This is my go-to regular spot for lunch. There are other places to grab a quick bite nearby, but this quaint little cafe tucked in the corner of an office building is the definition of hospitality. I've never been to a restaurant before where a customer can call the person behind the counter by name, order "the usual", and actually receive it. It's like something out of a sitcom. Luz behind the counter cooks and serves delicious food with the kind of service that makes you feel right at home. Try the beef bowl or the curry rice soup. I was craving just a simple lunch and decided to go to Urban Cafe since it was across the street from my work. I decided to get the turkey, bacon, and Swiss on sourdough and a bag of chips. The service was lovely, the two ladies behind the counter were friendly and sweet to all the customers coming in. They certainly salvaged what I was missing from the meal. On that note, the sandwich was good, exactly what I expected and a filling portion. My only complaint was that the sandwich and chips came out to around $15, which seemed a bit ridiculous for what it was. I honestly would've given 3 stars if it wasn't for the service and convenience of location. I likely won't be back unless I'm in a desperate rush and can't walk down the street for something better. I come here at least once a week if not more. I've never had a problem with their food or service, everything is great. I love their Tuna sandwich, it's always fresh. During cold weather I always get their Roman soup, it's sooo delicious. I call ahead, and my food is always ready. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Man, I ain't EVER gonna be able to get a chicken salad sandwich. It's my bad, though. I keep coming at 2 pm after the lunch rush has savaged the place and all that's left is scraps. They didn't even have croissants left when I got there. Damn, that was disappointing. Can you imagine how good that sandwich would've been? Chicken salad and avocado on croissant. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Instead I had to slum it with an egg salad sandwich with avocado on sourdough bread. It was tasty, but it weren't no chicken salad on croissant. Next time I'm going to just sleep in front of the place like it was Black Friday or something. You know, like how people show up three months in advance to wait in line in front of Best Buy so they can save like $300 on a big screen TV. You shouldn't make fun of those people. $300 is a shit ton of money. I love soup. It's one of the best lunch foods ever, its cheap and full of flavor. It's also the most stupidly marked up food items ever so its hsrd to find it at restaurants for a good value. Enter Urban Cafe III with an incredible $4.50 cup of Chiken Curry soup the size of my entire fist. Its essentially a lunch stand in the lobby of a building. Its not the most appealing place in the world to get lunch but its the best soup flavor to value ive had in this city thus far. read more

This place is great. May look nondescript , but the lady behind the counter making home made chicken noodle soup is wonderful as is her soup Nice lady to talk to. You will add this to your list of go-to lunch spots There really isn't anything bad to say about this place. The food is good (pic of menu coming soon). They specialize in sandwiches, salads, and soup. I usually get the chicken breast sandwich with the soup of the day or the tuna, egg, & chicken salad. Both great options. On top of the food, the staff is great. The women who work there are extremely nice and make you feel like you're their special customer. Great food wonderful people and the best ramen noodles I have ever had, try it with medium spice and chicken. The homemade soups and salad dressings are a must, the sesame dressing is out of this world good and the ranch is made daily and is so yummy. Been coming to this cafe for 2 yrs and I'm always happy with the service. Very friendly and clean place, they have good food specials. My number 1 favorite to get is the chicken and rice curry soup. They also have this Korean beef blow and that's pretty good. I usually get that with out the lettuce and keep the onions. If you're looking for something cold the Italian sub is great. The prices are pretty reasonable for the area. The only thing I wish they would change is the minimum on your card $5. Not much but if you just want a drink or candy you have to spend $5. read more

I ordered a Chinese chIcken salad and it was the worst salad I ever had. Boiled chicken a lot of lettuce and two pieces of carrots and the salad dressing is nothing like a Chinese chicken salad dressing. I only give 3 stars because of the friendly stuff. I work around the area near Urban Café and they are so consistent! I usually come in the mornings for breakfast. They have a good deal where you can get a breakfast sandwich and coffee :) The food is very affordable and well cooked. I am a fan of their chicken curry soup for lunch.
