessert though. It's easy for me to head to the same old Zaro's in Parkchester for a few sweets- decided against it. Family-run Italian bakery- Egidio in the Belmont section of Little Italy in The BX, made the cut when my non-Yelp husband tried his luck at getting dessert. Major win. It smells wonderful inside. It's cozy. It's warm. There are rows of Sfoglietelle, Biscottis, Napoleons, cakes, etc- but came with a mission to get 3 cake slices. Noticed a Chocolate Mousse but I always have this fear of disappointment of buying a stale, brown stuff people call Mousse. Not here. Service is nice and price is too. My Mom enjoyed her pumpkin-glazed Cheesecake, hubs enjoyed his Berry/ crumbly-topped/custardy slice and I wished I had a second Chocolate Mousse slice. Their Chocolate Mousse is a Bronx masterpiece: devil's chocolate cake base is moist- like you could really tell it's made the day of and not the day before or worse- 2 days before then sits on the shelf. The Mousse isn't a terrine-type but held its own perfectly as a 'regular sliced' piece and the dark chocolate came through very nice. Little Italy in The BX has a lot of nice Italian bakeries, but never has there been a bakery that's made me want to dive head first into a few Chocolate Mousse slices (or a whole Mousse cake) like the one here.

I'm an old-fashioned girl so I love this old fashioned shop, founded 1912, but more importantly I was looking for love and I came to the right place. I fell head over heels for the vanilla Italian ice, cannoli dipped in white chocolate, blueberry custard tart, and apple turnover! Believe me when my lips touched the icee, I felt like I was in Heaven. I'd go back to Arthur Avenue just for Caffe Egidio! Delicious!

Old fashioned Italian bakery. What's not to love? Took some chocolate covered cannoli to go. Then some rum soaked custard filled pastry. Easy grab and go traditional Italian bakery.

A wonderful pastry shop with seemingly endless choices of baked goods. There are a few tables if you decide to eat in. Handicap friendly and street parking. They also do custom birthday and wedding cakes.

Delicious baked goods here. I had a coffee and a cannoli. The owner is really nice and was good with recommendations. I love places like this!

Very dry rainbow cookies at $37 per pound.
Bonnie S.

This pasty place sold stale and dried out and expired rainbow cookies to me at 38.00 lb. The owner refused to exchange, or refund, yelling and defending her selling me stale dried out expired cookies, she kept yelling, "you saw it, already. you saw it!". Whatever that means I "saw it". I got ripped off by this place, and it doesn't feel good.

We were referred to Egidios by family whom have been visiting this spot for their Cartoccis (fried dough filled with cannoli cream), supposedly the only pastry shop on Arthur Ave to sell them. Egidios claims to be the oldest pastry shop on Arthur Ave... the service was exceptional, the staff was extremely patient while I overwhelmingly placed my in-store and to-go orders. We sat down for a cappuccino and some cookies while we debated what to bring home; the cappuccino was warm and delicious. The cookies and pastries we brought home were enjoyed by all. They delicately pack the boxes and top them off with red and white twine. It will be hard visiting a different pastry shop on Arthur Ave as we were blown away by the kind service and tasty treats from Egidios.

In a part of Morris Park that's changed, Conti's is a great asset. My constructive criticism on Conti's. I ordered 2 cakes online. Paid in full for both last week. They gave me a pickup window 9AM. I show up early & there's a big line. I ask a worker & she says there's 1 line. She states there's 1 line for picking up a cake paid in full, ordering a new cake, getting coffee, getting pastries. Guys NO GOOD! Why pay in full & order a week prior? You should have 2/3 lines. 1 line picking up cakes paid in full only. 1 bread line only. 1 line for new orders. I mean this criticism as constructive

I remember when Conties would price the specialty cheesecakes to $30-$35 max. a 12inch pistatchio cheesecake is $46???? i know for a fact the employees dont get paid enough for the price of a cheesecake to increase that dramatically. one of the girls said the pies/cakes are made a week before they're sold, so the price on soon to expire pastries is insane. for $46 dollars I can get a larger and better quality cheesecake in Manhattan. The ladies behind the counter look unhappy and find every request to be inconvenient. this place is definitely ripping you off. UPDATE: I opened the box of cookies for my friend, she reached for the first cookie and as soon as she took a bite, she pulled out a blond hair from the cookie. $22 dollars for cookies full of hair. I'm never going back.

I just wanted to thank you personally for the wonderful cake you created in honour of my 50th birthday. I was so impressed and so was everyone else!!! Your attention to detail is incredible and very much appreciated. From the individual blades of grass, delicate little flowers, strands of hair blowing in the wind and the specs (how on earth did you do those?!) It seemed such a shame to have to cut into it, but I'm glad we did because the cake itself was a delicious light sponge with a delicate orangey tang and creamy butter icing, just perfect and just what I wanted J. Your creativity and artistry really made my party-meal special and I would certainly recommend you to all of my friends without hesitation. Rest assured that we will definitely be using your services to plan future family celebrations.

I'll start with my whole family & I have been a Valencia fan & customer for more than 40 years …read more I can say hands down all their cakes are fantastic. I went to the 9 w W burnside ave Bronx NY I ordered 2 dozens cupcakes I wanted that traditional Valencia taste. To my disappointment they were tuff so dry nobody even attempted to finish one. I call the store mine you I wasn't asking for a refund never mentioned that . I believe she was the owner didn't take it well . She said & I quote well maybe everyone didn't know how to eat them . We should've cut them & inverted them smh i said kids here we're not going to do that . Then she raved on how many orders a day come in& out and how one customer byes everyday that cupcake . Again I was polite reassuring her I loved Valencia & I said I wasn't trying & to insult her but she didn't for once apologize or take responsibility for her product or business. I'm so disappointed . She was so defensive & dismissive . Won't go there anymore .
