We typically come here every year while on vacation, but after this experience, we won't be returning. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, which is pretty typical and wasn't an issue. The problem was that it took over an hour for our food to arrive. During that time, we watched three tables that were seated after us receive their meals before we did. It became pretty clear that our order had likely been forgotten. I completely understand that mistakes happen. If our waiter had simply apologized and been honest about it, we would have understood. Instead, he told us the kitchen was "backed up," even though we could clearly see other tables being served. We ultimately decided to leave after watching two tables that were seated after us finish their meals, pay, and leave before we had even received our food. We paid for our drinks before leaving and never received an apology. On top of that, some of the manager's responses to negative reviews come across as dismissive and disrespectful. After our experience, it's not hard to see why the service seems to have gone downhill. read more

I had to have an early breakfast and was the only customer for a while. Bill was my waiter and he immediately made me feel comfortable bringing me coffee and being friendly. There were lots of options on the menu but I went with the veggie omelette and it was great. I have to say the best part of the meal was the waiter Bill checking in and making me laugh. I used to come here years ago with my family when my daughter was very young. It was always crowded in the summer mornings which showed it was so popular for a reason. Had to come back after many years when I visited during the spring. First, the prices did go up. The menu seemed to have a lot to choose from. I ordered the basic eggs with French toast and sausage. My friend ordered what she thought would be an omelette, which usually has cheese inside. Well they put the wrong type of cheese on, and the cheese was on top? Never seen that. It was changed but with the cheese on top still. The food was very average, nothing to be excited about to want to come back again anytime soon. Our waitress was busy listening to a customer talk her ear off when I was hoping to start my order and at least have a drink order put in. I needed my morning coffee. Had to wait as the customer gossiping was more important than waiting on other customers. I would look for another breakfast place. We went to one before that was far superior, so wanted to go different and back to past of good food and service. Guess it sure has changed. The Egg and I is not the same as it was which was sad but times can improve restaurants or they stay the same or they change,but not for the better. Most horrible experience I have ever experienced. We were told it was a 35 minute wait. We had two young children and that was a reasonable wait. After 40 minutes of waiting the hostess said she told me 45 minutes which was a lie. At 50 minutes we were still waiting and the waitress couldn't give us a time when we would be seated. The children were hungry and crying by this time so we left. I would never recommend this place. Worst service ever! So good. Very cute and clean in there, however it can get pretty loud and cramped, but the food is worth it. I got the stuffed french toast; something I've never seen before, and I'm just mind blown. It was so good, had so much blueberry flavor, and was very filling. The coffee is great, the mugs are cute, and again, everything was very clean. The staff is nice, however it felt like the first server we got forgot about us when it was time to get the check. The next waiter was much more lively and fast, which made up for the day before. My wife and I visited on a busy Saturday morning and had to wait 5-10 minutes. Not a big deal. I ordered the king size breakfast which consisted of 3 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, and 2 pancakes. My wife ordered the coconut French toast with a side fruit salad. They brought out two slices of French toast with my meal by accident. I sent it back. I'm glad I did. The pancakes were excellent. The batter was nice and sweet and worth the exchange. My eggs were scrambled and cooked to perfection. My wife really enjoyed her French toast. It was smothered in coconut shavings. The fruit salad was fresh. As coffee snobs, we would say the coffee was good. We loved the yellow mugs the coffee was served in but they were not for sale. Our service was good but not friendly. The waiter always seemed to be in a rush. You pay your bill at the register and they weren't exactly warm and fuzzy either. OBTW, it's CASH only. There was an ATM in the restaurant. We were in town this weekend and decided to pay a visit to Egg & I, as we had a good experience last time we came. When we arrived, there were a decent amount of people outside waiting. When we put our name in, we were given a 'buzzer' to alert us that our table was ready, which I think is a nice feature. The hostess did make a strange comment because we put our name in while holding coffee (which we wouldn't have brought in when it was time to eat) but oh well. When our buzzer went off, my partner went to put our coffees into the car. I went to get the table and was greeted by an angry man with tattoos who didn't seem pleased that our party wasn't complete. He sat me with a scowl and didn't say much else. Very unfriendly and probably the worst part of the whole experience. Next, we were greeted by our cagey waitress, who asked if we were having coffee. We declined and she took the mugs away. About 15 minutes later, she came back for our drink and food order. I got the steak benedict, which was mediocre at best. The hollandaise was VERY thick and tasted like it was the bagged mix from Sysco and the steak tasted like it was probably "Steak-Ums". My partner got the Homemade Hash, which he enjoyed but was not blown away by. Portion sizes were okay. The one thing I can say was really very good were the home fries. You bring your tab up to the counter to pay. When my partner did this, the hostess scolded him for standing in front of the "wrong side" of the counter. The whole entry area is a clustered mess. Overall, mediocre food with a very unfriendly staff. Wasn't a good experience. If you're hungry and looking to fill up, it gets the job done. Otherwise, not worth waiting for a table. read more

LOL NEW UPDATE: Please stop saying you did takeout the first time I asked. I had already asked your cashier AND your hostess to do takeout and they had flat out refused. Despite the fact that your FB says you offer takeout. It was only when I asked to speak to a manager and asked YOU for takeout that you said yes. This business puts customers last. First, though it's 2024, they only take cash. Second, though it says on their Facebook page and menu that they do take out, they don't .So... they refused to do takeout, and when we asked to be seated a few minutes before my partner could arrive, so we could order for him and he could start eating as soon as he got there, they refused that too. The reason: because then they'd have to do it for everyone. (Like it's middle school and anyone would know). The ultimately grudgingly decided to do takeout for us. In the end I said "You do understand that I am here to give you money, right?" I guess I no longer understand how businesses work. But a business that does not appreciate you, or your money, or work to be at all accommodating, is not one where I want to spend my hard-earned money. EDIT TO RESPOND TO COMMENT: I did look at the FB page. It's how I knew to come with cash. That's fair: I'd rather the business get my money and not the cc companies. However, your FB page ALSO says you do takeout, which was what we wanted in the first place. We only suggested the ordering and waiting as a workaround since you had many, many empty tables by that point. However, the bigger problem is that you offer takeout on your Facebook page, so we made our morning food plan (we are staying across the street, and there are sadly few options without having to walk very far), wanted to take advantage of the one nice beach day we would have while we were here. Popular local breakfast joint. It was pretty crowded around 10:30 but moved quickly. We had about a 15 minute wait which was perfect to review the menu and of course check yelp reviews for guidance. Our waiter was Jason who was very personable and nice. He made our experience even more pleasant with some nice compliments and recommendations. My wife ordered the blueberry pancake with a side of hash browns. Jason brought some fresh whipped cream to top it off. The pancake was fluffy and delicious. My wife had the blueberries added inside (you can also order them on the side as a spread to top it). What really made the difference was the blueberry flavored butter they bring on the side. Outstanding! For the first time in my life I ordered an eggs benedict. I tried the Irish Benedict which came with corned beef and hash underneath the poached egg. Wow, simply wow! So much flavor going on. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and when I broke the gentle yolk it poured slowly all over the corned beef and muffin. The hollandaise sauce was a bit much for me but it wasn't bad. An exceptional meal otherwise. Highly recommended. When she asked for a table for two, the hostess asked if the other person was here yet. Then, right after, sat one man at a table for six all by himself no questioning about the rest of his party. Staff are your first opportunity for personal interaction. Treat a guest rude and it may well ruin the whole experience. There's nothing redeeming about this place. Hum drum food. A few issues. First I ordered sunny side up eggs and got them over easy. So the waitress didn't listen to my order. I got the breakfast that comes (and advertised in the menu) with 3 eggs, 3 bacon and 3 sausages and French toast. When the meal came it was missing a sausage. The waitress and manager said that they went to a thicker sausage and that's why I only got 2. Wait I say, the menu clearly said 3 sausages. You are charging me for 3 sausages. They said that's the way the owner wants it. They didn't even reduce the price of the breakfast. I would definitely NOT go back. Skip it is my recommendation. read more
