We hired Level Up builders in November of 2024 for a kitchen remodel . We had interviewed two other companies but ultimately felt the most comfortable going with Eli our salesman and project manager. The pace of the job was very smooth right off the bat and only picked up once the work started. During the design phase the team including Liane were very pleasant to work with. Liane was extremely patient and helpful while she met us at two design stores to assist us in choosing colors and layouts. Once the work started, we were very impressed with the site prep as Eli delivered on keeping as much dust out of the the rest of the house. He made sure crew setup plastic sheeting throughout the whole bottom floor with zipper doors included so we could still access the living room and upstairs. From here, we were very pleased with the pace of things. Eli and his team are very eager to work and do not make you wait. The demo happened very quickly and before we knew it we were moving very quickly through rough electrical and plumbing. The rest of the job went very smoothly and ended up being ahead of schedule. We chose Eli with LevelUp to do a fairly extensive design/build home remodel and are happy we did, which after almost a year of planning (our fault and their patience that it took that long), seven months of building, and a billion and one details to worry about, is saying something. After hearing numerous remodel horror stories from friends and family (and zero people who would recommend their contractors) and having experienced some on a smaller scale ourselves, we were willing to spend a little more to move up a tier into the realm where reputations matter. We spent a fair amount of time doing our due diligence and interviewing, looking for a company and a importantly, a point person who would take pride in and stand behind their work product, who valued their reputation and customer relationships, and who had excellent communication and management skills and could make the process a little easier for us. I think if we weren't going to get (or pay for) perfect the first time, the next best thing was someone who would be realistic, listen, and work with us to get there quickly. Eli, and Liane (the designer on the project who we interviewed as well) checked all the boxes and stayed true to our hopes in these regards. There were, as promised with any large project, unexpected issues that came up, but at the very least, there was patience, good humor, frequent communication, fairness, and above all, advocacy on our behalf. Be it with the city or at times, several vendors that they shopped to get better prices on our behalf, we felt well represented. While their recommended vendors weren't as dirt-cheap as our pocketbooks would have hope for, true to Eli's word because they valued their relationships with LevelUp, they were all reliable, communicated well (or through Eli), replaced defective parts or sometimes came back as many as four times without additional grumbling to make things right. Our project was kept on schedule and on budget (or at the option prices we had previously agreed upon, or handled fairly if they were totally out of left field). We're now about two months past move-in, and Eli has continued to be responsive and have a plan for addressing minor issues that have popped up. As others have mentioned, renovations are stressful and detail oriented, and finding a good company and people to partner with are worth paying for. I worked with Ellie for a fairly large-sized project comprising house expansion, resurfacing exterior, renovating interior, ADU addition, and hardscaping a 1-acre lot including pool resurfacing. After interviewing several contractors whose timeline and budget estimates were not feasible, I found Ellie, who estimated almost half the timeline of others with competitive pricing. This, along with his confident approach, convinced me to go with him. While there were surprises as we opened up the old house, I was impressed that Ellie and his team kept to the original timeline estimate. His budget guarantee was particularly reassuring - knowing the initial estimate was firm gave me peace of mind throughout the project. When we discovered issues inside the walls requiring additional work, the extra costs were fair and transparent, and I ultimately decided to replace all the insulation, sewer pipes, and water pipes. Renovation can be a stressful process with countless details to manage, but working with Ellie made it significantly easier. I do not understand how these guys could get the positive reviews I've read. It's as if I'm reading about an entirely different company. Ellie, the GC, doesn't catch mistakes that his subcontractors make. We had to catch them for him. Be careful . . . . He did not catch any of the issues I've described below. When trying to get your business, they do a good job of telling you what a great job they will do. But, ultimately terrible quality; terrible attention to detail. We met another individual who had a similarly bad experience with Level Up. She described them as "slick talkers," but "nasty." They get so nasty and aggressive when they decide they are not willing to fix their mistakes, it is difficult to believe that a company believes it is a good idea to act that way. They will blatantly deny the plain facts. Do not believe their pitch. As far as the work, they cut corners. For example, they undersized the electrical panel in our project significantly relative to the size called for in the plans (they installed 125 amps when plans called for 200 amps). How could that possibly be a "mistake?" The plans required copper potable water supply lines, but without telling us they used schedule 40 PVC (another contractor told us this is the cheapest type of PVC). They left wood forming on our cement foundation (buried the wood forming). They did not build the foundation to plans, which we believe at minimum contributed to the water intrusion we experienced. Fit and finish was terrible. They installed kitchen and bath lights crooked and/or unaligned. See photo of light not centered over kitchen counter. It took multiple times for them to fix these issues, and then it took them multiple times to properly fix the walls. We have cracking tile and cracking grout that I've read are due to tiling 101 mistakes. Rather than fix cracking grout, they told us that the grout THAT THEY TOLD US TO BUY was defective. They installed the cabinet nook for our microwave with no way to plug in the microwave! See photo. Then they told us to run the power wire out the front of my cabinet to the outlet underneath the cabinet. When I finally was able to get them to do something to address this issue (they argued about it at length), they "fixed" this issue by putting an outlet in the cupboard above the microwave, still with no way for the wire from the microwave to get to the plug! See second photo. When I expressed my disbelief, they told me to drill a hole myself. The incompetence was truly mind boggling. The shower fixture that Level Up installed is not working properly. Hot and cold water function are reversed from what they are supposed to be. I called the manufacturer of the fixture, and they told me that the cartridge that controls water flow has been installed upside down! Leaky sewer clean out. Leaky shower head - they didn't even tighten the shower head! See photo. A third party plumber told us that they left debris in the sewer line they installed that a caused a backup on a brand-new sewer line. See photo of third party plumber pointing to clog under kitchen floor. They left unconnected wires hanging in our electrical panels, which I assume may be a safety hazard. Our HVAC required 240 volts. They wired it for 120 volts and then said it wasn't their responsibility. They even argued with us, incorrectly, that plans called for 120 volt (when the plans clearly said - "size to equipment" or something to that effect). Wall fit and finish had to be redone numerous times, and they never got it right. EV outlet installed upside down. Shower curb and shower bench are not sloped properly, with the curb slope resulting in water outside shower. See attached photos of a level on the curb and bench. To my eye, both the bench and curb look like they are sloped, if anything, in the wrong direction. They installed electrical and gas lines in the same trench without spacing required by code. Does that sound safe? We had to call them on this, and force them to redo it, when other contractors told us it didn't look right. Does any of this sound like a company with good attention to detail? When an issue needed to be corrected, we commonly had to ask numerous times. The list goes on and on. The issues ranged from small to significant, but the volume and type of issues was excessive. So excessive that they ultimately effectively disappeared by refusing to continue to try to fix the problems they created. Significant issues remain uncorrected. Hire at your own risk! If they ask you to pay significant amounts of money in advance of them doing work, I recommend you treat that as a red flag. read more

I interviewed five construction/remodeling companies before deciding on LevelUp to remodel my house. The project involved tearing down the old home except for the garage, building it from the ground up, and adding another 1000 sqft. As you can see, this is a large job. Nir was onsite every working day throughout the construction period - 9.5 months! I was amazed at how he could make it to our place daily, given he has 10+ projects simultaneously. Nir's attention to detail was impeccable; he was very particular about getting things done right and perfectly, which I am sure other contractors would ignore. One time, when I visited the property, a bathroom wall tiled the previous day was torn down. The site supervisor said Nir had asked to tear it down because the tile joints were imperfect - to be clear, even I didn't notice that the day before! Nir footed the bill for the wall and the new (expensive) tiles and didn't even tell us. This shows that he wants his signature on the job and does not settle for less. Nir had arranged all the services around the construction, and I got a perfectly executed job ON TIME, with every bit of detail well taken care of. After considering a significant remodel of our home for quite a while, we ended up choosing Level Up. We were so impressed by them, their quality, and the overall experience that we used them again a couple years later to add an ADU to our home. We previously received design plans for a remodel from elsewhere, but decided to bounce these off of other companies to get their thoughts. Nir came in and in less than an hour, was able to understand what things were important to us and we sketched out alternatives that were clearly better than our existing plans. As a result, we're way happier with our kitchen and master bath layouts than we would have been. During construction, the team was active with their communicating and we always knew what was happening. Of course, there are always surprises and changes once work starts, but they were always proactive and honest with us, which made it easy to resolve any issues. They also cared about doing things right and with a high quality bar. There was one issue in a bathroom that didn't look right to them (which we couldn't even tell), but they redid a bunch of work to fix it. I consistently felt like they were on our side, wanted to make things right, and make sure we were happy with the result. Perhaps most amazingly, the project was done on time! We were renting a place while they did the work, and had a lease with minimal buffer after they assured us that it would be ready. Sure enough, we were able to move back in before our rental lease ended and are still enjoying our completely refreshed home. We recently completed a project with Level Up. We completed a like-for-like remodel of the guest bathroom and the kitchen, as well as a more in-depth remodel of the master bathroom. We also replaced all of the flooring in the house. The team from Level Up's side was Eli as the project manager, Liane as the designer, and Jose as the foreman. We are a family of five with a dog & a cat, and we remained living in the house for almost the entire construction process. The team was very patient and respectful of our space, made sure to install framed plastic barriers & floor runners to separate the work areas, and gave us warnings when things would be loud or when we'd lose running water (which was never for very long). The quality of the work was excellent, and happened at a pace that allowed us to check in frequently and help guide certain aspects of the construction (plumbing & electrical locations, tile layouts, etc). All feedback provided to the team was accepted immediately & acted upon very quickly. Touch ups were promptly addressed without any pushback. Eli communicated timelines & schedules frequently. Level Up provides clients access to a WhatsApp chat group so that everyone can be on the same page with what needs to be decided & what the plans are. Everyone was very responsive through the WhatsApp group. Eli and Liane guided us through the design process and helped us choose vendors & select materials. Their communication was very thorough and they were both very responsive. Liane was able to put together wonderful, very realistic 3D composite images that helped the construction crew understand how to proceed. Eli was able to be flexible with changing delivery timelines on certain delayed materials. While all of the work completed was very professional, we'd specifically like to call out the tile work. The tile work done by the team was absolutely fantastic, working with somewhat difficult raised tile patterns as well. Ellie, Nir and the team at Level Up delivered a complex [near full home remodel]+[addition] for us in Los Altos. We are very happy with the outcome. Permitting: The fact that it was both a remodel and addition made the permitting more complex, and they were very competent at making it happen. 2. Price: They guaranteed a price which provided peace of mind for us as customers even in a time when it was really hard to do so (COVID raw material price swings) 3. Design: Were open to many rounds of consultation and feedback. Sometimes they signed up for things that would be harder from a construction standpoint because it would make the end product better 4. Schedule: their experience showed when they had to handle multiple schedule risks outside of their control  5. Quality: the quality of work was great and they were always willing to go the extra mile to make sure things were done correctly. 6. Competent: We were impressed with the competence of the entire team - from electrical to plumbing to any other surprise that emerged. 7. Pleasant: Remodels can be stressful for a family. It is super important that you can trust your contracting team through thick and thin for peace of mind. They were very empathetic and customer oriented. Typically, a key thing for contractors is to get pictures of their finished product, pristine before all the family/furniture moves in. A long overdue review about this shady general contractor. We are still upset by the unscrupulous practices of Level Up and its owners, Nir and Ellie, who worked on a remodel several years ago. They have unlicensed workers on site to do all work, including major electrical and plumbing resulting in disastrous results. Aside from the safety issues, their work quality is abysmal. These guys simply lack real construction knowledge or capability. I have no doubt their many positive reviews are bogus. We did an extensive remodel with Level up that took over a year around 2021 in the East Bay. We have experience with remodeling with another firm in the past on our previous home and we got bids from other contractors, so we understood what to expect. The remodel included rearranging the kitchen layout, adding a pantry, creating 2 cutouts in a wall to the kitchen to create extra hallways, reconfiguring the master bathroom and master closet, rearranging another bathroom, updating fixtures and other finishes, flooring, kitchen islands, countertops, fireplaces, downstairs drywall, exterior wood siding, etc.. Overall we were very happy with the work. The permitting went smoothly with the architect/structural engineer plans and the city approved without requiring revisions, which is always a good sign that it was done correctly and to current city code. The length of the remodeling was as predicted. We worked with Nir, one of the owners. If the work wasn't done to his standards which happened just a few times, he would have his team redo it without additional charge to us. We didn't feel like he was nickel and diming us. When something unexpected came up which is inevitable when you are opening up walls, the charges were reasonable and in line with what we were hearing friends and relatives were getting charged for similar work at that time. Our contract had everything written in detail about the scope of work. We found Nir and his team to be trustworthy and would not hesitate to recommend him to others or use him again if we were doing another big remodel. read more

We worked with Level Up Home Remodeling for our modest galley kitchen and bathroom remodel. We first met Noam who was our project manager, and from the beginning we felt an immediate connection and trust which is very important when undergoing big house projects. Noam is very easy to talk to but also realistic. We knew what kind of design we wanted and color scheme, but we still needed much guidance, and for that we worked with Tal for which we are thankful. Tal met us at the various vendors and helped us choose materials. Tal was also easy to work with and had a good eye for tile and other design elements which we were not good at. Once we got the permits the work started. The entire process from start to finish was pretty efficient. If we didn't like how something was done and wanted something to be re-done, touched up, etc the workers were always accommodating which makes us the customer very happy. Noam kept us updated on what was going on so we were kept in the loop. The workers wore masks and did Covid-precautions. Our house only had one bathroom, and during the bathroom renovation they got us porta potty's to use (separate from the workers') and they also set up a heated outdoor shower tent which worked great!! They actually finished about 2 weeks ahead of schedule which was great. The overall finished product was up to our standards. We are loving our new kitchen and bathroom. We recently completed a major "modernization" remodeling project with Level Up that included: - Re-landscaping of the entire front and back yard. - Modernizing the outdoor look of the home itself. - Complete interior remodeling that included a brand new kitchen, three bathrooms, and completely opening up the living room/kitchen area to make the it look more open and spacious. - Building out a new mudroom for the laundry room area. - Installing new floors, pipes, and electrical wiring from an aging home. - Installing new air ducts and HVAC unit for the home. The project did take longer than I expected but more than half the time was simply waiting for our appliance to show up. It took more than a year for the new appliances to show up to my home. Crazy Covid times! We ultimately selected Level Up and chose to work with Ellie, Nir, and their crew for many reasons. However, there was one thing that set him apart from others we interviewed. Ellie quoted me an all-inclusive budget I was comfortable with that does not change for the entirety of the project. This included everything minus the finishings that we would eventually select for the remodeling effort. Given what I heard from colleagues working with past contractors that would nickel and dime every change once the work started, we felt this was the right format for the remodeling project. Now with the completion of the project, I can say that Ellie and his crew have been excellent throughout the entirety of the project. Every concern, big or small, were promptly addressed. No complaints. Nothing. Ellie treated this project as if this was his own home being remodeled. This came down to workmanship and recommendations on finishings throughout the entire remodeling effort. For example, our front door was ever so slightly off after it was installed and painted. A simple "meh" response when he asked us how we felt and he immediately said he will replace the entire door to our liking. No additional charges. Love it. Would we recommend Level Up? Hell yes! DO NOT HIRE THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE. You will regret it! Worst mistake we have made. It has been an absolute nightmare since we hired them to build our home. Unfortunately it has been mistake after mistake. And the quality of work is subpar. They do not know what their subcontractors are doing; they do not know what they are doing. We have had to make them fix mistake after mistake of things that we caught. And then it takes them multiple times to fix the mistakes. The most recent was the mistake they made in our plans in which the city did not pass our inspections due to their error in which they are not taking responsibility for. They will tell you that it was not their fault, blame it on others but I have evidence of their mistakes. In fact, we have a pending lawsuit against LevelUp and have filed a complaint with the CA State Licensing Board. We had a major home remodeling project in mind which would remove walls and greatly expand our kitchen creating an open floor plan design. We interviewed 5 companies for the project and chose LevelUp based on their structure as a design/build company (rather than having to engage designer, architect, construction contractor separately). All the necessary resources are available through and managed by LevelUp. LevelUp received the business based primarily on Eli's, our Project Manager, to provide some creative ideas, his "can-do" attitude and his attentiveness. LevelUp worked extremely efficiently during all phases of the project. The maintained a very clean job site and worked to a tight schedule. Over the course of the 3-month project, there were only a handful of days when their team members were not on the jobsite, most of which were due to building inspectors' schedules. As with all major projects of this nature, there are always unexpected issues that arise. Eli was particularly adept at resolving issues very quickly to our satisfaction. The work quality of Jose, job foreman, and his team is excellent. Often times, he suggested better solutions that exceeded our expectations. In addition, the communication by Eli was very timely and comprehensive providing us with daily updates of progress including pictures and videos. We recently finished our remodeling project with Level Up and words cannot describe how grateful we are that we chose them for this job! I've broken down our experience with Level Up into the following areas: Level Up's team, proposal, project delivery & service. TEAM One of the main reasons why we selected Level Up is because of our project managers, Eli and Noam, who were just awesome and really made this project headache and hiccup free. From the moment we met them during our initial meeting, we felt a good connection and feeling of trust with them. They made us feel at such ease and truly took their time to answer all our questions, paying close attention to what we were looking for, while also explaining in detail what to expect during the process. More so during the entire project, Eli and Noam continued to show us the same professionalism, ensuring all deliverables were met according to schedule, keeping us informed with daily or weekly updates, and addressing any issues quickly and promptly. Eli and Noam are not just great project managers, but they are genuinely nice and cool guys whom we've gotten to know on a personal level during those months. Kudos also goes out to Karen who was our designer for our kitchen. Our kitchen was a small U-shaped kitchen and Karen was able to show us how the kitchen could be expanded. She put together a rough layout of the new kitchen, came with us to the store of our choice to select the cabinets and once we had selected the cabinets etc, she created a beautiful realistic 3D rendering of the future kitchen. Last but not least, all the workers on the job were always on time, friendly and very professional. PROPOSAL We interviewed about 3 other contractors/companies before we decided to partner with Level Up. I have to admit, we were hesitant at first when they gave us their proposal, because it was indeed higher than the other bids we received. But the key difference with Level Up though was that they will manage the project in its entirety, so that my husband and I would not have to deal with any of the headaches that homeowners often experience when trying to manage it all on their own. Also, I really liked the fact their quote included literally EVERYTHING, from design, drawings, material selection, permit, electrician, plumbing, demolition, installation, clean up etc., No details were left out on the proposal, so there were no surprises or hidden fees, which many contractors often times like to add. So unless there is a change of scope in your project, you won't be paying a penny more than what you were quoted. PROJECT DELIVERY & SERVICE Excluding the delays that were not in Level Up's control (Covid, city error with permit, foundation issues we had to get fixed first, defective appliance), the entire project of remodeling our kitchen (which included tearing out a structured wall) and replacing the entire flooring throughout the house took roughly three months from design to finish. We were really impressed by how fast and quickly the team worked, yet their speed did not affect their quality of work at all. Eli and Noam's incredible attention to detail ensured that all the work was absolutely flawless. Communication was also rock solid. We were all on a WhatsApp group chat and through that, Eli and Noam sent us almost daily updates with pictures, letting us know how things were progressing or bringing any issues to our attention (or us bringing any issues, all minor, to their attention), which were quickly resolved. Level Up's service was truly top notch, because aside of meeting their deliverables, their quality work, great communication, they also went the extra mile when we needed it. One example is when our kitchen cabinets arrived too early before we had our permit approved. We had no room to have the cabinets delivered in our house, so Eli helped with getting a POD unit delivered on our driveway, at no extra cost, so we could have the cabinets delivered and stored in there. The other time is when we needed the team to pick up all our new appliances from our storage rental unit couple of miles away from our house. And occasionally Noam or Eli would stop by for no particularly reason because they were in the area, just to say hello and checking in with us. Even after the project was completed, they still keep in touch with us. Level Up really made our first home project a wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to use them again in the future. We got a master suite addition into our backyard from Level Up Home Remodeling and Eli was our project manager. Fernando was the foreman. There's probably no significant construction work without its share of ups and downs but overall we are quite happy with the end results. We got a brand new master bedroom, modern new bathroom and a decent sized new walk in closet. To list out some of the salient things about Level up and Eli, - Speed: initially they gave a very modest time estimate but finished it very fast! Eli, our project manager, ensured that the project finished quite early, making sure no materials were blocking project progress. Fernando's team was also very fast at building. - Project manager support: Eli personally ran some errands for us in times of crunch, and would accompany us to finish material stores as well sometimes. As a first timer, it was useful at times to have this. - Professional: Things like billing, city permits, insurance, etc were all handled very professionally. I didn't know what I was signing up for when I signed these guys up from Yelp but now I know that Level up is a professional company. - Covid-19 Safety: Initially I was worried about covid risk considering we were staying in the same home where construction work was happening but the construction team seemed to know how to take precautions and we were more relaxed later on. - Cost: We got a very reasonable price for the design+build option that we went with. And the cost guarantee from Level up made it easy for a first timer like me! Later on, during the construction, we considered adding a few other things to the scope of work but the cost estimate from level up for new scope seemed very high. So my advice would be to fully decide scope of work at the start and negotiate while you have the leverage. One place of improvement: - Communication: Being from the tech industry, I expected a bit more thorough communication with more details. At times it felt lacking in details but most of my questions were eventually answered after I asked them. Another point to note: The finish material partner stores recommended by level up weren't particularly exceptional. So I looked around by myself and found better stores. I would suggest looking at various stores by yourself. My project just completed 3 weeks back. I'm looking forward to updating this review a few months later once we've fully lived in our master suite and also experienced the post-construction service that Eli has promised me. We have found ourselves in a unique situation where we are not a client of LevelUp (yet) but Ellie has been the most amazing and creative person we have come across in our endless search of a design build firm. We have been talking to Ellie for last few weeks and it has been a pleasure. When you are with Ellie, he makes you feel it's all gonna be all right and has the calm demeanor which is so much needed when homeowners nerves are all over the place. He comes up with solution. You tell him a problem, and his first statement would be "let's talk and find a solution". He has such a problem solving attitude which is refreshing and amazing! Theres a TON of renovation companies and wasn't sure how this was going to play out. I just moved From San Diego to San Jose, bought a house and needed a new kitchen and bedrooms (3 to be exact). After a lot of research I I got in touch with Level Up and they were great from start to finish. Noam, who's my contact is incredible. We recently completed our project with LevelUp remodeling our kitchen, a bathroom, and building an addition that included a powder room and a master suite. My husband and I were first time homebuyers and this was our first experience doing work on our house, so we didn't know what to expect. The design/build model was well worth the money as it took a lot of the work off our plates. Nir and his team worked with us before we even closed on our house and then throughout the project to make sure we understood all the steps involved and make the process as painless as possible. Our designer Tal did a fantastic job using our ideas and inspiration photos to bring us design options and materials. Nir communicated updates to us and was very open about when additional work was needed or if we needed to make adjustments to plans or timing. We trusted Nir to provide his expert opinion and bring in other experts whenever needed (e.g., HVAC, glass, windows, etc.). We were in a time crunch as we were expecting our first child, and the crew was onsite working every single day to get things done, sometimes with half a dozen people at a time. Our project manager changed during the project, which took a little adjusting, but the work never stopped and our project was completed in a very short amount of time considering the scope of the work performed. During the project we decided to have the team redo our backyard (which we love) and we are already in discussions with LevelUp to design a new front yard for us next year.
