I've heard good things about the Waikiki location so I was excited for a new brekkie option in our neighborhood when this location finally opened. We arrived before 9 on a Saturday morning and were told the wait would be 10 minutes. It turned out to be at least double that wait time but that was fine, no big deal. The hubby & I order, 2 coffees, an order of eggs benedict, strawberry pancakes and a side of bacon. Yes, that gives us fat ass status but in our defense, when trying someplace new, we like variety. Coffee was decent and replenished at regular intervals. The pancakes were OK as far as taste and texture. The whipped cream mountain on top is redunk. We should have known better and asked for it on the side. I didn't like that the strawberries were frozen in the middle so I pushed them aside with the whipped cream and just used the guava syrup instead. That was muuuuuch better. Eggs on the benny were a tad over cooked, not oozy and runny how they're supposed to be and both of us didn't like the hamburger bun like bread that was used in place of the "normal" English muffin. The potatoes that came with were yummy. Our side of bacon was OK except that it was $6 for 5 slices. If the bacon itself doesn't give you a heart attack, the price most definitely could. Service was good. Our waiter was cordial and efficient. Food was brought out quickly, waters refilled and he did check to see how we were doing. Basic but good. Overall, it wasn't horrible, based on what we tried but Eggs 'n Things just didn't offer anything that was worth us making another visit. Especially when we paid pretty darn near close to $50(inclusive of tip) for brekkie for 2 of us. Oh well, we tried... read more

After a week of skipped breakfasts, I was in the mood for some fluffy pancakes. The closest and most convenient food establishment to me was Eggs 'n Things (Ala Moana). With their specialty being in eggs, my boyfriend and I took a chance and went there anyway. It sounded better than waiting hours at a trendy brunch spot. Pulling into the parking lot, we were able to find a spot pretty quickly, probably because the other stores/eateries that share the same block weren't open or at their peak times. However, Eggs 'n Things were moderately busy. It was around 9:30 AM and the estimated wait time for a party of two was half an hour. There was a reasonable amount of outdoor seating for the waiting area. We got in 15 minutes earlier than anticipated. Inside was very bright, sunny, local, and a bit cramped. If you were seated at a table, you could practically hear every word spoken at the tables neighboring yours. The servers were very friendly and attentive, despite the rush. The table was stocked with a variety of condiments ranging from Tobasco to coconut syrup. My boyfriend and I decided to share the chocolate chip pancakes. It took about 15 minutes to receive our food. Priced at $10.25 for five medium-sized pancakes, it tasted alright. It looked pretty with the mountain of whipped cream and dusted with powdered sugar. However, the pancakes were a tad bit dry and the chocolate chips weren't evenly distributed, so it was too chocolatey and decadent for breakfast. It wasn't the worst pancakes, but as a pancake connoisseur, I wasn't totally satisfied. The overall experience at Eggs 'n Things was rather pleasant. The wait, the service, and the happy environment would definitely bring me back again, but next time, I'll order a simpler pancake or just stick with eggs. read more

Eggs 'n Things Ala Moana - Chocolate chip pancakes - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Personally, it's not the best breakfast/brunchI've had, however, it's a good place to go if you have the pancakes and omelette cravings. Eggs n' Things is mediocre breakfast food at best. But you're getting overpriced mediocrity. Ordered the waffles here, but to my disappointment, they were a giant pancake with crusty grooves and a chewy center. It even cut and tasted like a pancake....which is not surprising because they're probably using the same batter. IMO, I prefer belgium waffles...the type of waffles that MOST breakfast place serve. At least they offer a kama'aina discount. read more

Boyfriend got the Hawaiian loco moco and I got the regular. Paid $25 and the portions were super small. Gravy had no flavor either. I should have believed the yelp reviews. read more

Save your time and money and just cook yourself a good breakfast! This place is always crowded!

Worst service ever for crappy over price over cooked and under prepared food. Rude host, rude servers. What happened to the good service that used to be here? Now because they service all these tourist they forget about taking care of the local residents. Think twice before you come. Don't say I didn't warn you!!! If I can give them zero stars I would! read more

Good food, good service! I really enjoyed it their, i felt very welcomed. the water was always refilled. Will definetly eat there again.

Poor quality food and service. Went for our usual furikake ahi and eggs, but my husband decided to try the chicken cutlet w/ mushroom and onion gravy for $14. That was a huge mistake! The cutlet was thin, tasteless, and crumbled in your mouth because of the processed consistency. When the waiter asked how our food was and I commented on how unhappy we were with the cutlet, he just said, "Oh really?" and walked away. We won't be eager to return. read more

Neither my husband nor I will visit this restaurant again. Slow service, waitress bumped into me (no apology), cashier person services person who is in line after us and we even told her we were first... no apology again... just some excuse about taking their check first because they don't need change... food was mediocre. Service was quite poor. read more

Went here on a Sunday because my friend was craving breakfast food, but not at the breakfast time. The only place I could think of that serves breakfast all day, is this place. Arrived around 10 or so. When we arrived we were told the wait would be around 30 minutes. 30 minutes later we checked to see how much longer we had to wait and were told another 30 minutes. We were a little annoyed because it was a crazy hot day, and waiting in the sun just is not the business. I expected it to be busy, as it was a Sunday and prime eating hours. Anyways, we were finally seated, and since we waited so long, we were starving. All the food we got was just...okay. The only thing worth talking about is the cheesecake stuffed french toast. That dish was very good, but that was about the only dish we actually thought was delicious. Everything else was something I could have probably made myself. Overall, this place wasn't worth the wait. The food was okay, but nothing special. The service was friendly and fast. I just wouldn't come back here again. read more

Not impressed. Was told by the server not to order the strawberry crepes because "no one likes them". Also, the drinks vary from location to location. Food was whatever. Bacon was extremely salty. We will not be going back. read more

I heard about this place and wanted to try it. The food is so so, nothing that is mind blowing. Service was good but the prices were too high for what we got. read more

Total waste of time and money. I was so excited to come back here after great memories back in college about 10 years ago. Boy things have changed and for the worst. After waiting nearly 1 hour (and watching others who came later get seated far earlier), I was ready to order. I remember massive waffles and pancakes but was shocked to get over priced paper thin waffles! Apparently they think by putting on a high pile of whipped cream that I would be fooled into thinking there was something great about these things. I would rather eat eggo waffles. And the strawberries were disgusting (previously frozen). I will NEVER come here again! I would recommend Kaila Cafe instead or even Zippys. This place has gone down hill. Do NOT waste your time or money here!! read more

Food is ok...but wayy overpriced. I ordered a side of bacon without checking the price and got a shocker of 6 bucks on the bill for 4 skinny strips. Also, macadamia pancakes nuts are just tossed on top, not cooked in the pancake. Kinda lame. Liked their OJ. read more

This place was pretty much as the other reviews stated. Slow service and they forget about you after you order. The food is decent but the price is high ( at least for what our getting). The waiters type your order into iPod touches so instead of looking at you they are staring at what might as well have been a phone destroying any chance of real service. Overall I went to check out the hype and i will never go again! Yet another fail breakfast place. read more

Came in around noon on a Thursday and was happy to get seated right away because my boyfriend and I were hungry! (There were about 4 other open tables as well at this time so even more people could've come and been seated quickly also) The girl at the register was very friendly and greeted us right away with a smile and a hello when we walked in. Service-wise everything was fast and friendly and that's where the two stars come in at. It's the food that was lacking. I ordered the tomato and cheese omelet and potatoes and my boyfriend had the chicken fried steak w/brown gravy and the pancakes. The potatoes tasted like frozen, cubed, somewhat coated/breaded(?) potatoes that were just thrown in a deep fryer. (In their defense you can pay an extra 1.95 to have "premium potatoes" sautéed in olive oil which probably means real potatoes freshly cut and cooked vs. frozen...now I know!) On to the omelet, which was SUPER thin (is this really 3 eggs?) and greasy. Yes, there was a ton of cheese and tomatoes on it, but it was overkill and just out of balance with the egg to everything else ratio. My boyfriend seemed like, ah, it's ok, but then later felt sick and was blaming the brown gravy. The food just really needs less grease overall. I walked out of there telling my boyfriend ummm, yeah, never again. There are many more spots where you pay less or the same and get better quality food. Yes, it's a tourist spot and the last time I ate at an eggs n things was years ago at the old Waikiki one. I was so hungover I didn't clearly remember what I ate and I was so distracted by how close everyone was to everyone else at that location. This new location has separate tables and chairs where you aren't "eating with strangers" like at the old Waikiki location. Unless they change the food, I wouldn't recommend this spot to a friend even though our actual service was perfect. Come to my house...I can cook you a better breakfast for half the price. Haha! read more

Don't even order the hot water they charge u a dollar for a cup of water can't believe it. Well maybe never her charged from other restaurant and this is awful service I guess. The food just fine takes a whole to get the order and long wait. Just bad read more

Paniolo Loco Moco is bomb. Parking is still difficult because of all the construction that's still going on. You may want to park in the mall then walk down depending on how busy the lot is. Wait time can be long depending on the day as well. Haven't really tried much else besides the loco moco and a couple types of pancakes. But food is good. Nice people. Tourist and local-friendly. read more

Nice and clean long line but didnt have to wait too long kinda pricey for breakfast almost $4 to add bananas to my pancakes i can buy couple lbs for that. I had eggs Benedict which had a generous amount of meat but other than that there was nothing special pancakes were regular overall i would have to say its alright nothing earth shattering read more

It's really a 3 star place, but gave an extra star because they have a Kama'aina discount. Otherwise, the food is just ok, nothing great, but nothing bad either. Lots of tourists seem to go here, but had a few locals as well. Breakfast on a weekday is not too busy. I'd go back again if I was in the area. read more

Food is always perfect. BEST PANCAKES EVER. Beautiful restaurant, extremely clean. Homey feeling, perfect for a typical Sunday morning breakfast. However, I've had too many occasions with bad service from our waitress'. Most of the time they're good but there's at least two bad apples that I've had many times here. read more

This was our first breakfast stop on vacation to Oahu and it definitely did not disappoint. The service was great. Our waiter Travis was so friendly and he never let my coffee or water run low. We both ordered omelettes with pancakes. I don't think I've had a better omelette anywhere else. The pancakes were so light and fluffy. Travis talked us into the whipped cream and I'm SO glad he did! It was unbelievably light and the perfect topping. I knocked one star off for the price. It was $50 for two of us after the tip. Although we did get a ton of food, I wouldn't say it was a $50 breakfast. That being said, I would definitely like to go here again before the end of our trip! read more

This was my first visit to this place as I was given a Gift Certificate for Christmas and decided to try something new. The wait was about 30min for two people, as was expected since I've seen a line outside every time I pass by, but it was not a big deal since we got to plan our food "attack". We were finally sat amidst a homely/ modern decor and was greeted by our friendly waitress. I ordered a corned beef hash and eggs dish with pancakes as my fiancee ordered Eggs Benedict. The meal was decent and it was time to pay for the bill. I presented my $50.00 gift certificate for a $24.50 bill. The cashier notified me that I would have to use the full amount and that no voucher would be given to compensate for the remaining balance. For one, that is a terrible policy in which you must use the full amount in one transaction or lose the whole thing, but that was not what ruined my experience. I was willing to compromise by ordering takeout for the difference when the Manager, Ian, rudely stepped in and told us that we should just pay for the meal out of pocket and come back with a bigger group to use the $50.00. Ian was greatly lacking in customer service and it is a wonder how he became a manager as he is a poor problem solver. So those of you planning on obtaining a gift certificate.. think twice on your amount. Other than that, the food was decent. Hopefully you won't have to deal with Ian. *** Update... Ok, spoke to an actual Manger whom knew good customer service and cleared things up the right way. Now I'm satisfied and would recommend this place to other's. Kudos to Robbie, sorry if I misspelled your name. read more

Was craving for breakfast foods, decided to try this place. Especially since there's always a long line. I ordered the corn beef hash w/ 2 eggs and pancakes. What... toast has to be ordered separately?! $ 9.95 for a mediocre plate and to have to pay an extra $2.95 for a side of toast...well...I passed on that. The corn beef hash not only looked like it was straight out of a can but tasted like it as well. The pancakes were pretty good but then again maybe because I overloaded it with butter and syrup. Eggs and things, I'm not impressed and will not be coming back here again for breakfast. read more

Was well overdue to try eggs n things, haven't been to the other locations but loved piikoi. Interior really cute n clean, sunny yellow walls, dark wood, but on to the important details... Really good pancakes and crepes. Pancakes fluffy and flavorful, crepes had good density and didn't fall apart. Big portions, just had the leftovers for breakfast today, (should have bought some of their guava syrup for home though). Staff very friendly and welcoming, they also have kids menu and crayons. read more

I have to admit that I don't get the hype with this place. I heard so many good things about this place and expected a much better breakfast than I got. Very disapppointing! First big turn off was having to wait outside and smell the sewer like odors eminating from an unknown nearby source. Disgusting and not what you want to be smelling before you eat. Food is very average at best, very over priced, and the wait is long. Should have gone to the Original Pancake House down the road. Oh well, you live and learn. Lol! read more

Tourist trap. Avoid at all costs unless you want to overpay for breakfast. Ordered banana pancakes that had the worst tasting bananas I've ever eaten. They offered to change the order to French toast but it was just a little better. My other half ordered the loco moco and couldn't finish it. The fruits used on the dishes are not fresh according to the staff. The staff were great but unfortunately the food is why we are there. Save your money unless you're a tourist. read more

Thanks Michael for responding, however it wasn't so much that we would have sit with someone it was more how it was said to us. It was rudely said and it was like he was put out by our request. Also just fyi the dining room was not even full and there was many seats available and no one waiting to be seated. Our request really wasn't unreasonable nor were we demanding. I respect all business's and their prerogative to do business however they choose. Either way I guess from your comments, that the way your business and employees choose to conduct themselves is not in keeping with the way we would like to be treated. So with that being said we will not be patronizing your business, because we do not agree with your business practices. Anyway no hard feelings and once again thank you for your response. read more

Other than the fact that we did not have to wait long for our table in the morning, my overall experience was not at all impressive. The menu had great variety and very interesting items such as sour cream strawberry pancakes/waffles. However, the prices were insanely high. I ordered a chocolate chip waffle with whipped cream and my friend ordered pancakes. Within the 20-30 minutes that we were waiting for our food, our water was not filled until we asked multiple times. My coffee, which was ordered before the meal, was not delivered to me in a decent amount of time. When our food FINALLY came to our table, the first thing that we noticed was the humangous mountain of whipped cream topping each of our plates. It was as if someone took a tub of Cool Whip and dumped it on a waffle that was no thicker than an Ego freezer waffle. For $12.50, I concluded that the waffles were not worth it. You would get your money's worth if you had a whipped cream craving. But then again, you could go to the store and buy a box of Ego's and Cool Whip for the amount that I paid for this waffle. My friend's pancakes, however, had the same amount of whipped cream but also a decent amount of pancakes. The pancakes, in my opinion, are worth more than the waffles. After dealing with the disappointment of the meal, we left the restaurant paying Kama'aina rate of 5% off. It was not much, but every penny deducted would bring more sense to the value of the food and service. +: Quality syrups (maple, coconut, guava), decent pancake portion, short morning lines. -: Slow/poor service, food not worth super high prices. read more
