Again, the quality workmanship while installing custom cabinets.

If you want the worst experience, you could have, call these guys. It was a revolving door of project managers and inferior subcontractors that damaged existing hardwood floors, caused plumbing leaks, and electrical problems. When you let them know what the issues are, they take weeks to send out yet another new manager to make repairs, and it dragged on for months. It took more valuable time and frustration just to get them out to start repairs. Then, there are several no-shows because the guys that came out to assess and agreed to make repairs are no longer with the company. The whole agonizing process starts again. They never repaired the bad lighting installation, so after giving them a chance to resolve the issue and waiting two weeks without any response today, we had our own guy come out and repair the problem. We understand you can't control every subcontractor, and we expected possible delays, but when you patently wait for them to finally finish (10 months and counting), this is completely off the charts.

Despite a tight schedule (& over the festive season holidays) Edison managed to pull off our bathroom renovation ahead of schedule. Many thanks especially to Me'shelle & Benny, Jose & their crew for their hard work & professionalism... Highly recommend them & would use them for future work.

I had a great experience working with Edison Home Improvement on my bathroom remodel. Will, the project manager was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. The crews showed up on time and did great work! I'd recommend them to anybody looking to do a remodel.

I met with Gali regarding an estimate for a kitchen remodel and found her to be efficient, knowledgeable, and punctual. Gali and Carlos take pride in their work and they intend on giving their clients excellent service. Carlos is a great problem solver and will do Excellent work, details on my tile and other areas of the kitchen are beautiful, quick response and very professional. Had to have one thing checked after and they were very responsive, came out right away and took care of it. Highly recommend.

Molding incomplete and uneven threshold

We completed a remodel with Edison in 2022 and were pleased with the overall work. We have had a few adjustments here and there and then had issues with our floors. In April of this year the team came out and replaced the entire living room floor because it was installed wrong. I was here the day they originally installed it and the sub didn't know what he was doing. He didn't level or seal The floor before laying the planks. I asked about this and was told it was fine and accepted that answer. The floor began buckling earlier this year and they came out to replace a few planks. They soon realized there was moisture under the flooring and had to tear out the entire floor and replace it. They had done a full home replumb so the moisture couldn't have come from pipes. The job was done so badly and we asked for a second opinion flooring person to make This right. There is still blue tape on my floors. Areas of unevenly laid planks, glue sealant, even a few loose planks and a cracked one not to mention one discoloration and an uneven entry between the hall and living room. We are so disappointed. We had a great experience with our remodel until this! And I am Worried what else may turn up! I have been calling and emailing the office almost weekly on our floors and have never heard a response since July 30! I was told a second opinion would come out and they would fix the issues. I never received that second opinion or followup on the second opinion. Our floors are still not right. There are chips, glue and loose planks. Still baseboard that were never repaired. Can someone please call me or contact me back ASAP! We just want to resolve this please.

We did a full home remodeling with Edison and cannot be more pleased. They redid our kitchen, master bedroom, and three bathrooms. Our general contractor Eyal made everything so easy for us and was very easy to communicate with. He was our point of contact for everything small to large and really made the entire process enjoyable. Edison isn't the cheapest option, and I can't say anything about the rest of the company, but I can certainly recommend Eyal. If he is the standard at which the rest of Edison operates, then I 100% would recommend Edison to anyone who is looking to do some renovation work. The quality of work and customer service provided, as well as not having the headache of dealing with many moving parts, makes Edison well worth the cost. If you do start a project with Edison, definitely ask to work with Eyal!

Tiny powder room required creative solutions

Finding a contractor for home remodeling projects during the pandemic has been challenging. Several local contractors have wait lists of 6 to 9 months, particularly for moderately sized projects. Edison Home Improvement was one of 3 contractors who provided a bid to remodel our powder room, update our kitchen, laundry room and primary bath room. We met with Dotan, from Edison Home Improvement, who ultimately became our project manager.  He communicates clearly and listens to his customer. He did not push his ideas to rack up higher costs. Dotan was specific about a project start and end date. He assured us that his team would work continuously and not leave us dangling mid-project while they worked at another job site. Dotan kept his word and Edison essentially finished the project within the anticipated time frame. A slight delay was primarily caused by scheduling issues with the San Diego city building inspector. At every step through this process, Dotan texted me so I knew what to expect and when to expect it. Edison employs skilled craftsmen who arrived on time, were polite, wore face masks, and cleaned up the work site at the end of each day. I was particularly impressed with the two person team who completed the extensive tiling in our bathroom and kitchen. In a 75 year old home, such as ours, ceilings and walls are not always level and plumb. The finished tiled walls and floors, however, are perfectly spaced and level. The pictures I posted don't do justice to the up close details evident to me. The folks at Edison Home Improvement know what they're doing and do it well.

Avi and his team were fantastic to work with! My wife and I had dreamed of this renovation since we purchased the home. It's a classic Clairemont rancher, built in the 1960s and with a master bedroom addition added before we bought it. Although the addition was nice, it left a pretty funky floor plan. We needed to knock down some walls to reclaim the space from the old master, and open up the living room. We also wanted to bring in light with skylights, refresh the floors, and add kitchen storage. Avi responded quickly to our request for consultation and met with us to understand what we wanted. He immediately understood our vision and helped us understand what the project would entail. After explaining the process, we felt comfortable with their approach. We worked with Avi from design to completion as our single point of contact for the entire project. Avi's team was polite, professional, reliable, and, best of all, did excellent work. Avi updated us on progress almost daily and helped us navigate surprises without derailing our schedule. He was a logistical master, coordinating the teams and materials, and ensuring city inspections didn't cause any delays. He made excellent design recommendations and his guidance really helped elevate the space. The results speak for themselves! Overall, we can't recommend Avi and the team at Edison enough!

Like any major…read moreproject, we started by reaching out to a couple of vendors to get quotes, that's where we met Alon, the project manager for Lumina Builders. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. He was very patient with us. We LOVE how everything turned out! We'll definitely be using Lumina Builders for all of our future projects.

We went with Forever Builders, who also did some demo for us when we first moved in. Among other things, we 1) stripped and replaced the floor, 2) demoed the built-in tub and replaced it with a soaking tub, 3) replaced the vanity countertops, 4) installed a chandelier and sconces, and 5) installed a custom shower door. Steve was our project manager for the entire project, which took 3-4 weeks. We are so incredibly pleased with the result, and just as happy with the service and professionalism we received from Steve and his team. Steve managed every aspect of this complex project flawlessly, stopped by frequently to check progress and QC each phase of work, and was consistently responsive and professional. He took my calls on nights and weekends, and I always felt taken care of and valued as an important customer--such a rare occurrence these days. The craftsmanship was flawless too. I am a detail-oriented person and tend to demand perfection, and Forever Builders exceeded my expectations. As a bonus, they also installed a floating vanity for me in a secondary bathroom, as a complimentary part of the project. Since then, I have also asked Steve and Forever Builders to patch up a huge portion of ceiling drywall at my mom's house that was screwed up by another company, and they did an amazing job with that as well. You will not find a more consistently exceptional company. I'm a customer for life.

We hired them to do an addition on our home in BayHo in late 2022 (you've probably seen it on their socials) Our first project manager Nathan was horrible. He never communicated and when he did he'd ensure something would get done, only for it to never materialize. Thankfully we were assigned to Ben when I said I was just cancelling the project all together. The company pushed us hard to hire their "engineer/architect" and BOY was that a mistake. The plans were horrific, the project was delayed and it wasn't until I reported him to the licensing authority and threatened litigation that he responded to the city's request for changes. We found out later that multiple requests we'd made for the plans (pocket doors, arched doorways, etc) were never included and thus couldn't be included without starting over. At this point our project was already delayed over three months. Once work did begin we were hopeful but the project was wrought with issues. One being a MASSIVE leak during construction into the current structure of our home. We had a newborn baby and were forced to move into a tiny part of our home during this. The entire side of the house was left open and exposed for weeks which was incredibly unsafe. The project ended up being completed and almost immediately had issues (not to mention a number of frustrating things during the build I don't even have space to discuss). Grout was disintegrating, cracks were forming all along the drywall, we'd notice issues with the flooring and tiling in the bathroom. Then during the storm in San Diego in 2023 the ENTIRE addition began to leak. Water was POURING in at every point it joined the existing structure. It's now been a month and still the damage hasn't been repaired. Work was supposed to begin 9/26 after two random men I'd never met showed up and walked into my bedroom through an exteriowithout knocking (on 9/22) to "check it out." At 1pm after contacting Dor (owner) and Ben (old project manager) we were told they'd "come tomorrow." So the entire day we took off to be here to supervise the moving of our very expensive light colored furniture I was point have every bit of communication from this company so please spare me the gaslighting response. Then- in early 2025 our sliding door began leaking. We contacted them and they said it was just a "caulking issue." They came and put silicone all around the door and left it at that. They didn't repaint or fix any of the interior damage from the leak. At the end of 2025 our drain in the shower stopped working. A plumber found no obstruction but said the drain wasn't installed properly, so we have to leave the drain cover off to use the shower. Absent tearing the shower out, there's no fix. Fast forward to today- what do you know? Another leak! This time, during the most recent rain, water began coming in where the addition meets the living room. No way I trust them to be honest, so I hired a licensed roofer. He came out and said where the addition meets the original home wasn't actually sealed (and assumed a roofer didn't actually do the work). They apparently put silicone gel down where the two roofs meet, instead of firing the roof and melting it together. We'll be seeking reimbursement for this repair or eventually filing a claim in small claims court. If it gets to that I'll probably be asking to have all the shoddy work repaired. I could never in good conscience recommend this company now. I'm disgusted by the lack of communication and poor workmanship. I honestly don't even trust them to repair their work at this point.

Review Update (2026)…read more I am updating my original 5-star review from a few years ago. At the time, we were very happy with our kitchen remodel and the overall experience working with Creative Design & Build. The project turned out beautifully, which is why I originally left such a positive review. Over the years, however, I noticed that one section of the flooring felt slightly soft when walking on it. At first, it did not seem serious, so we continued to live with it. Recently, the problem became worse and a section of the floor began to noticeably sink when stepped on and eventually a few edges of the flooring broke. At that point, I became concerned that it could become a safety issue. Because we still had plenty of spare flooring boards left over from the project, I attempted to replace the affected board myself. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the new board to fit correctly due to the locking system, and I could not restore the original board either. I then contacted Creative Design & Build for assistance. One reason I reached out was because our original project manager, Oded, had told us that if we ever had any issues, we should contact the company. I left a voicemail and later received a return call from a staff member. After I explained the situation, she said she would check with management and get back to me. A few days later, I received a text message stating that the warranty had expired and that no repairs would be covered. This was disappointing because I had never been informed that there was a four-year warranty period, nor was I able to find any reference to such a limitation in our contract. When I asked for details regarding the warranty and whether they could recommend someone to repair the issue, I did not receive any further response. There were two other issues relating to electrical and plumbing, however we decided to live with that until we had a major problem we needed fixing. I still appreciate the work that was done on our remodel years ago, and our kitchen remains a space we enjoy. However, I have been disappointed by the lack of follow-up and support when a problem arose. My advice to future customers is to make sure all warranty terms, coverage details, and expiration dates are clearly documented and understood before signing a contract.
