Yaniv and team refreshed our 25+ year old kitchen and delivered on all fronts. He listened to what we wanted (to keep cabinets which were in decent shape and flooring which was recently replaced) and worked to update everything else. He allowed us to control the design and appliance choices and readily provided in areas we were unsure of (ie, lighting, sources for countertop slabs, etc). He and his team were very responsive over the course of the project from initial consultation through final touch ups and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time given that it was started during the holidays (right before Thanksgiving and finished by New Year's). The area was kept clean and organized, workers courteous and the team communicated with us each step of the way. The final product is exactly what I had envisioned. When we purchased this house almost 5 years ago i loved the kitchen!! It was so large compred to our last home. The bathrooms,on the other hand, were not so much to love. The showers were only 2-3 feet of space, dark and uncomfortable to shower in. Hardly any vanity space and the places the toilets were, were well, not the most spacious. We knew eventually we would have to renovate the bathrooms. Well, when we met Yaniv, we hired Shefer Builders to redo our roof. I could tell instantly he was an extremely detailed person. This filters down to the staff. The entire staff!! Talking with Yaniv during the roof project, we decided to have the company redo our bathrooms. This included a 3D designer, and a mobile showroom that came to the house so I could choose all the fun stuff. Everyone is so nice and comfortable to talk to about design and pricing. In addition, the crew and foremans were very helpful in explaining what they were doing throughout the enire projects. As for the kitchen: we had a dishwasher go bad and it leaked water all over including out the back of the house!! Well....perfect time to have Shefer Builder renovate the kitchen!! What a continued blessing to have the crews come back again and help in such a fine way. I reached out to Shefer Builder through Yelp when I was looking for someone to come and repair a roof leak, This was during the heavy rains in February 2023. Yaniv responded quickly and we set up a time for him to come out to take a look at the roof. To pinpoint the spot on the roof where the leak was coming from, he took measurements from inside the house. He actually climbed up on to the roof to get a better look to see what the issue was and in order to provide us with a more accurate quote. He came back a few days later after the rains had stopped to look at the roof and again and then told us that it would be more cost efficient to call him when we were ready to replace the roof. He would have to pull up too many areas for the repair and it wouldn't be worth it as the leak was likely due to pooled water on our roof with some slopes were positioned and the abnormal heavy rain. We ultimately decided to have Yaniv replace the roof since it was going to be due soon and we found someone who we wanted to work with. In addition to the roof, we added on additional work. Yaniv's team also put in a swale pit in our backyard for water drainage (entailed removing and then reinstalling pavers), put in a 55 sq ft cement path, replaced our water heater, and repaired the ceiling where the leak was and some other sections with some cracks in it. Yaniv's team worked fast and efficiently. When we brought up issues, whether it was ways in which we could reduce our costs by cutting back on the scope of work, or water pooling on the reinstalled pavers in the backyard, Yaniv was responsive and worked with us. If we need more work in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to use Yaniv again and would definitely recommend him to others. read more

Shefer Builder did a great job overall on our complete gut home renovation.  This work was all licensed and permitted.  There were some bumps along the way, but we're happy with the end results. This is a 5 star review, but please read on for details on how issues were resolved. Scope of work Full house renovation including extensive demolition, full kitchen, two bathrooms, structural changes to one bedroom, new plumbing, new electrical, new windows and flooring, paint in all rooms, garage work, and new gutters.  Nearly all of this work was completed before we moved in.  Overall, the kitchen turned out great. It looks amazing, especially the countertops and the island. We did have issues with the cooktop and the wall oven not fitting with the cabinets which caused a lot of stress and confusion. The cabinets were eventually modified to accommodate the appliances though it's not a perfect fit.  The bathrooms also worked out well. They were able to enlarge the windows without issue. The tile work in particular was fantastic.  The new hardwood floors look wonderful. Very smooth fit and finish with no visible nails. There was some damage as a result of some work done after, but this was also resolved. Most of our difficulties came from the electrical work.  It was a big job with a subpanel upgrade, higher voltage outlets for the oven and dryer added, new outlets and light switches in all rooms, new ceiling lights and fans, etc.  Some issues we encountered: Some light fixtures were put in place without consulting us on the exact placement so these had to be moved later. Cables in the attic were not secured to beams.  The kitchen chandelier was not properly secured to the ceiling beams. Work areas not clean/protected resulting in dings, scratches, light fixtures getting dirty, etc. Some outlets were not working Cosmetically some outlets are a bit crooked.  Pendant lights weren't evenly hung.   The electrician did come back several times to resolve most of these issues, but these resulted in delays and complications, and many of these things don't feel like the homeowners' responsibility to chase down. Communication/Follow ups Communication at the beginning was amazing.  Shefer was always available to walk us through the construction process and shopping for materials.  There was a clear schedule of payments and work began quickly.  There were regular calls from Shefer to clear decision making, and replies were also prompt when there were any questions or concerns.  We also had a text and Whatsapp group where we could discuss matters with the project manager, the accountant, and the foreman.   Receipts were provided for all materials that Shefer purchased on our behalf, and we never felt like they were trying to upsell us on anything we didn't need when it came to the quality or quantity of materials. It was not always easy or possible to communicate directly with the workers onsite.  There was always the potential for misunderstandings, large and small, so we had to be attentive and plan ahead.  We visited the job site often and tried to keep track of all the things that were being done. Some issues are to be expected on a project of this scope, but some were not reported to us so we felt like we needed to be diligent about calling out mistakes that could be more costly to fix later.   As the project went on and the major work was completed, communications with Shefer became less frequent, and requests took longer to be fulfilled.  It was evident that as our project was winding down, they were moving on to other things.  This is not unexpected, but it did result in some simple matters taking longer to be resolved, especially after we had finally moved in. Some permits took several tries before passing inspections.  I don't know if this is normal, but we did pass all inspections in the end, and we were not charged extra for this extra work. Conclusion Our home looks great now.  It was a lot of work, and to Shefer's credit, they really did try to correct mistakes and were willing to try and make things right for us.  This builder did not nickel and dime us for every small request, and they even made some complimentary improvements here and there for us that were not originally in the work order.  Many of the issues we called out could have happened with any builder, and in the end, Shefer's overall cost, time frame of renovation, and general quality met our expectations.  We recommend their work, but we also recommend that the homeowner expect to take an active part in their renovations and be diligent about making sure things are proceeding as planned. read more

I used Shefer Builder for a kitchen remodel and I'm so glad I did. They were friendly, detail-oriented and flexible. First, I didn't want a total teardown. I wrote a detailed doc specifying what I wanted and sent it to a bunch of contractors. Yaniv was the only guy that actually read it and gave us a competitive quote - everyone else tried to upsell us a total teardown. I really appreciated that. We wanted to purchase all materials and appliances ourselves, and Yaniv worked efficiently with us to schedule things . You will not realize how amazing Yaniv and Shefer builders are until you have gone through some other contractor and have had a bad experience. We remodeled 2 bathrooms with Shefer Builder. We got almost 5 quotes from different contractors, Yaniv's was somewhere in the middle but we went with him because from the get-go he was very prompt about everything and was flexible to accommodate what we wanted. There were no hidden costs or no sudden additions to the quote along the way. He was extremely transparent about everything and that's exactly what we wanted. Yaniv and his foreman were constantly in touch with us through a text chain and we could ask them anything and there would be a response within 10mins. Their work was amazing and thorough. Yaniv came in time and again to ensure that everything was done right and as we had agreed on. We finally decided to have some renovations done to our house. This consisted of a full kitchen remodel, a fireplace remodel and changing the floor of the entire house from carpet to luxury vinyl planks. We did speak with several contractors but at the end, we chose to go with Shefer Going in, we knew they wouldn't be the cheapest but there were several reasons that made us pick Shefer. In talking with Yaniv, he seemed very knowledgeable with all the aspects of renovating. His advice and suggestions were sound and good. He had a team that helped with administrating and designing, and he offered 3D rendering which we thought was a big plus. We were be able to see the kitchen layout before it was even built. More pluses were that he offered to handle the entire permitting process, something we're not familiar with and he also had connections with suppliers. He was able to help us get some of the materials backed by his knowledge of each. From cabinets, to the counter slab, to sinks and everything else, he gave good advice on what was good and what was not. Yes, we did research on our own, but he told us aspects of some of the materials that we didn't even think about. We found this very valuable. So bottom line, we didn't have to shop for everything ourselves. We just picked the styles we want and he'd help us get them. We probably wouldn't be as confident if we had to get everything ourselves. Another important factor was insurance. Yaniv assured us that all his workers were adequately insured and backed it with up to date, current documentation. Yes, renovations can get chaotic but Yaniv's team worked professionally. Everyone had a good attitude, they were friendly and they worked very hard. Like with any renovation, there were hiccups that popped up along the way. For any problem that came up, we told Yaniv and he addressed each one as soon as he can. Through the entire process, we always had good communication with Yaniv. It was mind blowing to discover how many details had to be discussed. From where tiling should end, on how to position knobs and pulls, how doors should swing open and so many others. Yet Yaniv always made himself available to talk to us. He was always responsive. Again, we feel that good communication is a key to having a project run smoother. We also tried to think what Yaniv and his workers go through. There were a couple of times when we decided to make some last minute changes. We tried to tell Yaniv right away and not wait until they were well into the work. He appreciated this very much that we saved him and his workers some unneeded work.
