We worked with EDR to completely remodel a duplex into a single family home that hadn't been touched in 60 years. Eddie and Sarmad did a fantastic job in delivering the project. From the start of the design project, they used high quality sub contractors for design, engineering, and all the trades in the house. Fernando, our project manager was incredible. He approached the project with a keen eye for details and took total ownership over the sub contractors. He would stop by almost every night to ensure that the subs were performing their work and not leaving or damaging any other contractors' work. Sarmad is a problem solver. He sees an issue and thinks through how to solve it, then presents clear options to choose from. Throughout the process, we were not surprised by unanticipated expenses - all changes were clearly explained and we had the option to make changes via clear change orders. EDR uses Buildertrend for all program management and billing, which made payments, change approvals, and scheduling tracking seamless. While this sounds like a basic requirement in 2026, not all contractors use these services which just adds friction to the process. We couldn't recommend EDR more for the quality of work on our house, the schedule execution, care for detail, and just taking care of our project. Along the way, we never felt nickel & dimed, and the value of their services definitely exceeded our expectations. read more

We didn't end up hiring Eddie, Sarmad and the EDR crew but based on the quality of their work and their honest and straightforward professionalism, we would definitely consider working with them in the future. We visited a gorgeous property they remodeled and it was designed impeccably and the quality of work also looked very good. It was also clear how much the owners loved Eddie and Sarmad and let us spend a long time visiting their home. We're grateful to Eddie and Sarmad for their patience with us as doing a first time ground up build is a huge investment for us and we had a lot of questions and concerns. They also went above and beyond their normal bid process when we asked for a more detailed bid for our budgeting purposes. Highly recommend reaching out to EDR! read more

5 Stars: Highest Recommendation I give EDR Design Build the highest possible rating. They delivered on time, within budget, and with exceptional craftsmanship, even as my project scope expanded by my choice and not because anything was suggested or upsold. Their honesty, integrity, communication, and follow-through were outstanding, and I always felt like a true partner throughout the remodel. If I could give more than 5 stars in every category, I absolutely would. This was my first renovation and I was very nervous, but after researching and interviewing multiple contractors, I chose EDR Design Build for their expertise, communication style, respect for budget, and quality. They exceeded every expectation. Eddie was personable, authentic, flexible, and incredibly collaborative. He supported my evolving vision and worked seamlessly with both the vendors I wanted to use and their own excellent team. Sarmad is a true craftsman and problem-solver who was always reachable and focused on achieving the best structural and aesthetic outcome. When we discovered that part of my 100-year-old home had no foundation, he handled it calmly, strategically, and with complete integrity. He also restored my 50-year-old skylight into a beautiful, durable feature that preserved its original charm. Sarmad and Eddie treat their team and vendors with genuine respect, and the quality of work shows through in every detail. There was never a moment when we stopped by that people were not working. Everyone was focused, professional, and they were always reachable. Because of their vision, craftsmanship, expertise, and strong network of wonderful vendors and crew, our home was ultimately featured in an online magazine and selected for a local home and garden tour benefiting charity. This was a complete surprise to us, and we were proud to give full credit to this amazing team that delivered beyond our expectations for our forever home. I added a few photos of before and the rest of our home after the remodel. Weekly communication, in-person walkthroughs, and the Buildertrend app made every step transparent. I always knew exactly what was owed, what remained, and what was scheduled next. The final result exceeded anything I imagined and still does not feel real. What stands out most is their accountability after completion. Even once my home was turnkey, they stayed responsive, helpful, and familiar with every detail. I would choose EDR Design Build again without hesitation. read more

We worked with EDR to build an extension. We met with about half a dozen contractors before signing with EDR. We looked for a project manager who was knowledgeable and to the point. We liked Sarmad's communication style - methodical and efficient, no extra words. Sarmad was incredibly efficient at managing our project. He made sure to schedule inspections right as we reached each checkpoint in the construction, so every day was optimized. As a result, our project from demolition to completion took just about 4 months. One aspect of our project that we worked closely with Sarmad on was to customize a computer server closet. Specifically, we wanted the closet to be soundproofed and have its own temperature control. Sarmad was very accommodating in our requests to install soundproofing insulation, and even suggested QuietRock drywall to enhance soundproofing. We also worked with the team to install conduits throughout the extension for future cable runs. Throughout the process, Sarmad was responsive to our questions and our requests. read more

Back in 2021, we started our journey of a full home remodel with EDR. The small team was great and extremely hands-on throughout the process. It took us a bit over a year to get to the demolition stage, and then a bit under a year to do the complete remodel. We took a 1959 built 1000 sqft house and turned it into a 2600 2 story house; we completely changed everything except some of the walls; all the exterior, all the interior, moved the kitchen, moved the bathrooms, moved the garage (slightly), added a second story, redid the front porch. As there always are during projects like these, there were some issues we ran into. This is where EDR shined; they took charge of every issue we ran into, and did their best to deal with everything that came up without nickel and diming us to death. If their team made an error, it was simply fixed and no charge to us. If it was something unforeseen, we worked together to minimize the expense as much as possible. I still can't believe we pulled this project off; we lived in this house for 20 years and it's always been a dream. It's been almost 2 years since completion and every time I set foot on the stairs, a part of me is still in awe that they even exist here! Thanks so much to Eddie and Sarmad for making this happen! read more

We started working with EDR in late 2022 when we decided to remodel our home. What began as a small addition quickly turned into a full demo and new construction -- and we couldn't be more grateful that EDR was by our side through it all. From day one, the EDR team impressed us with their exceptional customer service, comprehensive offerings, thoughtful design and space planning, quick responsiveness, and most of all, their unwavering commitment to giving us our forever home. It genuinely felt like they treated us as family. A huge shoutout to the owners, Eddie and Sarmad, their amazing superintendent Fernando, and the rest of their crew. You're not just getting their in-house talent -- you're also gaining access to an extended team of top-tier professionals like space planner Ayelet Mendelovich and designer Tal Goldstein, whose visionary input brought our ideas to life in the most beautiful way. One standout example of their generosity: when we made a last-minute decision to raise the ceilings during framing, EDR didn't nickel and dime us -- they made it happen at no extra cost. Most people we know who've gone through construction projects were blown away that we found such kind and honest builders. Another big win was their speed and quality. While many construction projects drag on, EDR completed our entire home in just 8-9 months, keeping us involved at every step and showing us the top-notch work of their skilled subcontractors. Even when we (the clients!) inadvertently caused some hiccups, Sarmad went above and beyond to help us resolve them smoothly. In short: EDR delivers a premium product, a personalized experience, and a home you'll absolutely LOVE. We can't recommend them highly enough! read more

EDR Design Build is amazing! The execution was seamless. They took care of everything--from the plans and permits to helping us choose materials and completing the remodel. They guided us through every step of the process and were great with communication. We interviewed a few companies. While EDR was comparable in price to other design-build firms, they stood out for being far more knowledgeable and communicative. Hiring them was a no-brainer. Sarmad was incredibly responsive and always ready to answer any questions or clarify details. I absolutely recommend them to all my friends and family!!!! read more

We are giving EDR a 5-star review because of their high standards for customer service, workmanship, and clear and efficient communications. Any issues that arose were quickly addressed by the team and we are completely satisfied with the end product as well as the positive partnership through the entire project. EDR assisted in the outside and interior design of our home addition, and they oversaw the building and permitting. The entire process was very efficient with no long delays in the progress. The EDR team truly helped our vision come true, even with smaller items, and also helped make better decisions along the way with considerations of engineering aspects and long-term value, with low home maintenance for the future. We highly recommend working with EDR they bring high value, quality workmanship, and excellent customer service and was a pleasure to work with. read more

We had a positive experience with Eddie from the design team, contractor team and project management with our bathroom remodel. Each team is expert in their respective field. EDR designed and built our kitchen, including an addition to our non-existing dining area. This is probably our fourth remodel and our first experience with EDR Design Build. Pros- Excellent design service Professional subcontractors - they showed up as planned/promised Beautiful execution of the plan - once the design was agreed to, EDR did an outstanding job installing and building our dream kitchen They also did a great job of building out our dining room DR took out a considerable Picture W Powerindow and filled in the open space by building a wall situation situation Their finish work was on point to the finest finish (painting, adjusting, etc.) EDR provided a comprehensive weekly report, including pictures and open/closed items Workers were always polite, courteous, and almost always cleaned up daily- Issues that came up quickly dealt with and resolved Cons- We have only one or two things to complete on our/their "punch" list Their actual contract was a bit intimidating and daunting to get through but worth it once work began Thank you, EDR and your excellent workers. Our experience with EDR was awesome! We are quite pleased with the new layout of our home. Eddie and Sarmad are a great team, plus Dima! They helped us bring a vision to life. They were quite patient through the process of expressing and sometimes changing that vision. They are experienced in working with the city for codes and permitting. The crews they brought in did high quality work. The demo team, framers, insulation, roofers, flooring, painters -- what a wonderful symphony of workers all led by Sarmad and Fernando. We had an entire room re-built, fireplace removed, roof re-done, windows installed, kitchen re-done, floors and paint throughout the house. The bulk of the work was done in a two- month period. We decided to move out for 6 weeks, to help things move along and increase our own comfort during the kitchen work. The team was also quite responsive to any minor hiccups or revisions. We encountered very few issues, but everything was taken care of every time. We found this work to be expensive, but I am so glad that we hired such a professional team, and I do believe that the investment was worth it. read more

After a costly and disappointing experience with another Bay Area contractor, I was fortunate to find ED&R (415-565-9371 , www.edremodel.com) to complete the renovation of my Russian Hill condo. ED&R's work was excellent and timely, despite COVID delays & restrictions, and as the work progressed we built the trust and respect essential to a successful business relationship. Sarmad was my project manager. He helped choose and configure cabinetry and other finish goods, kept me well-informed of progress, and when the inevitable problems arose he solved them. There were no bad surprises. ED&R converted a property with decades of "deferred maintenance" into a beautiful apartment I was able to quickly lease for my asking rent. read more

I have changed many places in my life for living and have dealt with many companies. In general, I was disappointed with the attitude of contractors. They didn't show up on time or canceled the appointment. They spoke with all this terminology as if I were doing all this work. So I was very surprised when I called this company and the contractor came on time, I just explained everything I needed to do in my kitchen, he was very polite and understood everything I told him. Then he gave me several options and prices. I chose one and we set a repair date. Again, they arrived on time and did all the work exactly as we discussed earlier. My wife and I are definitely satisfied with the customer service and highly recommend Eddie Design and Remodeling. Thank you guys. read more

My sister and I decided to update and remodel our parents house. They wanted a new look for their home. We were looking for a beautiful open concept and a more modern look for our parents home. Let me tell you it's so hard to find a contractor that is not overpriced and actually listens to what you want. When we found Eddie we were saved! He will take care of you! No questions asked! He is completely reliable, he listens to your wants and needs but also gives his opinion and has beautiful finishes and ideas to complete your bine. He gave my parents home a modern look but also keep a little of its previous style. We decided to remodel the kitchen and living room as well as the bathrooms. Eddie was so easy to work with and he made sure everything was done correctly and at a good speed not rushed but not to delayed. He gave us a good price for all the hard work and beautiful work of art at our parents home. We went with cool colors to make the living space look bigger. Knocked down a wall and created an open concept living room that now included kitchen with a beautiful island, new cabinets, back splash and wooden flooring throughout. Now the family can all be together during get togethers, living room, kitchen and dining room all in one place. The back splash breath taking, beautiful lighting coming in that just gives the house that extra touch. We wanted a beautiful ceiling design with a white finish and drop down lighting fixtures, done! Bathrooms with a brand new vessel bathroom sinks and elegant counter tops, beautiful captivating but also delicate flooring and tiles.
