Macarons

Love Edis. Have been visiting her shop for at least 6 years and the quality of her yummy goods are consistently amazing... year after year. The small front shop has an excellent assortment of sweets made in small artisanal batches. 2/3 of the space is the actually her kitchen where you can see her working on her next creation. Her sugar cookies are exquisitely decorated and tastes even better than it looks. She changes the design based on the season. My personal favorite is her hand-made chocolate truffles where she infuses it with delicious flavors like grand marnier, Madagascar vanilla, espresso martini, Cyprus black salt, salted caramel, double chocolate. Each one is rolled by hand and kept refrigerated to maintain the flavor and quality before being sold. I continue to keep it in the fridge when I store it home. The flavors are delicate and not overpowering or too sweet. It rivals the fanciest European chocolates. A few years ago she went to Europe to learn how to make macarons. Since then that has been our #2 most frequent purchase. It tastes just as good as the macarons from Laduree and Pierre Herme in Paris. The texture and flavors are perfect. I visit her almost monthly to stock up. So grateful that we have such high quality pastry goods available right here in our Austin neighborhood. She is so nice and sweet too. Make sure you say hi when you visit.

Off the bat, I have to say that we came here after reading reviews claiming they had the best hot chocolate in Austin. The hot chocolate was fine, but not as good as what I make at home. So don't come just for that. The storefront itself is very unassuming, tucked away in a tiny section of a strip mall. But inside, the truffle and treat selection looked amazing, and the staff were all so welcoming that I have to give them four stars. Also picked up some truffles for my chocolate-loving Granny for Christmas.

Simply the BEST for my girls :)

Caps for real (truly true) drama recreation: The 4 and 6 year old girls and I were offered macarons for our afternoon snack. Also: - assorted truffles - many gorgeous kinds of cupcakes - chocolate bars - Red foiled milk chocolates hearts - chocolates with centers - assorted macaroons - and then.... THE LAST TWO RAINBOW-ICED CUPCAKES!!!!!' And if that wasn't enough, SHE WENT AND CAME BACK WITH SPRINKLES for the rainbow cupcakes. ****SQUEE!!!!**** Just... NAILED IT!

Edis Chocolates came through for me at the 11th hour as I wanted to send my daughter something special for her 25th birthday. I looked online for a bakery that would do something unique and found Edis. Since I live in CA I had to trust the person on the phone and it worked out beautifully! I ordered a dozen hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries (and they added a few extras!) and a dozen macrons and had them sent to my daughter's work. It was a wonderful experience with beautiful treats!

You. Must. Go. Here. Now. Especially if you love chocolate. I rarely critique cafes coffee shops or dessert only places. But I have to safe as a world traveler. Who has had the best from multiple bakeries and, confectioners, and desert places, this is THR ONLY PLACE that tempers the chocolate correctly. For those of you who do not know what "tempering" means..it is a specialized and precise method to heat and cool chocolate to establish and attain that amazing smooth, rich, creamy texture with no air pockets and still have the glossy finish without adding additional sugar or base oils. Tempering is not the same as melting. Melting is when you simply change the state from solid to liquid chocolate however when melting occurs the fat in the chocolate separates and the chocolate looses that creamy texture and glossy finish Tempering is the rapid heat then cooling of chocolate to maintain that fat in the chocolate so the integrity of the coco bean is maintain and all the flavors and textures are exact and present. This, takes, time and practice. That being said let's just make one blanket statement: Every morsel of food here is completely balanced. Not too sweet, not too condensed, not too fluffy, just balanced perfectly. So let's review the heavy hitters on the menu: 1.) The Macarons-standard. Glossy finish. Nice flavor, texture is perfect. 2.) the Truffles- the perfect chocolate to filling ration. The amazing decorations on the outside are incomparable. All flavors are amazing:Trust me I've had them all. Worth every penny. I'll even go as far to safe these truffles are better than anything from Godiva or any other average chocolatier. 3.) the FLourless Chocolate cake. This is without a doubt the best chocolate cake you'll ever have. I sincerely mean that. I challenge Any of you to find a cake with this perfect texture, frosting to cake ratio, and balance of sweetness. 4.) the Cupcakes-Perfect cake to icing ration. The fluffiness of the cupcakes and its ability to stand up to the icing is amazing. 5.) the sugar Cookies- So I've made and sold my own cookies for a while, and iced them. Edis's are better. 6.) Lemon bat-amazing combination of sugar to lemon curd. The Lemon curd is so perfect that it could almost stand on its on. 7.) The maple Walnut/Pecan bar-Take that amazing texture of Pecan pie, add perfectly candied nuts, and remove all that excessive sweetness, and ya have one of these. I love these 8.) The Chocolate Croissants and Cookies- I've only had 1 cookie and 1 croissant better. Hint: their both in France. 9.) Finally: The Chocolate Mousse: You can't get better than this. One dip in the Mouse and you'll see how perfect the texture is. I hope all this feedback helps you. I wish they did a bouche de Noelle. I can only imagine how amazing they would make it. This place is on par with Angelines in Paris. I hope Edis makes French hot chocolate one day. Go here the staff is quite lovely and not pushy at all. Livia and Edis are well accommodating. I highly recommend their sugar cookies as gifts, and there ain't a Chocolate liver I've met who will turn away the mousse, truffles, or flourless cake. This place deserves far more attention and credit than it currently has. Go there, and if you're not convinced let me know! I'd love to hear your opinion.!!!

Chocolate truffles

Edis Chocolates has delicious and exquisite dark chocolate truffles. You can get a box of assorted truffles or choose your own flavors for the same price. A little box of these makes a great gift for a chocolate lover. I enjoyed their hazelnut truffles, while my mom raved about the double chocolate and espresso flavors. Can't wait to come back to try the chocolate mousse, the hazelnut torte, and the flourless chocolate cake.

We always like looking for sweets after lunch and this little shop was an amazing find. Kitchen was easily twice as big as the Treat showroom...Amazing display cases with super friendly service...The only down side to places like this is what to get? And with the Wife giving me the " we get twp each" makes it even harder! She opted for the Apple/pear tart and a Cappuccino Macaron ...Having a toaster oven payed off with the tart. Crispy crust and the pear/apple combo was great...The Macaron packed a huge coffee punch making for a great bite. I chose carefully and my choice was the Lemon bar and pistachio/honey truffle...The truffle was smooth, creamy and rich of course...wife enjoyed a small nibble as well...As for the lemon bar, yes my first one ever and that bar has been set high...nice shortbread crust and that lemon filling was just amazing...Absolutely love this place! On the radar for sure!

Coxinhas (front, stuffed with chicken) & cheese balls (back)

I love this place, but not so much for the sweets (they're good but they're not what I come for). I come here for a taste of Brazil - namely the pao de queijo (cheese balls), and, now also, the coxinhas (fried potato cones filled with chicken). They both are really scrumptious and the best I've had in Austin so far. A note to make - the coxinhas are sized small but they're still very enjoyable with great flavors. I've seen other places also make cheese balls but I still think the ones here are above the rest. Service is very friendly and casual, as it is a mom and pop establishment (usually I see just two people here) and the owners are always in the back working on their next sweet creation.

I wish I knew about Edis earlier! My friend delivered a few and we loved it all! The hazelnut torte was my favorite. The size is small but it's so decadent that I only ate half of it. I didn't try the cupcakes but my partner said they were delicious. The lemon cake was moist and tart. The dark chocolate cake was so good and also really decadent. I love dark chocolate and lemon and these were amazing. I'll have to visit in person now!

Coxinha and Brazilian soft drink ! Perfect duo !

Not sure about the other stuff but tried their Dubai chocolate and it was very disappointing. It was soft and chewy on the inside.

Each year, my husband and I participate in Lent by giving up something meaningful, such as meat and…read moredesserts. Lent is a 40-day period of spiritual preparation for Easter, beginning on Ash Wednesday (symbolizing the need for repentance) and ending before Easter. Its main goals are reflection, repentance, and renewal. After observing Lent, our treat was brunch at Ciclo (Four Seasons Hotel). Ciclo hosted Easter Brunch and an Easter Egg hunt including the hotel's lake-level ballroom. The celebration included live music and lawn activities for hotel and brunch guests. The brunch included a cold buffet, hot buffet, carving station, benedict station, and dessert buffet. You also could order customized omelets from your table. Ciclo's brunch features gluten-free and vegetarian choices. OMG...the Four Season's Hotel and Ciclo restaurant looked as though a lush bright flowered garden had been quietly grown there. Flowers spilled over every surface from the hotel's entrance to the Ciclo restaurant out onto the patio. The floral arrangements were stunning. They also served as a beautiful backdrop for photos. In addition, we ran into ole friends at brunch, which was a pleasant surprise. The standout for us was the lamb chops (one of my favorites) and callosal-sized shrimp. The sweet potatoes and ham were memorable as well with perfectly spiced sweet potatoes. All desserts were good today, however, the Oreo cheesecake and sugar cookies were the highlights. Our server was so attentive and pleasant. Also, Abribal, the restaurant manager, came over to inquire about dining experience. Such excellent service... Dining a Ciclo today was superb! I'm calling it premium surf and turf. Great night with friends and dinner. Ciclo did not disappoint. Well done.

I went there to get the limited edition Yuzu cheesecake flavor, but ended up with the banana show you instead because it was just that much better. I highly recommend going here and trying out your version of favorite. They had some incredible flavors like black, sesame, pineapple cake, Texas sheet cake, mango sticky rice.

It was rich and I was so glad the banana flavor did not taste artificial! Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the mood for a creative dessert. I'd definitely come back and look forward to trying their cookies and chocolates!
