We had water pooling in our garage coming from the walls. We knew something was seriously wrong. We called Mark and literally an hour later he was at our home. He did an extensive examination and gave us the news we already knew was the fix. The entire bathroom had to be redone. It was 60 years old and it had to be fixed right. After the walls and tile were pulled out, it was worse than we thought. They tore out the water / termite damaged wood. They made it new again. New plumbing, all new tile, new floors, new vanity and toilet. The tile guy did amazing work. Everything was level and plumb. Christian did all of the other work. He is th A team! We are so happy. We did a pretty decent size job with the Lovering team and touched almost every part of the house. We chose them primarily because we had previously used them for resurfacing drywall and painting throughout the entire house, and they had done a good job at that. Overall, we do like our renovation, but we had to make up for several problems from the Lovering team to get to our final result. First, it's important to point out the pros of going with the Lovering team: 1. Foundational construction has seemed solid, and the team was really reliable at setting up all the underlying work underneath the aesthetics. 2. Tile work was excellent as well (with caveats later). 3. Painting this time around was mostly good for the walls, though the team missed several spots. We had our kitchen cabinets painted as well (via one of their subs), and while most of the cabinet faces turned out very well, some were rushed over. 4. The sub that did the shower glass doors was excellent. 5. Lovering was on the more affordable end of the spectrum when we compared quotes with other companies. In general, whatever was done by the Lovering team directly was done pretty well. However, there was also a sizeable list of things that didn't go well, and they often had to do with poor subcontractors. 1. The subs that did the counters did a really subpar job - we had to buy another set of slabs and hired a different company to redo all the counter work. 2. The flooring sub left the job without finishing the stairs, and the upstairs flooring is definitely uneven in various places. The Lovering team did finish this on their own, but the experience here was terrible. 3. While the final tile work was good, the original person working on tile basically decided to stop showing up. Luckily, Christian on the Lovering team was excellent with tile. 4. We had to fix a number of paint issues with the cabinet doors left by the sub by finding our own contractor. The original sub also couldn't reinstall all the cabinet doors back on straight for some reason, so I had to go back and fix these. 5. Towards the end, we had been waiting for about a month for closet doors to come in, and we hadn't heard any updates. By then, the relationship between the Lovering team and my family wasn't in a great place, so we decided to end the work there and paid out the remaining balance. However, when I called the door vendor where the doors were supposedly placed, they told me that they only issued a quote and never placed an order... It felt like an unfortunately fitting conclusion given all the issues we had had. I think this team may be pretty good for simpler jobs. They may also be better suited towards clients that aren't going to be quite as discerning about aesthetic details, or concerned about timelines. But we were, so this ultimately wasn't a good fit. read more

After meeting with 3 contractors we found through Yelp (Lovering and 2 others), we hired Lovering Remodeling and Construction to remodel our main bathroom that had 1980s white tile, a jacuzzi, and a very small shower stall. Lovering transformed it into a modern-looking and sleek bathroom (see before and after photos). Mark Lovering (owner) and his crew were wonderful to work with. Mark was straightforward and transparent about the costs (which were competitive), the process, and the end product. We are very happy with the workmanship and the final product. Additionally, the Lovering team was able to complete the remodel in a relatively short time frame so that we had the space ready in time for a scheduled family visit. Mark made it a point to stop by at least every other day to make sure we were happy with the quality and the progress. Everyone in the crew was professional, polite, and were very good at their trade. We cannot wait to have the Lovering team update our remaining bathrooms. Besides the fact that I waited almost 2 weeks for someone (Soandy) to email me a quote, and still did not receive one at all, please just be upfront and tell potential clients that you cannot take on any new projects. Or even better, stop giving excuses as to why you haven't even sent out a quote. As I said before, I do my research before selecting a company and hope you do too :) We had a minor project that a lot of companies didn't even bother to look and give us an estimate. Mark called me within minutes of my yelp request and had someone come out to my house two days later to provide an estimate! Jose showed up early! Most companies give a "window of time" or show up later than expected. Great first impression. His foreman, Jose, helped us find a new cabinet source when our store suddenly told us we'd have to wait a few weeks to get them. After I had personally selected the specific quartz slabs I wanted, Miguel, the counter guy, called me when he went to pick them up because he noticed some subtle irregularities and he wanted to make sure I was aware of them before taking delivery. Sure enough, when I looked at them under the right light, I could see what he was referring to. We worked together that day to find another source that had untarnished ones. We had a master bath remodeled. Carlos was the foreman who bid on the job and oversaw the project. I was actually thinking I would go with a company that had more years of experience and more reviews, but when a few of the estimators came out, Carlos was the most personable and the most prompt at getting back to me with an estimate. After following up with a few referrals he had provided for me, we decided to go with Lovering. He estimated the job taking about 4 weeks. It took 6, but that had more to do with our changing a few things in process and delay in getting supplies (tile, a different tub than original etc.). They were pretty patient with us and kept the price right in line with the original quote. Carlos was always prompt in responding to questions or concerns that we had. When the job was completed and paid for, we called with a faucet problem. Again, he was prompt at getting someone in to take care of it. We want to especially compliment the job done by Fancisco, who did all the tile work. He was very competent, personable, and did an excellent job..it's beautiful! As I was stressing over the outcome, not being sure of having picked the colors or patterns I would love in the end, seeing work half done and messy, Francisco kept reassuring me that it would be beautiful when everything was completed, grout in, etc. and that I would be "so proud of myself for my good taste"! Long overdue. Lovering did an extensive remodel for us last summer (brand new kitchen, brand new bathroom, flooring for the entire house, two major structural changes, painting, electric, etc.) and, executive​ summary -- Carlos, Angel, and Fernando, along with everyone else, are amazing! Simply put, amazing. Great ideas, beautiful work, and the best price. 1. From the start, Carlos was among the most professional of contractors that came through for estimates and was a pleasure to deal with. The estimate​ was all business -- on time (early), handshake, measurements, estimate, done. No upsells, and no taking measurements only to disappear​ with no estimate. Just pure and friendly professionalism. Also, note, Lovering was our last estimate (of about six or seven) and they beat every other estimate by a pretty wide margin; and Carlos had all the paperwork and licenses​s ready to show which only affirmed how professional they are (not all contractors that came through did). 2. Job started on time. We ended up deciding to add a bathroom remodel​ after the original project already started. No problem! Everyone was just incredibly​ helpful and professional. At every stage. 3. This company fell apart at the end of my construction/restoration job. The workmen they sent or not acceptable and left my bathroom a disaster. It took them a long time, and the job was never really completed or correct. My bathroom vanity was cut too small, the countertop was been too big, cabinet doors had 1/4" gap, the hole under the spigot was exposed, drywall mud on the mirrors, dings in the paint, screws missing from the wall plate, casing missing from the door jamb, toilet paper rack missing, backsplash left uncaulked, and did not meet up to wall mirror. read more

My project was complicated and some companies refused to do the work, but Fernando and his team were able to fix structural issues I had on my upstairs floorboards and they were able to fix crooked joists inside my floors.
