We recently completed a major five-month remodeling project with Shay and his team, and I genuinely cannot recommend them highly enough. This was a complex scope: removing the structural wall between our kitchen and living room, eliminating the existing fireplace, adding two new patio doors to bring in more natural light, and building a small exterior addition to create a proper master bedroom closet. On top of that, we ended up doing a full house electrical rewiring after opening the walls and discovering extremely old and unsafe wiring. It was a lot, and Shay handled every part of it with professionalism, patience, and real dedication. Before choosing a contractor, we interviewed 10-15 different companies. This was a big investment for us and we wanted to make the right decision. Now that the project is done, I can confidently say choosing Shay was absolutely the right call. He consistently tried everything he could to meet our requirements, stay aligned with our priorities, and guide us through all the unexpected discoveries that come with an older home. One example that stood out to us happened in the middle of the project. A city inspection got delayed through no fault of the contractor, and our schedule began to slip. Because we were living in a hotel during the remodel, every lost day was stressful, both financially and emotionally. To help us get back on track, Shay put together a daily, itemized recovery plan that reorganized the schedules, tightened the workflow, and ultimately brought us right back to our original timeline. That thoughtful planning made a huge difference to us. The electrical surprise was another moment where Shay shined. When we learned that the wiring behind the walls was dangerously outdated, we decided to do a full-house rewire. Two bedrooms were not part of our remodel, and we were using them as storage, so moving furniture around was very complicated. Shay helped us figure out a sequence that minimized disruption and avoided moving things multiple times. He took the initiative to coordinate everything and make the process as painless as possible. Throughout the project, his crew, especially Jorge and Herminia, were consistently kind, respectful, and detail-oriented. They were extremely careful with measurements and installation placement, and the craftsmanship is visible everywhere in our home. It's rare to see that level of care on both the big structural items and the small finishing touches. After 5 months of work, we are absolutely thrilled with the result. Shay and his team earned every bit of this 5-star review, and I would work with them again without hesitation.

We remodeled our entire house (kitchen, 2 bathrooms, flooring, interior and outside paint) and built an ADU unit of 900 sq ft. and hired Shay from We Remodel and Build. Shay expedited the engineering plans and city permits which made it easier for us to get started. We lived in the house during the renovations and Shay honored the schedule he had committed to and his crew kept the job site very clean on a daily basis which was essential to us especially with our kids in the house. We were worried that additional charges would occur along the project, but Shay kept his promise that there would be no hidden costs which was a relief to us as we were on a budget and couldn't afford bad surprises. The quality of the work was to our full satisfaction and the whole coordination went well. The entire project was completed within 5 months of daily work (except Sundays) and we would hire Shay again if we had to. His pricing was fair compared to other bids we got before hiring We Remodel and Build. A special thank you to Georges the master of tiles and a long overdue thank you to Shay and Sharon from the office for making this huge project come true in the most efficient manner.

My husband and I decided to get a room addition to accommodate our growing family. When the lockdown was in place I wasn't sure if construction would be on hold for a long time. I searched and searched for many contractors all over the Bay Area. Shay has the best reviews and came recommended from a past coworker. They were right. Shay at we remodel was so great. He always kept me and my husband in the loop about when they could start again and went over the precautions and safety plans they would be using once they could work again. Shay and his team made up for the little time lost and more. We found out I was pregnant during the lockdown and our baby's room was finished before she was born. We didn't want to have to worry about construction noise with a newborn. Everything was done so fast and looks amazing. My husband has an eye for small details. He was very very impressed.

I have been a realtor for several years and have worked with Shay for the past 8 years. He is a good contractor but Unfortunately good contractors like Shay are often busy and the lengthy period to start the project can be a compromise. For this specific project Shay couldn't start before 7-8 months but he managed to shorten the wait time to 5 months. Shay is honest, professional, and no one has the same work ethic and drive as Shay. He was always easy to get ahold of (which is very important since things can change so quickly when creating and fixing a home) and it was so nice to know I could count on him if anything needed to change to accommodate my clients. I have worked with other contractors in my line of work, and Shay and We Remodel and Build stands above the rest. The joy I get from seeing so many people and families overjoyed and ecstatic with the look and quality of their remodeled homes is amazing. He is so genuine, authentic, and knowledgeable about construction. I myself just had a 1000 square foot remodel job and I knew I had to work with Shay personally. The craftsmanship was exceptional. I cannot stop staring at how amazing it looks. The job is exactly like I wanted. Of all the contractors I have worked with and met, choosing Shay for my own personal project was an absolute no brainer. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Shay at We Remodel and Build Home Remodeling for any project you may need, big or small.

TLDR: After living in the house for almost a year after the renovation finished, my wife and I are still happy. Things were not perfect, and they never will be, but we still can't believe this is our home. Shay and his team (specifically Ernie, Jorge, and Paco) are great at what they do, but they're also great people. Renovations are not easy, especially living through one, but they were great throughout the process and always made us feel comfortable and informed. ----------------------- Full Review: My wife and I are first-time homeowners that were in a position to renovation our dream house. We had phone calls and in-person consultations with four or five different contractors while trying to plan our renovation. We Remodel & Build was not the cheapest option, nor was it the most expensive. However, the thing that set them apart from the others was the amount of time Shay spent explaining the process, measuring the various rooms, and answering all of our questions. Having been our first time doing any work on the home, we had knots in our stomachs at the thought of committing so much money to someone we only knew for two hours, but we feel like we made the right choice. We're all aware of Covid lockdown delays by now, but long story short is trying to obtain permits turned out to be a nightmare. Our project, which was expected to be finished within 4 months, was forced to split into two separate renovations. Our Primary Bedroom/Bathroom renovation was approved in under two months, but our Great Room/Kitchen renovation took eight months to be approved. It was a very frustrating time for both us and Shay, but his team kept up updated whenever they received any updates. The delays made us antsy and anxious, but once the Great Room/Kitchen renovation began, the fun finally began. Every day after my wife got home from work we'd walk through and see all the progress made. Even though there was no drywall, we had gigantic holes in our foundation, and there were old electrical wires dangling everywhere, we finally started to see our vision come true. Don't get me wrong, things were not always great. Every time you open up walls there are surprises that pop up and we found out firsthand. There were difficult days. There were times when we didn't want Shay to call us because we feared he might tell us things we didn't want to hear. Maybe it was just our inexperience with renovations, but do not go into a renovation expecting perfection. But the bad news was always temporary. Majority of the time Shay called it was to provide us with good news and optimism. In total, Shay's team did a complete Primary Bathroom refresh, removed multiple walls in the Great Room, installed 3 header beams to give us open concept, reinforced our exterior walls (both shear walls and strong walls), installed luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout, and completely remodeled the kitchen. It was a big project, at least to us, but we could not be happier with the outcome. There was frustration, there were smiles, there were laughs, and there were speechless moments. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but absolutely worth it to know that this will be our house for decades to come. Up and downs are part of the process, but a few months of sacrifice will afford us the opportunity of hosting countless Thanksgivings and Christmas mornings with our family and friends. My wife and I thank Shay and his team for making that happen.

Shay and his team did a great job remodeling and reconfiguring our master bathroom and closet. Before, the space felt cramped and the space around the vanity was not utilized. We wanted to take down a wall and build a new one to reshape the entire area. Shay was honest and informative during the estimate and gave us a very reasonable price and was willing to work with our budget. Shay will always try to save you money without sacrificing quality or deterring you from your vision which we appreciated. In the end we could not be happier with the way it turned out!

    Kitchen

We Remodel and Build did an excellent job with our recent home re-modelling project in Pleasanton. We added over 300+ square feet of additional space in our house with a newly configured great room and open plan kitchen. Shay and his crew did the entire project start to finish with care and diligence, and within the promised timeline. Shay is a true professional, straight forward and genuinely cares about his customer's needs. During the design and architecture phases we requested several changes, and Shay was very accommodating to all our needs. Our project involved redoing the roofline, reinforcing the foundation, and we wanted to keep the vaulted ceilings and still get a large great room with modern open plan kitchen. Shay's team provided a very elegant design that turned out really well - structurally as well as aesthetically. Often construction projects can run into some minor or major challenges and hurdles. What is important is how a construction company and their crew handle these challenges - this is where Shay and his team really excel and believe in making things right. All of the crew members in Shay's crew are seasoned professionals and really know their trade very well. They come and leave on time, and were very respectful of our privacy. Since we were living in the house while the construction project was on-going, Shay and his crew took extra care to ensure they minimized disruption to our daily life. Shay oversaw the whole project himself and monitored periodic progress with his direct involvement. It was never difficult to get hold of him to discuss a question, get clarifications or just bounce off ideas on material selection etc. Shay also provided us with many suggestions along the way that helped us prevent un-necessary cost overruns on material. Overall we are very happy with the outcome of remodeling project. I would highly recommend We Remodel and Build to anyone looking at small or large construction projects.

I am writing this review about the work done from Shay at We Remodel and Build. It was far better than I ever thought possible. I was looking for some help with a 400 square foot in-law unit. I was talking with a neighbor about it and he recommended we remodel and build. I also asked for recommendations on NextDoor, and I had two more neighbors recommend them and said what a good job they did! Getting a separate unit fast was very important for me to have. I needed a safe clean and beautiful place for my mother to stay because of Covid and because I wanted her close by. I was worried, though, about having it done on time and safely. My concerns were put at ease because Shay and the team were very honest and fast and used the proper protocol to make sure everything was done safely. Shay had a lot of ideas about what was best for the separate unit, and it was so needed. I work from home, have kids, and now am helping with my mother. I really didn't want to have to worry about one more thing during this time and I didn't have to. Shay and the team were so on top of things. They were easy to talk to and they responded fast. Plus their prices were lower than my budget. I loved what they did with the second unit. Now my family is close and happy.

    Remodeled bathroom

Shay and his team did a great job remodeling our bathroom. We initially thought this would be a small job, however, after finding significant water damage to the floor beams and joist underneath the shower, this small job quickly became a more complicated job. Shay did not let us down. Whenever we had issues with work scheduling, Shay was responsive and communicated with us to make sure that our time was not wasted while waiting for the workers to arrive from other jobs. It became apparent early that Shay values his customers and was willing to go that extra step to make sure our experience was good and that we were not overly inconvenienced. Things happen during construction so two way communication is important. Shay also cares about his work product and went an extra step to change our old cast iron pipes with newer PVC pipes, at no extra cost to us, after hearing from his plumber that these pipes needed to be replaced. Finally, after I notified Shay that our bedroom wall, next to the bathroom, experienced cracks from the pounding (in the bathroom). Shay took care of the issue without further questions. All and all we are happy with the way our bathroom remodel turned out. I am sharing pictures of our bathroom before and after the remodel. I would consider We Remodel & Build for future work at our house. Bravo! Job well done!

Our project consisted of relocating our laundry room and renovate the kitchen and one small bathroom. We met with 6 different contractors and most of them charged way more than we expected and estimated. We Remodel And Build were reasonable and transparent about their prices. They stuck to the scope of work we had agreed on and respected the timeline we set. The crew was efficient and knowledgeable. We do recommend them as a reliable contractor in the Bay Area

We remodeled our kitchen, 1 bathroom, painted the whole house and built a new patio. We Remodel and Build have exceeded our expectations in terms of responsiveness, craftsmanship, efficient communication and availability at all times. The crew worked fast and clean. Shay, our project manager, has overcome some unexpected electrical and plumbing challenges along the way without spending too much. The final result looks exactly like the 3D design we paid for via their company and we are happy to share our positive experience with them. Also, what helped us make our decision after consulting 6 different contractors is that Shay, the project manager, agreed on showing us  a couple of completed projects in the Bay area.

Shay and his team at We Remodel & Build recently completed a major renovation of the 100 year old house that we bought. We are very pleased with the outcome, and it was completed essentially on time, even with the normal curve balls and delays that any large project inevitably has. Overall the quality of work was very good, and Shay is always eager to help and to do right by the customer. Some of the items we were particularly pleased with are listed below. There were a few issues which we needed to point out for correction - flooring fixes, outdoor paint corrections, lead dust exposure. And at times the communication between Shay, the various work crews, and us was challenging. But in each case he was very active in getting the situation resolved, and at no extra cost. Additionally, there were several occasions where he offered to do work items or cover costs which were not on the original contract. This shows that he truly does want what is best for his customers and that he is committed to doing whatever is needed to deliver. *Kitchen - it was a complete remodel, and it is beautiful, even after the workers had to deal with the nuances of a 100 year old house - e.g. uneven floors and walls. *Indoor painting - very high quality. We used many different colors throughout the house and the indoor painters got each room right, and even consulted with us in a few cases to help us make the right decision on which color to use where. *Electric - we had to re-do the entire wiring, and the team doing that work was very good, coming out as many times as needed to help with various issues that came up. They even did a little work for free in the ADU (which was not in scope for our project) to fix some electric issues there. *The biggest issue was that the initial demolition work was done without considering whether there might be lead in the house. We arranged a lead tester ourselves after the work was started and found out that there was indeed lead, and it was all over the upstairs of the house and in the outside areas surrounding the house. Had we not brought it up the work would have continued and the lead contamination would have spread further into our yard and the surrounding yards. This resulted in a delay to the project and significant stress. To be fair, once Shay was aware of the lead situation, he covered the cost of cleanup and subsequent testing, and he shifted his schedule around to expedite things so that we only ended up being a few weeks late on the project. Overall, we would recommend We Remodel and Build for your home renovation project. These projects are always stressful, but having a partner who is very willing to make it a success really helps.

I had a quite challenging transformation in mind for the remodeling of our kitchen, two bathrooms, and the painting of the outside of our home. I can say that after seeing the work We Remodel and Build did, our home has been transformed exactly the way I envisioned. Shay's team worked diligently to expand the size of our kitchen and create a more modernized look in two of our bathrooms. When it came to painting the outside of our home, I received various inputs regarding design that were extremely useful. Shay, the owner, was incredible to work with. From the start of the project, he assured me that his goal was to meet my needs and achieved this by being friendly and clear when communicating with me about the job. He was always there to answer my calls and I received incredibly fast response rates which made the remodeling job very organized and efficient. As for Shays' team: they were professional, always kept areas clean, and respected our privacy. They strictly followed COVID-19 protocols by always wearing masks and remaining socially distanced. It is always a bit nerve racking when going through a big remodeling project, with regards to the time when construction is taking place in your home. However, Shay and his team put these nerves to rest and my family and I felt safe and comfortable during the entire process. I would highly recommend We Remodel and Build to anyone looking to remodel their home and I will definitely be keeping Shay and his team in mind the next time either myself or someone I know is looking to remodel.

I hired Prime to renovate my kitchen - countertops, backsplash, cabinets, electrical, freezer, etc…read more They also helped install a new bidet toilet for me. Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

We contracted Prime Design & Build to remodel two bathrooms, a laundry room, a staircase, and to…read moreinstall hardwood flooring. Overall, the project went well, and we're happy with the final results. Bryan, our foreman, was a strong asset to the project. Even though he was managing multiple jobs at the same time, his responsiveness and willingness to go out of his way to address our concerns made a big difference. Because we were home throughout the process, we were able to catch issues early and communicate them directly to Bryan, who consistently followed through to resolve them. What Went Well: * The tile and flooring subcontractors were excellent - their craftsmanship and attention to detail truly stood out. * Bryan, our foreman, was responsive to texts and phone calls, listened to our concerns, and made sure they were addressed. He even designed a bi-fold closet door for us, and helped pick up all the material to build it. * Bryan also took the initiative to handle several unfinished items himself, which we really appreciated. * The post-build cleaners were top-notch and left the space in pristine condition. * Throughout the project, everyone we interacted with was professional, courteous, and conscientious. There were no conflicts or issues, which made the experience comfortable for us. Areas for Improvement: * The timeline was a pain point. While we were originally told the project would take 6-8 weeks, it ended up stretching to 12 weeks. * The design process fell short of expectations. Because Prime's in-house designers weren't available, our design work was outsourced. We only received a full design package for the master bathroom. As a result, we ended up creating our own renderings for the other rooms to help communicate our vision to the team. That said, we were very happy with the design and material selections for the master bathroom they did complete. We just wish the same level of attention and design support had been provided for the rest of the project. * At times, resource availability was limited, likely due to workers being assigned to multiple jobs. This led to workflow inefficiencies and delays. Toward the end of our renovation, our foreman Bryan had to personally step in to complete several tasks, such as installing faucets, shelving, and baseboards. He managed to get it done in between site visits and meetings, which we appreciated, but it also highlighted a lack of available crew to close out the project. Despite these few challenges, the quality of the work met our expectations. We appreciated the team's effort and the final outcome.

The scope included a complete renovation of the kitchen, master bathroom, family room wet bar, and powder room, along with extensive upgrades to electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, flooring, drywall, and interior painting throughout a two-story home. Project Scope & Timeline The project spanned approximately nine months, from Q3 2025 through Q1 2026. This included: * 2.5 months for contractor selection and contract negotiation * 2 months for permit application * 3 months for construction and implementation * 1.5 months for finalizing the paperwork and permit status Jay and his team handled the permit application process and completed the construction phase on schedule and within budget. Notably, change orders were kept under 5% of the total contract value, which is commendable given the project's complexity. Overall Assessment Jay Construction delivered solid results in terms of execution, cost control, and quality. While there were some challenges--particularly around communication and project management--issues were generally resolved in a collaborative and reasonable manner. Based on our experience, we assign an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars. One important consideration for future clients: Jay manages multiple projects simultaneously and may not always be readily available. Homeowners who are willing to stay actively involved--especially in communication and coordination--will likely have a smoother experience. ======================================= Detailed Breakdown by Work Category 1. Electrical Work (9/10, weight 20) Handled by a licensed team (Caesar & his team, Alpha Valley Electric), the electrical work was efficient and well-coordinated. Rough and finish phases were completed in a day each, with additional visits for inspection fixes. High marks for responsiveness and execution. 2. Plumbing Work (8/10, weight 20) The plumbing contractor (Mark) demonstrated strong attention to detail. While this area generated the most change orders due to unforeseen issues with existing piping, problems (including two leaks) were addressed promptly and professionally. 3. Carpentry (9/10, weight 20) * Kitchen Cabinetry & Ventilation (9/10, weight 15): Kornei & team, high-quality installation with complex ventilation work executed to code. * Wet Bar Cabinetry (9/10, weight 5): Viktor, excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. 4. Countertop Installation (8/10, weight 10) Mario & his team of three. Quartz countertops were installed cleanly across multiple areas, with good overall results. 5. Master Bathroom Renovation (9/10, weight 10) Viktor. This portion stood out for its quality. Waterproofing, Wall & Floor tile work, and fixture installation were all completed to a high standard. 6. Flooring (9/10, weight 20) Navruz Flooring, team of 3. Luxury vinyl plank flooring and Baseboards were installed throughout the home, including stairs. The results were consistent and professionally finished. 7. Drywall & Painting (Mixed Results, weight 20) * Initial Work (6/10, weight 10): Ali & team. Drywall texture quality was below expectations, though painting was acceptable. * Redo Work (9/10, weight 5): Smart Painting. After concerns were raised, Jay allowed us to bring in an alternative team (paid with contract dollars), which significantly improved the outcome. * Final Touch-Ups (9/10, weight 5): VitaIy and Viktor. Excellent work. 8. Demolition & Debris Removal (8/10, weight 10) Dimitri (Kitchen, Mater Bath), Vladimir & his team (Rest of the project including all carpet, hardwood floor removal). Efficient and thorough across all phases of the project. 9. Permits & Inspections (7/10, weight 10) While Jay managed the process, we found it necessary to stay actively involved to resolve delays and clarify requirements with the building department. All inspections were ultimately passed, including final approval after two rounds. 10. Project Management & Communication (6/10, weight 20) This was the weakest area. Jay's limited availability meant we took on a more hands-on role--coordinating finished products and rough materials with subcontractors, and helping manage dependencies. That said, Jay was consistently fair and solution-oriented when issues arose, and worked with subcontractors to resolve dependencies. Final Verdict Jay Construction Company is a capable contractor that delivers good quality work at a reasonable cost and timeline. Their subcontractors are generally skilled and reliable, and the company demonstrates flexibility when addressing problems. However, the experience benefits significantly from active homeowner involvement, particularly in communication and day-to-day coordination. If you are prepared to take on that role, Jay Construction can be a strong partner for a comprehensive home renovation project.

All prior interior work in our house had been done by handyman. I really appreciated the communication from our project manager Marc. He created a WhatsApp chat with me and the incredible designer Jocelyn. They were both consistently responsive to any of my questions or concerns -- and opened my mind to design options. Jocelyn spent time in our home, drafted plans, took me shopping, and sourced all the fixtures. From her spreadsheet I was able to find less expensive options for some items. I appreciated the input and control I had on these expenses. Since we needed to move out, I had a tight timeline for the project -- mid October until Thanksgiving. Marc and the team did their best despite City of San Jose delays with inspections. We were able to move back in before the final inspection. Every member of the team was kind and courteous. Marc also did a great job working with the window vendor that specializes in older homes. I'm rating the experience a 4.5 out of 5 for two reasons. I was disappointed that the medicine cabinet, switch plates, and hooks were initially installed unevenly (it was corrected). I expected more attention to detail. And I was disappointed in the wear & tear that happened on my wood floors as well as the overall dust in my dining room. I was warned that things would get dusty -- but didn't understand the extent and would have packed away more things. WISE offers lots of support with design -- they could also offer as part of their package a full cleaning! I offer this feedback to help others calibrate their expectations. Overall it was a positive experience. I waited several months to post this review until I returned from travel and could see how things were settling after regular use. I'm loving the new bathroom and recommend WISE.
