We bought a house in Pleasanton that was a perfect location for our family, but the inside needed quite a bit of work. Last December, I began my search for a reputable and diligent remodeling and construction team for my home renovation. After interviewing a total of four companies (all found on Yelp), my husband and I made the decision to move forward with Inspired Builders. What brought us to that decision was the communication style and friendliness of our project manager, Ben. He had a good sense of humor and straightforward approach. Despite Inspired Builder's quote coming nearly 20k over another company, we still went with them. Our project was a hallway bathroom remodel, a kitchen remodel, and renovating two bedrooms into 1 primary suite with an added on closet and bathroom, effectively going from 3 BR 1 BA to 2 BR 2 BA. We also repainted the interior of the home, re-finished the walls, removed a fireplace, and completely redid the flooring. My husband and I come from a super humble background - him a teacher, and me in non-profit work. That means EVERY. SINGLE. DOLLAR is not taken for granted, and everything we spent was intentionally saved. Ben really understood this and explained every phase of the construction and what we were paying for, and i felt he wasn't trying to scam me into paying into things i didn't need. Like any thrilling home renovation, we stumbled upon a couple issues here and there - one with our solar, our plumbing, and some rotted wood in the bathroom. Ben communicated the issues at every step and kept in contact with us and essentially took care of whatever he could. Since my husband is a teacher and I work in San Francisco, we weren't on site every day or every week and trusted Ben completely to help us make decisions and get things done, and he did just that. Partway through the process, we were given a different on-site manager and it was a bummer to not be able to see Ben anymore, although he stayed in contact weekly - and i should note that we got reassigned not for anything bad, but because Ben got promoted! Let me tell ya, these guys are working on 5-6 projects at a time and yet somehow he answers within an hour, and knows every detail of your project and doesn't get it confused with another project. One thing I would recommend is being really clear about your price preferences on finished materials, and be willing to look for things yourself if you don't agree with the price of something chosen for you. And be prepared to stay super organized - they give you a google sheet with items you need to purchase by room, and it's super important to check EVERY LINK and make sure you're buying what you're supposed to get. If you're confused, ASK THE QUESTIONS! Anyway, the house turned out beautifully and we're so thrilled to move back in. I called Inspired Builders after having a long 8+ relationship with a 1-person general contractor. Basically I was getting tired of mistakes, delays, over budgets and just overall fit and finish despite working with them for many years. I've always had a bias that design build firms were very expensive but I was at the point of needing a change. After reviewing 3 design build firms proposals we ended up with Inspired Builders. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner! They took the stress out of a bathroom remodel. Kept it in budget and on time. The fit and finish was perfect and the 2D/3D designs I received is exactly what was delivered. The trades came in and was very respectful, kept things protected and cleaned up every day. I had constant communication with my project manager, Ben. I would definitely do more projects with them as what you expect is what you get and then some. Excellent customer service. Extremely responsive and timely. I never felt like I had to chase anyone for anything. They really helped me every aspect of the project from ordering materials, getting permits and inspections done. We used Inspired Builders to upgrade a master bathroom, powder room, refresh the paint throughout our entire home and a few side projects. Ben, our Project Manager was exceptional throughout the process. He was always available to us and communication with his team was exceptional. Yes, there were errors & mishaps, but they were quick to address them and always went over and above to fix it. The team was at our home every morning, ready to work and all projects were completed on time as promised. The designer made selecting product easy with minimal stress. Ben and his team made it FUN to remodel, so much so that we continued to add projects to our list. Ben was happy to provide guidance, work with us on the budgets, make design suggestions and set expectations. Our master bathroom is pretty, much more functional, with better use of the space. The new paint throughout makes my house bright and beautiful. My husband and I are pretty particular about our home, the style, noise levels, cleanliness and everything in between. Ben and his team were very tolerant and generous with their time and did everything in their power to accommodate us. We had a few laughs and enjoyed the process of working with Inspired Builders. We recently completed our 3 bathrooms and the kitchen renovation with Inspired Builders. Our project manager, Barak, did an excellent job taking our input and providing us with several options of varying complexity/price. We visited showrooms with Nicole the designer and found materials to our liking amongst a large selection. The full three-dimensional computer rendering of the design options (the renderings included the materials we had selected and appliances we had indicated we were going to use) was particularly useful in making our decision. Choosing the most complex, we were estimated 6-8 week completion time. Barak and his crews completed the work in just 6 weeks. Barak communicated constantly by phone/text/email and was always prompt with answers and options to any questions we had throughout the project. The entire kitchen and pantry were torn down to the frames, walls/post removed, beams installed, water, drains and gas lines were moved. The crews were extremely skilled at their tasks and worked quite fast while maintaining quality and safety. Moreover, in watching the crews work, I could visibly see that they enjoyed their work, and took pride in doing things correctly and completely The kitchen was fully walled off with plastic with a zipper door. The site was swept and cleaned every day. They were particularly diligent in moving our washer/dryer in/out of the house constantly, so we could maintain the use of our laundry as much as possible. As a very curious person, I very much appreciate their patience in my watching them work and answering quite a lot questions about how and why things were done. We hired Inspired Builders last year to do a full scale remodel of my mom's house. This was a large project and we wanted to work with a professional company that could handle and guide us through the entire process so we didn't have to live through the stress. We selected 6 highly rated companies based on Yelp, Google, and Houzz reviews to interview. Although Inspired Builders quote was not the lowest quote we received, we ultimately chose them because we had a great meeting with one of the owners, Barak, and felt very comfortable that he could guide us and limit our stress throughout this process. Although there were bumps along the road, Inspired builders took ownership and solved each problem whenever something came up which is exactly what we were looking for. (An example is when the shower glass vendors chipped our vanity while installing glass shower, they dealt with the vendor and got a new vanity top ordered and replaced.) I had the pleasure working with David (project manager), Vincent (foreman) and their team at Inspired Builders. We received their contact from my daughter's friend who had worked with them in the past and highly recommended to work with them. Initially, we met with a couple of other local companies for the sake of research and price comparison, but because of the referral and the fair pricing- we knew that Inspired Builders are the one we want to work with. The customer service provided throughout the remodeling period was very personalized and thoughtful. All together we had a team of 15 professionals working on our project. That included the designer, architect and engineer at the pre-construction phase, and the professional crew who performed the construction work. Our scope of work included a kitchen and bathroom remodeling, added a laundry room, hardwood floor installation and new lighting throughout the house. We were very impressed with the team`s rate of progress and noted that they showed up to work every single day. Every time when we faced a challenge- the management had informed us and always came up with a solution, we felt very confident working with their team. To sum up our experience with Inspired Builders I would have to say that they have lived up to their reputation.
