During the time we spent in the Bronx, we came to this pastry shop two times. Once for gelato and once for cannolis. Compare to other cannoli shops on Arthur Avenue this place had ample indoor seating. One of the times we were here, we even saw a giant group of Bronx firefighters enjoying some dessert. Definitely a good sign that this place is worth it. The mango gelato was really refreshing on a hot summer day in New York and I really appreciated that the cannolis were available in small or larger sizes. I was a bit disappointed that the tiramisu was very light on flavor, especially in the ladyfingers. However, the cappuccino was delicious and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. On Christmas morning, as my family and I are last minute people, we were searching far and wide for open bakeries. We stumbled upon this lovely bakery and we were so happy that we did. We walked in, we were so overwhelmed by all the choices and wanted to get everything. We settled for a box of cannolis, rainbow cookies, napoleon and chocolate covered strawberries. I also got an Apple Turnover for breakfast. The apple turnover was one of the best I had! The cannolis must've been filled recently, I always worry I'll get stale or not crunchy cannolis but these were fresh and super crunchy! Came here on a Tuesday afternoon. Picked up some of my favorite pastries. Service was great... quick and helpful. They have 2 different types of rainbow cookies, one with apricot jam and one with raspberry. The one with raspberry was my favorite, it was moist and flavorful. New York City has two Little Italys. The original is on the southern part of Manhattan near Chinatown & the 2nd one is in the Bronx. The best one is in the Bronx so I made sure it was in our itinerary. From the time our plane landed, I've been craving Italian pastries. Though I went to school just a few blocks away It was not as popular then. With Yelp as my guide I found DeLillos. There were so many goodies to choose from but had to limit our choices. It was a very hot day so I ordered the Pistachio Gelato, highly recommended by the lady helping me. We also tasted the Cannoli, Biscotti with iced Cappuccino to wash it all down. Delillos was awesome. Everything we ordered was amazing. It felt like home & brought back many fond memories of my life in NYC. First off...let me start by saying the shop smells great and has a very large assortment of cakes, cookies and Italian pastries. Some panettones and Italian candy were also on display. I stopped in to order a couple of cakes and a few trays of cookies for a family party...and I was happy I did. Everything tasted good and they did an excellent job. The shop is clean and has a very pleasant atmosphere and the staff behind the counter were very friendly and accommodating. They have a nice, large area where you can sit and order coffee/espresso or any treat you may desire. ENTRANCE- you are kind of on your own. No one to help a new face coming into the establishment. SERVICE- again hard to figure out what to do if you are new. If you sit at a table nobody comes by? Finally went to the back and grabbed the attention of the barista to place an order. TABLE SERVICE - you go back to your table and in a while a waitress brings your order. Then they disappear lol. COFFEE - standard drink sized cups and the beverages were good. They use that popular Italian coffee which is pretty good. PRICES- a bit on the high side for 2 cappuccinos and 1 large cannoli total $19 plus another few dollars for a tip. If I could give a 3 1/2 I would. We were looking for a dessert place after having a late lunch in City Island, and Yelp led us to this pastry shop. Parking is utterly impossible! After looking around for five minutes or so, my wife had to drop me off and then circle around the block while I made the purchases. Too bad, because the place is actually quite nice inside. I would have loved to sit down with the family and had a coffee and a pastry. They had huge selection of little cakes, cookies and the like. I'm sure everybody can find something they'd like here. We decided to get a few items to sample including cannolis, Napoleon's and rum cakes. Everything was absolutely fantastic. My wife who is an avid baker and an aspiring pastry chef had nothing but great things to say about the place. My kids also loved it. Regarding the coffee, it was decent enough. The notes were primarily floral and nuttiness which I found to be similar to Lavazza. I think they have their own in-house brand though. It was OK, but very weak. In my opinion they were not quality beans or freshly roasted. I also want to mention a minor gripe which is that I asked two different people two separate times to make sure that coffee was decaf. And of course I still got caffeinated. Not the end of the world, but slightly annoying. That aside, I would definitely return here to check out some more of their items. DeLillo was the perfect dessert stop after a full meal at nearby Tra Di Noi. My husband and I savored tiramisu, a pistachio biscotti, and black coffee in the spacious interior. The tiramisu was heart-stopping, truly the best we'd ever had. My lord, so soft, so creamy, yet balanced and enhanced by the rum and coffee. We had never encountered a pistachio-flavored biscotti, and enjoyed the novelty of the dense, nutty pastry as well. A bit to dense, felt like it wasn't light enough in texture. Sweetness was good, but overall again not the best. The cannoli was very good. This was my family's go to bakery for many years...birthday cakes, pastries, cookies, special events platters, etc. DeLillo was one of the few bakeries in the last couple of years in little Italy and in the area , in general, that still had good quality delicious bakery items. Well, that unfortunately came to a screeching halt this past weekend. I spent almost 100 dollars on pastries and cookies to take to a dear old friend's party who lives in another state with no good Italian bakeries around her. First of all, the mini pastries were so small as were the large sfogliatelle ( they were the size of what I know as a mini sfogliatelle). The mini sfogliatelle were the size of a silver dollar coin! I've never seen them that small. Anyway, at the party, I took one bite of a sfogliatelle and I threw it away. It was so nasty tasting like old rancid butter was used. My daughter took a bite of a mini cannoli and threw the rest away. And for my daughter to not eat a cannoli, I know it had to be really bad. She is not that picky when it comes to sweets. My husband offered me a bite of a mini eclair and it had no taste whatsoever. The pastries were so bad that my husband thought he had just lost his taste for them since we haven't had any in about 6 months. I didn't get to taste the cookies, at all, so I can't speak to that. It's just sad. I won't be spending money for pastries that just look good. I know good quality and have seen the decline in most bakeries in the last 10-15 years. As quality and taste decline so will people's expectations and a new lower bar for taste will be established and they'll accept a substandard product. I will never accept it. read more

I have been a loyal shopper for over the past 10 years to the Delillo Pastry Shop when I go shopping on Arthur Ave. I have tried to stay loyal to Delillo this past year. However, each time I go, the quality of the pastry continues to decline. Our St. Joseph's Pasty in March were stale, our pasty in April were stale and we went again Thursday night - while the pasty looked delicious on display - the cookies were stale, the cannoli's were stuffed days ago and the overall quality of everything we bought was awful. I usually ask for a decaf late or cappuccino when I buy pastry for the trip home. Last month the coffee was so terrible (warm milk and warm water). I am a cancer survivor and so many times when I ask for decaf they give me a regular at this pasty shop. I would rather you say, I am sorry - we don't have decaf instead of lying and giving me regular or watering it down. We mentioned our disappointment in the quality of pasty over the past year on Thursday night to the two woman working could care less. read more

I tend to order the same thin each time... rainbow cookies (they have raspberry and also apricot), cannolis and cappuccinos! Horrible DO NOT order from this place. this is how the order look like it when I open it from the box I don't even know if it's the food that I ordered when I called the restaurant to complain the lady on the phone said "well it's not my problem you should've had your ordered picked up at the store instead of having it delivered once a delivery person takes it that's on the driver. We don't give refunds" Never Once apologized and told me that if I want my food to look presentable that I need to come pick it up and not deliver. I called GrubHub to make a complaint and the lady called back and she actually confirm to the GrubHub person that it was my fault for having order delivery instead of picking up in the store. The clientele is a nice mix of locals, college kids, and tourists which adds to the charm.
