This bakery is close to where I run errands so I like to pop in once every couple months for a treat. They have a good selection of cookies, cakes, donuts, and other little delights. I usually go for the little red velvet squares but I've also tried the carrot cake and chocolate square. A few times, Ive had a piece that was a little hard compared to the usual texture of cake. Man o man! Pray for my waistline ! So many delicious options but, the lobster tail was calling my name! I had the option of choosing a custard or, cannoli filling and decided to go with both- when in Rome! The custard was my favorite because it was so light and airy, not dense at all and just paired so well with the flaky crust and sprinkled powdered sugar. Definitely found my new bakery spot! read more

Honestly, I have not been here myself yet. Only my family members have, so I cannot really speak on their customer service. What I can say is that their cakes are consistently disappointing. Every time we order sliced pieces, they are always stale. Not once have I tried a slice and felt satisfied. I remember one time my youngest sister got a red velvet cake for her birthday, and we could not even finish it. The cream was not terrible, but the cake itself was incredibly stale, worse than anything I have ever had. Just recently, we picked up some slices last minute to bring to a cousin's place we had not seen in ages. We were so embarrassed after taking a bite because of how horrible the cake tasted. The absolute worst customer service ever!!!! You couldn't pay this girl to have a smile on her face. Extremely rude and you can tell she hates her job. This place would be great if they knew how to treat people and had some sort of class. DO NOT COME HERE!!! Also clean your tables your presentation was disgusting!!! Anyone that defends these terrible people are friends of theirs or family. As you can see I am not the only one complaining about customer service!! read more

Guys.... so I'm a big time biscotti connoisseur and always on the hunt for the best. My boyfriend grew up in the Bronx and the last time we drove to visit his mom he took me to Morris Park Bake Shop. I have never seen a larger array of biscotti in my life! They must have 15 DIFFERENT KINDS! From original, to cranberry walnut, to my absolute favorite which is typically hard to find called the JAWBREAKER biscotti. So biscotti is originally quite hard since it's twice baked, but the jawbreaker - true to it's name - is triple baked so it's extra hard and crunchy. It's truly the best I have ever had not only in New York but in the United States! As far as other pastries here, I wasn't impressed. Would've given 5 stars for their biscotti but I tried the rainbow cookies and chocolate covered pretzels which were both just blah. But please please order the jawbreaker biscotti. It will knock your socks off. Totally YUM! read more

Stopped by today. Really nice assortment of pastries. Old charming place that my research shows was once a German establishment. I love old world bakeries and glad I stopped by. The one rainbow cookie I had was delicious. The only reason 4 stars is because the young lady while cute and efficient was somewhat cold. No smile. No good energy. I thought the cookies and biscotti were pretty good.... definitely tasty, but nothing that really blew me out of the water. The really rock hard almond biscotti was probably the best. However, I just didn't feel wonderfully safe in here. I walked in and the man toward the back of the shop had no mask on at all, and another female staff member had her mask down under her chin. Only 1/3 staff members had their masks on which isn't really great to walk into. Additionally, they're cash only. It's whatever, I know plenty of places do it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get cash to get something here. If I already have cash on me, that's fine. read more

A wonderful neighbor of mine knows that I have a mean sweet tooth, especially when it comes to chocolate. I was told by them that this particular bakery has a vast selection. I told them I'd always loved chocolate mousse, but hadn't had any in years. For my birthday in January of this year, I was surprised by my neighbor with the BEST cake I've ever eaten. It was rich without being overwhelming and there were layers of mousse throughout the cake. And to top it all off, they wrote in the prettiest handwriting Happy Birthday in pink. Do yourself a big favor and go to Conti's a few blocks down. Ordered a cake cause I needed it last minute and it looked nothing like the cake I ordered. When I called them out on the mistake they got defensive and started giving attitude. Kept telling me that's not what we discussed when clearly they showed me different sprinkles when ordering but put something else on my cake. They were also like "I'm not the one who helped you"....please take some pride and ownership of your store and work....horrible service. The Morris Park Bake Shop is simply "Classic" . A family run bakery, where I have been shopping for decades ! It is where I always order my delicious Thanksgiving pies, and go there on a regular basis especially for their apple turnovers ( just love their turnover pastry ), chocolate almond danish cakes, and other delicious baked goodies. I love their fruit tarts. This is a very old school Bakery located at Morris Park Avenue. My friends at Einstein used to buy cakes, cheesecakes or fruit tarts from here for our birthday celebrations . Thats how I got to learn about this shop. Good thing is: they have a huge selection of sweets. I am not a sweet expert but been to the shop physically once, there are plenty of options. And they all look yummy! I just love fruit tarts when it comes to sweets and their tarts are very fresh and tasty. The crust has a distinct buttery taste that I like. And I can eat the whole small tart at one sitting! My only issue with them is they work with cash only. I mean why?? at this age, how many shops are left as cash only... I just can not wrap my head around why they wont accept credit cards... I think I've consumed enough Italian pastry to know what's good and what's not. While I'm no authority figure by any means, Morris Park Bake shop just doesn't do it for me. MPBS is really old school - walking in is almost like stepping back in time. They have a good variety of pastry and everything looks really clean - all things that speak to me. However, I really don't think their baked goods are the best. Their stuffoli are big and puffy, where I personally prefer them to be firmer. Also, we got a cherry pie from them but it lacked flavor. To add insult to injury, there were barely any cherries in the filling - just a lot of that viscous pie filling binder. On a positive note, their chocolate cake is very good - moist and lots of chocolate flavor. I really wish MPBS put out better product because I love old school Italian bakeries and they're fading fast. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon for their bakes though, you're better off going elsewhere. I may however come back in the summer for some ices, and maybe some chocolate cake. read more

I called Morris Park bakery on Friday afternoon and spoke to the owner Anna Maria I expressed that I wanted a different kind of cake I told her I wanted something with peanut butter she suggested a chocolate cake with peanut butter in the middle peanut butter mousse on the outside covered by a chocolate frosting there wasn't one crumb left when we ate it on Sunday If you like peanut butter this is the cake for you it was ridiculously outrageous! Two weeks ago we ordered a peaches and fresh whipped cream cake again there was not a crumb left! Absolutely delicious! I live in Westchester and I'm driving 45 minutes for these cakes That's how good they are! That's the third time I ordered the peaches and cream cake! read more

Great tasting baked goods. Real home-baked taste. REAL Italian-- lady who seems to be the owner, speaks Italian. Oh-- and my huge ass crumb cake costs $.85. NO LIE. $.85. Can you believe that? And it was delicious too. Considering I just started teaching 2 blocks away from this place, it will be my new morning to-go place! Probably not the best thing for my new work out regime-- but damn good! Worth a visit if in the Morris Park area! read more

This hidden gem has the best cannoli in NYC. I been here 4 times in one day, when I found out they have Italian ices and one of the flavors is cannoli. Omg. The crust is not frozen hard like others, the filling is delicious, not too many chocolate chips. Yummy and good job Morris Park bake shop team. read more

I love this bake shop... love it-- BUT (oh here it comes), I got a stale cake!! The cake was stale, the frosting was grainy, the fruit looked old... what happened? We had to throw the cake away. The worst part, it was for my brother's birthday. I've never seen him more upset. It was a horrible day for him and he was looking forward to the cake bc it was from Morris Park Bakery, and we've been getting our pastries there for over 3 years. To throw your birthday cake away, is just a sucky thing. I'm writing this not to say this is the last time I'll go, but in hopes that the bakery will see this and not give subpar baked goods to their customers when I know they are capable of so much better. read more

I had a craving for a special type of cake with both an ice cream layer and a regular cake layer and THIS PLACE MADE IT. We placed our order and the bakery had it ready the next morning. Walked into this bakery this morning looking for a sweet treat. It was empty with the exception of one waiting customer who walked in a moment before I did. With three staff behind the counter, this other woman was asked if she was being helped, yet I was not. So I walked out after waiting another 3 minutes or so. Anyone wonder what that was about? I think you can figure it out. Will never step foot in there again. Don't open a business in the Bronx if you're not prepared to serve a diverse group of patrons. read more

I had the Yemini shakshuka, along with sharing a regular Bint Al Sahn (flatbread with black sesame seeds) and a Bint Al Sahn with honey drizzled on it. The restaurant owner/manager was very sweet and welcoming. Apparently this establishment bakes the Bint Al Sahn for lots of restaurants and hotels in the greater NYC area. We should've cut them & inverted them smh i said kids here we're not going to do that . Then she raved on how many orders a day come in& out and how one customer byes everyday that cupcake . Again I was polite reassuring her I loved Valencia & I said I wasn't trying & to insult her but she didn't for once apologize or take responsibility for her product or business. I'm so disappointed . She was so defensive & dismissive . Won't go there anymore .

When I get rainbow cookies, I get them for that moist, sweet, cakey-cookie texture and flavor, and this didn't really have that, I mostly tasted the jam they used in between layers. The pignoli tart was dry and I didn't get much of that almondy flavor I usually get from other bakeries. The sfiagtelle wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about. Overall overpriced and quality didn't live up to the price, although unfortunately this is generally not out of the norm for Arthur Ave for a while now.
