We hired BH construction for our 309 sqft addition in Santa Clara. The photos and video recently uploaded are from our place. Everything went pretty smoothly. Eitan visited us shortly after we contacted on Yelp. He spent his time explaining the procedure, answering all our questions, and gave the estimate timely. We got three other estimates, and eventually decided on BH after speaking with his references. Most importantly he answers his texts and phones every time which was very important to us. His price was pretty competitive as well with fixed guaranteed cost. Oh and Eitan was the only one who said our timeline can be met. It was a design-build project. Eitan connected us with the team (first architect, then interior design, and lastly the construction crews) on WhatsApp. Given the short timeline, we acted on the architectural plan right away and submitted to the city. Unfortunately, the permit process took much longer than we anticipated. Meanwhile, Elinor, the designer, and we shopped around together for the bathroom fixtures and tiles. Once the project starts, everything was done pretty quickly. Demolition, framing, plumbing, etc. was done one after the other, and the inspection was scheduled timely. We always had someone/people working at our place almost everyday - which I was very pleased to see. The finishing took a bit longer than I would have liked, but my research says it's expected as it's a delicate process. Also the city asked to revise the plan pretty extensively for the existing house portion to add shear walls (built in 60s), and support for the arch doorway. They had to remove the stucco and add the walls and re-apply the stucco which can be expensive. There were also a couple of electrical issue on the rest of the house, which I suspect is due to removed wires for knob & tube wiring - which is very hard to pinpoint where the problem is. Eitan took care all of them without asking me to pay additional amount. I was home most of the time the crews were working at my place (on parental leave). They respected our space, comfort, and privacy. BH brought a portable restroom outside and none of the people BH hired used the one inside our home. The crews (Edgar, Elmer, Roberto, especially) were very friendly and spoke English very well. They were responsive, did their best to accommodate the owner's desires throughout the entire duration. I felt very comfortable working with them and asking for the small adjustments. Overall, we're happy with the end product. The construction took a bit longer than 4 months. We added lots of windows and skylights to the addition and it looks very nice with ample natural lights. If you have a project, I highly recommend you reach out to Eitan. We are very pleased with the work BH Construction & Development Inc. did on our bathrooms. They were both professional and personable. Our bathrooms had not been updated since it was built in 1982. We looked at reviews and photos of BH Construction previous projects and had planned to meet with different companies, and we knew it was a good match after the first couple of meetings. I appreciated the personal attention we received from project manager Ethan. We received frequent updates, and Ethan was quick to respond to and address any of our questions, concerns, or needs. They provided us with reputable suppliers, which saved us a lot of time. Some of my friends had nightmare stories about their remodeling experiences, including surprises, slow or skipped work, subcontractor miscommunications, and hidden costs. We did not experience any of this with BH Construction. I think this may be why they provide an overall quote with actions rather than list out the specific costs of each item. The crew had to work around our daily activity with kids and in the limited space (we stayed home during the remodel). They worked quickly and did a great job cleaning up when they were done. The only issue was that the person who was supposed to give us a quote on our cabinets replacement took a while to deliver it, granted our HOA had a lot of specific requirements for it, and she was out sick.
