LZ was amazing. They helped me design and execute a remodel and also a room add. They were very sensitive to my schedule and time lines and completed both on time with minimal disruptions to schedule as I work from home. I can't recommend Michael and Richard enough and plan on using them again with my new house next year. Thank you LZ Construction. read more

LZ Construction's history speaks for itself! Its family owned and operated in San Diego over 35 years. We first had a new apt. built over a garage in 2017 and have used them for every project since then. They completed the project from top to bottom, assisting with design and communicated with us frequently. Everyone associated with this company is professional, knowledgeable and skilled. They have done several major projects since then; complete remodel and addition to a house, total redo of 4 bathrooms; we wouldn't call anyone else! Their work is beautiful and communication is excellent. read more

We used LZ to add on a full master suite onto the back of our house. They listened to our must-haves and wants and designed an amazing space for us. Our master bedroom is now our oasis complete with a huge walk-in closet. It was easy because they dealt with the architectural plans and permits. The contract was easy to understand and laid out a logical payment plan as work was completed. They answered all our questions whenever they came up. Michael and Richard were great to work with and never hesitated to come out and check on things. read more

Larry and his gang worked with us to design and build a granny flat in our back yard and it came out great. Project supervisor Gary was very responsive to our needs and questions. Although we never saw Larry once the contract was signed, his crew is very skilled, knowledgeable and responsive, finishing the job on time and on budget. We are very happy with the finished project and would recommend LZ, Gary, Eric and Rod to anyone looking for a remodel or standalone unit. Thank you Larry! read more

Larry is probably the best and most honest contractor I have met and used for my contracting needs. He did a complete remodel on my bathroom which turned out perfect. I had a very minor issue a little over a year later which was over the warranty but he still sent someone out at no cost to me to fix it. He takes pride in his work and business relationships. 100% recommend him for any of your construction needs. read more

I recently had a major home remodel completed by LZ construction and could not be happier with the outcome. Larry and Michael are second to none when it comes to customer satisfaction and service. My wife and I were at a crossroad whether to do a new build or work with what we had. The homes value prior to LZ remodel was $284,000. I had a home that was outdated and in less than desirable shape. I used a home improvement website to weed out less reputable contractors and was contacted by Larry the owner after submitting my form. Larry came to my home on time as scheduled prepared to do an estimate. My wife and I explained to Larry what we wanted. Larry came to our home about a week later with an estimate of $397,000 and was aware of the sticker shock we had. Not one time did I ever feel pressured. My wife and I were asking this man to build our dream home to grow old in together. From the moment I met Larry I had a sense of ease and comfort that was not there with other contractors. He explained everything in complete detail answered any question we had and reassured us that this was the price there would be no change orders or "I didn't know you wanted me to do that." So we decided to start the dream and Larry was the man for the job. There was removal of walls, moving of walls adding and removal of doorways. We added a garage and a laundry room and updated all of the water heating and electrical. Custom work and finishes throughout the home. When it was all said and done my expectations were not only met but greatly exceeded. They house is exactly how we dreamed it could be. Throughout this whole process Larry and his son Michael worked with us tirelessly picking out finishes and helping us along the way on every aspect of the design. I could not believe how EASY this whole ordeal was. Larry always answered my calls, texts, and emails. Everything was done how we asked without questioning or contempt. I am proud to say my home appraised for over a million dollars due to the high quality craftsmanship of LZ construction. I would definitely recommend them. read more

LZ Construction did a fabulous job with our home remodel. The workmanship was exceptional and the people were great. We added 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchenette. The work was done on time and on schedule. They listened to what we wanted and we never felt pressured. They also let us do some of the work ourselves which saved us thousands of dollars. Overall, I had a great experience with LZ Construction. I plan to use them for our kitchen remodel, when the time is right for us. I would definitely refer them to my family and friends. If you are thinking about remodeling, you should give Larry Zolezzi a call. He is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly! read more

Just finished a one year remodel with a new laundry room, a new living room, a redesigned area where a load bearing wall was removed and a open space was created. Also a new master bath and master bedroom. Great family business to work with and the plumber, the painter and wood worker all were awesome!!! Thanks LZ read more

I hired LZ to remodel my Craftsman Bungalow, they under bid just to get change orders and gouged me with outrageous additional prices. They did not finish on time, did not respond to phone calls and owner was very difficult to work with. They did not use materials quoted in contract instead used inferior materials. Would not recommend LZ. Ron North Park read more

We hired LZ Construction to do an entire remodel of our home in Point Loma. It was a beast of a job that took almost an entire year, so I now feel I am quite qualified to write a review of this company! I interviewed 6 contractors prior to hiring Larry Zolezzi. Larry's quote was not the least expensive, but we were immediately impressed with his honesty. He did not try to swindle us with a super low quote only to up the price later, as many contractors do. He stuck to the budget, and did the job right. He did not try to slap bandaids on problems; he did everything right and we feel we now have a well built, safe home. He handled the planning, permit process, inspections and gave us sound advice about materials. His son, Michael was our foreman. Courteous, professional and on-the-ball! We have been living in the home for almost a year now. As with all major remodels, there were small issues ( a kitchen faucet that was leaking, etc. ) and Larry has been great about getting all the 'loose-ends' tied up. Our home is beautiful, and if we ever need a contractor again, we will be calling LZ Construction! read more

First, I only work with LZ Construction at the design phase of an interior bathroom addition project but decided this is NOT going to be the business I want to proceed with the project. I do not have information on their construction capability and quality of built, therefore, can not speak to that extend. I was connected to LZ through inquiry I made online. Larry contacted me and it was very pleasant to talk over the phone and meeting him in person. I then signed a retainer contract and paid to have LZ to start working on my bathroom design and there the disappointment started... The LZ plumber, designer and Larry himself came and assess the place and did some measurement around the house. It was promised a design draft will be available the next week. Since it was around Thanks-giving and I understood people do not necessary work at the same pace during holiday time, so I waited patiently to see the draft. After more than two weeks, I request drawing and a discussion on the design only to get the answer it had not yet been completed, let along additional discussion about the design plan. Beside the slow progress on designing, all communication with LZ became very slow after the retainer contract was signed and check paid. I then decided to terminate the process and agree to pay the time LZ had to spend, which in general would be sunk cost of conducting business. Larry did refund part of my retainer amount, so for $750 I got about 15 mins of plumber's time, and one page rough design drawing of the addition without dimension by LZ designer and a bitter taste from the experience. Overall, it was good to know that my money will not go far with LZ and the price to pay to realize that was small comparing to the overall project cost. read more

We hired LZ to design and remodel 3 bathrooms. This company was recommended to us by our neighbors who used them twice and were very happy with the results. The bathrooms turned out beautiful and we paid exactly the price that we agreed upon in the very beginning, although we had to slightly modify design during construction. My only complaint is that it took slightly longer than promised. Overall, it was a good experience and a good value. read more

LZ Construction recently finished a remodel of my second-story bathroom. I was very impressed with their work. The remodel plan was well thought out, thoroughly explained to me, step-by-step, and expertly accomplished. The result was a gorgeous bathroom. * I was given a realistic bid and expected date of completion, which was met. * Every step of the remodel was explained as it progressed. * I was notified each day what work would be done, what time the workers would arrive and approximately how long the work would take. * I was assisted in picking out materials - tile, counter top, fixtures, furniture, even paint. * Underlying (but not really unexpected) complications were found and corrected. * The crew showed up on time every day, as planned. They were friendly, courteous, and respectful of my home by making sure the workspace was clean at the end of each day. * Each paid attention to detail and had pride of craftsmanship. I have used LZ Construction in the past to add a room and to install a stamped concrete patio. I highly recommend Larry Zolezzi, his son, Mike Zolezzi, and the crew of LZ Construction - and will call on them again for future remodels. Gayle R. read more

This review is based on the estimate process, not the construction. My Godfather and I needed to add a room addition towards the back of our home. We wanted to build an "in-law" suite in the back for my Godfather so he can retire back there and have his own space. We went on an online referral service, filled out what we are looking to do, and Larry, the owner of LZ Construction, contacted us regarding our inquiry. First, I have to say Larry is a true professional when he called and set up the appointment to come out and give us a free estimate. He called me the same day I placed in my inquiry on the referral website and was able to come out two days later to give us an estimate. Before he came out, he sent me an email as well as a phone call to confirm the appointment time. So there was no waiting around for him to show up, we knew when he was going to be at the house. When Larry came out, he came prepared. He arrived earlier then the appointed time. In fact, he called me from his office to let me know he was on his way before his arrival. In addition, he pulled the County record for our property to make sure we can do what we wanted to do. So he did his homework before he came out. We dealt with other construction companies for estimates that did not take that extra step. He also brought his tools to take proper measurements. After spending almost an hour explaining to Larry what we wanted to do and showing him our rough sketch of the expanded floor plan, he took all the measurements he needed to make sure he had the numbers needed to come up with an accurate estimate. Throughout our meeting, Larry was professional, friendly, and very understanding. He was able to answer our questions and was knowledgeable about what we can and can not do. The follow up after our initial meeting was good. Larry called me just a few days later to give me our cost estimate. He explained to me what the cost included in our build out. He gave me a price range and said once we sign the contract, he guarantees our cost will not go over our contract price. A big worry with us were "add-on" and "change orders" adding to our cost once construction started. However, Larry explained to us that will NOT be the case with their company, because he listed everything out and know exactly what the cost will be. The cost only goes up if we decided on higher finishes or change the initial plan significantly once the construction started. There are many contractors who will give you a low ball price estimate only to add on once the construction starts, Larry informed us once the contract price is agreed up that is the price of the construction. Which is a big relief for us to hear. However, ultimately, we did not choose LZ Construction, because the contractor we choose was based in the area of our home and was very familiar with our particular house floor plan and permitting process. But LZ Construction was a VERY VERY close second choice had we not found this other contractor. In fact, the contractor we ended up choosing spoke highly of Larry and his team when we told him who they were competing with to get our project. It is always a good sign when even your competitor speaks highly of you. read more

My husband and I were very pleased with the service and result of our room addition contracted through LZ Construction. We decided to add a 20' by 20' room to the back of our house and after discussing the project with several contractors, we decided to move forward with Larry Zolezzi's company (LZ Construction). Besides the bid being in line with our budget, Larry and the project manager Richard explained the process in detail and answered all of our concerns in a timely fashion and to our complete satisfaction. The crew was courteous, punctual, and efficient seeming to always go above and beyond the level of satisfaction. All the tasks they performed were done to a level equivalent to what they would have done to their own home. In summary, all of the work met or exceeded our expectations. The entire staff is to be highly commended and we would not hesitate to use or recommend the services of LZ Construction. We would be happy to show the construction or speak as a reference if desired. read more
