To sum it up.. Nice place, ok food. I've never been able to eat at eggslut before because I've only seen it at the Grand Central Market and the line is always insanely long. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was just a little underwhelming, probably because the anticipation was just too high. If you've been to SoCal, you've probably heard of Eggslut before. In my opinion though, it's not quite worth visiting. The interior is clean and modern, and the service is nice and prompt. However, the food lacks a bit when you consider the price. The bacon egg and cheese tastes fairly normal, and is fairly small. The hash browns do have a bit of truffle flavor, but they're very oily. So yeah, everyone's been to Eggslut, right? It's good, but expensive for what you're getting. That's the bottom line for me. Two Fairfax specials with sausage and two hash browns came out to like 30-plus bucks. Geez. Sausage also had this weird texture, almost like the precooked Jimmy Dean ones you get in the frozen section. Velvety, runny style eggs were on point, though, as always. For the hash browns, you get complimentary ketchup or their spicy mayo. The latter works really well, but unfortunately they give you these really tiny containers that you can't fully dip into because the tots hash is much bigger. Location is in middle of the consumer section of Glendale, with limited parking spots in the back. Easy to get in and out, if it's not too busy obviously. We come to Glendale once a year, and I remember hearing that there was an Eggslut here, but never been. When we searched Google maps, and it was only 2 blocks from our location, we walked over. There was a line, but it moved fairly quickly. The inside had a neon " Egglsut" on its furthest wall. I recently had to give up carbs, so I opted for the bunless version of their sausage sandwich. I've seen Eggslut for YEARS on a mix of social media, people talking, etc. I'm sure you have too. Well, the stars finally lined up and I had the opportunity to go to eggslut (other times I've tried have been at the Central LA market with 1+ hour line, which I was def. not going to wait in). Anyhow, it's not really the fault of Eggslut, but it just didn't meet the hype for me. There's a parking garage a short walk away which gives you the first 90 minutes of parking for free. I recommend finding that place as parking is rather hard otherwise. I ordered my food and waited patiently for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, the only woman who was working there (I didn't catch her name) kept prioritizing people who were walking up to her for pick-ups, even though I'd been waiting much longer. After watching more than 10 people get their food before me, I finally asked the male cashier how much longer my order would take. He was super polite, apologized right away, and even offered to give me something while they sorted it out. But before he could follow through, the woman interrupted him, completely cut off his offer, and told me, "It's coming." This wasn't done in a kind or understanding way or even a matter of fact manner, she was dismissive, very annoyed and for me, this reactive response was very confusing and didn't make sense. I almost wanted to ask her if she was okay because the way she had cut him off and was reactively talking to me didn't make sense. I let it go. Then, to my shock, she served three more orders for people who ordered after me. Another 10 minutes goes by... At this point, my parking meter was about to run out, so I politely asked if they could prioritize my order. She immediately snapped at me, claiming I was "snapping my fingers at her"--which I absolutely did not do. I tried explaining that I'd been waiting for almost an hour, but instead of resolving the issue, things escalated. The cook, an older man, jumped in and treated me like I was the one in the wrong. He even said they'd call security to escort me out! All I did was calmly explain my frustration after being ignored for so long. Eventually, the woman offered me a refund, but the cook bizarrely asked me to leave the area while it was processed. I honestly don't understand how this all got so out of hand. They clearly made a mistake, but instead of owning up to it, I got treated like I was causing a scene when all I did was ask for my order. This was one of the most disrespectful and frustrating experiences I've ever had. If you're in a rush or just want to be treated with basic courtesy, don't go here. The lack of professionalism and accountability was shocking. To the management: 1. The woman working that day needs to be held accountable. Her dismissive attitude and inability to take responsibility for her mistakes were unacceptable. She needs to be fired. You cannot for the love of god, have someone so reactive at the front lines of a stressful job. You just can't. She snapped.... I get that it is hard, but customer service doesn't mean you snap at the customer before they even can get their sentence out. This isn't your private home or people you know that you can just treat so poorly. We are strangers paying for service and food. -I felt like I was her kid or family members she was verbally abusing She was snapping. Wow 2. The cook also needs serious training on how to handle customer complaints. His behavior escalated the situation unnecessarily. 3. On a positive note, the male cashier was polite and professional throughout this ordeal. He understood what customer service should look like. This happened on 12/15/24 at 11:30 AM. I've already emailed Corporate about it because I feel it's important they know what's going on. I thought I ordered the burger but glad I got this because thier scrambled eggs are so damn good--so creamy! And the brioche buns are soft...just everything about this sandwich tastes so heavenly. It looks simple but there's enough going on in there to bring all the wonderful taste and texture together. TRUFFLE HASHBROWN - $4.25 mini seasoned hashbrowns tossed in duck fat and finished with truffle rosemary salt. Vegetarian Option Available. There's 6 nugget sized stash browns that is jam packed with truffle flavor...and its quite salty actually! Maybe I had an extra salty pack, but I enjoyed these little mini bite sized hash browns. Glad I actually taste the truffle! SIDE SALAD - $3.85 wild arugula dressed in a red wine vinaigrette showered with manchego cheese. Got this only to offset all the shades of brown food I'm eating. Really glad they have this actually. The price is quite good for the amount of arugula is in it! Next time I'll have to add avocado to it...for almost double the cost, haha. For the amount of attention that Eggslut gets, I think it's definitely overrated. Sure, the egg sandwich is good, but it's just an egg sandwich. And for $10, I was disappointed. They add chipotle ketchup to both the top and bottom bun, and I personally thought it drowned out all the other flavors. Now for the positives... the bacon was great! To those of you that live in the greater Los Angeles area, "Eggslut" is well-known to many of the locals. It has been one of the top fast food breakfast places in Southern California as well as internationally in countries such as South Korea, Singapore, Japan, United Kingdom, and Kuwait. This happens to be the 2nd time I have been to one of their locations (with the first being at the Beverly Center back in October 2018). The location I am reviewing is adjacent to the Glendale Galleria shopping center in Glendale, CA. Located directly on the corner of S. Brand Blvd. & E. Colorado St. in the heart of Glendale, this particular Eggslut has been in operation since 2017. Keep in mind that they do have limited hours being open from 8am-2pm but they are open 7 days a week for your convenience. Parking in this area can be a bit challenging as this is a very busy retail area with an abundance of restaurants nearby. Fortunately, I found paid parking only 1/2 block away as I arrived around 9:45am during the morning of Thursday 4/21/2022. As I made my way inside, it actually wasn't too busy. However, a few minutes later, several large groups of people showed up so I guess you can say it was my lucky day. Their main food choices are breakfast sandwiches (all of which are filled with their cage free eggs) that come with a variety of fillings (bacon, steak, sausage, cheeses, veggies, & sauces) and a few sides such as hash browns & salads. I ended up ordering the "Bacon, Egg, & Cheese" sandwich which included hardwood smoked bacon, cage-free over medium eggs, cheddar cheese and chipotle ketchup in a warm brioche bun. I also added a side of hash browns. Within a few short minutes, my sandwich and sides were ready! And one really cool thing is that they gave my +1 and I complimentary freshly squeezed orange juices! This was really awesome as the juice really accompanied our breakfast meals. One minor drawback of the sandwiches at Eggslut; they are definitely more on the salty side. Not a big deal but it is definitely something I wouldn't recommend eating on a daily basis. Otherwise, other than being a little bit on the messy side, the breakfast here is tasty and delicious. Overall, I will continue to support this small business as the staff at this location was professional and courteous during my most recent experience. Above average food, excellent prices, and wonderful service are enough reasons to give this a respectable rating. My rating for the Glendale "Eggslut"; a generous four-stars. read more
